Stopped by Mr. Rice in Westwood today, 9/26/25 and had a great experience. The soup was delicious with really nice flavor, comforting and satisfying without being too heavy. What stood out just as much was the atmosphere; everyone was so friendly and welcoming, which made the meal even more enjoyable. It's the kind of place where you feel comfortable right away. I ordered the beef hotpot and opted out for noodles instead of rice. My friend ordered the kimchi soup and she really enjoyed her meal as well. They have plenty of tables inside for dine in. Ordering was a breeze on the tablet right at the front. What we really appreciated was the price point and generous portions. Definitely planning to come back and try more of the menu!

This was a nice meal on a rainy day. Mr Rice is pretty consistent. I find myself returning here from time to time and it's always been solid. I got the kimchi mixian which was tasty (8/10). Good portion size, sour, and a variety of veggies and other ingredients. They also have two types of kimchi that you can get (self serve) which is nice. In the past, I've had other mixians, and a beef rice dish, and they were all similar in quality. The service is great. The place is clean, and it's a comforting spot. I definitely recommend trying it if you're nearby.

This is great for westwood! When I miss my mom's cooking, i'd definitely come here. The service is really good and they help you with even the self service bar. I recommend the soup I got but the noodles are just a tad too mushy. Also really generous with the meat that I couldn't finish it and I like how fatty it is.

For parking, park in the Broxton Avenue public parking for free for 2 hours. Boyfriend took me to this place and ordered us the double chili fatty beef mixian. Pleasantly surprised by how good it was. It had somewhat of a szechuan taste due to the chili but not too overpowering, and the noodles and beef paired well with the broth. Free self-served kimchi and radish. Would go back again when I have the chance!

I really enjoyed the rice noodles--they're slippery with a nice bite, though they don't soak up much of the soup, so you'll need a spoon to get the full flavor with each bite. The broth itself is flavorful and well-balanced, with tomatoes adding a nice brightness to it. There's a good amount of ingredients to round out the dish. I especially liked the light-colored sauce they offer, which I believe is Szechuan pepper oil. It pairs perfectly with the hot soup, especially if you're into that tingly sensation. The service was fast, and the place has a cozy vibe.

I'm always in this area because I'm part of a dance team at UCLA but got tired of the typical places like chipotle, cava, and gogobop so I came in here with a few friends one day when we had a bit more time to sit down and eat. It's a pretty simple place, you go in and place your order on the kiosk, find a table, and then they bring your food out to you. There's lots of seating as it seems people like to usually do takeout here, and the food came out pretty quick. Everything is self-serve in terms of utensils and water. They have a pretty limited menu but everything is perfected and tastes really good. I tried the kimchi beef noodle soup and my friends got the tomato beef, all of them really rich and flavorful, plenty of protein and veggies, and the beef was really tender.

Tasty Yunnan noodles in Westwood! Yunnan noodles are kinda hard to come by in the US so this is a nice spot to have in LA. You first order through a kiosk and then sit down at the table. Water, utensils, and side dishes are self serve. They offer some condiments like chili oil, vinegar, soy sauce on each table. Service is very basic as they only bring you your bowl. Ambience could probably do with some background music. Now the food is really good. Noodles are very authentic and the broth is really great. I got the Double Chili Beef Noodles but I didn't really think it was that spicy. Prices are relatively cheap for Westwood but I've seen cheaper for Yunnan Noodles elsewhere. Very solid spot for food!

Self serve electronic menu when ordering. We got a table immediately. Friendly staff! The seaweed is not like the bright green seaweed salad, see pics.

Servers were SO AWESOME!! They are very kind and willing to help out. Food was great, and it was a home-y aesthetic. I would suggest eating here! Thank you to those who helped us out today, we appreciate you. God bless!

When you're jonesing for some rice noodles, Mr Rice is a very good place to get a fast bite of noodles. The soups are not too salty and the food is comforting on cold and rainy days. The dry noodles are also quite delicious. The portions are good. The cold appetizers are also solid, Chinese style pig ears, seaweed, beancurd with some mala sauce. You order at the front, fast casual style if you will. The do wait on your table and provide utensils and water and the staff is super friendly.

Yummy and authentic yunnan noodle soups! I love their tomato and beef one the most. I scooter off campus whenever I crave this spot and it's just so conveniently located at Broxton. Also the workers are super nice and treat you with such great care. I've ordered this both delivery and dine in and it's just SOO GOOD!!

The male waiter in the restaurant (thin, with glasses) sucks. Extremely terrible attitude. Yelling at the customers. Hope he get fired.

I ordered chicken rice for dinner. They just gave me something left from lunch, the chicken is barely warm and the rice looked dry.

One of the biggest reasons we come here is that kids 10 and under are half price, and everyone can make their own bowl just the way they like it. It's perfect since we all have different tastes. We've been to other shabu-shabu restaurants with bigger selections, but my kids actually prefer the vegetables and side options here. Everything feels fresh, and they always find their favorites. Another thing we really appreciate is that the fried dumplings and sesame bread are made fresh to order in the kitchen, so they're always served hot and crispy. Many other restaurants leave these items sitting out on the buffet, but here they're freshly prepared, which makes a big difference. The restaurant is also spacious, making it a great place for multiple families or larger groups. We never feel cramped, even when dining with friends and kids. After a beach day or coming home from a trip, this is our go-to spot for a warm, comforting meal. There's just something about a hot pot that hits the spot, and this place never disappoints. Fresh ingredients, thoughtful details, and a family-friendly atmosphere keep us coming back every time.

The host waved me in anyway since it was slow, and thank god, because this might be the best hot pot I've ever had. It's AYCE so you order meat to the table, and grab veggies and seafood from the bar. The meat is the whole reason to come. Lean, fresh, perfectly sliced, easily $70+ worth of quality anywhere else I go. I got the sukiyaki base and could not stop eating. Even the shallow pot won me over since everything cooks fast and evenly, with no digging around the bottom. Staff were super attentive, constantly topping off my broth and offering more meat. Veggies being included has ruined my old spots that charge extra for them. If you like hot pot, just go. I'll be back the second I'm anywhere near here. $2 to self-park & there's also valet, so bring a little cash. A bit of noise inside with families and large groups, but nothing too loud.

After they left, we were the only party there. It wasn't as busy as it used to be to be. After looking at their menu online, we saw that the lunch price ended at 3:30pm, so we got there before that time. When we were there, we were handed a new menu where lunch is from 11:00-3:00pm and dinner from 4:00-11:00pm. We were asked to pay the dinner price, The waiter just said his manager told him to tell everyone that, but the menu doesn't state the price between 3:00-4:00pm. The online menu also needs to be updated. As for the food, the hot food selection has gone downhill. Not as much variety as before. Mostly fried foods, not as much greens as before. The dessert selection was only oranges and a jello dessert. The meat was sliced super thin, so it wasn't chewy. I would say the service was just ok. One waiter was catering to us, but he was also busy doing other things in the kitchen. Would I come back here again, probably not. I just feel like everything should be transparent, so the trust is there.
