On the waterfront is where you'll find open-front Naja's Place with a view of the boats moored to the pier, TVs with sports, and packs of tourists strolling along the boardwalk. Beer is the specialty of the house, so, order a pint or two. When the band is playing it'll drown out your thoughts and conversation, so, you can focus on the beer in hand. Food isn't a lure of hitting Naja's, but when you're drinkin' you're gonna want something to nibble on. The Hot Wings, Fries, and Jalapeno Poppers all fit the bill. Service is what you'd expect. Naja's has been busy both times I dropped anchor at the bar, so, I can't complain about the service. Parking at the Pier or Boardwalk is metered or paid lot. Either way works. Naja's is on the Pier just blocks from my house, an easy walk, and I've walked past many times. On summer Sunday afternoons, I remember lingering outside the bar on the boardwalk to listen to their very impressive bands, but I never ventured inside. At Naja's, inside is actually outside.....in the sense that the wall between the boardwalk and the bar is almost non-existent in good weather. So the views of the boats docked in the harbor are right in front of you, in your face. What a perfect vantage point for enjoying sunsets. Last night I experienced the inside of Naja's, finally, for Friday happy hour. The beer was cheap (half price, I think), and they offer just about every kind of beer I ever heard of. Including Stella on tap, and that's what I drank. The place is divey-chic, and I really like it. We left before the band started, though. I did taste a couple of Naja's onion rings, a bit greasy. But the ladies room made my day. There's a full-length mirror that knocked about 20 lbs. off me, I call those things skinny mirrors. And that potty was clean, too, btw. Five stars for the skinny mirror. Four stars for the bar and the beer and friendly service. If I drink too many of those huge fattening mugs of Stella, however, there is no skinny mirror on earth that will help me...... read more

Went there today and my gf asked for a sample of a beer and the bar tender replied with "you can buy a glass if you want to try it." She thought he was joking of course and kinda laughed it off and said "oh I can't have a sample." To which he replied with " you can buy a glass." No explanation. It's totally fine if you don't offer samples for exclusive beers, but don't be a dick. He looked like a fat Paul Bunyan. This chill little bar is on the boardwalk overlooking the marina, which makes for a nice view. It's incredibly entertaining to just people watch from here, especially as they come stumbling out of this place. There isn't any bar seating, but you can just walk in and plop yourself on any of the open tables available. To order, walk up to the front, pay, and they'll hand you your beer. If you order food, they'll give you a number to place on your table and will bring your order out in a timely manner. Booze: This is a beer only establishment. I love dark stouts, so I ordered their Campfire Stout by High Water Brewing and Modern Times Black House Nitro. Both were delicious! I also got a chance to sample the Speakeasy Scarface Stout, but preferred the MTBHN to the other two. Nitro tap makes such fluffy and foamy bubbles, yum! Eats: They didn't have a wide selection of food on the menu, nor did they have the most healthy veggie options, so I sucked it up and ordered their fried goodies...poor me ;) This is how I would rank their fried goods: #1 - Jalapeño poppers #2 - Tots #3 - Mozzarella sticks #4 - Fried zucchini sticks The medley of fried eats normally comes with chicken strips, but since I don't eat meat, I substituted those for tots - such a good choice! I loved their jalapeño poppers, but when my dish only came with two, I asked the cook to double check my order for any confusion. He told me that my plate only comes with 2 poppers and about 4 mozzarella sticks, and tons of tots and zucchini sticks. When he saw how disappointed I looked, he was awesome enough to bring me a plate of 6 poppers on the house. Gracias! Naja's is awesome!! With the number of taps they have, you can find a style of beer that will totally suit your palate. They try and have at least one or two sour beers on tap which is a big plus for me. The IPA (India Pale Ale) Fest that they had a little while back was heaven for me as it's one of my favorite styles of beer. With such winners as Pliny the Younger, Racer X, Sculpin, 90 Minute IPA, Maharaja, etc. on tap, it was a shame I was able to make it out only once. Happy hour is a great time to come (4-7pm, M-F I think) where pints range from $3-$6 or so. I scored my friend and I a $10 pitcher of Rogue Old Crustacean barleywine (over 11% ABV) and it pretty much knocked us on our asses. Food wise, I've only had the Chicken Kabob Plate and it pairs great with beer. Watch out for the green peppers as they have a surprising kick. A minor little annoyance is they don't have a lot of places to sit. That's for the people that are getting stuff to eat. All in all, one of my favorite beer bars in LA. read more

Naja's Place - IPA Fest 2009 - Burgers Near Me - Redondo Beach, California

Sean and I went to Naja's Place for their 3rd Annual IPA Festival in Redondo Beach, CA on Saturday and I have mixed feelings about the experience. I LOVE IPA's and I was really excited that they were serving 70 different IPA's on tap. There was some major line issues when there was only two bartenders serving the whole place from one single-file line. The beer was pretty amazing. I had the Avery Maharaja Imperial IPA (10.54% ABV 102 IBU's) which pours an amber/gold color white head. I am surprised how subtle the IPA was and it just hits you a little in the back of your throat. I tasted a bit of grapefruit and orange honey which makes the hoppyness of this beer sneak-up on you. Sean had the Hair of the Dog Blue Dot Double IPA (7% ABV and 80 IBU's) which was gold with a white head with heavy lacing. It had a corn-taste to it with a nice mellow-hops finish. I liked both of these very much. The Avery was more of my style. We also had the Stone Ruination Double Dry Hopped IPA (7.7% ABV with over 100 IBU's) which was fantastic, but I have come to expect as much from Stone. It pours gold with a white head and has a great mouthfeel. It does what I wanted all day, it was so hoppy it gave me a bit of a dry-mouth. It tasted of grapefruit and hops, and was incredibly light considering how strong it finished. I would drink this all the time. Sean had the Strand Black IPA (7.8% ABV with 85 IBU's) which was insanely dark with a white head. I said it's like "a chocolate-coffee ice cream beer" with hops. It was pretty amazing stuff. Not the beer to drink before dinner! Lastly, I had the Mad River Steelhead Double IPA (8.6% ABV ?IBU's) which was a cloudy-orange color with little white head. This was a bit on the sweet-side for me but it tasted clean and not overly-complex. Anyways, besides the line issues the people in there were creepy. There was a group who wouldn't stop talking about condoms and Viagra next to us and I watched some guy smell another girls hair...that wasn't in her group of friends. I politely asked her if she knew those guys after they walked away and she said no. I told her she might want to stay away from those guys and she was very grateful and thanked me. Super creepy. Not letting the people's creepyness determine how I liked the place, I give it a solid 4 overall. The place would have been a 5 star place if the chairs weren't rockety and difficult to sit in with a dress on (I think you know what I mean ladies) and taking 30 minutes to get the next beer on my IPA list. I would go back, just more in the early afternoon with pants on. read more

What a poor experience. We've been here before, but this experience ruined it for us. We ordered our beers and walked away from the counter. We wanted to look into the harbor at the fish. To their credit, they do have a sign that says that you may not take beers out of the restaurant. Totally understandable and our fault that we did not notice that. However, instead of simply pointing out our mistake, the "bar back," dressed like some random person on the street came to us and told us that we must drink inside the restaurant. As any normal person would after being told what to do, we asked the guy who he was. He said nothing and took the beers from our hands and tossed them into the ocean. We went back in to ask why some random guy just took the beers from our hands and she stated it was her bar back. I told her I did not know that and sorry for missing the sign, now can we get another beer. She stated we were no longer welcome in the establishment and that we had to leave. The experience escalated quickly and ended with all of the employees ganging up on us and cursing us out of the place. Very unprofessional way of handling things. If you don't like dealing with people under the influence, don't work at a bar. read more

Naja's is my old stomping grounds. I've gotten drunk here more times than I can count. Now that I'm a "bit" older and my weekend partying has died off considerably I don't get here as much as I like. I'm not a big beer drinker and I stick mostly to Coors Light. Boring, I know. I mostly come here for the ambiance and the music. It's a good band and the drummer has been with the band at least 20 years. It's a nice crowd of people of varying ages and nationalities. I'm glad to see that after all these years it's still a popular place. I try and come by every time I'm in the area...it brings me back to younger days. Epic dive bar with tons of beer on tap! This is a beer drinkers paradise! I've been here a handful of time and my last trip was the first time I ordered food. I wasn't expecting much for a dive bar but their "kabobs" were really tasty! My friend and I ordered the "small" plate and it was a lot of food for just the two of us. We also ordered some chili cheese fries and it was enough to feed at least four people. Beer lovers' paradise, right here on the Redondo beach boardwalk. What an awesome dive bar, with over 80 beers on tap!! I was lovin' that they had all the delicious Californian craft brews I am now missing so much on the East coast, including Russian River. The price was right for my Russian River Damnation, which was a nice and easygoing beer for a summer day. The crowd here is not very young, didn't really see many people in their 20's but seemed to lean more at 30-50. Everyone was having a good time though, with good beer in hand, listening to the groovy live music, and watching the game on the TVs. I personally couldn't stop staring at the hundreds of beer taps attached on their ceiling. So awesome. They seem to hold the occasional beer event too, with mention of an IPA fest on a poster on the wall. Wish I could've gone! read more

A true BEER bar. 88 taps of some of the finest craft beer! They have a tap cam on their site that shows what they currently have available. On Thursdays they do events (Barrel Aged beers, Dogfish Head, Sam Adams, Local Brews, Russian River, Facebook Fan Appreciation, etc, etc, etc). Located on the boardwalk next to the Marina, you can see boats bobbing just outside the bar. Great weather and atmosphere. They have a TON of tap handles screwed into the ceiling - such a cool visual feature. The staff can seem a bit stand offish at times, but that's just because they're probably swamped. Otherwise they are knowledgable and have a great sense of humor. The more you come back, the more you feel like family with the staff and patrons. There are two areas: the main entry is large and has cocktail tables, jukebox, and a stage where local bands can play. The small area to the left with only bar seating and is mostly standing room tends to be the area the "regulars" go during events. If you have AT&T, the cell service kinda sucks down at the Marina/Pier. GREAT place to check out if you're in the area and looking for craft beer. read more

I've swung by Naja's a couple times. Once in the afternoon and once at night after some plans fell through elsewhere. You walk in and see a wall lined with taps - it's like you died and walked through Heaven's gates. 88 beers on tap at a time to be precise. They cover the whole spectrum, so as long as you like beer, there's something for everyone. I am more of a light/wheat beer guy and found a couple of good options. I do like a lot of other beers though, ambers and so forth, and they'll have those too. I feel like the selection was weighted heavier on the darker side - stouts, porters, etc. They have quite a few IPA's as well, which I tend to shy away from. But again, with 88 to choose from, you can't go wrong. The place is longer than it is deep, but the front is usually always open so it's basically an open air bar. You're right next to the water and the Redondo marina so there's plenty of boats to gander at and people to watch as they strut down the boardwalk. Beware: they have live music a lot so it can get very loud. This is the type of place I like to visit to enjoy a delicious brew and catch up with friends, so a band deters such a goal from happening. You'll be forced to shout to the person next to you in such an event. Seating is also pretty limited since as I mentioned it is pretty small and narrow. But other than that, if you're craving a cold one down your gullet, you'd be hard-pressed to find a better option with such vast selection as Naja's. read more

This is a FORTH OF JULY spot for Sure! By the way...for those who don't know like we didn't know...you can EASILY see the Redondo beach firework show from ANYWHERE near the pier. People often pay to park in the lot, bring lawn chairs and blankets and watch the show right from their cars! There were people sitting on any grass they could find, just standing in front of several businesses, people standing on the rocks and on the pier...people were literally EVERYWHERE which was cool because you can easily move far away from loud drunks or screaming children you might have been stuck by at another fireworks show, lol. Remember, there is absolutely NO need to pay to get into a special area down there unless you have kids that want to swim in the Lagoon and hear the music set to the show. We picked a table right in front of the entrance at Naja's. Perfect spot to drink and view the festivities! Not a place for children in my opinion. Extremely dirty restrooms and the fryer is so exposed to everything I'm sure there are lots of Mosquitos and beetles being cooked along with your food so enjoy that extra crunch, lol! NO Alcohol here, just beer and wine. Live music, Fun people, Friendly staff, SUPER Divey.... Loved it! But wouldn't eat a thing. Clean ladies, bring hand sanitizer and your own toilet paper. Again... I'm no Queen of England but D A M N is all I could say about the women's restroom! Be prepared to order a lyft or Uber as you will EASILY get drunk here because EVERYONE else is.... Idk if it's always this way since this was my first time, but it's def an older crowd. But it was still crackin, lol! People were dancing, there was live music and a singer (really good, btw) and the bartenders were chill. We ordered our usual: Sculpin & bf got the grapefruit Sculpin. What I liked most was the vibe of the place. Everyone was dressed very, VERY lax, there were groups of people, individuals just hanging out, and people outside. You come to this place for 1 reason and 1 reason only.... GOOD BEER I think they have 78 beers on tap and 150 different bottled beers. How many places have the diversity of PBR, flavored mead, and Dogfish Head Brewery beers on tap? I really like the Dogfish Head beers. It's toward the South end of Strand. It's a great place to ride your bike to on a Sat or Sun afternoon. They usually have a live band on Sunday afternoons. The crowd usually has a fair bit of tattoos in it. I've never been here on a Fri or Sat night though. The food is not so good. Weird story... One time while I was there I looked out and a little mexican boy was trying to steal the valve stem caps off my beach cruiser while his mom was standing next to him. He was trying to fake like he was tying his shoes. When I confronted them the mom acted like it wasn't that big of a deal. read more

It was my 2nd time here, and would definitely come more often if I lived closer. Staff is really nice and obviously very knowledgable about their beers. We got a pitcher for 14 bucks! Didn't try their food, but the rest of my party had gotten oysters from a few doors down, which they brought on over to Najas and enjoyed with their beer... so that was definitely a plus. One of my favorite spots to chill and have so many choices of beer. 83 clean taps at all time every time. Usually the Customer service is on point and the staff can make a good recommendation with a tester, unfortunately last time I was there I was surprised how rude one of the staff was to me. I waited in a long line and wanted a recommendation for a good stout, I told him I was not a fan of IPA, he said "I don't care what you don't like," and served the customer behind me. I was taken back and was helped by one of the girls there whom is always nice. I had originally given this place 5 stars even looking past the dirty restrooms because how great everything else is but this really is unacceptable. The food is some of the best bar food and the cook alwyas has a smile. Hot wings are my go to. And the chips/French fries are always golden brown and never soggy, just the way i like. Definitely a dive bar and could use a facelift but i wouldn't change it because it has that welcome, come as you are feel. Its by the beach so feel free to bum it and foeget a dress code. Wow! This place is kick axe! My best friend and I showed up here yesterday for their annual IPA fest. We hit all the 10% + IPA's they served. We had locals to one off kegs by the best brewers. It was awesome. The place was packed with IPA lovers and local wastoids. They provided score cards and pencils so that you can check off the ones you try. We spent 80 bucks and tried about 20. I had a couple I've heard about such as the Coronado Idiot and super strong IPA casks. All ruled. If you go next year, I would go the first or second day it starts. If you can't find a beer you like, just stay home 'cause there's no hope for you. Wait freakin' forever for your poison from an obnoxious bartender; that's why it's better to just get a pitcher and be done with it. I love this place. Beer selection is incredible. Setting and atmosphere is pure SoCal. (Redondo marina boardwalk) Bands during the day. All walks of life, including Midwest beer snobs like myself. What's not to like. Food is ok. My only complaint is the price of Jolly Pumpkin beer. The price is too damn high but I guess for SoCal, beer from Michigan can charge import pricing. Lol. Live music on weekends - cover bands - the same bands that have been playing there for years - very entertaining - Dance floor - small - but always fun - sometimes better to watch the ol' salty dogs, cougars, and youngsters mix it up. Diverse crowd - Locals, tourists, old surfers, stoners, suits, old & young people - all mixing it up. The lines for the beer can get long as the place fills up. This place gets packed!! Ride a bike there - adequate railing to lock up - but, please do it old school like the rest of us, and put your tire over the top rail to make more room (yes, head in parking please) Did I mention the diverse beer selection?!!!! IF you like beer, A beautiful view of the marina / boats, looking out towards the sunset - this may be the place for you. This is a local place worth trying. The food is good tavern fare - but I usually get seafood before stopping here - after all - we are at the beach. Some people reviewed it as a 'biker bar' - No so young danielson - There is a very diverse crowd here - never intimidating, but always festive. Probably about 70% dudes, and 30% ladies on any given Fri/Sat/Sun - but groups of hotties do go in there to enjoy naja's. The burgers and hummus were both pretty decent. Nothing really too special. I actually prefer to grab my food a little farther down the pier at Quality Seafood and just come here for the beers. The beer selection is great. There's enough on tap to cover the gamut of light fizzy beers, big hop-bombs, and thick malts. There's usually at least 10+ beers on tap that I really love to drink. Naja's is popular and gets crowded fast. If you get here late, be prepared to finish your glass while standing near the doorway. read more

Have come here for several years but today's experience will make sure I don't come back. I didn't see the catalyst, but saw a male staff member get in a girl's face seemingly out of nowhere, yell at her, and caught the words "f*** you." I don't care what led to this situation, there's a way to deal with customers and that's not it. It was incredibly unprofessional of him and offputting to be around to say the least. Totally found this place by accident! I was looking on a map to see where Johnny's DIVE was and saw Naja's Place right next to it. Being that it's SO close to the spelling of my own name, I felt strongly compelled to at least check it out. Of course, I Yelped before I leapt and was pleased to find that "my" bar was highly regarded and recommended. OMG!! I have NEVER in my life seen so many beers! They absolutely have the most selection of brews I've ever come across. I ended up trying something called the Duchess something-or-other. Ummmm....not recommended unless you like drinking vinegar. Naja's is definitely a divey kind of place that you go after a day at the beach. Would love to go back, especially to see the live reggae band that they have. read more

Had a great time this last Sunday at Naja's. It was very hot, but we cooled down with cold beer on tap. They have a very extensive selection of different kind of beers. Also we were lucky to enjoy a really good cover band that played all day. All the staff are friendly, And if you're not sure about a beer, they will let you sample it. Didn't try the food, next time. Naja's was one of the more popular places to meet up for happy hour for years due to the great atmosphere, ease of parking, good food and 80 beers on tap. 80! I like beer, so I'll start there. Tons of selection, styles, nationalities and flavors that change frequently enough to keep things interesting, but not so often that you get frustrated because you never know what to get. The prices are easily understood due to their color-coding system and always reasonably priced. The food is good for what it is. Expect pub grub, not cuisine. They cook it right in front of you at the bar and it arrives quickly. The bar's open side looks right out into the marina and is a great spot to relax with a brew and watch the sun go down after a long work week. There are typically a wide variety of people there, so I never felt out of place and the vibe is very laid back. I've since moved out of the area and I miss it so much! read more

They have no less than 400,000 beers on tap and the atmosphere is top-notch. I highly recommend the jukebox. Especially the Meatloaf section. Bat out of hell should be the first, middle, and last song you play. Even if you only play 4 songs. read more
