Purchased an air conditioning system from Costco, which was installed and maintained by Monarch Home Services. Within the 1st few years, had a major manufacturer defect in the system they installed. Monarch Air said it was a Manufacturer defect, the manufacturer said it was probably a faulty installation. In any case, ME, the homeowner, (who is still paying for the original installation), gets stuck paying the labor bill for Monarch to repair the fault. Not only that, but they charge a 'flat rate' for the repair instead of hourly, which breaks down to approx $500 per hour. (They must think they are lawyers to charge that rate) As a homeowner, you should avoid this company. read more

***DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY*** Our AC unit went out 3years ago, I made the mistake in using Monarch Home Services...They Initially started with a 30k quote, claiming my entire AC system in the attic needed to be replaced. Should have kicked them out of my house at that point. Finally settled for 7k price of replacing unit+registers and some duct work for a back room that wasn't getting any air. 3 years have passed since then we noticed a water leak bubble in our ceiling from the attic...I thought it would have to be from AC system. Called them to come inspect the system since I'm still under warranty...1st tech was nice but said she needed her supervisor to come with his equipment..he shows up, they put on this show of being professional knowing they're about to rip you off..said he did find water leak, was really bad but they could fix..also adding my AC unit was not working properly but they could also fix that..they put on a show going in and out of the house up and down the attic then puts us on with office supervisor. He said it was going to cost us $800!!! I said should t our warranty cover that...the leak must have been to improper install..they refused to admit fault and claimed this wasn't covered by warranty..they kept stating how the system was really bad and advised us not to turn on AC until they fixed it..I denied their service (already knowing how they operate) got a second and third opinion and both advised nothing looks wrong...they didn't even see the leak (they must have fixed it but refused to admit fault to avoid paying ceiling and wood damage) AC unit was tested, also was working fine, rattling noise was from a loose cover..Monarch claimed that noise was unit not working properly. I've been trying to contact them so they can cover water damage to ceiling but have not gotten anywhere, keep getting the run around when I call the office. This company is the worst of the worst, liers, scammers and thief's. Do not even call them for service, guarantee they will sabotage your system to make you spend money, will them make you feel vulnerable using their fancy AC verbiage making you think it's urgent..LOOK AT ALL THEYRE BAD REVIEWS. I would advise to avoid this company. They showed up around 4:30pm for a 8:00am -11:00am ETA window. They then proceeded to tell me our unit was too old to fix, everything was leaking, and refrigerant is no longer able to buy (and didn't mention an alternative) so all in all the only option was to spend 30k to replace. A second opinion came in with a fix under 1000. I wish I could say this was the first time they tried to pull a fast one but it's for certain their last with us. Jairo and Mario were great. Very friendly and helpful. Although I didn't understand what they explained really, they were thorough. My system is only a couple years old and still under warranty. They took pictures of all the issues with my system, and wrote it all out including diagrams. I'll be contacting the company that installed it to take care of the issues. And if for some reason they are unable or willing to fix it these gentleman assured me they would come back and get it done right. ***Update... they returned my call and refunded my house and my nanas house.*** Do NOT use Monarch Home Services. We went cheap and used them to service our AC unit this summer. They then quoted us about $1,000 in repairs. Our AC was replaced in 2014 and still under warranty so we called oasis who installed it to come under warranty. They just showed up and showed David that Monarch didn't even service and clean our AC and showed David the things Monarch said we needed that we don't . Apparently Monarch used to be under a different name but they had so many bad complaints they changed their name. So they are still the same lousy lying company!! When oasis showed up we showed them the paper that Monarch gave us and before they event looked at our unit they looked at each other and laughed and said our unit is probably just fine. Which after they inspected it , said nothing is wrong. They used to be under contract with Costco but ended up getting a lot of lawsuits so they changed their name. read more

Tech failed to switch out my filters as stipulated in my service agreement. Seems like Monarch techs have gone down in quality. Considering switching to another HVAC service. I was talked into a "free" inspection through Costco. The first technician had to have someone else come out for him. That person didn't have the correct ladder (for 2 story bldg.) we had to reschedule for the next day-not a big deal. 2 people showed up for the service. They were professional and friendly. I was showed pictures of my unit and gages then I was told I had to wait for the supervisor to show up to get pricing. $400 for the blower fan to be cleaned and $400 for a grate to be cleaned. Bakersfield is a very dusty place to live & breath. My family & I allergies like most people here. But, this year its gotten worse. Well, Monarch came to do a service check. Come to find out we forgot to change intake filters. We learned our (sneeze,cough,sneeze) lesson. The service Tech Harry & wing-man(sorry forgot his name), explained that it's very important to change filters so the AC Unit doesn't work so hard. Harry made sure we understood all the problems we caused ourselves. They both were was very helpful, courteous, very professional & supportive to my (sneezing,coughing) VET father & family. Now our indoor air is Clean & Breathable. Harry also ordered Ionizer filters, which is so much better. After they left, dad says they deserve a raise. Thank U Monarch for training your techs well. What a horrible Company. I got the A/C unit and heather. A Manager convinced me to buy membership to check the unit once in the Winter time and the other in the summer time. Since October 2023 I have been chasing them to come do the service before the membership It expired on November, 21,23 now they are telling me that the membership has already expired, therefore I no longer have service and apart from that, they no longer come here where I live, same city same house where the unit is still ,no one called me to tell me that they were no longer going to serve anyone here which is not my problem they still owe me the service that is covered by the membership that I paid for the whole year. I spoke with another Manager, I am being talking a lot with a lot of people, I had my notes but this manager, Jose made the arrangements for them to come and give me this service, no one have come to do this, but I keep getting phone calls, calling me to say they are coming to do the service and then they call me again to cancel. I'm tired of this company!! Today Mireya, the last person I spoke call me to make an appointment then call me again to say it's canceled then I had to repeat her the same story and of course she cannot resolve any problem just repeating like a computer saying that don't have a membership anymore and they don't come to servicing here and I'm being repeating a repeated again that's not true. As my wife and I were leaving Costco, a lady asked us about having our home air conditioner serviced. She explained that through Costco, they were offering a complimentary springtime A/C Tune-up. We were planning to have that done anyway, so complimentary is good. I explained that before I scheduled this, I have a Home Warranty Policy, so there is no need to come to my house to discover numerous issues and expect me to pay for a bunch of repairs. Their representative said no problem, so I scheduled the appointment to have them out. A Monarch Home Services technician came out and completed his inspection. He told us that either the Blower Motor or Fan Motor amp draw should be 0.5 but ours was reading .076. I can't remember which motor he was referring to. He called his supervisor, and they recommended recalibrating the motor and see whether they could lower the amp reading to 0.5 or less. The technician quoted me $100.00 to recalibrate the motor, which we agreed to. After he recalibrated the motor, the amp draw dropped to 0.5. The technician and his supervisor recommended a field supervisor should come out and do a more thorough investigation to determine the exact reason for the high amp reading. I should have trusted my better judgement, but I agreed, and scheduled the field supervisor come out. The field supervisor came out and went into the attic. After he finished with his investigation, he sat down with us and explained the additional amp draw was essentially because our ducting, registers, and return vents were choking the system. He would submit his report and have another supervisor get back with us for a complete breakdown of everything we would need. He then called that person, the third one, and put him on his speakerphone. Mind you, our house is ten years old. My wife and I are the original owners. For Monarch to suggest that our ducting was bad, our registers were too small, and our return didn't allow for enough air to flow through the system, is saying the original builder put in a system which is not to code, or inadequate. He explained that the calibration steps the first technician did was merely a Band-Aid. As far as I'm concerned, I'm disappointed that Costco condones Monarch Home Services. The purpose of their complimentary tune-up was to gain access to our home so they could push their ducting program. After the third supervisor accused me of not caring anything about how everything runs in my household. I said this meeting is finished. I told them I wish I'd never seen the lady at Costco. I wish I'd never seen or heard of Monarch Home Services, and that as far as I was concerned, this was just a scam to take advantage of naive homeowners. read more

Had 17 yr old ducts replaced 2 days ago , installation went well except for a couple mishaps that needed to be redone. HVAC unit is 2 yrs old installed by Monarch and works fine, after Duct replacement there is no heat coming into the rooms . Tech did adjust thermostat, Daniel was great at explaining questions . But I wonder now about the quality if after 2 days there's no heat .As a customer for the last 2 years and had been satisfied before seems quality and for the value is dwindling . Wow wow! My mom (Spanish speaker) had a representative come to her house (Vincente) to do an estimate. They told my mom that she qualified for a HVAC system and made it sound really nice for her. At 21k plus 12% interest she went ahead and signed under the pressure of this sales person. She then came to my house to let me know that she signed I read thru her contract and omg! 12% interest is ridiculous she would be paying 46k for this system. I let her know that there is no reason why she should be paying interest she has an amazing credit score of 750. She then asked me to help her cancel the contract which I read and it stated that there was a 3 business day cancellation notice without penalty or obligation. She then called Vicente and text him that same day no response. This was on a Saturday. Monday came around and he threatens my mom by texting her that they already bought the unit and that if she wanted to cancel there was a 2500 fee and pretty much said what interest we wanted. We then sent him the cancellation letter no response. Later on that day a technician Carlos calls my mom saying that she has an appointment for Tuesday install day. My mom then tells him no!! We are canceling this contract! We filled out the paperwork and called the office to make sure everything was cancelled Lucia at Monarch stated that everything was cancelled. I told her that I will be dropping off the cancellation notice in person which states on the cancellation letter to have it delivered in person to there address and she says they are not opened to the public smh! I had an A/C rep visit my house, take pictures of my current A/C units and insist that he measure my furnace in the attic. He was up in the attic so long I climbed up to find him standing then dusting off my duct work. He spent several more minutes in his car then returned drawing his idea that my current duct work isn't working. My current system IS working just aging (17 years old). So I asked what his quote was as he insisted the duct work needs replacing...$93,000. That's more than three times my last quote. I am having the same NEGATIVE experience as the other reviewers that gave a one star rating. They keep canceling appointments, no one with authority will return a call. I have made 8 calls over two days and NO ONE FROM DISPATCH RETURNS CALLS. Customer Service says they can only send a message to Dispatch, that they don't have a number to call DISPATCH. THAT HAS TO BE A LIE. BUT NO ONE FROM DISPATCH EVER CALLS ME BACK. Waiting for 2 days to get a window of time when they will arrive. So I have wasted 2 whole days waiting at home. I spent a fortune for a new HVAC system and vent system. Now, I hear from other HVAC companies that I was taken, and that they are WAAAYYYY overpriced!!!!! I am leaving this review on behalf of my parents who I am seeing are both very disappointed in the customer service from their main contact (salesman) on the job, Vincent Jimenez. They don't know I'm leaving this but I felt it necessary as it pains me to see them feel like they have been left hanging. My parents are currently having issues with one of the units they purchased from Vincent and have since been trying to contact Vincent to get their questions answered about their extended warranty and get the proper guidance for the issues they are experiencing but Vincent has been no help and basically said to call the office. Zero stars. I purchased a new heating and cooling system through Costco in 2017, that was maintained and serviced by One Hour Heating and Air Conditioning. Everything ran great and I was very happy with the system. I was advised at a later date Monarch was the new owner of my system. I purchased a membership through Monarch that included a six month check of the system. Every time they came out for the six month check, there was always something wrong or was told I needed to purchase a more expensive part to better my system. I ended up purchasing every bell and whistle to increase the longevity of my system. During my six month checks and not being able to sell me anything else, I was told my system was running fine and all they did was change out my air filters. I want to emphasize that my system ran fine and I did not have any issues with my house cooling down. On July 15, 2024, I had a regular six month check up on my system and was told everything looked good as usual. For some reason a supervisor (salesman ,named Jake) also showed up and informed me that my system that was running fine and giving me no trouble, was in need of $18,600, of duct work, and that's with a military discount! Even though the Monarch technician named Steven Leyva stated everything was in good working condition, Jake the supervisor, convinced me that my AC unit would not last much longer without the duct work. Note; Jake stayed at my house til 9:00 p.m. to make sure all paperwork was completed so Monarch was guaranteed their money. On July. 17, 2024, technician Paul Yasania arrived to my house to complete the job of replacing the duct work. It was a two day job. When the job was completed, my wife was pleasantly greeted by the Monarch technician stating everything from point A to Z had been replaced. That evening after the technicians left, the temperature never went below 83 degrees. After several calls to Monarch talking to Jose Ledesma, Quality Control, I was informed a crew was close by and would stop by to check out the issue. Then at 8 p.m. I was contacted by a technician, Dominick Lopez, that they were in route. After the tech arrived and a check of the system, I was notified a duct had been pinched and caused the coil to freeze, so we would have to shut down the system for 24 hours to let it defrost. It was 100 degrees that day. I decided to go up there and take a look myself. I noticed Paul Yasania didn't complete the job I paid $18,600 for. Paul used half my existing ducting and did not change any connectors. In other words, not even half the job was done. They tried to scam me by leaving my original duct work and stating that they replaced everything new. Again, I notified Jose Ledesma, Quality Control, of my findings and he stated he would send out a five man crew to complete and re-do the job correctly the following day. Triple digit temperatures and my family had to suffer waiting for the AC system to be repaired. July 19, 2024, at 102 degrees temperature, Jason Talamates and his crew arrived and supposedly completed the job. That evening the temperature in my house never went down below 83 degrees again. After multiples calls to Monarch, I was told a technician would then come out on Saturday. The next day, Saturday, Miguel Magana arrived and the temperature was 106 degrees outside. After evaluating the work that was previously done, he determined that the coil was damaged. After further inspection, he advised me that a whole duct line on the farthest of my house had not been replaced. It was still the original duct work. They actually tried to scam me again by not replacing the ducting on the farthest side of the house. I then posted a review on the Monarch website of their work and was immediately contacted by Production Manager, Samantha, who told me she'd have another crew sent out the next day to replace the final duct work that seemed to be forgotten. That crew arrived that evening and completed that job at 11:30 p.m. After that duct work was completed, I realized no air was coming through the ducting. In conclusion, I had to contract a different company who had to replace the work that was just completed. This was the worst experience I've had with any company and I hope no one falls for Monarch's scams. read more

Told me the static resistance from the return ducts was as to high putting stress on the blower motor. Told me I needed to redo the whole steel ducting system below the house to alleviate the stress on the blower motor for optimum performance. Also Told me the blower motor was leaking oil and needed to be replaced and the wheel cleaned inside the unit and for $17000.00 they would take care of everything if I agreed to sign contract that day (red flag). I just got a second opinion on everything I was told and the technician told me the unit is in perfect condition for 5 years old, the blower motor is electric so he laughed and told me he'd like to see where the oil goes back in. If you want to pay too much for unnecessary and overpriced services these guys are a great place to go. I was connected to them through a big box store and they replaced an HVAC unit for a price that seemed high. I was willing to trust them based on the connection and their "stellar" service. During the initial sale, they tried adding on duct replacement which I declined. I also purchased a service contract. Unfortunately, after the installation, the good times stopped. I tried multiple times to get them out to service the unit and kept getting canceled and rescheduled on. After 6 months of attempting to get them out, when they finally showed up to service the unit. During the service, they noticed a high static pressure and went on again about replacing the ducts stating the unit shouldn't be used. Luckily I called another firm for a second opinion and they observed that not only were the ducts fine, but they were likely better than what would have been installed. They also mentioned that if we had needed a replacement, the price would have been a third of what Monarch quoted. read more

Red flag swindle alert! When you hear "STATIC PRESSURE" sound you alarm! Monarch's technicians are well verses with this buzz word and are very skillful in using "Static Pressure" to swindle customers into expensive but unnecessary repairs or even replacing a whole unit unnecessarily. We have been swindled into replacing the entire air duct system (a hefty $24,000) unnecessarily by this scare tactic just before Christmas. While a static pressure of below 0.5 makes the unit run more efficiently, and a higher pressure does hurt it somewhat in the long run, Monarch will try to make you believe a higher pressure will cause your unit to fail imminently, so you will be scared into making unnecessary and often expensive repairs. I am compiling notes and records to show BBB how I fell into their trap. Please spread the words and warn other people about this new scam word of "static pressure". You can take the advantage of an $89 maintenance service, but when you hear they say "static pressure", RUN FOR THE HILLS! read more

They serviced my unit for the winter and were very thorough. Very professional and nice, but when the supervisor Brent checked my ducts he mentioned one was disconnected. He tried to sell a whole duct replacement costing $23,000. When I told him I needed a second opinion he got upset. He never mentioned about fixing the disconnected duct and left angry. It's not one star because they did show up and do the job. I am writing this to warn others about this company. You don't know me, so check the BBB.org website to see for yourself. This company is not BBB accredited, and they have 45 complaints in the last 12 months. There Better Business Bureau rating is an F due to complaints. I wanted a local HVAC company to do a repair to stop water leaking from my equipment in my garage. They told me the repair should be under warranty for labor by Monarch Home Services, since Monarch installed new HVAC system for me in 2020. Monarch charged $189 for a leak that did not get fixed, and scared me into a $12,495 duct job they said I needed to save my four year old air conditioning unit. I feel foolish falling for Monarch's deception twice. Their salesperson told me that my air conditioning unit could fail if I ran it before duct work was done. They pressured be to make the decision on the spot, scaring me with the thought of no air conditioning or expensive equipment failure. Later while the work was being done, another Monarch employee told me I didn't need to worry about running the air conditioner. The equipment would have been okay. So as a 64 year old woman, I was not running my air conditioner in over 100 degree weather, and agreeing to an overpriced expensive duct job. I am not the only one, but I am embarrassed to admit I used this company a second time. Check out the reviews online as well as the Better Business Bureau before giving Monarch your business.
