My friend and I came here for dinner, and we both had amazing drinks (I had a peach lemonade cocktail) and great dinners. She got a salad and I went to the other end of the dining spectrum and got fried chicken with gravy, macaroni and cheese and fries. My dinner was really good, though the macaroni and cheese could have had a bit more depth of flavor. Also, our waiter seemed a bit lost most of the time. He was nice but somewhat unaware. read more

My kids each had the kids pancake and bacon, moderately priced at $5. Nectar Farm is a locally sourced farm to table style restaurant with delicious items to choose from. We had spinach beet salad were tasty along side to die for homemade chicken tenders and fries. If you are a ranch lover, the homemade garlic ranch is a must try. Also don't forgot that their dessert is the way to go! read more

EDIT: I do want to note that any review (whether from me or anyone else) captures one's perception of a dining experience at one point in time. There are restaurants I enjoy on some days and other days...not so much. I encourage anyone who uses Yelp to peruse several reviews to get a rough sense for how a particular establishment is being assessed and not just latch on to one or two very good or bad posts. -------- I reviewed HHI restaurants during my family's visit last summer and really enjoyed it. I had zero interest in giving negative reviews as I hated what happened to restaurants (i.e., what the government did to restaurants) in the preceding year and was predisposed to giving everyone in the food service a break. As it turned out, every last dining experience I had here last summer was awesome--even the fried chicken one of the heirs brought back from the Palmetto General Store. Smash cut to one year later. I'm still pleased to be here, looking forward to a week of dining. I debated whether or not I'd do reviews again this year, as my aim is to be pretty much offline/unplugged this week. Also, I STILL didn't want to post negative reviews. This will be short and may be my only HHI review of the season. On Saturday, our first night on the island, we led off w/ a return trip to the site of many a HHI dinner. Sadly, the restaurant we'd visited multiple times over the years closed its doors. I'm not certain if it was COVID or bad management that did it in. ‍ In any event, there was a new restaurant in its place when we visited last year and I rather enjoyed it. One of the first things I noticed was that this restaurant was not at all busy. I could have obviously walked in here w/ my family of 6 and been seated immediately. Considering just how busy this place was a year ago, this is noteworthy. Another thing that was a bit off-putting was that an employee was hanging out by the hostess stand, apparently snacking and enjoying a beverage. A bad look for a restaurant and indicative of one that might have a management issue. The last straw was when my son noticed a bug in his entree. Here's how I would have expected that to have been handled: manager personally apologizes, let's us know that this never happens, comps that entree (if not the entire meal). Here's what happened: the manager, who obviously had just had this relayed to them by our waitress, did a walk-by in which she played the role of "casual restaurant manager", asking if everything was okay and giving thumbs up. Why, you ask, would I not stop her and confront her w/ this issue? Well, she obviously heard the story and could have addressed it then and there instead of being Miss Happy Thumbs Up lady. [EDIT: Maybe calling her Miss Happy Thumbs Up lady was me being a .] She chose to go another way. And that, again, gives me reason to pause about this place. I'll note that the waitress (who was actually very pleasant and professional) later told us that my son's entree was comped. That's well and good, but I needed more of a response to leave feeling as though this was an isolated and wholly unacceptable incident. My daughter later told us she heard the people behind us complain about undercooked fish. She said they offered to make that entree again, but the people were sufficiently grossed out and declined. I saw the manager stroll by w/ the thumbs up for them as well. And so, I regrettably have a negative review to share. As much as I enjoyed this place last year, I was equally put off by what I experienced on this visit. A subpar meal or visit is one thing. The appearance of management that just doesn't give a **** is an entirely different thing. read more

Zee was our waitress/bartender, she made fantastic selections and ALWAYS had a smile on her face and could be heard singing behind the bar. Food was really good and came out quickly. We sat there with our water for almost half an hour, watched other folks that were seated after us eat their food, and were completely ignored. We were told 10 minutes for an outside table, but a couple that came in right behind us were seated outside immediately, and they got their food quickly. We will not be back. Food was good if not great. Food delivery was an issue as my plate with gravy was partially dumped in my lap! The person delivering food then laughed! Finally brought some towels to help me get the gravy off my shirt and pants. I really expected the manager to proactively check on me and offer to take off something from the bill. No such offer happened and no manager arrived until I requested. Again the food was good, the service was horrible. We eventually had two managers come to our table offering only excuses. Biggest waste of time coming to this place just to be insulted and disrespected. Since we are a party of four and have a bird in a carrier bag, we assumed we had to sit outside on the patio because of the pet (they also told us only service animals allowed inside). So we go outside (no waiting time for patio I guess) and there are two tables directly in the sun, and four tables in the shade. The ones in the shade are slightly bigger because they had an extra chair for a fifth person and a baby high chair. The women seating us directed us to one of the tables in the sun because it has four chairs. We asked nicely for another table because we don't like to sit in the sun and she still directed us to the other table IN THE SUN. We pointed it out again and asked to sit in one of the tables in the shade. She rudely responded those are for bigger parties. I said, well there are plenty of tables available, surely we can sit in this one with five chairs especially since we have a carrier bag which would take up another fifth seat. With a nasty, hostile attitude she replied "we have big parties on the wait list for outside so you can only sit in the smaller tables " which I know is an outright lie considering we were last in line, and the only ones asking to sit outside, and there were plenty of empty "big party" tables (how come they haven't seated anyone in them yet huh?). We asked if she can go ask, and she walked away again with her usual cranky attitude and when she came back she slammed the menus on the bigger table and said we can sit here and left. Bewildered by this lack of respect, we sat down considering whether to leave or not. Right after we sat, a party of three were sat right behind us in the "big party table"...unbelievable. Then our waiter came and asked, with what I can only assume is a snarky attitude after he briefly witnessed the situation from afar, "how are you doing today". My mother said "I'm fine thank you". Then he looked at her weirdly and with a condescending tone asked "why are you replying thank you to a how are you question". She said "I said FINE THANK YOU not thank you...you know...like fine thank you very much?" He laughed then walked away. We all looked at each other and said we are leaving for sure. It was just becoming too unbearable to be treated poorly by every person at this place. As we walked away he replied with a loud and snarky "have a nice dayyy". So we went to see the manager before leaving. We told her that if we are forced to sit outside, why are we forced to sit in the sun while everyone else is in the shade, and after pointing it out, why are we treated so disrespectfully!!? Also why seat a three person party right after seating us if there was a "wait list" for the big party tables. She initially kept making excuses for her rude staff but was ultimately sorry for the whole situation I think? Not sure...she said "we can take care of your check and have a different server for you if you want". I was like no thanks...we had a bad experience and not looking for anymore drama. We came here to have a nice time not to have a free meal or be degraded and treated like trash... Just save your time and money and go somewhere else...take it from us. read more

What a wonderful place to breakfast! My husband and I decided to stop on our way out of town and instantly regretted that we hadn't gone sooner. Food was outstanding! Please come here for breakfast. I wish I had found this earlier in our trip, I would've wanted to come here every morning. The biscuits, both the buttermilk and sweet potato, are incredible. You have to get them, even if it's just to go as a snack for later. I could've just had one of those and been satisfied. The cold brew was also really good and came in a cool glass, which always makes it more fun. I got the super Dave breakfast sandwich, which was really good. Everyone else who had the eggs said they were the best eggs they've ever had. The hash browns were also so so good. Our server was really friendly and attentive as well. All around a great experience, the best breakfast if not one of the best meals we've had on the island. On the way out we looked at the lunch/dinner menu and it actually made me sad that today is the last day of our trip and we don't have time to come back (although I might still try.) read more

Stopped here after reading other reviews on Yelp. Atmosphere is really neat and very Magnolia "esk". Food is priced for the island. The wait was a little long for our food but over all it was good. We did notice a few discrepancies in the children's menu. The Breakfast Biscuit meal notes fry chips but it comes with has browns. Also the oatmeal doesn't actually come with toast. Lastly look at the word search. There is a typo that has us looking up the two words to see which one was correct. Have fun searching. We would visit again. read more
