DANGEROUS AND NEGLIGENT WORK - DO NOT BRING YOUR FAMILY'S CAR HERE I had brake replacement, tire service, and wheel alignment performed at this Monro location in December 2025. Shortly after, my wife and young child were driving to Albany in a winter storm when the brakes started making a loud banging noise. She was forced to drive in fear for an extended period before finding another Monro location, where a technician discovered one brake caliper bolt was MISSING ENTIRELY and a second was dangerously loose. My wife and child could have been killed. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I contacted Fairport manager Kevin, who was completely nonchalant and actually said "the advantage of Monro is you can stop at their other locations."[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] He eventually offered a partial refund -- which was never paid -- then became completely unreachable. I filed a BBB complaint (Case #24733045). In their formal response, Monro corporate ADMITTED the caliper bolt was not properly secured and acknowledged filing an insurance claim for rim damage caused by their negligence. Despite this admission, they are refusing a full refund. The tire pressure light is also still on after their tire service, and the rim was scratched. This is a documented safety failure that endangered my family. Just picked up my car and I am still upset. Monro replaced my muffler, resonator and attached pipe under 3 years ago for $814.92. Recently, my Impreza sounded really loud. Took it back expecting most, if not all to be under warranty. Boy! was I surprised. To replace the resonator, pipe and muffler again would cost me $883.01. The only thing under warranty was the muffler itself, not installation. I needed the car for work so I really couldn't wait so I bit the bullet and had the repairs done. Found out other shops in Fairport would do the same work with stainless pipes for just slightly more. I tried to get an adjustment before paying the bill and the "Manager" was busy and didn't come out to desk, instead relayed a message that the bill is the bill through the new clerk. In my opinion, please look elsewhere before going to Monro. The phrase let the buyer beware is definitely appropriate. read more

This review is not about the service providers but rather the management of my local Monroe Auto Service and Tire Center. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It started when I arrived my appointment had been removed. I had scheduled a service appointment for tire rotation ( I bought tires there), Oil Change, and inspection[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I was informed the woman at the desk remembered seeing my name but "somehow" it had been removed.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] THere was no one there to do the inspection and that would have to be done on a return trip.They would however fit me in. Then I was informed that they had broken a lug nut when removing a tire. Ok so it had to be replaced. After thought I asked if I was going to be charged labor costs for this error. I was assured not by the same woman. They would have to go down the road for the part. Part delivered. Next informed that there was another broken part connected to the wheel found and they would have to get that part off site. Now into hour two. The young man went and got the part himself. I Then asked what my cost was going to be and it came to $132. She said oh yes there is a $ 30 charge on here for labor. Thought about that again. I said that the parts were in the same location so why am I going to pay an additional labor charge? Others in the room heard me. She denied ever saying they broke the lug nut or saying I wouldn't be charged labor ! She left the room while I dealt with another person. Who eventually removed the labor charge. An hour appointment went into almost 3 hours. 1) why wasn't informed my appointment was removed? 2) why was I not informed there was no one there to do inspection so I could reschedule the full appointment? 3) Why did she deny what she said? I have gone there in the past with no problem but will never return. read more

I have, by previous owners warranties and one coupon, had 4 services done at this location. 1) Muffler under warranty - tried to upsell to $2500 charge for one pipe section and a catalytic converter. Refused to do warranty work. 2) Oil change on SAAB Turbo - Did not change filter and added 5qt of oil on top of full - burned out turbo and rings. - Refused repair. 3&4) Father in law insisted on bringing his car to this location for oil change coupon. I called on Friday morning to make an appointment with this location gave them full details of my vehicle. Young man with Spanish accent was super friendly & nice. The next day I arrived a few minutes before 3pm the man behind the counter was rude, and demanding. Right off the bat he asked if I can leave my car and come back. I said I Will be happy to wait as long as it takes, he rumbled and said how the mechanic is working on tires and is busy. With smile I said I understand and I will wait. Half an hour later he came out and said I don't have your oil filter and need to order it, no one is answering his call? He didn't ask what type of oil I wanted synthetic or not, no details. Now he was focused to get me out of that store fast??? I have no idea why? He wasn't willing to help on Sunday or Monday and couldn't get me out of there??? I kept asking him questions and he wasn't willing to answer. He claimed to be someone who was only helping while next client came in and he seemed to know him. But for some reason I wasn't good. The next few minutes I called university Ave location and gave them same details they happily said yes we will take care of you! When I went there the manager Bill was very nice and apologized that man was rude! This is wrong , people set time, come in to get service not rudeness, disrespect! I will never go back if I see that guy there!!! Made online appointment for a state inspection for 3:30 on Saturday. Arrived to find no one at desk. Waited five minutes until I called the location. Person on the line said they did not have a state inspector there. When I asked why I was able to make an appointment for a state inspection, why that appointment was then confirmed by email and text, he said "We should have an inspector here Wednesday," as if that would be satisfactory. Never, ever again. Last time I was here they charged me for a tire rotation they did t do (my rims are marked...I always check) and, worst of all, I witnessed them being absolutely condescending to a female customer. Go somewhere else. Anywhere else. This place is absolutely awful. read more

As a woman, I have never felt more respected when dealing with an auto shop! Every other place I called quoted me an insanely higher price and said they were booking a month out! Took my vehicle here once for an oil change and tire rotation. Simple. Asked them if I brought it in early enough, would they have it done no later than Noon or One because it's my work vehicle. They said it wouldn't be an issue and then I called at 12:45 and they never even put my vehicle into their system, let alone pull it in their shop. Awful!!! Made appointment on line, got email verification and printed out "Thank You Your Appointment Has Been Confirmed." Luckily called to check, I was not in their system and no appointment was listed. I was told they don't do "stay with vehicle" because of "COVID Company Policies". That is a lie, I stayed with my car at Penfield and Victor locations. Girl went on to say they were shut down for weeks because of recent COVID cases, but she doesn't believe in showing proof of vaccine for employees and says it's illegal. No it's not, I have to show proof at work or get tested. Then to add insult to injury she had no intention of looking into the issues of their online appointment system. She said I just wanted to argue and hung up. No, I wanted an oil change as scheduled. If anyone gets to hang up it's me over leaving work early for a confirmed appointment that you can't find. Do yourself a favor support a local auto shop, "Fairport Auto Service" , where a nice polite gentleman answers the phone and doesn't think a routine oil change requires a drop off and 24 hours to complete. read more

Don't use this place unless your prepared to wait and not have your car done in a timely fashion. I've brought my car there for a few years because the location is good and they have weekend appointments. On numerous occasions I've made an appointment, they tell me how many are ahead of me and approximately when it will be done. Today I dropped my car off at 9:30, with 5 ahead of me. When I went back at 4:50 before they close they had not taken the car in and 2 were still a head of me. This is ridiculous. I was told there was only 1 tech. That's not my problem, don't take appointments you can't handle!!! I will not be going back and will tell others not to use them. read more

I made an appointment for 8AM, which was confirmed via email and I received multiple reminders re: the appointment (Egypt NY). Dropped the car off at 7:45, and was promptly told it was "drop off only", can't wait for any vehicles. No problem, I called Lyft and went home. At noon, when I'd heard nothing for over 4 hours, I called. That was the first call for an hour and a half, where I called repeatedly and the phone was answered and hung right back up. I eventually scheduled another ride with Lyft to get back to the Monro location and pick my car up, at 1:30. While on the drive there, I placed another call to the location to hear "we haven't even had a chance to look at it". I said, "don't bother, I'm coming to get it now". When I arrived, my car was actually up on the lift!!!! The staff there had the nerve to tell me that X,Y, and Z needed to be repaired, "but you don't want to wait". No communication for 5 1/2 hours, no answering your phone - even hanging it up instead of answering it properly. I will NEVER use Monro again. What a colossal waste of time. read more

I arrived, and my car was pulled in, opted out of the tire rotation, and was on my way in 20 minutes. I would give a 5 star, but it is my first visit, so I want to see the consistency. They do a good job doing oil changes cheap with coupons, but they always come up with laundry list of repairs. Few end up being required. They broke my oil dip stick and said it was my responsibility to replace it as it was older. That sucked. read more

I went to have one tire replaced. I went in on a Friday, was told the tire was not in stock, but that it would be ordered and in on Tuesday. I was told it would cost $212.65 and that a hold would be put on my account until the work was actually completed. That wasn't true. It went through as a purchase and cleared my account on Monday. The tire was not in on Tuesday as promised. I received a call on Wednesday that it was in so I proceeded to go into the shop. After the tire was put on, they informed me that they had been "mistaken" and that there was actually a shipping charge of about $80 because they had to get the tire from NYC. They told me they had "taken care of" about $50 but that I still owed $29 and change. They never told me that there was a shipping charge at all and when asked, they responded that there had been a miscommunication between them and the transport company. Had I known that I was responsible for an $80 "shipping" fee just because they didn't have the tire I wanted in stock, I would have gone elsewhere. read more

I went to Monro Muffler Brake for a standard oil change as I usually do this time when I left my car was making a knocking noise I get home in the hood is pinned up I open the hood and they left my oil cap off on my engine and all the oil came out in my engine bay now my car is sitting in my driveway now will not run and no one from the store will help me they told me they cannot do anything at all I've called corporate they were supposed to get back to me within 24 to 48 hours and it has been 3 days no one will speak to me everyone I get transferred to is a voicemail this is a very horrible business do not go there by any means they will not help anyone they do not try to help anyone never go there by any means read more

I made an appointment for a New York State inspection online and brought my car in this morning. The associates were friendly and got my car in right away. Within 30 minutes, I was finished and on my way. I want to complement this store on their selection of magazines to read while I was waiting. Normally in repair shops, if there are any magazines at all, they are out of date. The magazines here were the very latest and I was able to catch up on my reading while I was waiting. read more

It took them an hour and 45 minutes to do my oil change. I would have been much better doing a walk-in at Jiffy Lube. Next time I will drive the extra few miles and do just that. read more

After it was done they said the actual price was $110.99 - reason was they were too busy to give an accurate quote over the phone. Classic bait and switch.
