My family and I had a reservation here for 11:30am on a Saturday and got seated immediately. Both indoor and covered outdoor seating is available but I'd recommend sitting outside to enjoy the ocean views. I ordered the green veggie curry (this is a vegetarian option although you can add chicken) and I really liked the coconut curry sauce. The pulled pork sandwich my dad had was a bit dry and the fries were overly salted, but overall it was still a decent meal. The clam chowder was creamy and quite filling despite the small serving size. Service was slow but as long as you're not in rush, it's all good. Loved that they offered a shuttle. View was wonderful. It's great to hear the waves while we ate. Beer was tasty. Our young server was not attentive and I got the feeling she really didn't want to work here. The food was not worth the price point at all. We sat outside and enjoyed our meal under the big umbrellas. We saw dolphins, pelicans, and gulls. The pretzel was soft and delicious. The shrimp taquitos were nothing short of amazing (they're on a specialty menu). The fish and chips were crispy and delicious (not oily at all). The burger was fantastic. Nelson's at Terranea was amazing! The wait was estimated at 30 mins but it was shorter than that. Henry was our server and made our visit absolutely phenomenal. He was attentive and ensured we were taken care of our entire visit. We brought our dog and the first thing he did was take care of her with a fresh bowl of water. Whenever we stay at Terranea, Nelson's is a must! During our last visit, we ate there twice. The seafood Cobb is not only my favorite menu item, it's also my favorite salad among salads anywhere else! It's truly fantastic. The view at Nelson's can't be beat and the food is great. Service is usually really good as well. There is always a line though so reservations are highly recommended. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating. Although they have umbrellas, it can get pretty warm outdoors but I still recommend seating outside if possible. read more

We've frequented Nelson's over the years and are sorry to say it's not aging well. Went Saturday night to celebrate a family birthday. After being greeted without so much as a grin, we were seated at a nice table overlooking the water. Unfortunately, that's where the positive comments end. Our server was very friendly, but incredibly ineffective. Took three trips to bring our drinks (5 adults and 2 kids). Ordered chips and salsa and guacamole. Mixed bag here. Everyone enjoyed the guacamole, the salsa was almost flavorless and the chips were dense and lacked seasoning. Two orders of shrimp tacos were okay. The ahi tuna sandwich was okay. Fish and chips were good. And the chicken sandwich was okay. But come on here. In the past all dishes were quite good. On top of that, it took a long time to be served. We waited over 15-minutes after clearing the plates to find out the birthday dessert was still not ready. Thankfully the server arrived about 5-minutes later with the birthday dessert in a to-go box. The gorgeous visuals at Nelson's remain the same. But you're paying a lot for an adequate meal and inept service. This might have been our last visit. read more

This is my absolute favorite spot to grab drinks on a beautiful day out. I brought my best friend here for her birthday so we could take in the scenes and have a nice lunch. We were both craving sandwiches so she got a burger and I got the chicken sandwich. The burgers come with fries. We had zero complaints and they were cooked perfection. The flavor was really good and our waiter was friendly and quick. We walked around the resort for a little bit as well to take some photo opportunities while we were there as well. Excellent place to eat while at the resort or otherwise!! It has limited vegetarian options, even more so if you are someone like us who does not include eggs in their diet. Unfortunately the friers common and so all fried options are out for us as well. Having said that what we did eat was excellent with great service and quality. Since they were really busy service was okay.My wife and her parents often go there for dinner. That was my first time. Near the resort has a public parking and valet parking as well. From the resort to the restaurant you can Walk with a beautiful view and wild rabbits for 6 minutes, they will give you the instructions or they provide the shuttle service as well by luxury car. My son took me here for a belated Mother's Day lunch. The service here was excellent. The waitress was very attentive and came and checked on us often. The view is unbeatable. The menu is mostly predictable and the quality was just okay. It's a little unfortunate that the places with the views rarely follows thru with substance. Nothing about our meals was worth mentioning. The service was good and the food was served promptly. The restaurant is a 5 minute stroll from the hotel entrance. They offer a tram ride but take the stroll if weather is nice. Self parking is available but valet parking is available for $10 with validation. read more

Im a bit torn on this review so please allow me to explain. Service and location are for sure 5 stars. The views and property are stunning and perfect for not just your meal but a stroll before or after. Our server was phenomenal. She even served up some history on the area which was fascinating. Food was a solid 3. I know it's a sports bar vibe but it I don't think that necessarily means compromising quality. It wasn't bad by any means it just wasn't great. Definitely some room for growth here. I'm always a fan of a smaller menu and improving the effort and quality of ingredients used. Drinks were a solid 4. With so many options for dining in SoCal I unfortunately wouldn't return to Nelson's but I would try another restaurant on the property since it's so stunning. read more

Nelson's Ambiance and location is top notch. But, appetizers and salad we had were awful. Crispy Chicken wings tasted low grade not much taste wasn't crispy at all. Ceviche was tasteless, chips wasn't fresh tasting, Cesar salad, wasn't fresh lettuce looked like wilted sitting out too long. They need to improve their apps tremendously. We've been going there for years. But always tried their entree this time we wanted to have different appetizers to taste it was disappointing.
