Restaurant is within USC campus. After attending my friend's graduation at the Shrine Auditorium, we came here for lunch. Parked in the parking garage ($20). We ordered meatballs, spinach dip, and fries appetizers. I ordered salmon and my friends ordered mushrooms bolognese. Overall the salmon was cooked perfectly but lack of taste. Our waitress was very attentive and always refilling our water and asking how we are doing.

Food was very mid and lacked flavor- my boyfriend and I both ordered the most popular dishes, the albacore bok Choy salad and the fried chicken sandwich. The salad was very bland and the albacore was tough, and the fried chicken sandwich was dry. My boyfriend liked the homemade chips on the side though. There was also a fly in his water.

Offers attentive service but falls short in menu variety and pricing. The interior feels like an upgraded cafeteria, and our visit at the end of the day lacked liveliness. While the staff were accommodating, the limited menu and higher prices were disappointing. Consider visiting during busier daytime hours for a potentially different experience. Outdoor eating seems like it would be a more memorable experience. Limited hours. You do get a $10 parking credit but you have to email the parking office. Hoping mine will come through soon.

Hidden gem at USC! The kale salad was very tasty, and the fries are always a classic.

Bless my soul that my ~$60 dinner was paid for because I'm not sure if I would personally shell out my money to come here. The food is alright, but not spectacular given the options I chose. If anything, I would try the blackened salmon next time because those at my table had great comments about that dish. Otherwise, I would try to dine at the University Club instead. Located at the end of the Ronald Tutor Center building and with its famous tree that's outside in the patio with beautiful lighting, the ambiance inside the restaurant is definitely very classy compared to other dining options on campus. It's much more modern than University Club but smaller. As for service, each employee was very nice and patient. I do have to say that I got thirsty a few times throughout my meal since my water wasn't refilled so much.. The sourdough bread was presented lovely. Although you do need to separate the bread pieces yourself, they were nicely warm and easy to bite into. The butter was already warmed up and so it was easy to spread it on your bread. Citrus price (3/5): Fresh pressed juice that has tangerine(?), orange, and pomegranate while served with a paper straw! Has a strong bitter taste to it. So I ordered the orange juice (5/5) and it's your standard freshly squeezed orange juice, so I was definitely pleased with this! Sweet potato croquette (4/5): Very nice appetizer. Moist on the inside and crispy on the outside. I could taste the sweet potato without any unnecessary seasonings to overpower the main ingredient. Crab cakes (3/5): Did not order these but I had a taste of my friend's and it was quite salty!! Three fairly small crab cakes. Although the meat tasted fresh, I just couldn't get the saltiness out of my mind. My friend didn't say much but she definitely didn't finish the plate. Trout (3/5): I don't know my fishes too well but it seems like the trout is a very thin fish, because most of what I got was just skin and scant meat right below it. I wished I got more fish since it is ... the main entree, so I'm not sure if I should be responsible for my choice of entree... Anyhow, I don't know what to make of the very few vegetables that were below the trout. Not a fan of the falafel type cakes (lentil and garbanzo). Perhaps it must be tasty to others but the texture just doesn't work for me personally speaking (might be tasty for you!) Chocolate lava cake (3/5): Small round cake. Chocolate was bitter. Not a whole lot of cake. With a slight bitter ending to my meal, I was just sad from my experience.

A novel and unique poke taco. I enjoyed this very much.

Ahi tuna taco in a fried wonton shell instead of corn tortilla. Brilliant and delicious, fresh, quality tuna. Mac n Cheese comes in a metal tureen...big bacon bits and a spicy jalapeno relish...thick creamy more delish. These were the less expensive items and also considered to be appetizers, but I was definitely satisfied. Watermelon lemonade...refreshing. The entrees look amazing, but so do the prices. Ambience is casual elegance. Upscale. But the nicest part...the friendly attentive wait staff and front of house. All the servers were exceedingly well trained. I was dining alone, but they never forgot about me. Kudos! Reservations via Open Table recommended. This place was hoppn' at 6 pm with proud parents with their USC-graduating children...and a smattering of professors. Lovely evening decompressing from a long day of events (and teaching). Highly recommended if you want to treat yourself...and be on a lively beautiful inner-city campus.

Quick recap: - Food: Really good - Portion size: Good - Service: Nice - Environment: One of the nicest restaurants at USC - $: A bit more expensive for this level of service - Perks: The beautiful patio (tables, couches, shade under a beautiful tree) More details: We went there at noon. The food was really tasty. As you can judge from the pictures, the salad was nicely presented, well garnished and the portion size was good. I was disappointed by how slow the service was for this price. Overall? Great food, nice staff, high quality but a bit overpriced

Definitely one of the fanciest restaurants on USC's campus! They were able to seat us immediately on a Thursday afternoon outside on the patio but they had a mixup with servers and we had about three servers help us out. Their soup of the day (cauliflower) was amazing with the olive oil drizzle and green onions and was by far my favorite! For our main dishes, we ordered the salmon salad, sesame crusted tuna salad, and the salmon main dish with a side of roasted veggies (wowza that's a lot of fish!). The salmon salad which was pretty average and the salmon dish was fair as well. I really enjoyed the veggies even though they were over seasoned. The tuna salad, however, was really disappointing. It only had three slices of tuna on it and no more than a couple leaves of romaine lettuce (which we were hesitant to eat) and for $19, it seemed like someone just threw it together in the kitchen or dropped a couple of leaves on the way out. We were also confused because some tables got bread but our server never brought us any. Overall, definitely a restaurant to visit when you're ready to spend a quick buck $$$. Also, Thank You to Bri for being so professional and helping us out/noticing our needs! Best server at Moreton Fig!

On a recent, particularly glorious SoCal afternoon, a friend and I sat on the patio here before class, and enjoyed a nice meal and a couple of beers. Gone are the days of undergrad in the late 90s, when: 1. I would have ordered garbage from the now-gone Carl's Jr. near this location using meal points; 2. I would t have considered spending $17 on a hot sandwich and fries, as that was more or less my weekly entertainment budget (and the approximate cost of a twelver and a pack of 100s from Habib's on Vermont); 3. I regarded forty-something doctoral students wearing sport coats and dress shoes on campus with a certain level of disdain... ... and now, here I am, enjoying the sunshine and the never-ending parade of be-backpacked kids half my age heading down to Marshall or into Student Union, or just meandering around on a four-year ride whose destination is an unclear as the purpose of BUAD 306: Finance was to me. As for Moretonfig, they have a rather pricey but varied menu-- $20-30 buys a plate of food, and a pretty good beer selection will run you about $8/pint. Christian at the bar is friendly and efficient, especially if you belly-up and don't rely on the friendly but sometimes-scarce wait staff. Bout server was a nice young man, but table waters ran dry, and no two-bite "how are you enjoying that?" check-in occurred. Even still, On a cerulean-skied afternoon, how could anyone complain? At 3:00 p.m. the lunch menu ends, and small plate ordering from the bar begins at 3:30. I like the cheese plank, to go for class, of course. Now that I'm older, gainfully employed, and relatively less starving-student, this might be my new in-campus jam when I head down a little early to beat 110 traffic.

I was not very impressed with the food at this restaurant. I had a bland, buttermilk fried chicken sandwich with kennebec fries. The slaw on the sandwich tasted like it was tossed in a sauce that is allergic to salt because it had zero flavor. The house-made hot sauce tasted more like mild sauce infused with peppers. The sauce was really bad and didn't taste like it had vinegar in it, which was needed to provide acidity. If you want a really good fried chicken sandwich with all the right fixings, check out the sncc food truck (follow snccfoodtruck on IG) You will not ne disappointed!

Every year I take my student workers to Moreton Fig. The customer service is great. The host/hostess and waiter/waitress are always pleasant. We enjoy trying different entrees and desserts and sharing family style. This is a great place for student's family, a lunch meeting or dining in the sun on the main walkway through campus.

Service- Great. Very helpful and attentive. Pretty quick. Food- I had the tuna poké tacos and the steak grilled cheese. Both were very good but the tuna poké tacos were the best; very fresh tasting and light and the combination of the crisp taco shell and the soft tuna was fantastic. The steak grilled cheese was good but it was a little too salty and greasy which left me feeling heavy. Regardless, I would 10/10 recommend the poké tacos! The complimentary bread was crisp and salty on the outside and soft on the inside. Arrived with a side of soft butter. Pretty great. Aesthetic/ Atmosphere- Moreton Fig has a classy feel to it, but it's still pretty casual. I'd definitely recommend this as somewhere nice to take your parents if they visit. Price- The price is reasonable for the quality and the restaurant experience. Final thoughts- I'd go again! But next time I'm just getting the poké tacos and nothing else!

3.5 stars When I first heard that Bradley Ogden's restaurant group, Lark Creek, would be opening up a restaurant on the USC campus, I did a double-take. It seemed a little random that Lark Creek, based in the SF Bay Area, would make its first foray into Los Angeles within a college campus. Alas, it was true, and I eagerly awaited its opening. Monterey calamari with squid ink linguine, jalapeno pesto, extra virgin olive oil - We started very strong with this dish. The pasta had a good al dente texture, but the squid was the star. Tender and flavorful, these were exceptional. A little bit of heat heightened the dish as well. Yankee Pier New England clam chowder with dill drop biscuits - This chowder was rich, but not overly thick - a nice consistency. I really enjoyed the flavor and the chewy bites of clams dispersed throughout. BBQ chicken tamale, cilantro cream sauce - This was an interesting interpretation of a tamale. A corn "pancake" was topped with barbecue chicken and a sort of guacamole. The barbecue sauce was not overly rich or overwhelming, though I would have appreciated a little more corn flavor out of the tamale/pancake. Ahi tuna "crudo" with black olive, fennel pollen, orange powder, chili - This dish didn't really work for me. I thought the black olives overpowered the thin slices of tuna..and everything else really. Seared Pacific sturgeon, beluga lentils, cippolini onions, salsa verde - The sturgeon had an almost spongy texture and was very moist. Good flavor. The beluga lentils (get it?) were a welcome touch, adding some body and more depth of flavor. Roasted steelhead salmon, sauteed rapini, shallots, meyer lemon - I thought the salmon was a little undercooked for my tastes, but it was very moist. The rapini was a good accompaniment. Flavors were definitely there. Pan roasted duck breast, onion soubise, cavalo nero, Medjool dates, verjus - I really liked the presentation of this half-duck with its crispy skin on top. I thought the duck was a little undercooked for me though, yielding meat that was a little chewy. However, it was still a tasty dish - it just took a little more chewing. Lark Creek classic Yankee Pot Roast with young turnips, red chard and grated horseradish - Next was this pot roast. Very tender and with good flavor, though not unlike a typical pot roast. Big duck fat fries - These fat fries remind me of the fries my grandmother used to make. These were confited in duck fat then flash fried. They were fluffy and tender on the inside, but I thought they could've been a tad bit crispier on the outside. Still very good. Roasted brussel sprouts - Simple brussel sprouts roasted and brushed with butter. Tasty. Lark Creek butterscotch pudding, creme chantilly, pecan wedding cookie - Onto dessert! The butterscotch pudding was really nice - not overly sweet nor rich, with a good butterscotch flavor. I liked the chantilly creme, as it added a pleasant lightness and sweetness. Valrhona chocolate cake, pistachio gelato, pistachio dust - This chocolate cake was very much like a chocolate muffin. I wanted this to be a little more moist, and not so crumbly. The pistachio ice cream was good though. My impression of Moreton Fig is of a restaurant that serves upscale food within a comfort zone. Perhaps not as dynamic or imaginative as other Lark Creek/Bradley Ogden restaurants, but I understand that it also needs to serve a college student clientele. The food is solid and well thought-out, and definitely fits a niche among the dining options on campus. This has to be some of the best food ever offered at USC, and I expect Moreton Fig to soon attract diners from around the city.

I finally was able to check it off, thanks to a hotel offer with a dining credit. Dahlia is the gorgeous petite space behind the larger ground floor restaurant space now called Cabrillo (formerly Caldo Verde). Dahlia opened as a bespoke cocktail lounge, then began to offer tea. Now it's just tea. There are five 2-tops and two 4-top tables. All food and beverage venues at the Proper used to be under the auspices of famed chef Suzanne Goin and her business partner/sommelier Caroline Styne. They are no longer affiliated with the Proper, but many of their dishes/contributions remain. The last named vestige of them is on the tea menu, "Suzanne's Deviled-Egg Sandwich". The tea menu has several options: Classic, with a seasonal mocktail, or with different champagnes. I opted for the Classic experience, because the mocktail had mocha, not my fave. Server Lluvia was clearly a Dahlia veteran; she offered a tea-smelling of all the teas that interested me as well as crowd favourites. I ultimately chose one of these faves, Mad Hatter's Tea Party, which had passionfruit and vanilla. I declined milk/cream, but did get lemon. There were rock sugar sticks on the table. It seems the selection of tea sandwiches and sweet treats changes every so often, although the vanilla bean scone, dried currant scone, Devonshire cream and apricot orange jam seem like constants. The sandwich selection at my visit were: cucumber, crab/creme fraiche, beet hummus on pita, smoked salmon and Suzanne's deviled egg. All were delish, the beet, crab and deviled egg especially. The sweet treats were: orange fig butter cookie, spiced apple brown butter crumble, cranberry frangipane hand pie, chocolate mocha macaron, pumpkin madeleine, plus the 2 scones. All were excellent. There were no leftovers. A bit pricey, but a relaxing and lovely experience. The room was not crowded when I visited, adding to the calmness of my visit.

I've walked by before where this place is really crowded so I assume there's a lot more people working behind the bar during the regular busy hours. Just a great place to grab drink drinks.

No exceptions, as I witnessed a family who really wanted to come in but had an 18 yr old so they weren't allowed in and because they had a minor with them they couldn't even sit outside in their seating area. Always good to know. Inside the bar got super busy. The inside was a bit dark but again it is a bar. I like the decor and the bar seating was packed. The drinks were good if you like whiskey they have it along with lists of beer options. Nice spot to try out.

My girlfriend and I ordered two Old Fashioneds made with Ilegal Mezcal. The bottle being used was nearly empty, and as professionals in the hospitality industry, we are very familiar with proper pour standards. It was clear there wasn't enough product left for two consistent drinks. The bartender, Bryan, prepared both cocktails without using a jigger. When I politely asked why one drink appeared noticeably lighter than the other and why he wasn't measuring the pour, he smirked, gave a slight laugh, and responded that he "knows the exact measurement of his glasses." The tone and gesture felt dismissive and mocking rather than professional. Instead of addressing a reasonable concern with transparency, the response came across as defensive and condescending. To make matters worse, a 20% gratuity was automatically added, bringing the total to $71.12 for two inconsistent Old Fashioneds. Precision, consistency, and respect are basic standards in this industry. Unfortunately, this experience did not reflect that. We won't be returning.

The worst part is that the bill includes a 20% tip, which he really didn't deserve. 1st time here ):

Our bartender was helpful and personable welcoming us and taking our orders. Under advice from Caña member Elite Yelper, Isobel L., who graciously took us under her wing, we ordered a shot of Nicaraguan Flor de Caña Rum aged 12 years that came with a cigarillo. We adjourned from the bar to the patio to smoke our mini-stogies and sipped our rum. We came early when there were very few members so it was the perfect place to talk and mellow out. Those who want a more animated crowd probably should come much later when lively dance music begins, and booties start to swing. Caña Rum Bar: 4 stars
