Great place for lunch. Came sunday on opening and there was no wait. Parallel parking available in the side streets. Food here was a great deal. 20$ for soba and a mini chirashi bowl. For two people the total came out to under 60$ for lunch specials. Portion sizes were just enough.

Great find on YELP! My sister and I were looking for a spot on Melrose, and so glad she found this one. So many selections and specials to choose from - great prices, good portions - everything was delicious! Sashimi combo was so fresh and came with miso soup, salad, and rice. The Japanese breakfast special had several options - Japanese omelet, spinach, fried collar, pickled veggies rice, salad, miso soup, and agedashi tofu. (My sister just got back from Japan and said the Breakfast was authentic and just like how they served it over there.) Everyone was also so friendly - will definitely be back soon! 10 out of 10 for me! Enjoy.

This quaint sushi spot is incredible. You can taste the freshness of the food. We found a parking spot a short walk away. When we entered, we were greeted and seated promptly. We always start with some cold filtered sake and nigiri. Off to a great start. Very large pieces of fish on the nigiri. We ordered several rolls including the Omg. Red Dragon, Dragon, Snowman, Typhoon and Caterpillar. I don't know which was the best. Seriously, they were all that good. We finished with some baked green mussels. Yummy! Amazing, friendly and fast service. Overall, a top notch experience!

Lovely little spot with helpful staff. Started with delicious garlic edamame in light soy sauce. Sushi selection was fresh and vibrant. And the baked salmon plate which was huge and perfectly cooked. The very best I've ever had. I'm coming back!!

Great service and well priced sashimi for the area. Nice restaurant with a covered outdoor patio.

Food: 3.5/5 Service: 3.5/5 Ambiance: 3/5 We got the sashimi omakase and the cuts were yummy but soo thin and tiny. I think it was like half or a third of the normal size sashimi's I'm used to. If you are used to paying a fixed price, beware if you order "omakase" which quite literally means you trust the chef, you are in their graces to receive the best cuts at the price the chef sets. You might be surprised at the bill if it's much more than you planned for, but you also risk being pleasantly surprised by the cuts, so it's definitely a win-win for some! I knew what I didn't like, so I told the head chef (Taro) in advance and he accommodated for my preferences :) Parking situation is quite tough--you can either find street parking a few blocks down or just do valet next door for $7! All in all, the omakase was delicious indeed, though the price was quite steep. We were soo hungry afterwards that we had a second meal elsewhere but I certainly do not regret coming here!

Delicious food, and great service from the staff at Murakami. Great location to shops.

In the area looking for a good spot to eat & I came across Murakami. I went as soon as it opened in the evening & had a great experience! The service was great & the sushi was incredible! I went in with zero expectations and left so pleasantly surprised. The price is reasonable & everything I had was delicious! They have a garlic soy sauce that was so yummy too! If you follow them on IG you get a free order of their edamame. I would definitely return for the nigiri alone. Highly recommend!

Murakami has been on my list for quite some time and I decided to stop by for a lil sushi pick me up. I ordered omakase and a rich man roll. This was my first time ordering omakase and it exceeded my expectations. Every piece of nigiri was made with love. I thoroughly enjoyed the rich man roll as well. Amazing service, amazing food. Definitely a must try.

I think I've been coming here for a very, very long time--probably for about 20 years! I used to come here quite often back then. At some point, though, I stopped coming as much because the parking situation in this shopping center became so busy and chaotic that it was difficult to even get in from the entrance. Also, the last time I came here, maybe two years ago, the valet parking attendant was so rude that I didn't really feel like coming back. This time, since we were already in the area for the spa, we decided to stop by again. Back when I first started coming here, it was just a very small noodle restaurant. One thing they've kept all these years--and what I think is such a great touch--is that they still serve yeolmu kimchi and kkom-bori-bap (barley rice) as a complimentary side. The restaurant became incredibly popular over the years and eventually expanded into the neighboring space, so there are now many more tables than there used to be. Since it had been such a long time since my last visit, I noticed they had quite a few new menu items that weren't available before, including galbi-jjim (braised short ribs), samgyetang (Korean ginseng chicken soup), and galbi noodle soup. One of my brothers and I ordered the perilla oil makguksu each, and it was absolutely delicious! It had such a rich, nutty flavor from the perilla oil, and it was one of those dishes that makes you think about it again later. In the past, I would always order the clam kalguksu whenever I came here, but this time I decided to try something different. My other brother ordered the clam kalguksu, and my mom had the dolsot (Hot stone) bibimbap. I tried a spoonful of my mom's dolsot bibimbap because I really like bibimbap too, and it was delicious as well. In the past, the wait here used to be incredibly long. You had to write your name and phone number by hand at the entrance, and then a staff member would come outside and call your name when your table was ready. This time, the system was different. We were told to simply wait in line, and she would take our orders outside. She said the wait would only be about 5-10 minutes, and she was absolutely right. While we were waiting in line outside, she handed us menus, took our orders, and then seated us at our table. The food came out quickly, the service was very friendly, and everything we ordered was delicious. It turned out to be a very satisfying dinner. After coming back here again after such a long time, I completely understood why this place has been so popular for so many years. It was just as popular back then as it is now, and honestly, I can see why!

On top of that, the interior is clean, cute, and very well-kept. Parking is quite limited, though--even with valet service, it gets super congested. There's almost always a long line, as it seems like a must-try spot for anyone visiting LA. Because of that, getting a table is usually pretty tough, but we got so lucky last Sunday and were seated right away. The food was absolutely divine, and we left completely satisfied. Honestly, I almost wish fewer people knew about this place so I could come more often. They're just that good.

I ordered the spicy tonkotsu and loved the flavor, especially the chashu. I'm usually a pork belly person, but the chashu was so flavorful that I genuinely think I'll start choosing it instead from now on. Everything came out piping hot, which normally sounds like a compliment, but it was almost too hot to comfortably eat. Weirdly, we actually enjoyed the leftovers even more reheated at home. I do wish I'd tried the thicker noodles, but paying an extra $3 just to switch noodle styles felt a little ridiculous. We also tried the gyoza, which were good, but I wish they had come with a more traditional soy-based dipping sauce instead of already being dressed in chili oil. I'd definitely come back, especially to try the dipping ramen. I'd never had tsukemen before, and it sounded so good that I was already regretting not ordering it by the end of the meal.

Overall the ramen isn't bad, chashu is nice and fatty and tender. Ramen is rich and filling. It's nice that it already comes with an egg too and you don't have to add another one. Lots of other side dishes and combos too if someone in your party doesn't want ramen. However, with the increases in prices, the fact that there's many other options in LT, and the fact that there are other Daikokuya locations, it's an alright LT option.
