Mango bubble tea with flavorful jasmine tea
    Judy C.

First time here. I ordered spare ribs and it's pork fried rice and chicken pad Thai. Also got a mango bubble tea. Bubble tea was really good with the jasmine tea they used. For $4 something it was totally worth it. Bubbles were nice and chewy too. I can't say much about the spare ribs and fried rice but it looked delicious. Friend took it home, so I couldn't try it. The pad Thai was packed but lacked that sweet pad Thai flavor. Also smelled like mai fun more than pad Thai. I still ate it though bc it was ok and I generally hate pad Thai anyway. I only ordered it bc I wanted fried noodles that wasn't chow fun, mei fun, or Lo mein. Lol.

First time here since new owners took over. order beef fried rice and a pork egg roll. rice was not oily. In fact it was delicious and so was the egg roll. Friendly service and didn't have to wait long for my take out order. will try something different next time.

Amazing food, ordered shrimp w/ broccoli, jumbo shrimp w/ rice noodles & a rice noodle soup. Amazing taste, amazing customer service! I highly recommend this spot for your Chinese food needs.

    Fried chicken n brown rice

Fresh Fried Bird made to order. This Chinese takeout/bubble tea joint has no A/C. The workers looked miserable, especially slaving over that fiery wok over this unforgiving summer heat. Despite the sauna like working conditions, the owner was really polite and affable. I got half-fried chicken w/brown rice, hot wings, and a side of tostones/fried green plantains. The fried chicken wasn't overly salty and sort of reminded me of 'Roy Rogers' with a Chinese twist. The brown rice tasted quality, definitely better than the brown rice they give you at King Chef in the Pathmark shopping center. The hot wings were a little disappointing. The chicken wings would have been much better undressed with the salty version of General Tso's they slathered on em. I wish I had ordered my chicken wings plain. The tostones were made to order, and were delicious and plentiful. Would I come back?...yeah maybe if I'm in the neighborhood, but not something I'll crave and have continuous dreams about it. Better than average Chinese fast food fried chicken but no wow factor.

Super oily shrimp roll had to throw it away
    Mel R.

I would suggest never ordering from this place. This is a shrimp roll I ordered today on 1/1/19 it was so oily it was inedible. I also ordered broccoli and garlic sauce with pork fried rice. The rice was under cooked and hard and the broccoli had almost no flavor I had to throw it out. So I spent 11 dollars on dinner to end up still hungry. I called to let them know about the inedible egg roll so that it doesn't happen to other people and the girl on the phone hung up on me. I will never be ordering from here again.

Chicken and broccoli with white rice.

Food is great and fast delivery. Food is warm and hot when delivered to us. The best restaurant in the neighborhood for the price.

Check in at the kiosk when you arrive and stay close by--we missed our name being called and had to wait another 30 minutes after an already 2-hour wait for our party of five. Once seated, we understood why it's so popular. The restaurant features a beautiful water wheel, multiple levels of seating, and a lively atmosphere. You customize your meal by choosing your broth, meats, vegetables, and sauces. We started with the spicy broth, but it was overloaded with chili peppers for our taste, so we switched to the herbal broth, which was rich, fragrant, and absolutely delicious. The fresh ingredients were the highlight. We enjoyed the water spinach so much that we ordered three servings. Other favorites included the milky beef, lotus root, beef balls, bean curd sheets, and several other fresh selections. The extensive sauce bar let everyone create their perfect dipping sauce. Considering the generous portions and quality, the prices were very reasonable. The wait is long, but the outstanding food makes it worthwhile. I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in Flushing.

We choose to sit on the tatami mats, so shoes come off. The tell you to go get your sauces, but don't tell you that there's a $2 charge for them. We got the meeting spicy broth and the mushroom broth. The spicy broth was covered completely in dried red peppers. It definitely infused the food with spice. The broth themselves weren't amazing. They were fine. Their homemade rice wine on the other hand is absolutely delicious. I would go back for that alone. Their snacks, the fried broad beans, and seeds were very good. The cabbage was also delicious and fresh. The duck tongue was absolutely delicious, as were the beef balls. All the mushrooms were very good. The beef tongue was eh... the premium lamb was better. The taro balls took a very long time to cook.. the glass noodles disintegrated in the broth. Overall, the ambiance is what made the meal great, it was cozy and pretty. The broth, the meat were okay. Glad I tried it, but there are better spots for the food hot pot... just not as good of an ambiance as here.

I am harsh on Shanghainese restaurants because I grew up eating the real thing and just visited Shanghai last year. However, this restaurant has become the standard by which I judge Shanghainese cuisine in NYC nowadays. Let's start with the Shanghainese style dim sum that I love. As consistent as anywhere, I believe they have my personal favorite Steamed Soup Dumplings. I'm even a fan of their large gimmicky ones (though a real thing from Yangzhou, China) with the straw, especially the crab and abalone version. Another top notch item is the Turnip Puffs, which has a fantastic filling and amazingly crispy and airy crust. Most of the other dim sum items are decent. When it comes to the cold and hot dishes, they do most of the traditional stuff well enough. Not always up to my standards, but most people I have taken there enjoy it enough. I do like their Stir Fried Rice Cake w/ Sheperd's Purse & Shredded Pork, ad well as their Duck Vermicelli Soup. Also, since they started working with Corner 28, their Cantonese food game stepped up quite a bit. Roast pork and Roast Crispy Pig are both really solid. Pan Fried Shrimp & Chive Dumplings are good too. There are a few other Shanghainese restaurants that do certain dim sum or dishes better, but I do believe Shanghai You Garden is currently the best overall Shanghainese restaurant in NYC.

The environment is clean, and staff was welcoming when I dined here on a Friday evening with other Yelp Elites. The restaurant filled up with people very quickly. I cannot remember having better Northeastern Chinese food anywhere. The food came with an amazing presentation, taste, freshness and quality. I am a huge fan of the Cumin Flounder, which is crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. It is the best flounder that I have ever tasted in my life! The Beef Tenderloin in Brown Sauce is to die for. I loved the Minted Salted Egg Yolk and Sliced Pumpkin so much that I will come back here to order it for Thanksgiving dinner. If you can handle the spice, go for the Fried Squid Head with Spicy Peppery Sauce. It was the table favorite because most of us prefer the head or tentacles of calamari to the rings. The Molten Sugar-Crusted Yams and Dates were phenomenal. It came with a bowl of water on the side to remove stickiness from the serving spoon between helpings. We also feasted on the Sautéed Shredded Beef with Spicy Pepper, Cumin Lamb, Sliced Potatoes with Truffles and Salt and Pepper Shrimp. The pickled salad certainly tickled my fancy. TIP: Eat everything with chopsticks for portion control. Thank you Andie for putting this all together, and the birthday cake that Mike bought for you was a decadent surprise because it was so chocolatey and moist.
