My order is always taken promptly, I'm always given an exact time when it will be ready, the order is packaged tightly and properly, and the food has always been amazing. I swung by Mugs Pizza and Ribs on my lunch break and decided to use the drive-through. They took my order right away, but then I sat in line for about 12 minutes--it honestly would've been faster to just go inside. The reason I chose not to go in was because the restaurant looked kind of dirty. Old is fine, but this just looked unclean, so I figured I'd grab my food and eat it somewhere that felt cleaner. I ordered an 8-count of boneless tenders and a slice of pepperoni pizza. The tenders were very good--crispy and flavorful. Unfortunately, the pizza was absolute garbage. The cheese was bad, the pepperoni was bad, and the slice definitely wasn't worth $4.99. Honestly, I should've known just by looking at the place that the pizza wasn't going to be good. This was my first experience here, and between the long wait, the dirty feel of the restaurant, and the awful pizza, I don't plan on coming back. read more

Terrible customer service. We came in with our grandchildren for lunch. Both kids ordered small pizzas, which I thought were kid pizzas since no prices were listed on their menu board. Instead of suggesting a larger pizza 1/2 and 1/2, and saving $10, the employee took the kids order. I paid and noticed the prices minutes later. When I asked the employee why he didn't suggest a different option he said it wasn't his job. The bigger issue is the disrespect and smugness from the employee. I took one look at my slice of pepperoni pizza and my heart sank. You see, I got my hopes up when I found out Mugs sells pizza by the slice. But you can't judge a book by its cover, nor a pizza by it's initial appearance. Here is what I found once I got under the toppings... Crust (5+/5). I took one bite of my pizza and I couldn't believe my mouth. The crust was perfect. This thin crust had cornmeal on the bottom, and that gritty feel and taste was cooked to perfection! Sauce (5/5). It's hard to describe, but there was very little sauce. It tasted understated, but perfect. Cheese (5/5). The cheese was full of wonderful oregano and other Italian spices. And there was dark, delicious grease running down my fingers. Pepperoni (3/5). My slice was loaded with pepperoni, but it was too thin and did not taste as good as I wanted it to. Mugs gets 0 points for healthy, vegan, or organic fare, but this is one of the best thin crust slices of pizza I've ever had! The outside of the store looks like a war zone, and the inside isn't much better. But you don't go to Mugs for the ambiance, you go for the pizza : ) read more

I have been going to mugs since they only had 1 location on central and wolf. This time we decided to order out. I won't lie it was the worst experience ever. Food shows up cold. The cheese for the fries had to be stirred. I love this place but maybe they shouldn't be opening more n more locations and focus on what is going out the door. read more

Painful to do this, I do not like to bash working people. I just had the worst sausage and beef combo I've had in 60+ years of eating in and around Chicago. Flavorless "beef" looked like they went across the street to Aldi to use lunch meat roast beef; the au jus was water, the giardiniera barely registered as spicy, the sausage tasted more like breakfast pork sausage than real Italian sausage (which has fennel seed in it). The fountain drink was obviously watered down. Served on wax paper that was so cheap, it DISSOLVED into the sandwich. Gross. I don't know the conditions of the business; perhaps it's just too expensive to serve food of the same quality as pre-2010, perhaps the suppliers don't even offer it to restaurants anymore. But for almost $30 for two sandwiches and two drinks, this was utter garbage. It would have been awful for 1/3 of that price. Or for free. I had pleasant memories of Mugs in Des Plaines.. One of the only restaurants open late in AH. There is a huge menu with so many items as you enter the front door. Loved the cheese burger and strawberry milkshake! The strawberry milkshake was as good as Portillo's. Fries were soggy. They sell pizza by the slice. There are tables and benched seating inside with 2 TVs, and some outdoor seating/tables. My sister's friend introduced us to Mug's, always getting their yummy pizzas for parties. She recs the eggplant parm, which we need try next time. Can't go wrong here. Italian beef on garlic bread is amazing. Get hot peppers on the side so you can control the heat.

Honestly I am not a fan of the deep dish pizza compared to others but my husband enjoys it. My ultimate favorite is definitely the chicken tenders! DELIVERED THE WRONG PIZZA... We ordered a BLT pizza and substituted ground beef for bacon. When we opened the box it was plain cheese and ground beef. I then called and they told me that mayonnaise does not come on the pizza and all they could offer us was 20% off our order. I then checked THEIR menu and it did indeed include lettuce, tomato, mayo and bacon which we received none of. I was put on hold, and they ignored my call again. When they finally answered the best they could do was offer us $10 credit before hanging up on me. So very unprofessional and rude! It was the fishiest calamari I have ever tasted in my life and triggered my gag reflex immediately. I politely let the girl behind the counter know and she asked what else my daughter wanted and we looked for something else. But when I came back to the counter the manager was standing there and out of nowhere was extremely aggressive and combative. His behavior was not only rude it was offensive and I was completely taken aback. I kept my composure at first and explained I thought it may have been expired or something but he raised his voice and said "You get what you pay for and I'm not giving you anything for free....in a threatening manner! I have been in the restaurant industry for 25+ years and never have I ever seen any employee behave that way to a customer completely unprovoked. We loved mugs so much that we have them cater not one but two parties. I used to own an Italian restaurant and I'm really fussy about carry out Italian food. The food was outstanding! The beef was some of the best I ever had, the fried chicken was cooked to perfection and let's talk about their signature potato's, they were so good that they should be illegal! I'm staying with 5 stars, seems like all the unhappy posts are due to deliveries. I'm old school, phone it in and pick it up. I must back up a few days, Thursday went thru the drive thru, ordered the meatball sandwich. It was very delicious. Toasted bread, 3 big meatballs in a marinara sauce. Tonight we ordered a large sausage pizza. It appears they go heavy on the cheese,each slice is heavier than two of the local competitors north of this location. Pizza came out on time, the counter help was very pleasant. No complaints from us. Definitely will be back again for pizza. Going to try the Vinnie special on our next visit. read more

Burgers- okay, thanks to the bun, but a 1/3lb plain burger is not worth $9. Cheesy Italian beef was very good, thinly sliced and juicy. Gyro Burger was good. Shakes (chocolate and strawberry) were blah - hardly any flavor, powdery. Wings - tiny and sauce comes on side. It's just Mugs hiding under a different name. We've stayed away from the Des Plaines location because of bad food, and most likely wouldn't have stopped here if the sign said Mugs. Sign on Rand just says Grill - didn't know until going in and seeing the menu. First and probably last visit to this location. read more
