I had some broken minisplits & had MP come give a diagnosis. They were very professional and kind, and told me they would send me a quote that night to replace 3 minisplits, plus charged me a diagnosis fee (which I was told would be credited when they did the replacement). Over a week later & nothing. I've reached out multiple times and no response, but I can see that my message was read. Very strange behavior from what seems like a super professional company. We have been a customer for many years. Here's why we love mp. Our water heater died. We got three quotes. Mp was the lowest. When they came out they realized the water heater they bid on was not the right one (how it vents). So they had to pivot. They were scrambled and found another one. It was more expensive and we agreed to work together on that piece. They stayed longer and got it done today. Zach was the tech and he rocked. When we have worked with mp they always have the best people. They are not the cheapest but the service is the best. We will continue to be a life long customer. read more

I had 3 different companies come to my home to do a bid for AC installation. He did schedule me quickly and that was nice. However his bid came in $2k higher if not a little more than 2k compared to the other 2 bids. His bid was only for a 13 cu unit. The other companies were offering me either a 14 cu or 16 cu (the company i picked is installing a 16 cu) which is energy efficient. If i had Sam install a 16cu unit it was going to add an additional $1600ish to the job. I don't think any "amazing job" is worth an extra 2k in work. I even emailed expressing my opinion of the price as my Dad and ex-husband worked in HVAC and i am VERY aware of how companies rip you off. I would highly recommend getting bids from other companies before going with this one. Update :: i left the same review on google at which Sam left a note saying he would have his lawyer contact me for defamation. I am within my right of freedom of speech. There was literally a $3600 discrepancy between his company and the other two i got bids from. That is HUGE. and then he attacks me again by saying i can't afford him? LOL His biz hours are 24hrs. So therefore he didn't go out of his way to come to my home on a sunday. If anything it was inconvenient for me as I had no bra on so put a sweatshirt on during the hottest week in portland. He says my review speaks highly of my character. I think him emailing me and attacking me for the review speaks HIGHLY on him. Again. No good job is worth an extra $3600, let alone supporting a guy who is a jerk for business. read more

I have personally not used Sam and teams services but continue to hear really good reviews from those in my local real estate groups and homeowner work threads. Having worked with a few local families looking for AC repairs in the pdx area previously, I was nervous to send their info over to a girlfriend in south portland because my experience has always been at least a few phone calls to follow up, expect the technician to not be on time etc. But, I have heard nothing but awesome comments about Sam and his work, follow up and process. These guys are the very best!! I cannot say enough good things about MP Heating & AC. I was referred to them by my realtor. I had just purchased a 1920's craftsman in Portland. I wanted to replace an old oil heater (!) with a gas heater, and also wanted to get central air-conditioning. I got two bids for a new gas heater and AC unit. The bid from MP was the lower bid, but I would have chosen MP regardless of cost. First, MP is a family-owned business, headed up by two brothers, Sam and Emil. Second, they were able to do the work the following week (the other bidder was scheduling two months out). Finally, Sam and Emil would be doing all of the work themselves, along with one employee, Vitaliy. This told me that they would take a personal interest and pride in their work. Plus, they provide a three-year guarantee of maintenance, and a seven-year guarantee for any labor costs of repairs! As it turned out, they did a fantastic job. The installation went very smoothly. Sam, Emil, and Vitaliy worked long, hard hours. They finished in two days and did a wonderful job. Everything up and running on schedule with no obstacles and no surprises. In addition, completely apart from the work they were doing and in a different room, Emil noticed an uncapped gas pipeline that was not in use. This was potentially an extremely dangerous situation. Emil capped the pipeline - no extra charge - because that is the kind of guys they are. Over and above all of that, they are the nicest and most personable people I have ever had work in my home. I was SO HAPPY with the service. I was amazed that he was able to come out at 730pm on a Tuesday night. My AC went out in the middle of the night on a 100 degree day. I was not a happy camper to say the least. Everyone I called was days if not weeks out. He answered when I called (where most did not) and swung by on his way home. I just purchased a mid-century house with some heating issues. The furnace was very old, the gas fireplace was not functioning and the glass door was very cloudy, and some of the ducting in the crawlspace were damaged. I called MP Heating to give me an estimate. Sam was great. He came in and thoroughly looked at all of my concerns. He offered me a variety of solutions so that I could pick the one that worked with my budget. In the end, MP Heating replaced my furnace, fixed my gas fireplace and made it look almost brand new, repaired the duct work, replaced the smart thermostat with an very nice upgrade, and installed an earthquake gas shut off valve. They threw in some free services too. They were able to get the work done quickly and their attention to detail was overwhelming. My house is so toasty and I can control the thermostat from anywhere with my smart phone. They did such a great job keeping me in the loop and keeping my house and garage clean throughout the whole process. They even took my dog out to pee which I didn't ask them to do but was greatly appreciated.
