I was fully prepared to give it 5-stars, but when I scrolled over the fifth star, it said, "As good as it gets"... Instead, I gave it 4, which translates to, "I'm a fan". I always receive great service despite the fact that the "cooks" are, for the most part, really into the soccer that is ALWAYS playing on the TV, (unless the Lakers are on). That being said, I DO NOT CARE! They get the job done, which is to cook my food, then send me on my way with the only delay coming if there are others ahead of me. Being a huge wimp when it comes to spicy, I am very upfront about this with them, and they have always been cooperative. I believe this is where it is better to over communicate rather than be shy and let them make it how they would want. This policy alone has allowed me to honestly state the following: I have never had a problem with my food when eating here. I don't understand how some can be so pushy with the Starbucks people across the street by emphatically barking demands at what you want and don't want, yet complain when you don't do the same here, only to find that your food isn't how you wanted. As for the difference between large and regular, I have tried "large" once, to find that it was still about the same size as the regular. The drinks are from a fountain, unless you get a Sobe or whatever they have in the fridge. It is 50 cents for a refill, which is probably to deter the homeless from coming in and camping out near the drink dispenser. This is where I do go big and get the large, it's worth it. The location is good, two doors down from Life Cafe and across the street from the UV. Because it requires more time than I have for lunch (at which time I contribute money to the school!), I normally only go there for dinner. All in all, this place is good. Communication is key here. This place is pretty legit. Not only is the food great and a variety of choices, it's generally close to campus as well. Best part yet? I get to use my ultimate tetris skills and stack everything together. Trick is to make it circular, aka, meat on the outside of the bowl, then stack inwards with heavy stuff to light stuff. Tofu, Broccoli and meat go on the bottom. Don't follow the order they present you the food items. Move around the line if needed. If you want a lot of meat, don't stack it all on the bottom either, after you're down with your circle stack, shove more meat along the edges again. Block building anyone? Tetris = win. read more

Honestly, I wish I didn't eat here today for lunch. All the workers there seemed so unhappy and unwilling to serve the whole time. The place was dirty and had a lot of flies inside. Upon arriving and being tenderly greeted by the familiar aromas that fill the restaurant you will purchase your bowl at the front register. From here you are met with the task of choosing your preferred ingredients from a seemingly endless array of frozen meats and fresh vegetables. Once you have perfected the art of stacking your bowl to create a meat and vegetable tower you pick your sauces (I get all of them plus an extra scoop of the spicy chile sauce) and watch as your food is prepared by one of Mongol's skilled chefs/craftsmen. Within a few minutes you will be handed a container filled to the brim with the most delicious, heavenly combination of flavors you've ever experienced. You may now sit down at a table and enjoy pure nirvana for the next 15-20 minutes. Overall, Mongolian BBQ is a fine establishment where the food is fresh, hot, customizable, and utterly delicious. I love Mongolian BBQ. I don't know how authentic this version we see in many food courts is but hey, it tastes good and I'm the goddess of stacking the bowl to feed a family of 4 (It's not because I'm cheap and ghetto, it's because my parents' friends owned one and they showed me how to.... but I think I am a little ghetto ^^). This one has a regular size bowl and a large size bowl. The large bowl is about the same size as the one other mongolian bbq places have. It is $7.99 and $1 for extra noodles. Very few places offer the extra noodles for small fee and this place really hooks you up. Usually they top off your already filled bowl (in my case already overflowing mountain of meats and veggies like you've never seen before), and they give you less noodles if your bowl is packed. So I used to get one chopstickful amount of noodles. When I ask for a litttttle more, female servers give me another half a chopstickful, male ones usually give me double. At this place, they dump your food on to the grill then fill your bowl with noodles. This is much better deal for me, because not only is it more noodles for my noodle hungry bf, it also prevents any tipping over of my veggies from the somewhat angry servers because I'm taking all their food. The cooks are very friendly and they never look like they're miserable, like the ones at the food court look all the time. Those guys make me feel like "maybe I shouldn't have ordered food here cuz now they have to work." But here, they must enjoy the work environment cuz they're never grumpy. They also have a variety of menu items- Korean fast food I guess you can call it, but I haven't tried any of it. The food is good.... They give you a bowl, then you pile your meat and veggie's into/onto the bowl as much as you can. Turba, at the end they add noodles and spices and stuff....Thats the good part. The bad part is the tight wad asian lady in the back who refuses to put the correct amount of carbinated water in the soda... Love the fake reviews that all the 4's and 5's gave - cant see how you can give this past a 2 stars. Here is the reason why i gave it a 1: I asked for bulgogi plate but they literally told me no you should get the mongolian bbq it taste better (i laughed and said okay because i didnt think of it too much) then after picking my meat and veggies the person just started making the sauce for me without asking he put 2-3 scoops of garlic and then spicy (thank goodness i dont mind either of them) and then he asked if i wanted BBQ sauce - i asked "what is the BBQ sauce made out of" and he said barbecue then we went back and forth until i just said ok sure ill try it - the workers dont even know whats inside the sauce and just told me to get it and then poured the other 3 sauces lemon teriyaki and oyster - WHILE he was doing all this he did it sloppilly and all the sauced started to fall on the counter and kinda mix with each other as well - so in reality it does not even matter what sauce you get in the first place (lol). SURPRISINGLY the food turned out edible - but one of the worst places i have been to for mongolian bbq and food in general. hopefully i helped convince some of you to not try this but for those who do good luck! read more

The first thing you notice when you walk in are the blaring signs of "No smashing food with your hands" Personally, I think it's over-priced for the amount of food you can fit into their bowls; they offer "regular" and "large" and there's about 2 tablespoons worth of difference in the sizing, but the price difference is over a dollar. They charge per refill for drinks, which I think is horrible for the local college students looking to save a buck. The staff seemed distracted by their cellphones. I wasn't too hungry to really unfold my stacking skill last time but if chance arrives, I shall and may add extra star if they allow me to :) I call the super stacking method sandwiched meat flower. Basically laying out beef (lamb works too but beef is easier) protruding inch or so out of bowl and squeezing it flat with another bowl to make larger bowl... step can repeat itself to make bowl with approximately 2-3 inches larger radius quite easily. When I first time came here, I didn't know that Mongolian BBQ is a kinda fried noodle. After I paid, the staff gave me a bowl to contain meats and veggies. I tried my best to put as much as possible of meats and veggies in that bowl. Next, a staff would fry those stuffs for me. Before he fried, he asked me the preference of the sauces, and I chose to add every sauce "extra" including chili and garlic. When he was frying, I saw he added many orange objectives on my dish. I was very surprised that he gave me so many "carrots" for free! Until I ate, I finally noticed that those objectives are noodles instead of "carrots". Here are some tips about dining in this restaurant: 1. Whatever ingredients you put in the bowl will be fried with noodle. 2. I think you don't need to order combo. For me, it is strange to eat fried noodle with steam rice. 3. Until now, I don't know what is the difference between regular and large. I feel the staff gave me the same size of bowl, no matter I ordered regular or large. 4. The fried noodle looks very cheap, although the price is not cheap. However, the taste is very good if you like spicy food. read more

Maybe its just me, but I can't stand a restaurant with such high turnover of serving the same food severing frozen meat. Its lazy and cheap. If you are the type of person who usually have mommy cooks for you or, you consider top ramen and some easy mac a good dinner by all means, your pallet would fit this place. If you like good fresh food, not just a bunch of crap in a bowl with some tasteless miso soup, please look further. Also, its very expensive. We are huge mongolian food conoseuirs and we have to say that this is one of The best mongolian restaurants we have ever been to. The food is fresh and delicious, the price is right, and for once, and this is a big thing, the hot spices they put on the food is actually hot as heck, and it is delicious. The staff and owners son were very welcoming, we had a great time. One thing that kept it from getting 5 stars, you gotta do all you can eat, even if its one might a week or something like that, lets see an all you can eat. I first found about of the concept of cramming as much food in a bowl here. Basically you pay a set price for a bowl here and cram as much meat and toppings for your noodles while walking through a buffet style line. The good thing is the guys behind the counter don't hassle you about over loading your bowls or anything. You can stack as much as you want. After you get your portion set, you have the guys behind the counter cook it for you on a big stir fry table while you watch and choose the sauce. It's nice and smells good while you wait. The food is a little too greasy, but I'm guessing thats from all the meat I stuffed into the bowl. Other than that it tastes great, and the place is clean and spacious. read more

I've been there for the BBQ and it was decent. If you know how to stack and I had a friend who stacked meat up to his chin, it's worth it. But the second time I went there I tried the Ramen. BIG MISTAKE. I paid 5+ bucks for instant noodles! I kid you not! When they brought out the bowl I thought the noodles looked familiar. One bite and I tasted the SAME flavor package I usually put in my instant noodles. All there was were some seaweed and onions! They didn't even have meat in there! I love this place. I have had other Mongolian BBQ places in the past, but their noodles is what gets me coming back all the time. Their noodles aren't the standard yellow, thick Mongolian BBQ. Their noodles absorbs the sauces that are being cooked with it and I love that. I get the regular bowl, skip the meat but pile on the mushroom, broccoli, and tofu. For the sauce, they recommend all of them but I only get BBQ, lemon, and Extra Hot. At the end of it all, I add sesame seeds to complete my pile of steaming hot noodles!! read more

I found this spot one day while looking for Shakey's Pizza (which is no longer in this area). The food is excellent, simple and straight forward and cooked well. We went on the weekend so we didn't have to worry about the university crowd. This was a great find in Riverside and close to where I work, so I'm very happy about that. read more

The bowls are kind of small and they ask you not to crush the meat down but guess what. Every college kid will still Smash their meat down so they can pack in more. They know this as well and thats probably why they went with small sized bowls. If you couldn't get all the vegetables you wanted on your bowl, once they throw it on the grill, you can ask if they could throw more of _______, in there for you. Mongolian BBQ is not really mongolian and its usually you like this type of food or you don't. This is my favorite place to get Mongolian BBQ! Basically when you walk in, you pay for your meal, and they give you a bowl, and rice soup and/or drink if you so please. Then that's when you start making your own creation. Entrees range from $7-11, depending if you get a regular or large size, and if you make is combo. There is a wide variety of frozen meats and vegetables to add to your entree. For me, I like adding chicken, beef, tofu, pineapples, and mushroom... very simple =) Don't be afraid to overflow your bowl... it seems like they don't mind so much. The cooks will then ask you if you want all of the sauces in your entree... which I highly recommend. The mix of the sauce flavors is pretty damn good. Also you can choose how spicy you want it. Then you kinda wait for your food to be ready... but at least you can see them cook it. Afterwards I like to sprinkle sesame seeds which they offer near the soda machine. The end product is delicious and filling as well. I only come here every now and then, but when I do come here... I am always satisfied. The only thing I don't really like is they ask you to pay for refills. Other than that... pretty good and yummy place. Also free wifi! (The code is on the cash register when you pay). read more
