I came here for dinner with a girlfriend. It was literally the most delicious food I've ever had, and I like to consider myself a "foodie." We sat at a table right by the kitchen, so we could see the chef and his crew cooking away. I wouldn't recommend ordering a bottle of wine though... Super expensive. But whatever you order is amazing. I recommend the fish entree and the oysters for an appetizer. The flavors in both were out of this world. The staff is extremely friendly and warm, too. I would give this place 10 stars if I could. We left full but not feeling like we needed to be rolled out of there. read more

My first time at Nick's a couple of weekends ago was definitely an experience that makes me want to go back. We were seated promptly on a Saturday morning at 10! The food was very good--I went for the basics (two eggs, spuds, toast). A couple things, though: our cups of coffee were way expensive, I thought. I don't remember exactly but they were over $3. I find that a bit excessive even if they do serve Illy. Also the noise can be an issue. We were sitting over by the open kitchen which made carrying on a conversation somewhat difficult. Still, overall, I think it's a great place and I'm going to go back (just won't get coffee next time!). read more

I went to Nick's with my girlfriends last week to celebrate my birthday. It could not have been a better meal! We had the chef's tasting menu with the wine pairings...it's a birthday tradition for the 3 of us. The meal was creative, delicious, fresh, local and perfectly paired with the wine. The atmosphere at Nick's is another reason to go. The open kitchen is great to watch, every single person on the staff is friendly and has a love of food. We waited in line for about an hour on Saturday afternoon to get brunch at Nick's, but it was worth it. The food is tasty and original, the portions are generous, and the prices are lower than you'd expect. It's hard to be disappointed. A late morning breakfast at Nick's on a Sunday morning was one of my dining highlights on a recent New England road trip. The place is quite small and very popular so you will have to wait and it will be loud. But, who cares when you are dining in a light-filled spot with excellent service, and are served ridiculously well-prepared food that is reasonably priced. I liked everything about my meal at Nick's (veggie frittata made with locally-sourced eggs, thickly-sliced wheat toast, and a fantastic gunpowder green tea) and so did my dining companion. We were in town for a day and ALL of the locals recommended Nick's...we were NOT let down! The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is because we had to wait for 45 minutes to be seated. We ended up sitting at the bar next to the kitchen area and were HIGHLY entertained by how the owner runs the place. He puts the finishing touches on EVERY meal that leaves the kitchen...rare to find someone who cares that much these days! He even sent a couple of meals back to the cooks because they were not quite up to his standard. Because our food took a little while, he kept us entertained with a few appetizers until our meal was served. One of the best breakfast places around NE, the food presentation was none but in an art form, like the kitchen set up too, we were sat at the bar where was facing the open kitchen. The stuffs were amazingly efficient, and most important thing is, they looked like they were having so much fun,cooking, and making your stomach so happy. The orange juice was amazing, I know, you will think orange juice is just orange juice, right? No, you are wrong, that was some orange juice, the best so far. The French toast dipped in vanilla cream and top with just the right amount of power super and the real maple syrup , was absolutely delicious, the yogurt parfait with granola and local selected seasonal fruit was nothing but a treat, there are so many things on the menus we have yet to explore, well, I guess that gives us more reasons to go back again. The best thing happened there today was a very sweet and nice thing that the couples sat next to us did for us. I went there with my fiancé, he just proposed to me the night before at the Dorrence. And we just mentioned it to them while we were chatting about the restaurant when they asked how we found this place, and the next thing I know , they left the restaurant with our food paid and on top of that ,they asked the chef to send us a sweet treat with a cute scoop of ice cream on top of the carrot cake with some delicious caramel sauce dripped over it. We were really shock, and felt extremely blessed , in some way, we both felt like at that moment, God'd was sending His blessings through this couples of strangers who we just met and who we hardly know. Knowing that Nicks on Broadway was a Farm-to-Table restaurant, we were excited to try this restaurant for the first time. We had a reservation for 5:30pm, however the doors didn't open until till 5:45pm which was a bit confusing. Once the doors were opened we were seated immediately, and enjoyed the atmosphere of the restaurant. The menu format was a bit congested, however it listed every farm they support and use in their dishes, which was nice to know. After we ordered our entrees, we were treated with a complementary tasting, which was satisfying. Our waiter was very tentative, and the bus boys were constantly filling our water glasses. One problem we noticed was not all of the dishes were cooked in a timely manner, so they came out a couple minutes apart from each other. Our party of four ordered the Monkfish, the Lamb special, and two of the Beef dishes. All were very good, especially the Lamb special that was on the menu that night. After our meals were finished we decided to get dessert. We got the special, which was a variety of corn based cakes and ice cream. They were very good, except the corn cake was a bit dry. Overall, we thought the dining experience was very good, and the wait staff was friendly and informative! read more

The food here is good but we had a terrible experience with their tasting menu. They serve tiny portions of food and we left hungry. $65/person gets you 1/2 a cup of soup, a piece of fish the size of a scallop, 2 baked oysters and three pieces of cheese the size of fingernails (with bread). I said something and the manager said things like "nobody else has complained", "its not intended to make you feel full". The interaction basically spoiled the evening. There is some basic responsibility that is being forgotten by these arrogant foodies that serve these little smears of food on huge beautiful porcelain plates and bowls and spoons. Can someone tell me what the big deal is about this place? I went for breakfast when a friend from out of town visited and we were both unimpressed. We had to wait forever because seating is limited and the food was sub-par. Maybe I just like traditional breakfast foods better, but even so, our service was mediocre. Was there about two weeks ago. There was a bit of a wait to get seated for brunch, and then a three-cups-of-coffee wait to get served. Parking can be a bit of a challenge, but I got lucky, And it was so worth it! It *is* a bit noisy, especially if you're seated at the bar looking into the kitchen. The chefs sent out samples of their signature dishes for us because he knew we were from out of town. The food is good. The flavors are unique and enjoyable, but we will not be returning to Nick's in the near future. The service and the timing of the food leaves much room for improvement. This is our second time at Nick's, the first was for breakfast and we just arrived home from dinner. As Providence residents, we were excited for our first dinner experience at Nick's because we have heard a lot of positive feedback on the cuisine. It's unfortunate that the service was so terrible because the food really is quite good. I'm giving only two stars because the overall experience was very disappointing. Tonight we waited over an hour for our entree's, and the restaurant wasn't even full! Not only that but while we were waiting for our dinner we also had to wait 25 minutes for a beverage refill, and we were sitting at the bar! The bartender and the waitstaff were nice enough, and apologized for our wait - we couldn't help but think there must be some problems in the kitchen and/or management since it was clear that the wait for the food was unacceptable and they should have had two bartenders on staff (or one bartender and a bar back). Lastly, when the check came it added another level of disappointment. The price point would have been more acceptable if the service was on point and the portions were a little bit larger. Also, FYI - the first time we went breakfast was delicious, but we were there for over three hours! We figured we would give it the benefit of the doubt before yelping, but now that both of our experiences at Nick's was a whole lot of waiting and a little bit of eating we felt it was time to spread the word. read more

Not a fan! Had a very negative experience. I found the atmosphere very loud and crowded. No room to move at all. We ordered basic breakfast food (eggs/pancakes), it took 45 minutes for our order to be served. The restaurant was filled but not packed, (meaning no reason for a 45 minute wait). I also found the food salty. If I am going to spend $60 on breakfast (2 adults, 2 kids), I absolutely don't expect to leave the restaurant feeling aggravated. read more

If there were less than 1star I would have chose that. If you go with a party of more than 2 and are told there will be a wait of 2 hours expect to wait longer even if they tell you it's 2 hour wait. No system at all to seat people, after waiting the 2 hours the suggestion to split our party was suggested however 4 would have to sit before the 3 ...!!! Very unfortunate to go expecting a wonderful meal only to have to walk out due to lack of experience in seating people. As customers come to your establishment, large party or not, you should not expect patrons to watch customers come and go because it's convenient to seat parties of 2 before larger parties. read more

I like a traditional American breakfast. Nick's is as good as it gets. It seems like they're waiting for you with coffee. Eggs, sausage, toast and home fries are not a big ideal but they are always perfect at Nick's. read more
