Seems legit in every way. They make a very tasty and very spicy hot pot soup. I asked for 8/10 spice and it was beyond my body's limit. They added some broth to cool it down and I was barely able to eat the veggies. I can't wait to go back and try the mild version. The spicy double fatty beef mixian (A6 on the menu) was pretty good! I had to add more salt to it but the underlying flavor was good. The noodles had good texture, it was chewy and didn't become soggy throughout the meal. Last time I got the spicy beef hot pot but that really was so bland. I had to add my own spices to make it taste better. Overall, underlying flavors are not bad but it's bland. The price is pretty standard and not overly expensive. read more

The broth is incredible and price is reasonable. The only thing that troubled me is the rice noodle - it is way too soft. It has been several times that I invited my local friends and Chinese friends to visit there because of the good broth, but we all thought the noodles was overcooked. We tried to ask them if we can order a tougher one, they were very impatient and unhelpful. Even they eventually promised to do that, we still got the very soft one the same as before. This place is brand new in Westwood so I wanted to try it. Online ordering on their website was super easy and they had it ready by the time I got there. I got B4 -signature beef sirloin with rice. Even the packaging was nice - the rice came in a removable plate above the sirloin and the sauce. I'm not the best was spice, so I contemplated getting the mild, but I just went ahead and got the regular. The regular was perfectly spicy, not too hot, but just enough heat to add to the flavor of the broth. The beef was so tender! The addition of the green and red peppers was a great match to the flavor of the soup! Overall, this was a great experience, and I definitely will be coming back! My husband and I pick up from Mr Rice every Friday for dinner. It's very yummy, and the food is always ready very quickly. The double chili Garry beef mixian is our favorite. The seaweed side dish and the Taiwanese sausage are really good side dishes. The sausage is very good, the only place in LA that sells this that I know of, and often sells out if you eat dinner late. Had one of their house specials, second item on the menu, a bowl of soup noodles, it was $10.99, $12.03 with tax, I gave the lady $15 and asked for a dollar back, I don't know if she was confused or what, she wanted more money, I hadn't even gotten my food yet! Anyways, the soup was great, the noodles were great, the string beans were below average, the peas were terrible (like eating split peas that have been half rehydrated, only they looked even worse)... Of course, this was during Covid, plus I think they opened just before Covid, so they've probably been having a horrible time, so I'm giving them 3 stars...replace those peas with some fresh veggies! read more

I was attracted to this new restaurant by the nice pictures posted online. Frankly, I was a little disappointed: I ordered the spicy beef soup. The flavour balance between spicy and salty was way off- the soup was spicy as advertised, but completely missed the salty flavour. Besides, I waited for over 30 min for my food to be served, and my wife almost finished hers by then. I was upset because there were not a lot of people in the store at that time. I usually love coming here because this place has undeniably good food and is usually pretty quick, but the service I received from my last trip was horrid. The server put two bowls of soup on our table (which were not what we ordered). After the server realized I did not speak Chinese, he pulled his phone out and tried to communicate with me through typing in Google translate. However, the translation was not good, and I could not understand what was being said. Every time I expressed confusion, he would roll his eyes and point to the bowls and get visibly irritated. At first, I thought they ran out of what we had ordered, so I asked if there isn't anymore kimchi (we ordered the kimchi noodle soup) to which he brought out a bowl of kimchi and told us to mix it in the soup. From here, I realized that there was a mix up with the table next to us, and he was trying to force us to eat their order instead of ours. He even went to the other table to grab their receipt and show us what they ordered, telling us to eat it. When I asked if we could just have what we ordered, he refused and kept insisting we eat their bowls. At this point, I was already embarrassing myself and did not want to disrupt other customers eating their meals, so me and my boyfriend just took the wrong orders, but the communication and refusal to get us our right order was unacceptable. He also was solely yelling at me and would not include my boyfriend (who had no idea what was going on--we think it's because my boyfriend doesn't look asian? lmao). My boyfriend also received the most bland bowl with hardly any meat in it, a huge contrast from the spicy soups we ordered. I'm in shock that a restaurant would refuse to take accountability for their mistake and not serve us what we ordered, especially when a lot of the stuff they serve is pre-made. This experience has deterred me from coming back for a while, but the food is good (unless they don't give you what you ordered lol), if you're willing to go through possibly inexplicable customer service. read more

The name Mr. Rice threw me off. I'm not much of a rice person so I didn't consider dining there. I thought they only served rice dishes. But on the 8th days staying at the hospital with my husband, I was running out of "noodle" dish options and decided to try Mr. Rice. I had Beef Kimchi Mixian. Oh wow! Super delicious! It's a comfort food when I'm away from home for so long. My all time favorite noodles! I can't wait to go back tomorrow! I dined in with my husband recently, and had a great experience at Mr. Rice. We ordered the tomato beef hot pot, the marinated seaweed, and the rose and Gogi berry tea. Everything was really good! The tea was super unique and al items were large enough to share (unless you are super hungry). The first time I went there ordered a medium spicy mala soup, that was not spicy at all! I had to add bunch of chilli oil myself. So second time when I came, I ordered a spicy mala soup, Jesus, that was the most spiciest thing I have ever tasted in my life.
