The chicken in the sesame chicken and chicken lo mein had pieces of fat and gristle, which is common for Chinese food but still gross. Mushu pork was pretty good. Side of fried rice had no flavor or veggies, egg, etc. Overall, if you want takeout it's an ok option but I don't plan to order from here again until I've at least tried some other options. read more

Ok...let's define a few things, this is a basic carryout / dine in restaurant. You order at the counter and if it's to go you wait and when it's ready you carry it out. If it's for here you take a seat and they will bring it to you on a plate or bowl and and it's kinda self serve from there, drink machine is self serve, there are plenty of condiments handy, carryout containers and fortune cookies are available self serve near the beverage station...similar to most BBQ or taco stand in town. My husband and I normally get our Chinese food from Uncle Wok. We noticed that their quality has kind of gone down lately, so we decided to try Moon Wok based on the pictures of food and other reviews. I ordered online at about 9:10pm on a Sunday. After ordering online, I did call the restaurant to confirm because I have had online orders that did not go through before. The woman who answered was kind and doubled checked the order with me. She said it would be about 45 minutes. We only had to wait about 30. The knock came at about 9:45. Now to the food. We ordered the California roll, the crab roll, egg rolls, fried dumplings, shrimp fried rice, and beef and broccoli. The sushi was really good, tasted fresh, and filled with their ingredients. The egg rolls were crisp and well fried. They weren't greasy and the filling was yummy. Same thing with the dumplings, which there were a lot of. My husband really liked his shrimp fried rice, I think he just prefers it spicier, but the shrimp were huge, and the serving was enormous. My beef and broccoli was delicious. The broccoli was crisp and the beef was lightly sweet. The sauce went really well with the rice. Overall, a lot of very tasty food for not a lot of money. Ok so this place was AMAZING! I ordered after searching for real authentic Chinese Food in the North Dallas area and finding them on Yelp. I AM BLOWN AWAY, FINALLY!! I had the Curry Chicken, Hot & Sour Soup and Combination Fried Rice. They were all amazing . I saw some of the previous review about the Curry not really being Curryish ... THEY'RE LYING! I've lived w/i a 1/4 mile of the Moon Wok and have been a faithful customer from the beginning. I am always satisfied with the flavor/freshness and service. I believe their 'may have been' an ownership change some years back but I never noticed any difference in the food and have recommended this place to a number of my closer friends to try as well I've taken a few directly. I came here a few weeks ago and order the lunch specials General Tso's chicken. First off the place was filthy. Tables covered in dirty plates and food. Food all over the floor. I don't know if I have just missed the lunch rush or what The General Tso's chicken was absolutely the worst I've ever tasted. I won't be eating here again. I used to go to Rice Bowl Express all the way in Oak Cliff when I would get my nails done out there. They have the best General Tso's chicken ever. Their Hot & Spicy Beef dish is insanely good. It has a strong, super delicious Szechuan flavor that can make your other items taste bland and pale in comparison. The whole restaurant just looked a little suspect like it would be on an episode of dirty dining. I got a lunch special veggie delight while my friend got the chicken lo mein. The best Chinese food I've found in Dallas, it's always my go to when the craving hits. The food is always served hot and fresh and the portions are huge. You can order online and the timing is always very accurate (I've never tried delivery). I love the combo fried rice, the general tsos wings and crab rangoons. I love getting take out from Moon Wok. My typical order is shrimp fried rice and egg rolls. Their shrimp are jumbo and plentiful and their egg rolls are the best I've had since moving to Dallas. I've also had their lo mein, chicken satay, crab rangoon, and general tso's chicken. Every dish I've had at Moon Wok has been on point and their portions are large! I just moved here from San Diego and have been struggling to find a good Chinese place until I found Moon Wok. I am impressed on the quality, the quantity and the quickness my order was out for delivery. The delivery guy had trouble finding my place but , after a couple of calls I did get my food. Unclean and disorganized restaurant that gives you diarrhea for hours... Not just me, everyone who I was with too. The sushi is NOT fresh and the tuna is a pale pinky yellow. Egg drop soup was good, then again how can you mess that up ? All the employees will join you at another table and eat while you're there too. We literally had to ask for everything (soy sauce bowl, chip sticks, drink cup, etc.), including going back up and having to ask if she wanted to know what kind of soup we wanted with our meals. It's been a hot minute since I've eaten here since it's no longer close to me, but we got food from here a few times when we lived in the 'hood...I mean Like Highlands...for a brief couple of months. The place is clean inside and they have a wide variety of food. The lo mien is pretty good. They also have a few Thai options (i.e.: green curry chicken) but it's very American-ized and kinda mediocre...but you get a lot of food for what you pay. By far my favorite Chinese restaurant in Dallas and this is coming from someone who generally doesn't like Chinese food . . at all. I order from them practically everyday, the delivery guys and girls are always very nice, and most importantly the food is affordable and DELICIOUS!!!!! I am never afraid to experiment and try new things from their menu, i'm never disappointed. My only issue isn't really an issue, but the Thai Curry doesn't really taste very curryish, but it's still absurdly good and I've added it to my repeat order list along with the dumplings. More than just having your standard take-out items, the menu offers some good thai options. My favorite turned out to be the curry chicken, which comes in a soup container and is thick and spicy with big chunks of meat and veggies. You'd guess it was from a much more upscale restaurant, not a strip mall. Their service is very speedy. It took ~25 minutes for delivery. While I am relatively new to the place, my sister (who has lived in Dallas for 10 years) mentioned to me that the portion sizes have recently gotten much smaller. read more

Initially I tried it because the name makes me laugh, but their dinner specials are GINORMOUS, (seriously, the to go box was almost not big enough for the left overs) come with soup and an eggroll, all for $6.99ish. The food is pretty good, I loved the Szechuan Beef, the beef tastes nicely grilled and isn't chewy, has a great flavor. The orange chicken is also really good. Definitely 10 steps ahead of a Chinese buffet which I refuse to go to anymore. Moon Wok has actually renewed my interest in Chinese food which had fallen to the wayside for more adventurous Japanese, Thai and Vietnamese cuisine. We usually order from Uncle Wok (we live in Lake Highlands) and wanted to go out of our comfort zone - and try to find something a little tastier. I love fried rice, and this was awesome. The girl who took our order over the phone was very helpful and suggested really good things. If you're looking for good Chinese Take out, this is it! For the price - you can't beat it. The Wonton Soup came with a full container full of Wontons!!! That is a first for me, and I order it every time, and savor the (1) wonton they usually give you.
