Great little spot! I haven't been in a while, but every time I've gone, Kevin and Lucy have been amazing. They're the sweet couple who own the salon, and you can tell they really care about their work and their clients. Both of them are super kind, professional, and reliable. The salon is always clean, and they put so much effort into making sure your nails look great--while still working quickly and efficiently. On top of that, their prices are very reasonable, which makes the quality of their work even more impressive. One thing to note: since it's just the two of them running the salon, they do tend to stay busy and booked up. I definitely recommend calling ahead to make an appointment rather than just walking in, so you can make sure you get a spot. I was here two weeks ago to change the nail art I had done. That visit involved something very different...I had hologram flakes affixed to my nails with a gel top coat. I was disappointed that the nails started chipping/breaking within a couple of days. I blame it on the flakes...for some reason the powder didn't adhere very well to only where the hologram flakes were placed. So, I went back to Neo Nails today to completely change the design. I went for a tri-color look on my natural nails (I have never had tips attached). Vivian, as usual, did a fabulous job. And, I was even more happy when she gave me a discount on today's work. I have been searching a long time for a great nail salon and I've finally found one! Neo Nail's are great! The quality of their work is sooooo goood and what I mean by that is they last up to 3 weeks to 1 month without lifting. Their powder is tough! I hate places that don't do a good job and the nails would just fall off in a couple of days. Although, the price is kind of high for a full set, gel. ($45) but that's with design and 2 color powder. I think it's totally worth it if it's going to last me for awhile. If you want something less they also have it too. I recommend this place to everyone! Vivian and Kelly are the two that I go to. Vivian can draw very nice designs and will make you happy! She's off on Mondays. I usually just walk in and wait a little, but that's early in the morning. I wanted to love this place. The nail techs are friendly, they do an amazing job. I booked an appointment for three pedicures 10 minutes before coming in and they were so accommodating. The reason for two stars is for their disinfection. Sanitation seems good as they have a UV light with all of their clean tools visible. The down fall was after my pedicure I watched them sanitize the pedicure tub simply with soap and water. That's not sanitizing and completely against state board regulations. There was not ONE disinfection ( Barbicide ) container in site. Most places will use disposable bags over there tubs for a faster clean up that was not the case here. Please beware this is how infections and disease spread. Hopefully they get updated on proper sanitation and State-board Standards. read more

I've been coming here for years and after not coming for a almost 8 months I recently ventured back in and walked out with 5 infected toes between my two feet this is by far the worst. I went in and spoke with the owner who again I've been coming to for years and has personally been doing my nails he accused me of doing something to my bails to make them this way . It was only hours later that they started pussing and hurt extremely bad. The two women were screaming at me cursing while I had my two children under 6 with me at the time when I came back in to show them... per their request he refused to refund me. I've been going to Neo Nails for almost 4 years now and have had my fair share of ups and downs. But needless to say Vivian is the best and I always make sure she does my fills. Nikki also does a good job. I go in have a seat, pick a glitter color for my tips and let Vivian go crazy with the designs. She always does an awesome job and is very creative. I bring in stickers and pictures and she makes it happen. I always get great comments on my nails. Vivian is by far the best there!!! As for the new staff, BEWARE! Burns, cuts, bleeding! Unfortunately looks like their manicurists do not even know basics about the manicure. For example, structure of a nail. I simply wanted my gel to be removed, every person who touches customer's nails in the salon MUST know how to do this. I can accept uneven shape, poor color job etc (that's why I don't go to such salons normally) but I can not accept my nails to be damaged by someone who I'm paying. The manicurist cruelly broke my nails. I am attaching 3 pictures of my nails: one with a normally removed gel from a thumb (apparently she just haven't finished removing it yet) and 2 pics with a "fully" removed gel (and nail plate as well). I just moved down the street and wanted to find a close by spot to keep up my acrylic fills and pedis. I just had my nails done one week prior for my wedding and afterwards, I had to move. Boxes did a number so I found this place to get my nails fixed before my first day of work. Kevin did my nails, and though he was fast, he was lazy. My nails did less than 30 seconds in the dryer for shellac, and it requires at least 60. The pictures show how WET my nails we're, even a week later! I would get a weird bump and once I pushed it a bit, red polish came LEAKING OUT OF MY NAILS! I went back immediately after the 1st nail did this, he said "Oh, it's not dry!"...um, duh. But a week later!?? NEVER GOING HERE AGAIN! WASTE OF MONEY! **Also, their basic pedi at $20 had no callus removal or foot massage. I've had better elsewhere. WAY BETTER! Ok, finally I'm able to update my reviews here. Due to I don't wanna bring the drama to the lady who did my nails, so I kept my mouth shut for LONG!! As I mentioned, the owner asked me to take the last appointment as she requested. (Please take a look my last review.) I walked in to the shop on time and I sat down right away. There was few customers in the store, so I was waiting my next up. Although the owner was staring at me and wasn't too friendly, but I still smiled to her. After couple minutes, the owner walked toward me and said she wanted to talk to me privately. She walked away without my response, so I could only followed her steps. ***************(((((HERE IS THE DRAMA STARTED!!!)))))*************** The owner closed the door after I walked into the room. The whole atmosphere was really weird. She took out a printed paper with my yelp review on it and started blaming me why I have to commenting on her. I replied, hey, it is yelp, I could write all the truth. The owner was way over the border and reached my boiling point. She kept on yelling at me saying it will affected her reputation and businesses. Oh, come on, how come the customer got yelled by the store owner because of a three stars reviews? If she never gave me hard time on my visits, bad review will never appear. Bottom line, IT WAS THE TRUTH!! Anyway, she held me inside the room over 30mins. YUP, over 30mins!!!! I couldn't held back anymore, I fought back at the end. I asked her will she ever dragged me into the room and persecuted me if I'm a 40-50 years old Caucasian Lady? Because I'm a 20ish young looking Asian girl, so she was free to oppress me? Finally she shut her mouth after I asked her a straightforward question. Oh my god, I have no idea where was the owner came from. She should improve her customer services, but blaming why the customers give her bad reviews!!! It's not in my nature to write a bad review for fellow stylists in this industry but this visit was unacceptable. I saw Vivian before and she moved. I called Vivian and she was all booked for the evening, not a big surprise. I really needed a fill so I came back to Neo's nails to get it done. I didn't want a full set, I just wanted a fill. So I walk in and politely greeted everyone. They saw my nails and insisted I get a new set. I said no, I like the hologram tips I have. They spoke in Vietnamese back and forth and then she went at it. She drilled my old set and then filled it. This took no longer than 30 minutes. I noticed that even with my new fill I could see the gel with my old set. My nail bed is two-toned. I asked her, "how come on my pinky I can't see it, but the other nails I can see the old set". She proceeded to say "you came in too late it's already grown out and your old fill use to be pink but it's too old" That was a paraphrased version. I paid the $20 and walked really fast out the door. I went to cosmetology school. The reason why I can see my old fill is because she didn't take her time to drill the other set down first, and since my first set of nails was clear I was able to see the "two tone" because she filled it with PINK acrylic. WHY oh WHY did I decide to go to this place!! My friend and I wanted to get our nails done (and pedicure for her also), but the normal place she and I go to were both closed for Monday. So, we decided to try some place new (BIG mistake!). I came across Neo Nails on Leigh and read their suprisingly good reviews on yelp, not to mention I saw all the awesome nail designs they could do, and decided that Neo Nails would be the perfect place to go. I made the appointment for my friend and I for 4pm and I showed up a little early also, it didn't seem very busy (but later found out they were short of staff due to the "remodeling.") Well, the owner took my friend 15 mins. after her appt. to start her pedicure. I then waited for 30 mins! and another women walked in (at 4:30) that also had an appt. at 4o'clock and was helped out right away!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! I was confused and asked why I hadn't been helped as I had been waiting (now) for OVER 30 mins, she then told me that the woman ALSO had a 4o'clock appt. Well okay then why can't she wait another 30 like me?! I just thought that was so rude! Now, I am honestly a very kind person and wasn't rude to the women at all, I was as kind as I could be in asking them why I hadn't been helped first but they just kept saying I would be "helped out soon." So, I just texted my friend (sitting in the pedicure chair) and told her I was going to find some place else. So I went to PEARL NAIL on Bascom ave. and they were just great!! My friend had texted me and told me something went wrong with her nails at Neo Nails, and she then came over to Pearl Nail to show me. She showed me her nails and oh my gosh! They look HORRIBLE!! She told me that the woman had no clue what she was doing, her nails were super bumpy, and they had to give her a discount because the nail woman messed up! SO, the woman at PEARL NAIL had to FIX what was NOT her mistake, and boy did it look SO much better! And to add to ALL OF THIS, my friend said the place was so unclean, and the woman kept telling her it was because of the re-modeling! That is definitely NO excuse! I absolutely LOVE this place it's not only clean, but comfortable and the service is wonderful!!! Sally is my girl, she does a kick a** job. I have always had a problem with my nails lifiting because of my oily nail beds....no more! I never have a lifted nail with Sally, Tina too!!! Vivian is really good for pedicures, she really takes her time about 35-45 mins. which I love!!! Great chairs too!!! Kelly is the best! I thought after the renovation I thought they were gonna be all stuck up but nope my nails are as pretty as they can be! My nails last long everytime I come here which may not be good for their business because I don't come as often but I'm such a regular that even if I break a nail, she'll fix it no charge! Kelly actually talks to me and she actually isn't talking in a different language a lot which sometime bothers me because I don't know if they're talking about me. Okay...so have you ladies seen the photos that Michelle N. uploaded on Neo Nail's page?! If you haven't, then go check them out! The designs on her nails are so classy and unique! I've envied them for quite sometime now, but I never got my nails done there because I always thought her nails were acrylic; and I prefer to keep my natural nails. After Michelle N. confirmed that they were in fact her natural nails with only a thin layer of gel on top, I knew I had to give Neo Nails a try! I came in the afternoon when all the nail technicians were busy. I only waited about ten minutes before I was attended to. I basically got a manicure with a thin layer of gel added on top of my naturals to allow the polish to stay on longer. The nail technician who started my manicure had an appointment come in mid-way so she handed me over to another lady. They didn't wear uniforms, nor did they wear name tags so I had no clue who was doing my nails. They were both thorough and gentle. I wasn't ready for a pedicure, but the spa chairs looked super comfy. The only gripe I have about this place is the air. I don't think they have a very good ventilation system that filters out the pungent smell of acetone and polish. I'll only be back if I decide to get a gel set again. read more

This place is just HORRIBLE! im not sure how they made the newspaper( which is blasted everywhere in the salon) Arriving here 20 mins before closing, the manager said she would take me in for a pedicure. I then instantly go to the wall of nail polish and look for a color. Theres a woman sitting at one of the tables telling me to get Gel color which lasts sooooo much longer etc I tell her no im okay thanks ive had it before and I always have bad luck with it. She tries and tries to sell me on it, so like a dumba** i give in. During the pedicure, shes clipping at my cuticles pretty hard which actually hurt and just the whole entire time she was pretty rough. I can see being the last one in there and wanting to hurry up and leave, but that doesnt give you the right to rush just because the owner left. When it was time to paint the nails she ran to the bathroom with leaving the door open and i can just hear her pee while sitting in the chair. Whoever said Neo Nails is dirty , is a hater....They are very clean, nice,not rude...Sally is the best there..If you can't get her try Tina..I've been going there for 5 years & have all 9 of my girlfriends going there as well....I had to write a review to defend them!!! They sterilize everything, don't try & upsell you & the most important part...They never do a rush job, unless you ask....When you get the pedi, make sure you get the leg scrub!!! I went to Neo Nails about 6 months ago based on the yelp reviews. I was disappointed. I had my French acrylic done, but my nails came out crooked and way too thick, and the white part was so out of proportion that it made my fingers look short and fat! FIRST OF ALL, MAKE SURE YOU ARE READING ABOUT AND POSTING ABOUT THE RIGHT PLACE! Another nail salon in San Jose is using the same name, and in some cases, I think people are posting bad reviews about the OTHER place. The original Neo Nails is on LEIGH. I have been going to this salon for at least 6 years. Have I ever gotten a less-great-than-other-times pedicure or full set? Yes - they have some turnover and there are techicians who are better than others. But the long term ladies are almost all great. I am a loyal customer - we even had my daughter's bridal shower here. The shop is clean - they clean, vacuum and disinfect every day (I know, because I am often the last customer at night). I have never gotten an infection, and I always have them cut ingrown toenails on 4 toes. My fills with glitter tips almost never break, and last 3 - 3.5 weeks. They can almost always accommodate my daughter and me on relatively short notice, and they remember my preferences (short, square round nails). I don't request any specific technician. There is one regular lady there I don't care for, but I don't refuse to have her do my nails because I'm not that picky, and the massage chairs are getting old - minor complaints, but the only reason I'm not giving 5 full stars - for now. read more

Three points: 1) The customer service here is awful (and that's the understatement of the year)! I kept my head down and forced a smile in an effort to hopefully dodge the wrath that every customer around me was experiencing and I did. Things observed included: snapping back at customers, throwing manicure bottles, grabbing and snagging peoples feet while huffing and puffing that they had to clean up their work, two or three workers "ganging up" on a customer reprimanding her for wanting a thinner line on her french pedicure, and several other uncomfortable/awkward instances that made me wonder why in the world I hadn't made an appointment with my usual place. 2) It's a real shame, because they actually do a pretty good job on the nails. Though, my big toes hurt for about a week because they were so rough. (I generally like a stronger hand when I get my pedicures). Hence, the two star review. 3) This place is not in willow glen. I was really looking forward to a relaxing pedi & mani at Neo Nails. Unfortunately I felt like it was more of a IN & OUT burger joint. The pedi & mani comes with a quick foot massage after the soaking and cleaning but I DO NOT consider 5 min a massage and then the " HOT TOWEL" meaning were done. AND you can option to pay addition $5 dollars for extra 5 minute massage (more like count to 5) - Uh.... yea NO! They take their time to make sure that all the nails are perfect. When I've gotten my nails done at other places, I always notice that some aren't straight or that the lengths are different. Overpriced for the quality....$75 for a pedicure, fill, & eyebrows. The fill on my nails, while initially looking very pretty, began falling apart the next day, which is outrageous, because I'm used to paying about $16 for a fill, and they charged me $25 for this hot mess it turned out to be! I don't know what kind of diluted or inferior acrylic filler they utilize at this salon, but my nails were starting to lift, and by the end of the week, the nails looked wrecked! Totally disappointed. As for my pedicure, the toe nail polish was chipping the next day as well, and apparently they have something against using personal nail polish (I had brought my own), so I picked one of their colors, and it was a fail! Everything just seems to be fabulous on the surface, but falls apart when you leave the salon. This place gets one star because the eyebrows were waxed perfectly & with great precision! I would come back just for my eyebrows, period. Not to mention they made a big deal about the tip being in cash, which is not common in San Francisco & Sacramento salons at all. I went here with some friends a few months back and I got a gelish manicure, and it lasted 5 weeks :) Mainly because my nails grow very slowly, but Cindy is amazing, always smiling great to talk to, and she does a great job !! I only give it 4 stars because it is pricey but its still worth it for me being a swim instructor in the pool 25 hours a week, regular nail polish comes off the next day but m shellac lasts me 5 weeks in heavily chlorinated pools :D love it !! read more

Came into the establishment and asked if they had the plastic liners for the footbath and they said yeah with an attitude it's 3 dollars extra.. extra for you to be sanitary?? That's law! I am a licensed cosmetologist. She became even more upset when i asked for a new nail buffer and file .. she start snatching on my feet and being rough... please be aware.. your health is at risk if the same tools are being used for different people.. they wear the same gloves.. there was no soap or pre soak in my footbath and they wear gloves which I'm sure are being reused hence the yellow stains that were on them. I just recently moved back closer to this area & I saw this salon as I was heading to the taqueria on the corner & I decided to come in. It's very clean and the staff is friendly but they should really stick to one price of the nails and/or explain the price difference when they change it. I came in for the $25 nails and they charged me $40 because it was a new set and they gave me gel. The refill is $30 for the gel set which is a pretty good price for them, and $3 for a broken nail. Overall, pretty good experience. I don't recommend the gel nail polish because my mom's fell off a few days after we got them done. read more

Tried this place thanks to Yelpers and I too was drawn in my the great pictures. I ended up with a new set of gel with glitter tips ($40 for the full set, $25 for fills) and my nails look fabulous! I opted for a pedicure and received both at the same time, but unlike other nail places, I was seated in the massage chair and the manicurist brought her stuff to me so I could enjoy the pedicure. They have a menu of added services you can opt into for your pedicure such as hot stone massage or hot oil for an additional $5. Their nail art....what can I say, beatiful. No over the top globuals of glitter with a rhinestone thrown in and called a "flower". My flower looks like a flower. This place is clean and the tools were removed from the sterilizer just before she used them on me. They carry OPI and China Glaze (as well as others) so there are a lot of choices with color. They have a book of pictures of actual nail designs on real people to check out including two different color powders. I think I have found my new favorite nail place!
