Food is good but overpriced for small portions and customer service isn't so great. Always forgetting your order or never get your order right. If you order pho be prepared to pay at least $30 for 2. I went here after my graduation ceremony with my family for dinner. I love the interior and how it's so open and nice and the AC was on blast which was great. This place ONLY serves chicken (of course!) and since it was my first time there, I ordered the first thing on the menu: Com Ga Nam An. It came with a small bowl of soup which was satisfying and within minutes, the entree came out. The chicken was sliced into 5 pieces and came with rice and vegetables. It tastes decent as well! I love the chicken here. They have good quality chicken that tastes fresh. You can order it with rice or noodles. My favorites are Com Ga Nam An (chicken and rice) and Pho Ga kho (dry rice noodles with chicken). Com Ga Nam An - the rice is cooked in chicken stock so it makes it so good. The chicken is a mixture of white and dark meat with some skin. I'm not sure if you can customize this but I like the way it's served. It comes with cucumber and tomato and 3 different sauces. Make sure you ask for it if they don't bring out all 3: ginger, soy sauce, fish sauce. The sauces remind me of Savoy in Alhambra, but definitely not the same. Pho Ga Kho - pho noodles are cooked but broth is on the side. It comes with a sauce for dipping the chicken that has a sour kick to it. I love it! There's also a sauce in the noodles since it's served dry. The portions have gotten bigger since they first opened. I was perfectly fine with the portions before but can see how it's too small for certain people and also to be competitive with surrounding local businesses. Parking is terrible in this plaza. Now on to the food - I ordered the #1 - the standard hainan chicken and was impressed by the quality. You can order it with either dark, white or combo meat and with our without the skin. The chicken was higher quality. The ONLY downer is that you really don't get very much chicken so even as a female, I was still left hungry. Three Words: HAND SHREDDED CHICKEN. When it comes down to it, that's what distinguishes this establishment from the hundreds of other Vietnamese restaurants in the area. If you're new to this place, try ANY of the many items on the menu that feature "hand shredded chicken". You won't be disappointed. The hand shredded chicken is mixed with onions, red bell pepper and other spices and marinated in a flavorful sauce before it is served. I personally prefer to eat the chicken with white rice or sticky rice, but you can also order the shredded chicken with a number of the soup dishes on the menu. (It will be served on a small side plate instead of being dumped into the soup.) Overall, no major complaints: The service was a little slow, I really didn't need the Alicia Keys soundtrack blasting at high volume during my meal, and I suspect significant amounts of MSG are used in the kitchen. I like the food here. Really good chicken but the portion is small. Otherwise, their chicken hainam always hit the spot. However, there is this new guy, maybe a server, one with the tattoo on his arms, he is rude. Walked in, he said hello and I said I'm ordering to go. He just went about his business, looked down and did or even offer me a menu. I grabbed the menu and proceeded to wait for him to finish what he was doing and when he finally looked up, he just stared blankly at me...okay so uh yeah I'm ready to order......I want the blah blah blah. He then said "that's it? With an annoyed look (could be my perception but it doesn't hurt to freaken hurt to smile). I paid, handed him the money and when I had put my hand out to get the change, he just placed on the table and quickly left (kind of aggressive if you ask me). What's wrong with you?! I read the reviews and wasn't sure if I wanted to try this place out, but I'm so glad I did! I love hainanese chicken rice (though most people think it's bland, I grew up eating it on Sundays with my family at a local hawker stall). I thought this was perfect with crispy sticky rice! Got seated before 3 other groups and order before the other 3 groups but our orders bever came out. 20 minute after everyone else was serve we still didn't get our orders until we asked them to check on it. Love it here. They've come along way since the beginning. I keep coming back bcos the chicken is very tender and flavor all. Especially looooove their lemongrass chicken salad. It's a huge portion size for 12$ and it's all cabbage (great for dieters like me). Customer service has greatly improved. And the wait isn't a whooping 45mins for ur order to come out anymore. Staff is friendly and very reliable. Looks clean. And I forgot my iPhone there once and the staff kept it for me! Come during off times if u don't want to wait otherwise don't complain, they do get busy. Love that they are very honest and helpful! And most importantly, one of the very few Vietnamese chicken and rice place that understands that not everyone wants a ton of carbs for lunch or dinner. They offer some great salad options which is why I'm willing to drive all the way from Irvine just to order take out salad from here. More restaurants should offer salads on their menu. The chicken over rice is very good. I ordered chicken salad and chicken pho for to go. They give me the soup for my pho not enough so I order extra soup. It's cost me$2 dollars but not much. To be completely honest, their pho is the weakest link to this restaurant. It is an overly priced bland soup with decent chicken and a good dipping sauce. I was told that this place was good and it fell flat for sure. If you are searching for better quality broth for a lower price for the same sized bowl, I would highly recommend somewhere other than here. This is the second time coming here and I was hoping it would be a better experience than last time. Unfortunately that was not the case. First of all the dishes are way over priced and they never have the dark meat ready or in stock. The amount of chicken that the give you in the signature chicken rice dish is very minimal. The waiters are young, and speak in slur and mumble fast so it's very hard to understand. When offering sticky crisp rice or regular sticky rice they also don't mention the increase price as they ask us. Our mistake for not seeing it in the small fine print in the menu but at least mention to us that there will be a increase in price. When addressing to the owner at the front of the price increase that we were unaware about, she became aggressive and hostile when all we asked was why was there an additional increase in the price when we paid because at the time we didn't know of the additional price of having the sticky rice crisp instead of soft. She would stab her finger at the menu repeatedly saying that it's stated on the menu (we didn't see that when we ordered because they made the font smaller and the guy didn't mention it when he asked us if we wanted the rice crisp or soft). So I just said okay, that's all we wanted to know. Oh man she looked like she wanted to rip my head off and was just glaring at me when I simply asked a question. I also know how to speak Vietnamese and she assumed I didn't, so in the case she tried to talk trash as I walked away was very unprofessional and I would probably never come here again. Their rice and chicken is super good! But they have the slowest workers EVER. EVERY SINGLE ONE!! I am normally very understanding of workers!! But they're so slow and they forget every single thing. I come here so often and they always do it. I don't know what it is, it's not a language barrier because I'd ask in Vietnamese. The only thing they ever not forget is the check. Even then, sometimes they'll tell me to go to the front; it would be understandable if that's how the system works always but some of them are just really lazy to go print it and bring it over; whether it's busy or not. The server told me someone stole all of their new menus therefore that's why I was charged for their higher, new price. I've tried their Chao goi GA (congee with chicken salad), it's good but the Chao is more like just soup with very little rice or really broken rice. The salad is good. The chicken is moist and their sauce (ginger fish sauce) is yummy. I also tried their chicken rice. It's one of the best chicken rice I've ever had. It's moist and has the right flavor of the chicken. It's the best here. They also have all the chicken parts that most place don't because it's a health issue. Egg, gizzard, liver, and heart. We've been here several times but this will be our last visit. First of all the noise level here is HORRIBLE due to fact that the servers who don't seem happy kept shoving the chairs with hard metal leg tips over concrete. It almost seemed that they do it out of anger. Also, they come around in a cart to collect dishes and the servers makes so much clanking with the dishes and glasses. Plus it grosses me out when I'm lunching and they push their cart next to our table and start dumping leftover over food into a bin. Service was not friendly. Now, let's go to food. I normally order the same Pho with chicken salad. This dish was normally good but this time if looked like they just threw some chicken pieces on the plate, threw some raw onions & a couple thin pieces of red pepper and sprinkle it with salt. It was so salty that I just left 1/2 behind because could no longer handle it. My husband had the regular chicken Pho. It was just so so. The pho garnish was the only good thing consisting of fresh bean sprout, Viet basil, lemon & jalapeno... but we didn't come for garnish. If they get a handle on the noise level and do away with the push carts, it will be so much more pleasant. read more

The coffee shop near by didn't quite thrill us today, so the BFF suggested something new at the end of the the business strip. I went over with him and noticed the Bun Bo Hue place was out of business and the Hainan Chicken's style pops up :-) hello!!! So we gave them a try. I ordered the chicken noodle soup. The ginger/fish sauce was well prepared (compared to the same dip sauce from most places) But I was disappointed with the rice noodles. I assumed they had the typical regular dried rice noodle used in all kinds of Pho, but it turned out that they served a thick flat rice noodle. They said it was "fresh" but if you're going to use that kind of noodle, you need very hot broth to maintain the best taste. Half way through the meal with luke warm chicken soup, the waiter came over and asked how are we doing. I told them my opinion; to my surprise, they said I should ask for the other kind!!! Well, if I knew you were using weird noodles, I would have! Also, their iced coffee is served in an attractive tall slim glass (good taste on the glasses and utensils, by the way). Unfortunately, I had two sips of coffee and all I had left was a bunch of ice cubes. So, pretty, sure, but at $3 I'd settle for something a little more plain but will actually hold a bit more coffee.
