I rarely write reviews and I rarely give negative feedback on restaurants, I'd like to say I'm typically patient and understanding - however, this evening I went to this establishment (I've been going here since 2019) and I have to say this evening's experience was not only subpar, but also an insulting experience. I came in this evening to have dinner since I was nearby (7/23/23), and walked directly to the bar stool area facing their bar, TV, and kitchen on the left hand side. I sat there for a good 15 minutes and nobody asked me if I had been helped or if I was ready to order anything - keep in mind, at this point, I was the only one sitting at the bar stool area. To make matters worse, a girl, whom was one of the servers, exchanged eye contact with me a couple of times and never stopped to ask me if I was ready to order, I basically felt invisible. The server walked past me numerous times without saying anything. I had to stop a younger guy that was working in the kitchen to bring me a menu. After reviewing the menu for another ten minutes, I still was continuously walked by without any assistance, even though I was ready to order. I had to eventually stop the girl that was the server and tell her I was ready to order, I also mentioned, I had been sitting here the entire time without anyone offering any service to me, she chuckled sarcastically as if my comment and observation was a joke. She said she'd be back to take my order. She eventually came back and I ordered my food. At this point I was ready to walk out of the restaurant as I do not give my money to restaurants with poor service and arrogant staff, but I was hungry and at that point, ordering. After ordering, I essentially never saw that server come and ask me for anything, even though when my food came, I was not given chopsticks. Again, I had to stop the guy in the kitchen when he walked by to bring me chopsticks and assist me. Once I finished my food, I sat around waiting for someone to ask if I'm ready for the bill - no one came. Again, I had to stop the guy in the kitchen, when he came out and ask for the bill. He said he would get my waiter, it appeared she didn't want to hand me the bill, so she likely gave it to him and he ended up handing it to me. I paid and as you can imagine, gave 0 tip for poor service and a passive aggressive waiter (see photo attached). For the guy in the kitchen, thank you for being helpful, you know it's bad when the kitchen staff is serving you better than the server themselves. For the girl that was "suppoesed to be" my server, do better. If you had apologized after the first encounter this would have been a better outcome for both of us - instead, you chose to be petty and passive aggressive. By the way, I speak Chinese, you probably wouldn't have guessed that by the way I look, just a FYI, the next time you make assumptions about your customers. I usually play dumb in these scenarios for observation sake Don't make assumptions about your customers, you never know who they are. I hope the owner/manager reads this, I'd love to have a discussion regarding this. The chow mein was really greasy and chewy and didnt really have any flavor. The Honey Walnut Shrimp tasted like cardboard and the walnuts were really tasteless. Overall, this is a decent Chinese place. It kind of loses its identity as a Chinese restaurant from a specific region of China but rather a combination of popular dishes from all over China. Anyways on to the food. The good - mapo tofu was tender and tingling spicy (not sure how I would translate this but the spice from the tiny round chili). The pan fried buns were good but hoped that the meat was bigger haha. The cumin lamb had good flavor but the lamb pieces are so small, I guess that makes it flavorful. The pickled cabbage and pork soup was ok, nice to refresh your taste buds from the spicy and heavy dishes. The so so - the broiling fish was ok, nothing special and spice was not enough. Yum yum yum!!! So I have been here a few times. I will say, it wasn't great but again, maybe I just didn't order correctly. So I was craving Asian cuisine and I live far from Chinatown. The Asian restaurants in my area just aren't that great to me. I normally head to Chinatown but it was super late and I didn't want to drive far. Pandemic 2021 review: It seems like they've changed chefs or something bcs a lot of dishes taste different and a bit off from the last time we were there. First off they've raised their prices - understandable in the times we live in now since all food prices have gone up since the pandemic started. Staffing is limited - also understandable since there's a shortage of workers. There use to be 2 people making the handmade buns and pancakes, today there was only one so it took a long time to get our food. The noodle dishes were fine and still good, the pancakes and buns were good but the cold jelly dish was horrendous. We chose the sesame seed sauce and for some reason it was flavorless and they added ginger - gross! Even my mom who likes ginger asked why they put ginger in the dish. Popcorn chicken was again too salty and I could only eat 1 piece. For 4 ppl for lunch our bill came out to be $113 and honestly in the past we've ordered way more food than that for the same price - just goes to show how times have changed... If you're looking for authentic Chinese feed this is the spot. Not only was it authentic but we were able to order off menu from the Northern China area known as Dongbei. Located in a strip mall parking was easy for us during lunch time and I can see during dinner it getting a bit harder. Inside was clean and welcoming. I did notice a steady flow of traffic for to go orders and sit down. The kitchen was also super busy. We ordered some off menu lamb dishes which were really good. Mr Chopstix has it all!! I love their beef rolls, scallion pancakes, and chive pockets. They are fresh made to order, not frozen like most of other places. You can watch them being made in front of you through the glass (they have open kitchen setup. I also love their grilled lamb chops, they have a good fat to meat ratio, which is not the typical lamb chop we usually have, and it's well seasoned with house blend spice. This was a delicious Chinese meal delivery experience though Uber Eats. Having driven by the location we became intrigued and decided to try it. Ordering and delivery were quick and easy through Uber Eats. We tried the beef and onion pancake, orange chicken, broccoli beef, and combination chow mein. Wow! Everything was very good. The pancake had a pleasant slightly crispy yet soft shell around a robust mixture of ground beef and onion. It was sort of like a plump fried dumpling in a circular shape. The beef broccoli was excellent. Tender strips of beef and crunchy broccoli in a very light and minimal sauce that gave the dish an overall light and healthy taste. The chow mein was also very good. Perfectly cooked noodles with a complex flavor mixed with tender pieces of chicken, shrimp, and beef. The orange chicken was also good. Crispy fried chunks of chicken that were not overly oily or greasy and tossed in a light orange sauce that was not too sticky or sweet. The dumplings are handmade and are the perfect amount of pastry and meat. The pork fried bun is so fluffy you can sleep on that bun and when you bite inside prepare to be amazed. So I honestly have driven by this place so many times and I assumed it was like a fast food Chinese take out place, stand at the counter and create your combination plate type place. But a foodie friend wanted to go here for her birthday and so I knew it was more than just that. The menu is like a coffee table book rather than most Chinese food places that cram as much as they can on both sides of a menu in tiny font. My friend ordered a Thai iced tea and I opted for water. We started with the cucumber salad which was fresh, crunchy, vinegary, and tangy with large chunks of cucumber and cilantro. Great palate cleanser. From there came the Chicken and mushroom noodles, Chinese Sausage fried rice, and garlic shrimp with green beans. The chicken was tender and flavorful and the mushrooms were meaty as well. They were served on noodles that were like the pad Thai noodles. The Chinese sausage fried rice was as expected but the rice was nice and fluffy, with carrots, peas, bean sprouts, and Chinese sausage coins. The garlic shrimp and green beans also came with carrot and onions in a nice smooth sauce, served on a beautiful fish shaped dish. Not too garlicky and a decent amount of shrimp. Lastly came the pork and cabbage pancakes which had the scallion pancake outside with pork and cabbage stuffed inside. Honestly, it is not the best Chinese food I have ever experienced, but it was flavorful, good sized portions, and a pleasant experience. Please, look at the most recent menu for Mr.Chopstix before coming here and determine if you want to spend the money that's listed on their menu. You can genuinely go down to SK seafood and get an authentic Chinese food experience for 2/3 the price.(Excluding the Pan Fried Pork Buns) Mr.Chopstix Green Beans and Pork Intestine total:$31.98 SK Seafood Green Beans and Pork Intestine total: $23.76 AND you get free white rice refills at SK seafood! Flavor-wise, I would give Mr. Chopstix a 3.5/5, but the value factor is definitely not there. I'd say actually that value is nonexistent at Mr.Chopstix. I understand that during the pandemic of 2020-2021, prices of food have gone up, but not substantially enough for a plate of spicy pork intestine to be worth $17.99. (The total amount of pork in this dish was probably about 14 pieces with the width of two quarters) 5 pan-fried pork buns for $12.99, a medium-ish sized plate of spicy pork intestine for $17.99, and a medium-ish sized chicken with green beans for $13.99. Our total bill was about $54 including tips, and you can get SO much more at any other restaurant in Chinatown. The short and sweet: If you want good, authentic Chinese food, there are MANY other places to find it. The flavor of the food here is decent, but NOT worth the price charged. Chinatown is kind of far if you are close to Mr.Chopstix, but I promise it is much more worth going down there and spending $20-30 less for a similar amount of food. The decor here at Mr.Chopstix is in one word, confusing. Once you go inside Mr.Chopstix, you notice that it's mostly a dim theme. This works for a bar or a fancy restaurant, but not here. The servers are nice and seat you down asap, and you get nice big menus with many, many pictures. The big pictures are a nice change of pace from other Chinese restaurants with those tiny pictures. Upon opening the menu, you notice the prices are terrifying. An example would be the Pan Fried Pork Buns. I understand that overhead, price of goods, and labor are a factor in restaurant food pricing. But $12.99 for five Pan-Fried Pork Buns is a tad insane. It would be nice if you were given the option to order 3 Buns instead of 5. The outer layer of the Buns is nice and soft with a crispy crust on the bottom, but unfortunately, the pork inside has no flavor or salt whatsoever. At the same time, the only other place in Las Vegas with something similar to this is Shanghai Taste in Chinatown. Their pan-fried pork buns are smaller, but pack a lot of flavor for $7.95 for 4 pieces. The chicken and green beans were OK. The green beans weren't cooked as long as I would've liked it, as the green beans were still quite crunchy. These green beans are deep-fried prior to stir-frying and can end up soft yet crunchy, which is ideal. The chicken was not bad, kind of reminds you of chicken from Panda Express. A better place to experience this dish without chicken is at SK seafood on Spring Mountain. You can get string beans with minced meat that's much tastier for $9.88, instead of $13.99. Finally, the spicy pork intestines appear. Good flavor, clean intestines, and the garnish with spicy green and red peppers were great. The only flaw with this dish is the price. $17.99 for pork intestines is just crazy. At SK seafood, you can get the same dish but even better for $13.98. Simply eating at SK seafood with the main entrees would save you approximately $8.00. The rice deal here is you get one bowl of rice per entree, and an extra bowl of rice is $1.65. If you go to ANY authentic Chinese restaurant, rice is free and unlimited. What the Hey????? Mr.Chopstix has decent flavors, but WAY, WAY overpriced and too nit-picky about pricing. For any standalone authentic Chinese restaurant, white rice is unlimited with dine-in. The fact that extra rice costs that much is just insane. I understand that prices increase during the pandemic, but the rice did not jump that high to justify the price. read more

Mr. ChopStix is serving up some authentic Chinese food. It's a combo of Taiwanese /Northern Chinese dishes similar genre of food as Shanghai Taste but no XLB on the menu. Popcorn chicken was moist and flavorful. The steamed dumplings were huge and the filling packed with flavor. The wrapper was a little thicker than what I like but filling made up for it. We ordered the pork and chive version but they have several different filling options including beef or veggie. We also ordered the scallion pancake which came crispy and flaky just the way we like it. My husband really enjoyed the pan fried pork buns. The star of the show was the crispy beef roll. I love this dish and very few places make it well in Vegas. The beef was generous and the wrap was flaky and crispy. Other places in Vegas have been kind of soft and mushy. The flavors were all muted and did not carry the punch you would expect. The spicy wontons lacked spice and heat. The service was adequate but nothing special. It appears to be a tag team approach and at least three people were available. The cost was a bit high for the quality and quantity of food presented.
