I've always been a fan of Mountain Mike's, so I was excited when a new location opened nearby. Unfortunately, after trying it several times, the pizza here consistently tastes overly salty--enough that I find myself needing a lot of water after just a few slices. I'm not sure if the dough recipe is different at this location, but it seems like they go heavy on the salt. Hopefully, that changes, and I'll consider giving it another try in the future. read more

Today is my 2nd time here. 1st time we ordered togo. Pizza was good. We ordered the BBQ at the Ranch. 2nd time we did the All You Can Eat Lunch Buffet which is only on weekdays from 11am to 2pm for only $14.99 at the time of this posting. We tried 6 different pizzas at the buffet bar and all of them were good. The buffet comes with ayce salad and soda. Happened upon this spot while in the area and so glad we gave it a shot! I am what I call "pizza picky" and wow! Their pizza was absolutely delicious. It's a cute brick and mortar with a few token arcade games that immediately took me back to my childhood and it was clean. The staff was friendly and accommodating. They have the cutest mini pizza for kids too which was great for my son. The Luau pizza is a must try if you're into that! I'll be honest, I would say I'm a pizza snob. I was raised on East Coast New Jersey style Pizza and that's what I rate all of my pizzas on. It's very hard to find a good one out here in Southern California. With that being said, I was out running errands today and saw this place and decided to stop on my way back. It's a smaller place maybe 15 tables inside, if that. They do offer a lunch buffet, which had I think three different pizzas and salad and you could also order a mini pizza for lunch with up to three toppings. And then they've got the other menu of different pizza pies that you would normally see and they're cutely named for various mountains in the country. I opted for the mini lunch size pizza and had it with sausage and mushroom and asked for it thin crust. I have to say it was the perfect size. If you just cut it at like a normal pizza it would've been four good size slices but they cut it into. I think eight mini pieces or six mini pieces. The pizza was really good. I really enjoyed it and I know I'll go back and try some other Pies. There were two employees there when I was there and both were so nice and super friendly. Came and checked to see if everything was OK, one came by to see if the sun was too bright and if they needed to shut the blind. Just really nice and great ambience. I had to get an oil change for my car in Pasadena and had some time to kill. It was just shy of 11am so I figured I get an early start on eating lunch nearby. I remembered that there was a new pizza place nearby and it was still renovating last time I had checked. I decided to take advantage of the nice day in LA and walk over to Amazon Fresh to see if that new pizza place was ready for business. And boy, I'm So Glad I did! Nestled right off the 210 freeway between Madre Street and Halstead Street, right next to the gigantic supermarket Amazon Fresh, is a cozy little pizza store called Mountain Mike's Pizza! There was absolutely nothing small about this place! The place is spacious with big wide glass windows where team members Irwin & Miles don't mind you peeking in to see the happy customers eating their pizzas and trying the "All You Can Eat" new lunch special for $15.00! All the salad, all the fries and all the pizza you can eat!!! What a deal! Although I wanted to stay and try their lunch special, I thought it be best that I order a pie to take with me and maybe even share with the kind gents at the service station working on my car. Looking at their giant wall display, you can see actual sizes of their pizza pie sizes on the wall! So what size did I end up choosing? When in doubt, GO BIG! The 20" mountain pizza pie! I figure that would certainly be enough right?! But now the harder question, Cheese? Pepperoni? Meat Lovers? I looked at their menu and realized they have quite a bit of options especially in their Specialty Pizza category. The Everest and Pike's Peak both spoke to me! I wanted to try both! The Everest is their Classic Combination. Pepperoni, Italian sausage, salami, linguica, beef, mushrooms, black olives, bell peppers and onion on their classic red sauce. Pike's Peak is their All Meat Combo. Mounds of Italian sausage, pepperoni, beef, salami, linguica and ham on their classic red sauce. Argh! What to do!???? Went with the obvious and logical choice: BOTH! So I decided to order both pies in the 20" Mountain Pie size to feed me and the guys at the service station! Irwin took my order and told me that these pizzas were made fresh so there would be a 20 minute wait. I didn't mind it at all since Irwin was kind to give me a water cup so I can quench my thirst and have a seat while watching one of the sports stations on their giant big flat screens hanging above! Team member Miles came by to say hi and gave me some insight on some of his favorite pizza choices. After patiently waiting 20 minutes, both mountain pizzas were done, hot, delicious and ready to be taken and devoured! Miles helped me carry the Mountain Pies to the Uber that I ordered to take me 3 blocks away! (Crazy, I know but I can't chance them being dropped while juggling the 2 liters of soda along with plates, cups, ranch dressings and all the trimmings)! After all was said and done, everyone was happy, full and completely content with Mike's Mountain Pizza! I'll be sure to try their "All You Can Eat" lunch special next time! The pizza style is like "90s family pizzeria" but done at the best level possible. It's not trendy thin crust nor thick Detroit style. It's a mid thickness crust that is cooked to a good crisp so it's never soggy. Topping quality is good, sauce is fantastic. Best thing about this location, aside from the quality pizza, is the staff. There is a Mountain Mike's Pizza in the small town where I'm from and they were always known as the best pizza in town with a very unique taste and great quality. I've lived in Hollywood for a few years and every now and then I would get the craving for Mountain Mikes but the closest one happens to be THIS one which is about a 30 mile drive (there and back) which was a bit of a journey for me so I've held off, mostly just waiting for an excuse to be in the area anyways so I could stop by. However, the beginning of January I had received advertisements for their buffet which was only $14.99 for all you can eat pizza. For my girlfriend Maria and I, that seemed like the best reason possible to hit the road. The first week of January we had decided to have a special little trip to this Mountain Mikes and it was unbelievable. The pizza tastes exactly how I remembered it from my hometown, unbelievably delicious with a variety of pizza to choose from for the buffet, with a salad bar and potato wedges to go on the side, THEN they also would bring out an unbelievable dessert pizza that tasted like a cinnamon roll but shaped like a pizza, it was remarkable to me that this was only $15. This buffet also includes fountain drinks which for me was just incredible because they had a Horchata soda fountain which I didn't expect much from but it was actually some of the best Horchata I had ever had, I had to have consumed at least a gallon in my time there. Already, you can see that this experience is just unbelievably amazing which is why I think you will be able to understand why Maria and I had decided to come back here every single week since then to enjoy it over and over again. But the truth is that the best part of the experience wasn't any of that, the best part came from Waldo and Jae who worked there every single day that Maria and I had came by. They were incredible and so friendly from the moment we came in the door, they were so nice and kind to everyone who came in EVERY single time and every single day we were there. They would talk with us and see how we were doing and just check in on us from time to time to make sure everything was perfect and it always was. They were even so kind as to check with us when there weren't too many other customers and see if there was any kind of pizza we would like to request for them to add to the buffet. As nice as they were to us, it also made me so happy to see how they would interact with one another and the other employees, they've fostered a very friendly and open work environment for everyone involved that I believe is essential to making an incredible establishment. I recently tried this pizza in Mesa Arizona, which was fantastic. Was surprised to see there was one in Pasadena, so I went there to have another one of their Pike's Peak pizzas. The pizza at this location was lacking compared to the one in Mesa. It had less toppings and sauce. The crust was very doughy and heavy. The pizza toppings were flavorful as well as the sauce that was on it, but was short on the toppings as previously stated. The staff was friendly and provided good friendly service.
