This past Sat I went to get my usual and was surprised by the little girl at the counter . I had to ask her to help me after waiting for 5 minutes. Very rude and a high school attitude. I can't believe it was my first time trying Nation's Giant Hamburgers. The harvester burger and grilled cheese sandwich seemed to be the only vegetarian options in burgers/sandwiches. I decided to try the harvester burger. The meatless grain and veggie patty was surprisedly quite tasty and impressive. They forgot to not put onions, like I had requested. While the dressing was average, the condiments (especially the honey mustard and barbecue sauce) definitely elevated the taste of the burger. The fries did not disappoint. The french fries were nicely seasoned, slightly crunchy (but soft on the inside), and not greasy. I definitely plan to go back to try their pies! No love or salt added to the patties, they're dry as could be. Produce doesn't seem fresh. I didn't know that this location moved over a year ago. It used to be across from the Fremont Hub. (Not surprisingly, given how new this location is, the exterior and interior are both nice.) I went here today with my family, my parents, and an uncle (I'm not going to name him, but he was a pest when I was trying to eat). I'm glad that the restaurant we first went to was closed (I also spoke up when my dad suggested another place that I was lukewarm about). Our cashier wasn't very friendly, but he was quick and thorough. He also handled the throng of customers well. (It was so busy initially that we were all spread out.) We sat at two different tables (there were six of us, and most of the tables only seat two). The seating capacity inside is about 30, and the seating capacity outside is about 20. (In general, it was a little hard to move around.) It was a little hard to hear the numbers being called out (the woman spoke quickly and had an accent). Our order was so large that our number was called 3 times (half of our order was ready after only about 5 minutes). Getting a water cup for my dad was kind of an ordeal (the woman that I asked was far away from them, and it was hard to get to the cashier because people kept coming in). My uncle took the initiative and grabbed one from the counter (I couldn't see the cups until some customers cleared out). A woman came around at one point. The tables were bussed effectively (when I went to the Castro Valley location 3 years ago, the tables weren't being bussed at all). For the restroom on the right, the code is 1616 (as of this date). The restroom is big, but it was in need of cleaning. There were also no paper towels. Plastic utensils should be added to the condiment area. We had fountain drinks and iced tea, but coffee is also served here (my wife was tempted to order some). "With a SINGLE PORTION you get: Extra large AA egg, toast, mound of hash-browns, & choice of 2 thick bacon slices, sausage, ham, hamburger, or linguica..." My uncle couldn't believe that he received 6 sausage links (I was given 2 of them- they were tasty, but greasy). He also received a lot of toast (I expected that from my visit to the Castro Valley location). He must have ordered an EXTRA Giant THREE-EGGER (my mom wouldn't let me take the receipt). I was also given 2 pieces of toast, and they were fine with or without jelly. Giant TWO-EGGER: 8/10. My wife liked her meal, and she received a lot of food. Hot Dog ($4.20): 7/10. They're big, but nothing special (I liked them more in the past). I kept thinking of Oscar Mayer hot dogs (this is definitely not a compliment). The hot dogs are also too greasy. I finished mine first in order to be done with it. French Fries: 8/10. We shared a small bag, and they were nicely cooked. They didn't blow me away, but they were pretty good. Bacon Cheeseburger ($8.75): 8/10. My burger was good, but not excellent. It was also too pricey. I hate Miracle Whip (so does my uncle). I would have asked for no mayo had I known what to expect. I received a few strips of bacon. They were meaty and delish. My cheese didn't stand out, but it was fine. My burger was cooked the way I wanted it. Chocolate Crème Pie: 8.25/10. My slice was soft and delicious. It would have just been nice if it was a bit more firm. In general, the pie crusts at Nation's seem a bit underbaked. (My mom thought about ordering a slice of pie, but she wasn't enticed by any of the flavors.) Some areas are kind of cramped, but the shopping center features a fair amount of parking. (My dad honked at some jerk who wouldn't stop when he was backing out. The driver also wanted to speed.) I had to order a lot in order to get full. I also wasn't pleased with everything. The employees are friendly (shoutout to the older female cashier who's always friendly, even when I call at before closing asking if they have the pie available). 10/17/20 There is no outdoor seating here currently. They have it all yellow caution taped off. Burgers are still good. Fresh, hot, messy...which is the sign of a good burger. What you will get here is affordable huge burgers. I felt ambitious and went for the ole burger which comes with green roasted chilis. They use the classic mayo, lettuce, tomatoes and onions. I enjoyed how melted the cheese was on my beef patty and since this was my first time, it could have been a fortunate accident. Expect to get messy as you try to devour this hot good mess. The onions rings were thick and crunchy so no complaints there. Their menu is not extensive which make is easier to concentrate on what they know best. Major difference from the old location. The new location has been up for a year and some change and is in a more attractive area. When we went on this particular day, they ran out of burgers around 1PM. Where they do that at? Running out of burgers is obviously bad management not reviewing inventory. So, it starts off with me at home in Hawaii, craving Blueberry Cheesecake almost three weeks ago. My wife puts it to rest, by making me one! Which by the way was really good! Been in Cali for five days, and a few of those my Uncle traveling with me had mentioned Banana Cream pie. He associated that Cali peeps don't eat bananas, because wherever we ate breakfast, no one served it! Well took care of that demise and had a resturant agree to make them for us one morning. Hmmmm I googled our way and directions, it was literally a stones throw away... We get there and there's a glass display of PIES! Banana Cream and MANY OTHERS.... Well today when I ordered the same breakfast, the Manager taking my order refused to substitute the toast for 1 flour tortilla. I asked why and her reply was "we don't do that". We've been meaning to stop by here to try it but because it's right next to my son's favorite place to eat, Chic-Fil-A, we never really got to chance to eat here because we end up next door. We recently got a Buy One Get One Free Coupon and it was an enough incentive to try this place. Chic-Fil-A is closed on Sundays so that was the best time to go. The coupon is quite tricky to begin with. We ordered the bacon cheeseburger at $8.95 (or something around there) and also the 2 egg breakfast with hash browns, ham (you get a choice of meat) and toast which was around $8.50. So we assumed that the 2 egg breakfast would be free. I was a little surprised to see that only $7.00 was taken off of my receipt. It seems like how they ring up the price of the burger is different than what's on the menu board. They ring up the hamburger as $7, then add the cheese then the bacon, which is why I basically got the hamburger for free but not the cheese or the bacon. When we sat down, it wasn't busy and there were lots of tables available but I guess we have to wipe our own tables since no one was really out there maintaining the place. We probably will not go back because even with the coupon, it's quite pricey. This is diner style but you order first, pay, wait for your number to be called then you get up and pick up your food right at the counter. You have to find a nice table to sit, if any are available because the place is small but I don't feel welcomed eating here. There are two restrooms and both are gender neutral. If I had to choose again, we would rather go across the street at Denny's where they have $5.99 for pancakes, 2 sausages, hash browns, and 2 bacon. The eggs were perfectly cooked, over easy, not a speck of over cooked nonsense. One side of the Hashed Browns, dark and crispy and other side cooked but not over cooked. The Hamburger meat, you 'Bet your Bippy' they got that one right, it is their mainstay of expertise.
