Two stars because the service was fine. But the one thing I require from a sushi place is to ensure the fish is clean and not spoiled. That wasn't the case here for lunch. Only writing this because the reviews were already super mixed and I wish I had this type of review to help me avoid a $21 lunch (small portion) with tuna sashimi that had a tinge of spoiled smell. As it came up to my nose, it smelled a little off but I decided maybe it was in my mind. The taste sealed the deal as it had a bit of sour to it. I spit it out and hoped for the best that evening. I left most of it there. Again, I'm good with restaurants not being on top of their game, especially where staffing could be running short, but a sushi place needs to have fresh fish at ALL times, without compromise to ensure safety. Stopped by after going to the DMV, didn't expect to be blown away but wow. This was some of the best sushi I've had. The fatty tuna and salmon is amazing. The restaurant is super slow. Ordered online and promised to be ready in 35 minutes. Arrived on time and the restaurant was so messy. A line was there for walk in orders, but no obvious place to pick up. I had to catch the waitress while she was not taking orders to not act like I was cutting in the line. Then I had to keep waiting in the restaurant for another 40 minutes to pick up my order. Guess what? I went to the back of the cashier and found that my order was ready sitting there for a long time. Outrageously good, straightforward traditional sushi, very much Japanese style. It is all about the quality of the fish and the clean preparation. They excel at this. Im staying in Redmond for a work trip. Decided to give this place a try for dinner since its in walking distance for my hotel. Customer service is very welcoming and friendly! Online order said it would be ready in 15 minutes. I was really excited; things would work out perfectly - grab food, eat/feed kid, bathe kid, bedtime. Arrived at the store twenty minutes later, food wasn't ready yet... Sure are a lot of people waiting for their to-go orders... 30 minutes, not ready. 40 minutes, a lady asked for a refund because she had to go. 50 minutes, no food. 55 minutes, food. Got home an hour later than expected. Kid is down, but cranky wife. Cranky life. Food was good though. Factoria location seems to have things sorted out. Just found out this open in Redmond (used to go to Factoria) and gave it a try. My order was just ready when I arrived. Drove home (15 min) to enjoy. Fish size look small. Noticed red stain on rice under tuna pieces (I think the fish were pre-cut awhile ago and they just put/arrange on rice to serve). Disappointed. Plan to give 1 star but accept credit card at this location so give extra star. read more

OMG! I can't believed they opened one in my neighborhood. Hooray, no more driving to Factoria or International District. The freshness and amount of fish on the Chirashi is comparable to the other Musashi's. Two things different about the Redmond branch is that they charge an extra dollar for the Chirashi and they take credit cards. I was told they only take credit card which is hilarious as the other branches only take cash or check. Even though the Chirashi is an extra dollar here, it is still the best price around. read more

I ordered ahead on a holiday weekend and got the chirashi bowl and the unagi. The chirashi bowl was filling and fish was fresh. The unagi was good but there were more bones than to my liking. Best sushi in Redmond! We got the seared salmon it was huge! And yummy and fresh. Yaki onigiri or grilled rice balls was SO GOOD I could eat just those by themselves. Veggie roll was good too. Enjoy Musashi from Bellevue and Wallingford, but decided to try out this new musashi in Redmond! They told me to expect 40mins for the order (which was fine for a Saturday night), got there after 40mins to be told that they needed 10 more mins. Not a bigge. But after 10mins, walked in and was told that it was almost done... and probably waited 10 more mins... anyways got my food and headed home. Only to find that my order was wrong, ordered salmon/avocado roll but it was just salmon roll. One of my chirashi was personalized and that came wrong. Asked for tamari - didn't receive. He asked how many chopsticks I needed (and I said three) but I didn't get any... The food itself was good, just... the wait and missing orders were disappointing. read more

It's not high brow stuff, but it's very competent at this price point. It hits the spot every time when there's a craving for sushi. We've been eating at Musashi's for over 2 decades since they were at their original location in Wallingford with the very intense and sweaty chef who yells in Japanese, and these new owners have been able to more or less carry on the food for the most part over the years since.
