Let's start with the service. The server seemed like she didn't care to take our order at all. After 15 minutes of waiting for our order to be taken we waited an additional 1 hour for food to come out. But by then we already decided we weren't waiting any longer. At the very second we get up to leave the server brings our chips and salsa for the wait. Why did we have to wait an hour just for some chips and salsa. She also told us the food would be right out after 30 minutes of waiting. This restaurant has no respect for anyone's time and convenience. The area by where we were sitting smelt awful. Maybe put the dirty dishes and trash away from the customers. Going downhill very fast. Next time acknowledge when the kitchen is behind so customers can be aware of a long wait on food. My wife and I were playing tourist in our own backyard and ended up looking for a place to have lunch when we came across Mrs. Olson's on Harbor Blvd in Oxnard. We've been to the free monthly concerts in that area but had never eaten at any of the cafes or restaurants. Mrs. Olson's was a nice surprise! We just made it before they closed at 2:00. We ate outside with a beautiful view of the Harbor. We both had the three taco lunch. Three different fillings: a beautifully lightly deep fried cod, one with chicken and the other with tri-tip. Came with a salsa verde that was just a little spicy but delicious. The Pico de Gallo also top notch. We had to ask for that since it didn't come with the tacos. Some of the best tacos we've ever eaten. Our server was friendly and accommodating when we asked for the Pico salsa. Mrs. Olson's serves breakfast and lunch only and is opened seven days a week from 7:00 am until 2:00 pm. read more

Our trip started out on a Friday morning, and headed on towards our first destination, Solvang / Lompoc on good ol' PCH.  We weren't in any hurry so we took our time driving through Santa Monica, Malibu and Oxnard before stopping for brunch at Mrs. Olson's Coffee Hut with a view of the Channel Harbor.  The restaurant itself, is kind of hard to find, but if you park in the parking lot (which is free by the way) and head towards the front of the little shopping center you will find it.  Anyway, it is a cute little place with a Tiki vibe to it.  The service was amazing, the portions were large and the food was delicious! I settled on the traditional eggs benedict while my husband got the tri-tip chili relleno omelette, both of which were amazing! It had to be one of the best meals we had on this trip. read more

The service and food are great! When you walk in it looks like some old dive bar, but once you head outside they have spacious tables set out overlooking harbor. I do have to say the sand pit was my "eh" but that's my personal preference since I wasn't sure what to expect from joint as first timer. Used to like this place...great food, servers who'd been there forever...but the guy who owns it now is a sour, rude guy who cares nothing about keeping the place sanitary and cares less about customers. Between his very late night, sometimes unintelligible, (possibly drunken, I don't know for sure) rants on Facebook and his refusal to comply with safety recommendations during a serious and deadly worldwide pandemic, I don't trust the restaurant he runs. I had doubts about the place even before Covid...mold all over the place, leaks in the restrooms, liquid dripping from the ceiling...yeah, I was kinda done then. WOW talk about SERVICE with a smile and great food!! Being the 4th of July weekend they were busy but due to our non preference of inside or outside table the 50 minute wait was like 10 minutes. This is one of my go to breakfast spots. I always leave here with a happy tummy. A side of Biscuits and Gravy is always a must for me. It's enough to share if you just want a taste. This time we ordered the Chilaquiles. The taste and crunchiness of the chips was delicious but topped with an overly excessive amount of cheese. I had the Potato plate that had cubes of ham and topped with 2 eggs that I had made medium over easy. I have seen how much your reviews have damaged a business. This is a local business people. Yes the owner finally sold it, owner came into Town and changed the inside. He also took off some stuff after menu. But then COVID-19 hit and some of the suppliers are behind or don't bring the same thing because their suppliers can't. Such as the crab omelette the crab changed. They want to bring it back but in order to bring it back they have to race up the price. I say go for it. They also tried a cheese blitz that was amazing but also didn't bring it back. Yes the food was great and hasn't been that good but let's give them a chance to bring everything back. We went to Mrs. Olsen's Coffee Hut this morning for brunch. As we came in our favorite waitress, Olivia greeted us by name. We ordered what we always get, chicken fried steak with eggs and potatoes. They have the absolute best potatoes, and biscuits and gravy. Everything was wonderful, and I even brought home leftovers. Delicious! I highly recommend this restaurant, the service is fantastic and we feel like we belong here. This is a bit out of the way from us, 100 miles round trip, but well worth the drive. read more

The food was good. Some employees were really very nice to us. Our waitress didn't seem to fond of us, maybe because we were a big group? We chose this place because it's by the harbor, and the variety of Eggs Benedict they have on the menu. (The Eggs Benedict were delicious.) The staff was wearing shirts with what looked like a sniper's view of small businesses which was a little odd and negative. But this is 2021, dealing with the pandemic, and they're expressing something about its impact on them I'm sure. The wait was long. Not sure I'll go back. But again, the food did taste good. All sorts of recognition! Like Rachel R. said, though, I never even heard of this place til yelp came along and I've been in Oxnard so long, that I graduated from the OLD Oxnard High School. Well, it's about time we see what the fuss is all about. Cozy little place is located in Hollywood Beach, Oxnard. Came on a weekday morning... so, easy parking and we seated ourselves. Friendly greeting as we enter. Girls running the deck were easy to interact with and attentive. We ordered a few items from the menu. CORNED BEEF HASH & EGGS: Was told hash came from a can then fixed up. It was tasty, prepared the way I requested it, and a pretty hefty quantity at that. Eggs were over medium just the way I wanted them. Got them with fresh tomatoes instead of potatoes (less carb load) and it was still quite filling. Good stuff! VEGGIE OMELETTE (ADDED FETA CHEESE): Large omelette impressively stuffed. Flavorful. Came with a big portion of red potato chunks that looked seasoned but tasted bland. KIDS PANCAKE STASH (ADDED FRUIT): We got the pumpkin version. That was really DELICIOUS! Thin, light, & fluffy. 3 pancakes was a lot for the li'l one, which only means more for me! Definitely get that again. Shout out to Brittany for hookin' up the "birthday candle' for my baby boy! That was a great moment! Overall, a really enjoyable morning there. Such a loooong wait. Dropped by for brunch Monday morning at 10:30am. Should note it was Memorial Day weekend. After putting our name down, we waited a solid hour to be seated. Parking isn't too bad, couple spots upfront and residential street parking. Inside it's warm, cramped, and loud. The walls are plastered with funny, sassy pictures and posters making for an entertaining read. My build your own omelette was pretty good. Lots of stuff inside and cheesy. Not a fan of the potatoes though, wish they did hash browns. While portion size was relatively big, I still ate the whole thing. Also sampled the banana pancakes which were really good. I have been wanting to go to this place since my sister lived here in the 90's. I finally got my chance to go. The ambiance and view was absolutely beautiful. Everything on the menu looked absolutely delicious. I usually rate a new restaurant by how good their biscuits and gravy are. These were not your traditional biscuits and gravy. They layered the biscuits first, then the eggs and bacon and smothered it with gravy on top. So insanely good. And let's talk about Ms Olsens potatoes.....so damn delicious. Immediately the host said its full even though there were 4 tables available. With a no mask policy who the hell cares about distancing. To my surprise they sat every caucasian guest in the outdoor seating area and every non caucasion indoors. Do your self a favor and notice all the positive comments are from the same crowd of people as well. White Power and supremacy is still strong and thriving here. When I asked the host I thought the outdoor area was full, she said they had reservations. When we first went in they never asked if we had reservations. Holy shit what a shocker lol. What a load of bull. Your breakfast joint has less than 50% capacity full on a Saturday morning with the worst service I've ever seen. I used to love Mrs Olsons, however recent years proven not to be the same. The long lines and waitstaff seem to be the only thing that has stayed the same, the food however has declined in quality. I'm not usually one to complain, however, here's what the problem is: we sat at our table and nobody came to take our drinks for a while (maybe about 10-15 mins after we sat down). Not a huge deal because they are busy. Next issue came with the meal, 2 things: 1) I asked for hash browns yet got a regular unseasoned potatoes (whatever) but not the end of the world. I don't eat pork or other pig products either due to religious purposes so I specifically asked for no meat. When I received my food I took a couple bites and noticed that they had included small pieces of bacon in my meal. I would've have recommend this place before 2020 but would not do so now. read more
