I had 3 different companies come to my home to do a bid for AC installation. He did schedule me quickly and that was nice. However his bid came in $2k higher if not a little more than 2k compared to the other 2 bids. His bid was only for a 13 cu unit. The other companies were offering me either a 14 cu or 16 cu (the company i picked is installing a 16 cu) which is energy efficient. If i had Sam install a 16cu unit it was going to add an additional $1600ish to the job. I don't think any "amazing job" is worth an extra 2k in work. I even emailed expressing my opinion of the price as my Dad and ex-husband worked in HVAC and i am VERY aware of how companies rip you off. I would highly recommend getting bids from other companies before going with this one. Update :: i left the same review on google at which Sam left a note saying he would have his lawyer contact me for defamation. I am within my right of freedom of speech. There was literally a $3600 discrepancy between his company and the other two i got bids from. That is HUGE. and then he attacks me again by saying i can't afford him? LOL His biz hours are 24hrs. So therefore he didn't go out of his way to come to my home on a sunday. If anything it was inconvenient for me as I had no bra on so put a sweatshirt on during the hottest week in portland. He says my review speaks highly of my character. I think him emailing me and attacking me for the review speaks HIGHLY on him. Again. No good job is worth an extra $3600, let alone supporting a guy who is a jerk for business.

MP Heating has arrived to save the day! And with a cute truck. :)

Sam Murzea was incredible - patient, friendly, and knowledgeable. We appreciated how he carefully explained the functioning & sizing of our new furnace + the installation process. His crew, Shawn and John, were efficient, skilled, and friendly ... and such hard workers! We appreciated the level of care they took with every aspect of the installation. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend MP Heating & AC to our friends and neighbors.

Sam did an amazing job installing our fireplace in our living room remodel. They hooked up new venting and installed the new fireplace taking care not to scratch it and also cleaned up after they were done. He took the time to explain to my son what was happening too! Have already called him for another project just a week later and would recommend him to anyone I know.

I was SO HAPPY with the service. I was amazed that he was able to come out at 730pm on a Tuesday night. My AC went out in the middle of the night on a 100 degree day. I was not a happy camper to say the least. Everyone I called was days if not weeks out. He answered when I called (where most did not) and swung by on his way home. My AC was fixed the same visit (luckily it wasn't a bigger issue) and the price was reasonable. I've already sent his contact to all my friends. Thank You! Zelda thanks you too!

Added a screw to provide an inch between wood surface and vent.

Then proceeded to pre-clean all the vents with a HEPA Festool. They realized that one of the ducts was disconnected and even crawled under the house to reattach it for no extra charge! They showed us how the negative air machine works and the filter they use in the negative air machine before - and after carefully exiting with the dirty ones. Later we were able to inspect them outside! There were playing cards, a pine cone, and a massive, disgusting amount of dust/grime among other things. They uploaded a bunch of before and after pictures of the ducts along with the invoice and sent an email after they left. We are so happy we both chose to get the ducts cleaned and chose Better Air Northwest to get it done!!!

I was impressed by the process from start to finish and the noticeable difference in air quality afterward. The scheduling process was easy and transparent. I called on a Tuesday, and they were able to fit me within two weeks. The office staff clearly explained the pricing structure (which was fixed based on the size of the house, with optional add-ons like dryer vent cleaning) and sent a confirmation text the day before. The technicians, Andreas & Cody, called me 50 minutes before arrival, right arrived pretty close to the promised time. I knew there was construction down the street so I figured they would be delayed due to stopped traffic. The two arrived in a well-marked truck and was immediately professional. They took time to explain the negative pressure vacuum system they use, which involved hooking up a large hose to the main duct trunk near the furnace. They wore boot covers inside the house, which I appreciated. The cleaning itself involved systematically sealing off all registers and then using powerful air whips into each vent to agitate and loosen all the debris. They showed me the incredible amount of dirt, dust, and junk they removed from the main trunk--it was genuinely shocking and visually compelling. When finished with the vents they took on the dryer. The lint cleaned out of the vent and the filter was surprising. I expect the drying cycles will be quicker with a clean system. The entire process took approximately 5 hours. Once finished, they sealed up the access holes they created cleanly. There were only two rooms where they forgot to move furniture back in place. The immediate difference was significant: the air in the house feels fresher and less "stuffy," and the HVAC system runs noticeably quieter. I am confident that the removal of years of dust and allergens will benefit our household, especially during allergy season. Better Air Northwest delivered exactly what they promised: professional service, clear communication, and excellent results. I highly recommend them if you are looking to improve your indoor air quality.

The water heater was installed 2 1/2 years ago by Rivival Heating and the anode rod needed to be replaced because "Portland water is so hard and full of minerals". The original quote for labor alone (not covered under warranty) was $340 but we got the manager to bring it down to $250. Still, the water heater is only 2 1/2 years old and that was an expense we did not anticipate when we bought the water heater. The prior one was not broken but when we had Rivival replace our furnace, they strongly suggested replacing the water heater at the same time. The old one never produced brown water but after just two years, the new one did. Maybe the water heater wasn't as good as the previous one? Not sure... Forgot to add, my home warranty service said they could not reimburse me because this is a "warranty issue". And to be truthful, the furnace job was great! Just wish the water heater repair didn't cost me anything. Next year, when it is out of warranty, I'll be able to file for reimbursement from my home warranty provider.

After getting some bids, we hired Precision. They were friendly and professional as they installed a new Rheem furnace at a good price. Their expert work relieved our stress, and we haven't had to worry about our furnace ever since. But the condensate pump is older and it recently malfunctioned. It wouldn't stop pumping after the trough was empty. I finally flipped the breaker to prevent it from overheating. Again, it was stressful because we were heading out of town and we wanted our cat to have A/C but we didn't want to leave the the pump connected if it might overheat. I disconnected the power supply to the pump and made an appointment with Precision. Today Moses came to diagnose the pump issue and do a tune-up of the furnace as well as the older A/C unit outside. He explained everything he found in a friendly and coherent manner. The pump seems to be ok although he explained how we could install a better one that will turn off the furnace if the alarm on the pump went off. I decided to keep an eye on the old pump and vinyl drain tube for now. Since we have only relied on Precision to service our furnace and A/C, and since there are upgrades we can potentially hire them to do in the near future, I opted to sign up for their Preventative Service Plan. It gave us discounts on the tune-ups Moses did today and the new capacitor he installed on the A/C. And with the membership we'll get discounts on anything Precision does for us over the next 12 months. We're sticking with Precision because they always provide excellent customer service.

I was looking to get a quote for an HRV installed so I called and asked about that. I was asked when the last time our HVAC was serviced and since it had been a couple years was told we should just schedule a service before going ahead with a quote. So I scheduled - great! Guy came out and performed the service, but during the service the float switch we had on the system (so the condensate from the AC wouldn't overflow into our crawlspace if the drain got a clog) shorted the system when he plugged it back in. He said these things are unusual and not needed, since if it overflows it'll just have water in the crawlspace, no big deal (!?!), not like if the HVAC was in the attic. And the system wouldn't turn on unless he unplugged it, was that ok? Since I wanted the HVAC and AC to work I said ok. I asked the technician about getting a quote for an HRV and how that would work, etc, and he said he didn't know much about those and that he didn't see why they were necessary. While agree they're not necessary, we want one to improve our indoor air quality - thus the original call! He said he would note it down and the office would get back to me. Left with a $300 service bill, and an HVAC system in worse-off shape than before (no working float switch), I called back the next business day to see what could be done. The owner was really helpful and said he'd look into it, called back the next day and had the part ordered and would fix the float switch for free. I asked about getting a quote for an HRV and he said they don't really do them, so couldn't help out here. Ugh! That's why I called originally and wouldn't have had someone out here and paid $300 for service I didn't really want. All I really wanted was a quote! Lesson learned on my part, but overall won't be working with them again as they didn't help be address what I wanted to with my system (and I'm out $300 which seems pricey for what was ~1 hour maintenance service)
