We've been visiting my parents on HHI (full time residents) for 50-years and we have our favorites... Fish Camp, Oyster Factory, Quarter Deck and always Frankie Bones on the last night. Well, there's a new restaurant, sqaurely in the middle of our list, Nectars. We went there for breakfast, lunch and dinner during our week. Every meal was amazing. The fried oysters, best I have ever had. For dinner, meat loaf and short ribs. You can really tell when the chef creates an authentic Holy Trinity base from fresh ingredients. Welcome to the pack, Nectar's.

    SOUTHERN BREAKFAST*

Food was very tasty, love that it's a farm to table style restaurant. Super cute inside however the service was very slow on a Sunday morning. Took well over an hour from sitting down to getting the check. Southern breakfast was very tasty, loved the hash browns. Hubby got the sausage gravy biscuits and was happy with them. We started with the bag O' donuts which were very good.

Still a great place to go! You might want to avoid the Spinach Salad though. My wife had it last night and she was very disappointed. Make up your own mind, but it was just spinach ,a half an egg, and a couple slices of a radish. The dressing was supposed to have some bacon in it???, not. We appreciated their not charging us for it. All else was great.

I visited Nectar on 10/20/25 and it was a very pleasant experience. We sat at the bar and enjoyed brunch. The bar area is really cute, clean and aesthetically pleasing. The food was really delicious and so were the drinks. They offer ample parking and the wait was minimal on this day. They even had a nice selection of music playing. I will definitely return for the great vibes, food, drinks and customer service.

Atmosphere was very peaceful and breezy sitting outside on the patio. The food was the best breakfast we've eaten in Hilton Head. Chicken and waffles, low country sea omelette, southern breakfast and po-boy oyster sandwich were outstanding! The coffee and the honey latte ice/hot were delicious. We are looking forward to trying new things on the menu next time we visit. The service has great. We got there around 9:45am.

Southern charm comes to mind when I recount this experience. We got huevos rancheros, duck hash, kids pancakes and a sticky bun. Recommended - the kid pancake was giant. My son loved it. It was the size of a pizza pie and he ate most of it (he is 4). We also got a sticky bun which was much bigger than expected. My daughter is a picky eater and this one she approved it. The huevos rancheros were ok. I didn't love them. There was too much salt and too much spice that didn't blend well and they used lentils that literally drowned any texture and flavor from the rest of the dish. Interesting concept but I didn't like it. They hubby got the duck hash which would have been better with regular instead of sweet potatoes. The place is charming. There is seating inside and outside. There are also TVs, where we watched some tennis. Service was good. Overall, they seem to do the sweet dishes well and aren't as greasy on others. The place has a nice space and warm southern vibes. I would come back for coffee and dessert but not for food.

We LOVE both locations of Nectar. Food is farm fresh as they say, and the menu has options for everyone! Early dining deals are excellent, and the restaurant is chic but also kid friendly. Service always lovely. Both brunch and dinner offerings are top notch!

Nectar was located across the street from our hotel decided try for dinner. We grabbed a seat at the inside bar and promptly greeted by a friendly bartender. I had a shrimp steak bowl and my husband had a blackened fish sandwich. Also tried the calamari all were exceptionally delicious. We met the owner who was very friendly. The restaurant itself has a relaxing vibe would not hesitate to return.

Country Fried Steak (5/5): The steak was nicely fried and not too salty. The gravy was delicious. The hashbrown was FANTASTIC--very dense, great flavor, and a crispy exterior. Southern Chicken N Waffle (4/5): The chicken was well-fried and juicy with A LOT of dill flavor (the dill clashed a little with the sweet syrup). The waffle was just a little too soft and got soggy quickly. I also think they forgot to add the sausage which I was looking forward to :( RATING SYSTEM 5 - Great (Need to get this again) 4 - Good (Would get this again) 3 - Ok (Might give this another shot) 2 - Not Good (Won't get this again) 1 - Bad (Telling people to avoid this)

The chicken and waffles is so good here. I had them twice during this trip. Outdoor seating is nice and dogs are allowed in the outside area. Huge plus

Of all of the places to tryin in Hilton Head, I'm glad we gave Nectar a shot. The food was delicious and the portions were enormous. Its not all about quantity, its got to taste good too... They hit all the marks here. I ordered a pork schnitzel which was more of a southern version. I got it with mashed potato and collard greens. I honestly think I made a poor choice. The pork schnitzel was good, but not great- I think if I got something a little more traditional I would have enjoyed it more. That said, the portion was generous and the sides were great. As far as pork schnitzels go though, it was pretty average. However, my wife got a smothered pulled pork bowl and let me tell you, if you are looking for southern flavor without all the "fried", go for it. The pork was crisped up and it was smothered in a pepper gravy and it was very forward on the pepper. It was fantastic- wish I ordered it... We got a side (basically a mountain) of fried brussels sprouts and a tomato hand pie as an appetizer. Hand pie was decent, worth trying, but wouldn't get again. It was just okay. Nothing amazing to write home about. The brussels sprouts damn near killed us. The oil from them being fried and the hot pepper flakes turned into chili oil in the bowl and the bursts of flavor from the sprouts can hit the back of your throat, so be warned there.. It was a portion and a half though. Definitely a sharable size among 3-4 people. If you eat these with one other person you may have a little bit of an upset stomach, so much oil. All of that said, I would come back here. I thought overall it was very pleasant. The service could have been a little better and food choices could have been a little different but that part is on us.

Nectar, it was a bleak experience for their thanksgiving dinner plan. Had a reservation for 5:00pm. At 5 pm, nectar is out of prime rib. By, 5:30pm nectar is out of turkey. Nectar is still seating people with the menu disappearing each minute. By 7:00pm, Nectar has one appetizer out of six choices left. My combination white dark turkey meal had no white meat. My wife's turkey meal luckily had a little of both so she gave me a couple of small slices. Both turkey dinners had no gravy. Her salad had heated tomatoes, not blistered so they were extra mushy. The sweet potato dressing and the mashed potatoes were very good and slightly warm. Unfortunately, all the rest of the food was cold. At Dessert time, no apple clobber was left. My pumpkin bread pudding I had ordered was also gone, so I had the chocolate cake as the last available dessert option. When we left at 7:00pm Nectar was still seating people. I have no idea what they were going to eat. It was an extremely expensive meal with many missing food options available at 5:00pm and getting more limited as the time pasted. We have eaten at Nectar for breakfast and lunch over the years, so we expected good food. Nectar's thanksgiving menu was a disaster and absolutely awful. The service staff was good and tried to make it less of an abysmal evening. We have enjoyed Nectar in the past, but were really disappointed with the Thanksgiving meal. Planning was poor.

    The cutest restaurant w/outdoor seating.

We enjoyed our brunch date at Nectar! We sat outside and received amazing service from both our waitress and the manger on duty. Everyone was kind, welcoming and attentive. Our food included the following: The deviled eggs 8/10 Fried green tomatoes 8/10 Cinnamon French toast 8.5/10 Duck hash 3/10

It doesn't feel corporate or manufactured at all. More like you've stumbled into somebody's lovingly chaotic backyard dinner party where the food just happens to be genuinely top-tier. The mismatched charm, handwritten feel, and warm atmosphere are part of what makes it so special. There's this brilliant contrast between the laid-back hole-in-the-wall vibe and the seriously refined cooking coming out of the kitchen. We started with the fried green tomatoes which were incredibly tender, fried perfectly, and drizzled with a lovely house-made ranch. The sweet house pickles alongside were such a good touch. We also each had a cup of she crab soup which was beautifully seasoned and packed with tonnes of crab morsels. For mains, we shared the shrimp and grits and completely understood why the recipe has won awards, including being recognised as the 3rd best in the world. The recipe is rooted in traditional Lowcountry cooking but elevated with layers of flavour that somehow still feel comforting and homemade. The grits were unbelievably creamy, and the shrimp and sausage were perfectly cooked with fantastic flavour throughout. We also split the seafood purloo with blackened grouper, and it was equally impressive. Everything was cooked perfectly and tasted incredibly fresh without trying too hard to be fancy. What really made the experience though was the staff. Everyone went above and beyond. They took time to chat with us about the area, paced the courses perfectly so nothing felt rushed, and by the end we were leaving with handshakes feeling more like guests than customers. Places like this are getting harder to find. We'll absolutely be back and would recommend it to anyone looking for authentic Lowcountry food served by genuinely wonderful people.

Debbie and I stopped in about an hour before closing, not expecting much--just a quick bite. What we got instead was hands down one of the best seafood meals I've had in a long time. First off, we met the owner, Jim Scully--absolute legend. Friendly, genuine, and actually takes the time to sit and chat. You just don't see that anymore. Great conversation, great energy... set the tone right away. Now let's talk FOOD... * Fried oysters & shrimp - ridiculously good. Light, crispy, not greasy at all. You can tell everything is top quality. * Coleslaw - vinegar-based, shredded, and honestly reminded me of proper German kraut salad. Perfect balance with the seafood. * Soft shell crab... alright, this is where things got serious. "It was like a circus in my mouth... just an explosion of flavors." I'm not exaggerating. The texture was creamy, not oily, and the batter was just perfect. One of those bites where you just stop and look at each other like... yep, this is special. On top of that: * Everything is made with high-quality ingredients * Prices are very reasonable for what you're getting (honestly, some places charge double for worse) * BYOB (bring your own wine/beer = big win ) * Huge menu--seafood, ribs, BBQ, pulled pork, chicken, desserts... you name it Final verdict: (three thumbs up from Debbie & me) If you're in Hilton Head and even thinking about seafood--this is a hidden gem you don't want to miss. Hilton Head Island has seen some changes in food offerings in the last decade, but fresh and new American fusion isn't common. Enter Chow Daddy's. With two locations (the other in Bluffton) we hit this one on Hilton Head. It's a risky place to put a restaurant, buried in the back plaza of a nondescript but high-end shopping center deeeep in the wooded neighborhoods of the island's Southern tip. If you're staying elsewhere on the island, you'll find you have to pay a small fee to access Sea Pines but many people do to get to the Salty Dog Cafe as well. While it may not get a lot of visibility, it is definitely worth seeking out for the very good Latin American cuisine being offered. Out party of five arrived on an August Friday evening after making reservations and were impressed with the cleanliness and upscale minimalist vibe. Dark booths and Edison-style lighting are offset by the daylight let in by picture windows. There is outside seating in the patio (very pleasant in the shade) and a small bar open off the host area. Inside seating is large enough for bigger parties of 6-8. Definitely not a post-beach day place, but perfect for date night, or more dressy family dinner out. Service was quick and talkative; we enjoy chatting beyond food with out severs which makes the experience even better. Apps and mains were delivered quickly with good presentation. We started with the fine fresh corn dip - extra tortillas were helpful to get the last bits. Mains included a fresh and well pattied cheesburger, mix-n-match tacos and two specialty bowls - cajun shrimp with spicy fine fat prawns and an Ahi-tuna poke style bowl. The rice in both was excellent and the portions were perfect. I'll try to un-hide this hidden star with this review and encourage you to seek it out if you live on "HHi" or make your next visit. I came here with a bunch of friends from my undergraduate research lab while we were in Hilton Head presenting at a conference. We had rented a condo to all stay together and this place was in walking distance, so we headed over. I don't remember what all everyone else got to eat, or much about the service, but I do remember it was a total vibe. Beachy decorations that were fun but still classy and not too kitschy, warm lighting, good music. I ordered an item probably not even on their menu anymore: pulled barbeque chicken on a hunk of spicy cornbread with a side salad. I checked online and it's nowhere to be found, but it slapped at the time, and from pictures it seems like you can still maybe order their spicy cornbread at least, which was the best part! It had a great cakey texture and some legit heat. The chicken was succulent and tender and the smokiness paired well with the salad. It seems Chow Daddy's enjoyed a decade of success after my visit so long ago. I hope the temporary closure listed on the Yelp page doesn't turn into a permanent one. It was a pleasant surprise to be reminded of this visit and my time with friends.
