I recently moved from the Valley to WLA and just thinking about the packing and all the moving had caused me so much headaches. I realized that I would rather have someone do it for me. I looked around and I found American Movers through Yelp and I am glad I did! They are fast and reliable. The only problem is they don't speak English that well. Also, I noticed that they were driving really slow at first. I waited for them on the freeway and they were driving like 20-30 miles on the fwy 405. Dude, who does that? Just beware of the traveling time guys because they charge double for it. That'll be all folks. =) read more

Besides them showing up late due to engine trouble, the movers did a great job moving my mom out of one residence. But when they moved her to her new place, they scratched the wood flooring in numerous places. We have waited for months for them to take care of it. Still waiting! This moving company called me to solicit business, yesterday. And I asked the person who called me where they got my number from she simply said "a realty list." She told me that I was moving and stated the incorrect city that I'm moving from. I called back this morning. Considering that this was a business that called me having a receptionist answer the phone "Hello?" is unprofessional. I had to ask her if I reached the correct number for their moving company, then she said yes, so I asked specifically which list they got my name off of. The woman who picked up the phone said "MLS, your house is for sale." I made sure to tell her how inappropriate it is to use my information for soliciting business. My phone number is not listed on any public listing forum. Whomever gave them access to my phone number definitely has me feeling like they violated my privacy. Anyone interested in purchasing my house has my realtor's number, not mine. I will be definitely following up with this. The number the caller ID had was from (818) 539-7575. read more

I was given a written quote for my move from California to Arizona on 9/21/15. My deposit was paid and my move was scheduled for 11/19/15. One week before my move, My American Movers, Inc sends me an email stating the owners of the company will not honor the price quoted and they needed to increase it by almost double (from $4000 - $7500). Now I'm scrambling to find another mover with only one week to work with. Very very unhappy right now! read more

This review is long overdue. About two years ago we used this company. We were given a quoted price of $700.00 that was way less than what we ended up paying. The guys arrived late, took way too long, had three guys but only two helped. The other guy just stayed with the truck. When I tried assisting, one of the guys got very upset and forbid me from helping to move my own stuff. We finally paid over $1000.00 due to the extra time they took. I went with this company because of all the GREAT reviews here, What a MISTAKE that was!!!! I have moved before and it has never taken more than 7 to 8 hours. And this time it took over 12 hours and cost me double than what I had budgeted for. My bed was not put back together the correct way, my sons bed was not put together stable, that I had to put it together myself. Broke the ceiling fan doom, broke a leg on a night stand, because they push and pulled everything. I think what bothers me the most this the fact that at the end of night I got told my couch would not fit and they need to go, because they were off the clock now, but if I wanted to tip them they would stay longer to get the couch in. AMAZING when I told them to take the front door office the couch fit. I will would not use this company and I would be very leery of them. Again I never expect to have to pay double for my move, what a ripe off!!!!! And they didn't even move everything into the house that I need moved in I had to do it. very DISPOINTING MOVE!!!! read more

Doesn't want to give even 1 star. We used its service two times. The first experience was OK, but we had A LOT of problems on our 2nd moving. At the end of the transaction at that time, we all happy and gave a lot of tips for the crew's hard work. BUT found out they took our tools(2 Hammers and screw drivers) and lost our refrigerator label and handle screw knob. I claimed but haven't processed yet. Also I found out one of our box is missing which has my sewing machine tools which I can't claim it now. Do not use this company and Do not trust the movers. read more

I have used My American Movers twice because of these 3 reasons. 1. Gili, manages her move times well, and she has worked with me even on a short notice. She's very pleasant and fun to talk to-- and yup she's fast! Just how you want your business done. She even picks up her phone at 10:30 pm! Amazing! 2. The movers, I've done business with two of their teams and both of them are quick, on-time, efficient, pleasant, and really helps you out from packing down to unpacking. 3. I used them for a local and easy 1 BR apartment move a couple years ago (moving items into storage). I was left waiting for several hours beyond my scheduled moving time. I did not receive any phone calls notifying that the movers would be running very late, and I had to call the company myself to find out what was going on when I saw that no one showed well after my scheduled delivery time range. My entire day's schedule was destroyed, and received no compensation for the major inconvenience. Additionally, it seems that the company allowed my personal phone number to somehow leak because earlier in the day, I started receiving strange phone calls from a man who sounded like English was not his first language. It seems he was soliciting for inappropriate things as what he was saying made no sense, he was asking me if I was moving, and whether I was married, and kept repeating those questions with a dirty voice until I hung up on him. He continued to call my phone and I continued to ignore them until they finally stopped. When I mentioned this to the company that same morning on the phone, I was told that a couple of their other customers reported the same problem. I am giving 2 stars because despite the major issues, the job was finally done. I didn't need to face all that I did in order to have such a simple job done. Needless to say, I moved again a month later and went with a different company for the local move. If I ever have to make a similar move again, I'll use the other company, and not My American Movers. read more

They showed up 45 minutes after the 2 hour window of 7 - 9 am, with only 3 men of the 4 I requested. Nice enough guys but I could tell pretty quickly they were not the experienced types of movers I was used to getting. I had to come up with most of the ideas for efficiency. I was quoted $540 for my move, but it ended up over $2100 and took from 10 am to 4 am in the morning with my girlfriend and mom unpacking and me helping with the entire move. The foreman said he had been moving since 3 am the night before... so I am thinking he was tired and overworked. Maybe this time lines is standard operating procedure for this crew or company? Not sure. The main reason it took so long was the packing in my opinion. Since the client pays for all packing materials, the movers would use stacks of protective material to wrap around items like plastic cups and plastic spatulas where there was no chance of breakage and then almost every box used was covered with almost a whole roll of tape so that nearly the entire box looked like it was completely covered in tape. This tape job was done to almost all of the boxes. So this results in a tremendous waste of materials and time that is to passed on to the client to pack this way. Worse still, it takes far longer to unpack everything and to cut all the tape free to get your stuff out... and this leaves you with tons of unwanted packing material to discard. I worked the entire time with them, harder than any of the movers but I was doing runs in my truck while this packing and taping debacle was going on. They also stripped one of the screws on my bed and everyone struggled to put my kids beds and my bed back together again after the move. In the end several of the screws in my daughters bunk were missing. It was not sturdy at all enough to use so I had to buy a new one and my daughters have been on the floor since my move while I wait for a replacement bunk bed. Also, while they were overly cautious with things that didn't need to be wrapped as carefully like plastic wear, they were more lax with things that should be protected: i.e. throwing all my kids' room stuff with lampshades and other more delicate items in with toys so that a lot of stuff was ruined when I opened it back up. However, nothing valuable worth making a claim was ruined other than the ruined bunk bed..just lampshades and toys, but a couple things were missing like framed wall photos of kids. Either it broke and was discarded or left in the truck or something. I have no idea. Nothing appears to have been taken, so I think they were all honest. There were instance of cell phone usage for long personal calls, but I think that kind of thing is normal on a long day. The only one that bothered me was while laying on my 9 year old daughter's bed. The guys were actually very nice and I almost felt bad because they seemed over their heads on the move. I feel like moving crews should have several experience movers and maybe one or two new guys. This seemed like 1 guy with a little experience and two with none. They added a 4th and 5th later and only charged me for 4 which helped, and one seemed to have experience but possibly also overworked and tired. I have done many moves and used packing and moving services each time, and this was by far the worst experience I have had. I also got hit with a chair in the face trying to get the couch out of the truck because everyone was standing around staring at it, so I finally grabbed it and a chair was stacked on top of it fell and hit me. haha...good times. I thought my nose was broken but it was just cut and swollen. At least its over, and they did give me some discounts after arguing about it at the end. I felt kind of bad for them all because they seemed like they worked very hard but were possibly just too inexperienced as a crew and seemingly way overworked and overtired. For this reason I was tempted to give a 2 stars but then I remember just how bad the experience was, and remember that I am at home right now waiting for the replacement bed to arrive that I had to purchase. read more

Although it was a bit challenging moving a washer and dryer up to the 3rd floor of my new home, they were able to make it happen (with only a minor scratch on the wall)!! Recently I moved using My American Movers. I had used them for a local move almost two years ago. I had to move to Colorado Springs ans was assured that they do moves out of state. Not once did they mention that they contracted with Bekins for out of state moves. I would have used a long haul mover had I know that they used another company to move my belongings. Things went wrong fairly quickly. I kept stuff in storage until I arrived in Colorado. At the last minute they told me my load was larger than they had measured when their local truck moved my things to the warehouse. I am certain my load from the truck they moved me with originally got larger on the Bekins truck. They charged me for a larger load. My items did not arrive for two weeks after I moved. They did let me know that it could be late but that was based on Bekins schedule and not theirs. When my items were delivered there were many things broken. I have lived in six states and never had so much breakage. It was also clear that the boxes had been opened. Many things were missing including many of my son's toys. When Bekins based out of Denver arrived they refused to put anything into my apartment unless I gave them double the money. I did not have this money to spend as it was allocated for other bills. We essentially had a standoff. I ultimately gave in and got the money. Prior to the move I was told at least a dozen times that they would only a cashiers check from the post office or cash. I know understand why they would not take a credit card. I have no recourse and would have to travel twelve hundred miles each way to go to small claims court. Out of all of my moves, including one to Hawaii years ago, I never had this much damage nor have I ever had items stolen until this move. NEVER USE THESE GUYS FOR AN OUT OF STATE MOVE!! read more

The guys they brought worked hard the whole day and we're very courteous, however, they didn't bring a big enough truck for my local move so they had to make two trips. When I booked the move they assured me that they would be able/willing to pack anything that I wasn't able to pack. When the truck showed up they had no packing supplies so we were forced to go out and buy more boxes and do the packing ourselves while they carried stuff to the truck. They put a hole in the ceiling of my old place while carrying stuff out, scratched furniture because it was poorly protected and didn't fix it or offer to fix the hole or the furniture when we pointed it out. They didn't hook up the washer/dryer properly forcing me to pull them out myself and do it. I've dealt with other moving companies and had a much better/faster experience. This company was recommended to me by someone else because the company I usually used was booked. I would not recommend these guys to someone else. read more

BUNCH OF CROOKS!! Had a nice deal, at least it's what I thought considering that I could afford. Drivers came and insisted to use blankets for all the furniture otherwise they wouldn't take them. He wanted $400 to wrap everything. I was in between 2 rocks and I Started negotiating and I took the deal since it was the last minutes. The real deal was, ONLY to charge me for the tape not the blankets. Instead I got RIPPED by this dishonest employees. I talk to the manager about this matter. She was aware of this, and yet, nothing hasn't been done. I guess a some of the client experienced this also. I couldn't put in any positive feed back. I wish no STAR was available. Dear readers Do not be fooled by all the 5 star ratings you see on this sight. I feel this company is completly unethical. i was told 118 an hour for four guys, plus 9 percent fuel etc. I called the prior day to move to confirm that there will not be any hidden fees that im not aware of. I even wrote them down AGAIN. Gili assured me that the only thing she is not sure about is the shrink wrapping of glass items. Other than that the prices are what shes explained. Movers came i signed contract and there it was. The big screw i thought i had avoided. The boss mover said they HAD to shrink wrap EVERYTHING because i had such nice furniture. The china hutch and curio cabnet alone were going to be 85 bucks a piece to wrap, they had to wrap the pictures at 10 a piece etc etc. I said no i will not paty that he said they cant move me unless i do and they will do it all for 400 more. I said 350 he sadi ok. THEY KNOW YOURE HELD HOSTAGE TO GET OUT. they began loading and 30 minutes into loading the guy informed me that they charge time and a half for over 8 hours. WELL there ya have it. screw away. I said unload the truck im not paying it. i said call Gili i asked her about other fees, he said ok he will call her. He walked away came back and said ok they will do it w out over time. after the truck was half full the guy told me they will need another truck this one wont hold it all. OK now were talking double everything and my trip was 60 miles away. i said I WILL GET A UHAUL MYSElf. so i did, i emmediatly went and rented a uhaul and they loaded it. upon getting ready to shut the garage door i realized about a dozen pictures were still leaning against the wall. I said WHAT ????? they didnt even tell me, they were perfectly fine to drive off leaving my art work there in the garage. I said NO WAY you should have given me the option to remove something else off the truck to fit the art work. They managed to get it onto the bigger truck but all my gardening tools, decore, shovels, EVERYTHING form shed was left behind. Im so disapointed and disgusted. which by the way were all on drive way ready to load. They take advantage knowing you have to be out because your escrow is closed and new owners are going to move in. please do yourself a favor, Go onto facebook and ask your friends to reccomend someone they have used. Also glass table top got broken along w a corner group desk that was so damaged and when he put it together i dont know what screws he used but they went right throught the top of the desk. I told Gili i had a five bedroom 3,100 sq ft home. Why didnt they bring a bigger truck. as it was i left ALL my patio furniture bbq and swimming supplies, i sold with house. She didnt know that. What if i was taking them? I feel this company is a big scam and they are there to take full and complete advantage of you. Moving is the most stressful and exciting thing one can do. The initial time I used My American Movers for a move and storage, I thought they did a good job. It wasn't until a year later when I was moving again and they got my items out of storage that I was shocked and utterly disappointed. Not only did they loose several items of mine (1 of my 2 bedside tables, a side table, an expensive microwave) and damage others, they delivered items to me that were someone else's (a wood bureau, a computer monitor, vacuum and artwork). When I asked them to find my items or to give me the replacement cost for them, they said that there was not way they could have lost them, each item was numbered with "my number" on it and that they were placed into a secure marked storage area segregated for my items and my items only. I ask you, if that was truly the case, how did I lose several items and end up with other items not belonging to me. Here I'll note that the thing is that both my items and the items that didn't belong to me had the same stickers on them, #105. They were supposed to pick up the mis-delivered items several months ago and they still sit in my garage. This company is unreliable and has no accountability! I put a lot of trust into My American Movers and their team to keep my things safe. They still have yet to fix the situation! read more

This was by far the best moving experience we have had. The movers showed up on time, had a clean truck, and were ready to work. They were very polite, professional, and worked with care as they wrapped and moved everything. They even helped get my handicapped father to the car in his wheelchair, and up to his apartment when we arrived at the new address. There were no surprises at the end when we paid the invoice. If I could rate them less than 1 star I WOULD!! For the sake of your sanity and bank account DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! My family recently moved from LA to Reseda and made the worst mistake in using this company to do our move. They called me and convinced me to speak with their estimator after I had already made arrangements with another company to do our move. Their original quote was higher than the other company I had agreed to and so I told them no thank you, however the estimator told me that she'd price match by applying a military discount to our booking as my husband is a veteran. I agreed to go with this company thinking I had hit the jackpot as she talked like the quote was a flat rate inclusive of everything we needed and she spoke so highly of their company and everything they could do for us. I was emailed the move order and deposit form right away and she encouraged me to "click the e-sign" "click the e-sign" so I did before reading the fine print as she was rushing me to make my booking to reserve the spot. FOOL ME!! It turns out after our move that the fine print stated our quote was a per hour rate of $115/hr. The crew arrived late due to being stuck in LA traffic (which they should have accounted for) which pushed the commute time between locations back to 230-3pm in southern California traffic which extended the cost of drive time even further so our quote for $500 DOUBLED to almost $1000!! I was so appalled and no matter what I told the supervisor and manager they didn't budge. I was told by the manager that "the owners don't care about reviews. They said you signed the contract so charge her credit card". However, I must give credit where credit is due. The crew of 3 who came to do our move were absolutely delightful! They were friendly and courteous. They were the ONLY good thing about this move. read more

These people were excellent and the movers had a great attitude (much more can-do than the IKEA movers dropping off a dresser not long after). When there was to be a delay in my start time, they called me the day before (when the problem that caused the delay occurred) and informed me of the situation and also checked with me that we were still confirmed. When I had a problem one of the employees handled it expertly even though she wasn't at the office at the time (I had her number because she recommended their company to me - so she was the first employee I dealt with.) The move was supposed to start at 10:00, got rescheduled to 1:00 the day before due to the problem with the truck (I was well-informed) and then... then we come to the only reason this isn't a 5 star review. When the movers were held up at the job before me we were not informed of the change in plans. We called them when they were late. Then, and only then, did we find our movers were being held up at the job ahead of us. This is not a big deal as the concern was handled promptly. But when they were rescheduled to between 4 - 5 I was nervous. We had to be out that day and had a small but significant number of large items that would be nearly impossible to move ourselves on short notice. When I called at 4:30 to check things were still going as planned there was no answer and no machine picked up. That was very unsettling. That's when I called Ameera. Even though she wasn't at the office that day she kindly called around and got us some answers (another delay was occurring). She went above and beyond the call of duty and I hope if the owner sees this he or she gets her a nice fruit basket or pay raise for her trouble! The movers arrived at 6:00 and despite it being the end of the day were charged up and ready to go like it was the first move of the morning - despite the fact that day was HOT. They are to be commended! I only wish I'd thought to buy bottled water for them to drink while working. (Regarding the note about not speaking English: my crew foreman spoke English fine for any specific instructions, and the other two understood general instructions just fine. Communication was never a problem.) I understand that trucks have trouble (the first delay) and I also understand that in any customer service job (especially dealing with moving) delays can crop up. That's life; we have no problem with the delayed start. But not being able to so much as leave a message between 4 - 5 left us feeling stranded. I know sometimes the person who answers the phones needs to use the bathroom, but that's what answering machines and such are for. It was only because I'd met Ameera personally that we were able to find out what was happening. I can only assume many other customers might not be so lucky. 4 stars for excellent customer service and a great, professional attitude from the movers. These guys moved our office to a new location. The movers were professional and did a good job. My problem is with the hidden fees and costs. We were given an estimate for 4 hours @ $95/hour. The move ran long so they charged for 6 hours, understandable. Then they charged an extra $200 DOLLARS for packing materials, ie. their own reusable blankets and some plastic. Then once the move was finished, they refused to leave the property and kept the clock ticking until we gave them a credit card for the full amount which was now OVER TWICE THE ORIGINAL ESTIMATE. I was told to speak to the manager who insisted this was all disclosed in the original estimate. If it were, I would have budgeted $900 for my move instead of $400 so clearly it was NOT. I don't mind paying for good service when all the fees are laid out up front. This is shady and misleading and feels like we were taken advantage of. Our things were moved safely but I am not a satisfied customer and will not use My American Movers again or recommend them to anyone else. My American Movers is hands down the worst company I have ever worked with. The move went fine, but they are extremely disingenuous in their pricing and their customer service is worse than any company I have ever deal with. I was yelled at by them numerous times when trying to get to the bottom of their pricing scam and how they intentionally overcharge customers. I was charged an upfront fee of $400 twice and was charged approximately $800 for materials (cardboard boxes and tape) for my move. After double charging me $400 and yelling at me and telling me I was wrong initially, they eventually refunded the $400. On their second overcharge, which was for $300 because they added the materials costs incorrectly, they refused to give me a refund. They also charge a 9% fuel surcharge on top of all this - so if you pay $800 for your cardboard boxes and tape (which is ridiculous to start with), they charge another $72 for a fuel surcharge on the materials (which makes no sense). Whatever you do, do not ever move with My American Movers. Judging by the number of reviews that call out the exact movers names and say how great they are, I have to think the reviews are either fake or the customers are being offered a discount to write a 5 star review (after they intentionally overcharge you, of course). read more

I wanted six months after our move to write this review. I wanted to make sure people who read a bad review know it was not just some upset emotional response. I am someone who reads reviews before selecting a company. I will say that most moving companies are not upfront with costs in general. I am not sure you will find any company whose quote is accurate. We relocated from California to Pennsylvania. I have never moved across country. A dear friend used this company with a positive experience. They have a great BBB rating. I had a very pleasant experience setting up the move. The movers that picked up and delivered my furniture were professional and nice. All of my furniture was delivered with no damage. This is why they get 2 stars and not 1. However, they lied to me over and over. I have a child under 2, and packing up her life (toys highchair books etc) is a challenge. I am a planner, and wanted to set up the move so our furniture would arrive soon as we arrived in PA. The movers said there is no guarantee, but if we give them our furniture a month in advance that should not be a problem. We had our entire life picked up a month before we moved. We lived with family for a month so we could have our stuff when we got to our new home. Imagine moving across the country, and having nothing. No bed, no chairs, no dishes. We got here and the sales rep said it should be here in a week. Great, that is perfect. Then a week goes by and nothing. Oh no, they are leaving in a week, it will be there next week. Great, okay. Then another week, oh no your stuff hasn't even left California yet! After numerous phone calls I finally got a call from the manager (by now the wonderful sales rep who was quick to call me when booking the job barley returned calls) who said they are having a problem finding drivers to move shipments across the country. She doesn't know why the sales rep would tell me it would be there. They have no idea when my stuff will arrive. I am now 1 month in a new city, and a young child with nothing. Never mind that they have had my stuff for a month before all of this is happening. The contract states they have a month to deliver my furniture. 35 days after we arrived our furniture finally arrived in a rented U-haul van. This after countless phones calls! I had just retained an attorney to deal with the company when magically everything was finally on its way to us. This company lied and manipulated the truth. I gave an exact manifest of everything I was shipping before hand (OCD person here), and they underquoted the cubic feet by 50%. An extra $700 of cost. Of course this was not told to us until half of our stuff was loaded on the truck. The driver told us they do it all the time. What can you do once you have you stuff boxed and loaded on a truck. Then they took over a month to deliver our stuff when I gave it to them a month early to avoid delays. Again, technically they never broke their contract. They just lied. Did they move my stuff and not damage it, yes. Did they stay within the fine print, yes. Would I ever recommend them to a friend. NEVER. They do not ship your furniture on their trucks. They are a broker who hires drivers. That means if there is a problem you are screwed. Maybe for a cross town move it would be fine. The movers themselves were professional, clean, and very friendly. These people made our moving experience a nightmare. The guy walks in pointing at things saying "this is extra, that is extra. They didn't want to take our pictures, our bags, anything fragile, so they left my dresser mirror. The guy was combative every step of the way. The guy looked at me and said" you have the problem, you call the office". Unbeleivable. The entire move, he was threatning " we will leave ur stuff on the street " or " when times up, we are leaving" the kept doing this because they wanted us to pay more money. Running the clock down carrying one item at a time. When I would say something, again with the threats. It gets better. One we got to our destination, they wanted payment in full. The took so long loading, we were at 4 hrs. They wanted payment for 6 hrs. I told them I would pay for the 4 hrs and once the job was complete, I would pay the balance. All cash. The guy refused. Says he could not do anything else until we paid him for six hours. I told him I dont pay for work not done. He called some man, who continued the threats. Stating he will tell his guys to leave and we would have to come get our whole house of furniture. He began screaming. I couldn't beleive what was happening. We were being held hostage and forced to pay for the move in full so they would unload our things. All the while, the girl in the office yelling we have to pay, the still threatning to leave our stuff on the street if time ran out. Once time was up, they left. The dumped everything in one room, left the shrink wrap on several pieces of furniture, left water bottles and trash in the common area of the condominium complex we moved in, left heavy pieces of furniture in a manner which we would still need to move it. They left so much stuff at the residence we moved from we will have to get additional help to finish this move. We paid in full and they left a mess. If we hadn't already paid them, I am sure we would of had a different outcome. They took their time, running the clock down, force us to pay in full, left us unassembled furniture and a lot of trash. They had 3 men, what I observed we should have only paid for 2. Looking at a couple reviews on their sight, I should have saw it coming. I would really advise using professionals. Dont use this company if u want the job done quickly and efficiently. Also, if you are like me and pay for services rendered, not before the work is done. It took me four months to write this because I really wanted to make sure I felt the same way. Movers were very hard working and prompt even though one of them smelt like alcohol from the previous night. I felt bad bc my elevator broke down and they had to carry things 3 flights of stairs with no complaints. They dropped a couple of things but nothing was damaged. I bought the yelp deal. When calling the office they didn't know anything about the yelp deal, finally figured out that they were offering a deal. I called back about it several times and they proceeded to tell me I did receive it. After fighting with them about simple math they finally said I'm right and will issue me a refund for overcharging me which I've never received. read more

I do not recommend these movers. The initial quote to move our belonging was quite low. They had come recommended from a friend so we went with the company. The person who did the quote said he thought they could get everything in to one truck. I told my husband there was no way that was going to happen. I know how much stuff we have and it was not going to fit on one truck. So in an abundance of caution we added almost $2000 to our moving budget. The company was not upfront about additional costs such as storage fees, fees for moving our stuff off of their trucks, etc. In addition to these additional costs that we were unaware of, they needed two trucks to move our belongings. So this almost doubled the initial quote we were given. In addition to paying almost double the initial quote, we then had to rent a U-Haul to move additional items that did not fit on their trucks! So it ended up costing us even more money out of pocket for the truck we rented. Upon being in our new location, I asked my husband where one item was and he told me "Oh, that didn't get moved. The movers didn't think it was worth moving." They were trying to conserve space and also asked my husband how much he could fit in their U-Haul that he was renting and how much they were supposed to fit. We hired them to move all of our things... not just what they could fit in one or two trucks. The workers on the front end of our move did handle our items with care and packed everything well. The workers on the back end though did damage some of our items while they were being taken off of their truck. They had the truck packed so full that you could not have fit a hand anywhere in between. So some of our items got damaged because they were stuffing and cramming too many items into one truck. When they opened the back of the truck I could not believe my eyes. I do not recommend these movers. My husband said they were nice on the phone and tried to do their best to help us with the cost but the bottom line is that they really miscalculated how much it was going to cost to move our belongings and then some of our items were damaged in transport. I do not do Yelp reviews -- in fact I don't think I have ever done one. But I do use Yelp to find businesses that I can trust. So I wanted to write this review so that other customers would know the truth about this company. read more

I needed to move my storage from Thousand Oaks to La. Yes, it's only a small distance but my furniture pieces were too heavy to move myself so I asked around at work about good movers. My co-worker suggested My American Movers and so i decided to give them a call. The lady i spoke with, Rebecca, was very nice and accommodating. She quoted me over the phone and walked me through all of the contract. She said they had two specials 3 men for $79 or 2 men for $59. Either way this is a deal compared to other moving companies i called. I chose the two men because i didn't have a ton of stuff. Oh there is a minimum of three hours with these guys, but i knew I would surpass that no problem since my drive time was about an hr and they double the drive time by law. The 2 guys who showed up were great. As promised, they called me when they were on their way and told me how long it'd take to get to my location. They arrived and got straight to work. In 45 minutes all of my stuff was on the truck and we were on the road to Westwood. When we got to the apartment they immediately brought up the furniture pieces and put them together. They were very careful with my furniture and made sure i was happy with the placement in the rooms. Since my apartment is on the 3rd floor, i knew it would take a while to get my stuff up, but they did it in under 2 hours. There was a bit of a problem with paying my bill but they were able to clear it up. Initially, I had gotten a "no more than" bid and I was told that if I finished in less than the quoted time I just pay for the time I used. The movers tried to make me pay the full price which I then informed them of the prior agreement. They called their boss and got everything straightened out. So even with the little billing issue they were very fair. I will definitely use them again the next time i move (which hopefully isn't for a while lol). How can you beat a company that is affordable, quick, efficient and fair. read more

Showed up on time, very quick. Wrapped everything that they needed to. Exact same crew showed up that had moved me one year prior, and they even remembered the house. Would and have recommended to friends. Can only comment on in-town moves, not storage or anything else. But these guys showed up on time, worked quickly and did not overcharge. read more
