We love the pizza here! Love the gluten free crust and cauliflower crust options... but sadly, every time I am there my pizza is not cooked in the middle... and there are always gnats flying around my food. Cool place with great food I would expect to find a place like this in Austin, TX or Ashville, NC but was surprised to find it in Chesapeake. It has kind of a cool hipster vibe. The staff greets you when you walk in and leave (like at Moe's) and makes you, at the very least, feel noticed. They were warm and inviting. They were quick to help me as a first timer as I had no clue how their system works. It's super easy even for an old man like me. Pick your crust (that's the difference in prices) and load on whatever you want from their vast array of toppings. I am a meat guy and there were 8 different meats!! It took about 5-7 minutes in the oven and I was walking out the door for $8.14. Thin crust with red sauce, cheese and 9 toppings. I find that hard to beat. It was delicious. read more

The staff is always cheerful and professional, & they really make you feel welcomed. But the pizza is A-MAZ-ING!!! I just left an hour ago. Figured I would give it a shot since it's similar to &pizza. The guy explained the concept & prepared my pizza per my request. At your end, I added the fig balsamic drizzle. Well when I got ready to eat my pizza, I had a big soupy mess. Everything slid off the crust and the drizzle looked like puddles. I picked up the pieces and ate the ingredients. Too much balsamic and it got all over my clothes. I was so disappointed. It went into the trash. I will stick with &pizza. read more

This place has great pizza and really good salads but recently the service has been tabled. Love MOD pizza!! They have a thin crust or for a small fee can get a thicker one or a cauliflower crust. They have several different cheeses, sauces and veggies and you get to pick as many or as few as you want when you create your own pizza at no extra cost! The salads are the same way adding any of the toppings you want for the price of the salad. Pizza is cooked in la brick oven and then you can pick a drizzle for the pizza or get dipping sauces for no extra charge. I recommend this pizza place for the whole family. read more

The pizza is great. We've ordered online twice, though, and both times the pizzas weren't ready for quite some time. Yesterday, my order was done an hour after it was placed, and after they'd accidentally given part of my order to someone else and had to remake 2 of my pizzas. The staff argued right in front of me, and didn't seem to be equipped to handle the dinner rush. Several people had issues with their orders. I let them know I'd been waiting for an hour and their response was "I don't know how this happened"--that's all. No incentive to return. read more

I placed my online order in the parking lot at 3:28. The app said it would be done by 3:43. I masked up and walked in at 3:45. I noticed a young man topping what looked like my order like he was salt bae. I hoped silently that it was a coincidence that someone else placed the same order. I stood in front of the expo and waited. The young lady working expo made eye contact with me and continued working. I assumed making such delicious pizza took every ounce of focus and determination and that was the reason she did not acknowledge me verbally. I'm no Ken. She plated an order for a table. Then tagged in her homeboy salt bae from before. It was her time to clock out. He comes over and also does not ask me why I'm standing there with a look of disappointment. It was now 3:52. Long story short, I waited a total of 15 minutes in the store. The beautiful pie from before was indeed mine. I don't care about a 15 minute wait. But salt bae was joking and flirting with his coworkers. His negligence caused me to miss my amazon delivery of a micro sd card intended for my dash camera. Why does that matter? Glad you asked. After leaving MOD on battlefield and not being at my place of work for my 3:49 amazon delivery, I get on the interstate and head home. While on the high rise bridge a lifted F-150 kicked up a bolder into my windshield, shattering it. Glad I caught that on camera because this E2 looking mf doesn't want to pay for the damages. He doesn't have insurance because his APR is 57% and can't afford it. We love the fresh and fast options MOD offers. Service can be hit or miss at times. When it's a hit... oh man! YUM! I do like that they always send a survey after your visit and attempt to correct anything that wasn't to your standard. They actually take your opinion into consideration and are always improving. You can see the effort and improvements and that means a lot. And the pizza is pretty dang delicious too! read more

Where I'm from, there is nothing like MOD pizza, however that novelty is definitely not biasing my view of how delicious this restaurant is. Their ingredients always taste fresh and I love how many toppings are available. The finishing sauces are definitely the best part! Since visiting the first time I eat there once a week because I like it that much. This location is always clean and everyone is extremely friendly. I mainly go on a Wednesday or Thursday, but I've seen them operate at varying levels of busy and they are always fast and professional. Went MOD pizza at about 8:00 on Weds 10/20. Handwritten sign on door said take out and online orders only. Five employees were cleaning, two hours before closing. Chairs on tables. After some minutes, one of the kids broke away from cleaning and asked for our order. She built our pizzas as requested. When I visited the store last time, a sign outlined the varieties of pizza. That sign was gone so sizes of pizzas was a mystery. When our pizzas went into the oven a sixth employee came out or the kitchen. We went here after Church yesterday, which I was hesitant on going due to my son's allergies. Worried about not being able to get him anything there, I remembered that there is a Mission BBQ next door. You have the option of either ordering a set pizza, or you can build your own pizza (unlimited toppings). My husband and I decided to get our own pizzas and built our own. I noticed that they had vegan cheese, so I asked what was in the red sauce and dough. It turns out that both are vegan! Yey! So I ordered a mini vegan cheese pizza fir my son. My coworker and I came here on a whim because I got the dates for the Got Fish food truck wrong and we needed to eat lunch. It was pretty dead at 11:30, but got packed like they had a hot sign like Krispy Kreme or something! This place is new and as such, the employees are new and I found that they weren't familiar with the menu. I selected a pizza that was on the menu, not a make your own and the young lady had to ask her coworker 4 times what was supposed to go on it. I ended up telling her what goes on it because I had the menu in my hand :/ You can get unlimited toppings, but I think that they are told to be 'gentle and not generous' because I had to keep telling her to GIVE ME MORE and every time she'd reach in the topping bucket like she was an English princess (real dainty like) and then delicately sprinkle it on the pizza. It was good though when she finally got it right. It had sausage, white sauce, pesto and red onion. Big enough to eat two slices and have about 2 and a half left for my after lunch snack. It was thin crust and they do have a thicker (think Pan from Pizza Hut) crust that you can upgrade to. I would go again, but wouldn't go out of my way to go. I prefer Your Pie in Norfolk. read more

Visited this location and am a first time customer. Beautiful establishment but the customer service was lacking in all areas. I was not greeted as I entered, there was absolutely no enthusiasm from any employee. I was really excited to finally try MOD pizza because I had heard a lot of great thingS about the place, but it's sad to say it wasn't the best experience. Although, the food was really yummy! However, the dish pit was overflowing, many dirty tables, trash all over the floor and the drink station was not stocked. This place was so cool and the staff were so friendly. We stopped by to grab Duck Donuts but I kept smelling something delish sonwe venture next door with the donuts in tow. Little to my surprise they are setup just like Duck's. We went in and clearly stood out as newbies. The lady kindly asked if we needed any help and assisted us during the entire process. We selected which size pizza we wanted. There's only two sizes and in my opinion, the 11-inch is the adult size and the 6/7-inch is for kids. At least that's how we ordered. The toppings are free and you can load whatever you like on your pizza. The price is also very reasonable. We all made our own specialty pizza and I only paid $21! Thats an average of $7 per pizza but to have all of those toppings on it made it worth it. This will be our new go to spot because the food is delish and they have an outdoor sitting area overlooking Battlefield Blvd. They serve salads and other items but I'm'm sold on the pizza and my son has not stopped talking about it yet. Watched the person who flattens the dough using no gloves. She was opening dirty doors, handling dirty dishes and then palming the dough. She told me they are not required to wear gloves because the heat of the oven destroys germs. WHAT??? If this was the case why are the three pizza preppers wearing gloves?? Seriously?!? First time here tonight and everything from start to finish was amazing!!! Haley, Ashley and Shay are absolutely amazing and extremely helpful with choosing the right pizza! The salad was really good too! We tried their lemonade and caramel pear iced tea which is homemade and I love that. This is my first experience with a build-your-own-pie style pizza bar. I thought it was wonderful, and it couldn't have been a better experience! I find it to be much better than any typical fast-food style pizza chain (and they even have a gluten free option). First off-- the availability of topping choices! Oh my! Anything you could want on a pizza-- including many components that typical pizza chains don't even offer (roasted garlic, ricotta cheese, broccoli, blue cheese, pesto, etc.). And even several kinds of drizzle to finish it off after its baked (I got the balsamic fig dressing and loved it)! I find the sizing just right, and haven't had any problems getting as much of any topping as I want put on (unlimited toppings for the same price alone puts this restaurant a mark above the rest; finally no more hard choices when it comes to choosing toppings!). If you say "double" or even "lots and lots" of whatever it is, they will pile it up as much as you ask! Just be clear about describing how much you're after, or asking for a bit extra if it doesn't look like enough. At checkout, on a whim, I picked up one of those puck-shaped cream-filled cakes, and they turned out to be so delicious my husband basically inhaled his. Think super moist chocolate cake, with a buttercream/marshmallow fluff center, encased in a hard chocolate shell. Yum! It barely took any time for our pizzas to get assembled and cook, and for us to be out the door with our order. I have to say, I love their crust as well. It is the chewiest thin pizza crust I have ever had (with nice, crisp, browned edges), and I liked watching it cook in the massive wood fired oven. You can see the slight, authentic amount of char on the underside of the pizza, which gives it a great flavor too. read more

Totally delicious! The toppings were fresh and plentiful. The Italian sausage was spicy and the mushrooms were fresh. I was extremely pleased with the crust. It was cooked perfectly and had a nice chew. The red sauce was very good as well. I love the design your own pizza concept and had been to another pizza joint in the area with a like concept (1000 Degrees Pizza) many times. I thought 1000 DP was awesome...that is until I visited Mod Pizza. Mod Pizza is my new "go to" pizza parlor. The GM of Mod visited the table while the wife and I were eating. She picked up the dough and read "dairy free" written on the paper then sprinkled mozzarella on my pizza. she fixed the cheese, but put barely any toppings on my pizza, like if I wanted a pizza the was just red sauce I would have made that clear. I am repulsed at the way they styled my pizza. I had to ask multiple times for them to put more toppings on my pizza. each time they would put like 1 more. I was worried- normally if a place is "value-priced" the food is lacking, but that wasn't the case here. The customer service here is awesome, all the employees seemed to having a great time. The prices are amazing- we got 2 Build Your Own Mod pizzas (unlimited toppings), and two drinks, for less than $20 bucks. But the pizza. It was so good. We passed by here and saw the new place, I was sure they wouldn't have vegan options but when I looked it up online, I found that I was wrong. The topping choices are extensive (corn is my fave pizza topping!), even if you don't eat meat. They use Daiya cheese for their dairy-free cheese, but there is a variety of sauce and cheese choices. The crust was perfectly thin and crispy, but they offer a Megadough double crust, if you're not a fan of the thin. If you don't want the pressure of picking your own toppings, you can always order off the regular menu. It was busy when we came in but service was quick. For a new staff, they were all knowledgable and helpful. The place was mostly full, but still clean. A little out of our way but we're definitely coming back. read more
