Went last night with my mom for Mother's Day. We loved it. We had a hard time deciding and almost ordered the $45 2-lb special for the great value but opted for a pound of the king crab ($80/lb.) as a Mother's Day treat, as well as a pound of the easy peel shrimp ($22/lb. I think), plus two ears of corn and a potato. We got so much food, I'm fairly certain that they gave us more than a pound each of king crab and shrimp. I'm also certain that a similar seafood boil place in LA that I used to frequent gave us LESS than a pound at our last visit, making me appreciate Mr Claws that much more. We were very happy that we got the king crab, it's expensive but the best and worth it! Plus watching Deadliest Catch gives me a greater appreciation of what goes into crab catching. We got two thick leg parts and two thinner leg parts. We ordered the garlic butter with mild seasoning. It was still way too spicy for me. Next time I will say no seasoning, just the garlic butter. We had leftover shrimp because there were about 30-40 large pieces. I tried to count but it was too late. We would have been fine with less shrimp but they don't sell the shrimp, clams, mussels or crawfish for less than a pound. So I think I'd order the same way next time if it's just for two, although get no seasoning next time. Also, the service was excellent. They have a frequent diner program too, $5 off per $100 you spend. I joined even though I don't live in the desert. I'm sure we'll come back next time I visit my mom. read more

The service was good and the ambiance was nice, a little different. The crawfish was horrible. If you eat crawfish regularly this will make sense. The crawfish was boiled in what tasted like just water and then it was tossed in their sauce. The meat of the crawfish tasted like dirt, the flavoring that was put on it had really good flavor but it didn't penetrate the shell causing a really bad taste. Saw on yelp that the place was open till 8:30 on a Saturday night. Not busy on the yelp site. When we got there parking lot was empty and the open sign was blinking "OPEN" in the window. We got in and chairs were up and a guy was mopping the floor. We asked if they were open. He called a girl in the back and she said they were closed. Very disappointed. My brother, who was with us and lives in Palm Springs, that this happens a lot and probably they weren't busy and decided to close early because of the heat. Definitely like how it's not too heavy and I didn't feel terrible afterwards like I do with most places in Orange County.
