I've visited the Mo Ran Gak in Garden Grove several times, and the Fullerton location is equally stellar. I always order the Pyeongyang Mul Naengmyeon ($19.40; cold buckwheat noodles in beef broth), although the BBQ is also excellent and very popular. I tried the Galbi (marinated beef ribs) yesterday, and the meat was very tender and flavorful. I also highly recommend the steamed egg. The service is fast, friendly, and attentive. They are excellent about replacing side dishes if needed (or at least asking if you would like any more). The interior is spacious, clean, and more modern than the Garden Grove location. My only complaint is the long wait times, but that's what happens when the food is phenomenal! Highly recommend a visit. read more

When you order KBBQ here, the service cooks the meat for you at your table to near perfection. Hardly is it burnt. For a table of 4, we ordered: Prime Non-Marinated BBQ Combination: awesome selection of brisket, bone in ribs, bone out ribs, rib eye steak. High quality meat with beautiful marbling, not too much fat. Variety of options (맛보기)비빔냉면 (spicy cold noodles, sampler): refreshing, cool, not really spicy at all (it's more sweet, really) There's a reason why all the locals (and all the Koreans from nearby states) come to here or the other location. It's a bit pricier than other KBBQ places, but by around $5. I feel like I spend $40-50 here whilst other places I spend $35-50. The only 2 big cons are the waits and the parking (especially the other location). Depending on the time of day, waiting can take either 2 minutes or 2 hours. read more

I am a huge fan of the Garden Grove location so I decided to try out their new location in Fullerton. Despite it being an off hour, at 4PM on a Saturday they were SUPER busy. The parking lot is really crowded and I was 9th in line when I checked in. They use the Yelp waitlist for tracking, but the line went fairly quickly. We waited maybe 10-15 minutes to be seated. Our server was extremely efficient, friendly, and attentive. He was managing several tables at once, including cooking but our food did not burn once. He kept a good eye on refilling our banchan and always returned right in time to grill the meat. We ordered the non-marinated 4-person KBBQ combination for $179, along with two bowls of the $10 nangmyeon with any combo. The nangmyeon is pretty big and can be shared easily between 2-3 people. Each person gets one bowl of complementary rice. The cuts of meat are REALLY divine. The bone-in and boneless short ribs were the table favorite, so tender and juicy. Came here without much expectation, since Kbbq and naengmyeon isn't anything new to me. I know the OG spot in Garden Grove would have long wait times, so came expecting the same. Surprisingly, we were seated in around 10 minutes. Something I have to comment on regarding their wait list process is that: though inputting your name via a tablet is great from an efficiency standpoint, and is common nowadays, I felt a little disappointed by the lack of support. Majority of the customers were made up of the elderly coming here to enjoy a meal together...meaning they most likely would not know how to use a tablet system to get their name on the wait list. I saw so many people struggling to get their names on the wait list upon arrival and beyond. I had to help the lady before me, and I saw someone else helping a grandpa. It would've been nice if a staff member periodically popped out to see if folks needed help (which almost every other customer coming in needed help!) I would assume the restaurant is aware of who their core customer base is (since this is their second location, with the GG location still using pen/paper for wait list), so it was a little disappointing to see this. **I only added the above wait list feedback as my parents said this is always the case, they come here often** Aside from the wait list situation, the food and service was amazing. You can really taste the yumminess with each bite, and the servers cook the meats beautifully on the grill. The side dishes are just as impressive - plentiful, fresh, and constantly refilled. From kimchi to pickled radish and seasoned vegetables, this is what KBBQ should be (ordered Combo B for 3). The service here is great! Staff are attentive, quick to help, and make sure the table stays stocked with everything you need. It really makes the dining experience smooth and enjoyable. However, the spicy cold noodles are okay. They aren't bad, but they didn't stand out compared to the meat and sides. It needs a bit more spice and sauce for the amount of noodles it came with. When we heard about his new place that opened up we've been eating to try this and compare it to the old GG location. We came here early at 6:00pm on Wednesday night, there were a few families waiting for a table already. There's an iPad in front entrance before you enter to check in your guests. (If there's a lot of people crowding the front you might miss it. Hoping that the restaurant will open up their yelp reservations for us to directly check in ourselves through the app.) We ordered the premium beef combo that included steamed egg. It's great accompaniment to bbq at Korean restaurants. It's not a custard dessert type dish even though it looks like that. It's fluffy and can be eaten with main dishes. The amount of beef for the price was a bit higher lesser quality than other KBBQ places around us. I do like their Nengmin (cold noodle) was better than other restaurants. The service was good! I didn't have to lift the tong to cook the meat. Our waitress was on top of it making sure it never burned and quickly cooked the other meat making sure food was ready for us & side dishes are refilled when she saw our portions were running low. I did notice the table next to us ordered seafood pancake (jeon) & black cod spicy stew that I will have to come back and try. After having a baby I've been eating out a lot less because it gets too stressful trying to make sure I'm keeping her safe, well fed, on top of trying to make sure she doesn't cry and disturb other patrons. So when I do go out to eat with her I make sure it's at a place I feel safe and at home in. Jack helped us out and he was so warm, kind, thoughtful, attentive, and most of all so genuine. I'm so thankful that he helped us out a few nights ago and my entire family also vocalized how much we appreciated his service. Morangak always has solid food and it's a guarantee delicious meal regardless of what you order. My family usually sticks with: brisket, marinated short rib, cold noodles, and the octopus sizzling rice dish. Occasionally we'll also get the tofu soup if we have more people who join us. CONS: - The only freaking CON is the seating policy. If we are asking for a table for 4 people, and we have 3 waiting and present, WHY IN THE HELL can't we be seated while the last person is looking for parking?!?! It's not like you have tables here that ONLY seat 3 people. FINAL THOUGHTS: - I will say that this location has much better parking, but the Fullerton establishment appears to be slightly smaller than its Garden Grove counterpart. What a glow up from Garden Grove. We ate lunch on a Friday and there was no wait. Everything was new and shiny. Super clean and booth seats had their bounce and youth. I didn't feel like I had to talk loudly over the restaurant noise which was very nice. Hot tea was available on our table before we sat down. We placed our order quickly. They have the tasting portion of cold noodles when you order the full size cold noodles so we got to try both versions. Just the same as Garden Grove. We also go the marinated short ribs. It was delicious as always. We didn't finish one meat plate, 1 full order of noodles, and 2 small bowls between the 2 of us. But I don't think there's enough for 3 people. The staff works like a well oiled machine here. They were very attentive and brought out food/water at the right time. But parking is pretty bad here too even though you have the entire plaza.
