    blueberry and cream cheese danish

i came here early this morning on a whim, as i happened to be in the area. i was greeted immediately by two friendly faces who were more than willing to be patient with me while i perused the options. they helped me on my journey to choosing a blueberry danish which made my taste buds SING. on top of everything, this place is just CUTIE and i really want to come back next time im in the area. i think next time ill try the scones or the ham and cheese croissant. with a sourdough loaf for later ;) the bakers who helped me at the register did say they get pretty busy around lunchtime, just fyi for those reading!

Great experience, friendly staff. The ambiance on the outdoor patio was just what I was looking for.

Ninth Street Bakery has great quality breads and pastries. They have a $3 day old shelf that is often filled with sliced bread, brioche, cookies, and muffins. I love swinging by on a work day to get a treat. Pictured below: olive rosemary sliced bread.

Absolutely freakin' fantastic bread at a fair price. And in honor of Pride Month, they even flour stenciled some of the loaves with LGBTQ+ lettering. How thoughtful and supportive is that? The loaf we got was one of the best loaves of bread I've ever eaten. It toasted so well with a crispy crust but still hearty, bready inside. Great with just butter, or butter and cheese or charcuterie. All I can say is I'm actually glad this place is in Durham rather than Asheville, or I'd be eating basically nothing but their bread. P.S. It smells great if you even just walk by this place.

Cool spot to sit and watch the operation.

The danish and the croissant that I ate was delicious. The prices are too expensive but the service was good.

Great local bakery, perfect for a quick lunch and a loaf of bread for the week. Not much GF available, still, this is a neighborhood gem.

My friends who came with me got two savory crepes and both of them loved their food. We also appreciated that you had the opportunity to either order food on your phone or have a live server. The reviews were glowing, and repeatedly warned about the wait, that my expectations were probably set too high going in. I got the steak and eggs crepe and added avocado, extra steak, and kale. The eggs sit on top, and mine came closer to over-hard than the over-medium I asked for -possibly from sitting in the to-go box for 15 minutes, so I'll give some benefit of the doubt there. The crepe itself was tasty, and honestly I'd come back to try something off the sweets menu. But the fillings didn't land. The steak was a little chewy, and the mushrooms were cut too thick for a crepe -- they made it hard to cut cleanly and felt out of place. The add-ons I'll leave alone since those were my call. Overall the dish felt fairly run-of-the-mill against the hype. One note: this might be a dish better served by not allowing customizations, to keep it consistent to its intent. What threw me is that "steak and eggs" is the menu item, yet they also offer a carne asada crepe with no eggs ...so the only real difference is eggs placed on top, which doesn't change the crepe itself. Felt clear as mud after unboxing my meal. The latte I got was standard. Nothing wrong with it, nothing memorable. TL:DR this read as a solid fallback breakfast more than the must-try the reviews promised. The dogs I saw at the outside tables kept this closer to a 3.5 than falling on the other side of 3.

There is plenty of parking on the backside of the building, paid parking out front, and be careful not to park in the apartment spaces on the side...they sounded pretty serious about towing. I had made a reservation but it was probably unnecessary as it was pretty empty when we arrived (it was about 5pm on a Saturday.) The waitress brought a bottle of water to the table and took our drink order. And I know that this place is literally call it's a Southern thing but can I mention how much I dislike drinking out of mason jars? I ordered the chicken n biscuits, my husband got the country hamburger steak plate, my BiL got wings, and my SiL got the crabcakes. We also orders charred jalapeno & sweet corn hushpuppies and frickles as an appetizer. I was VERY excited about my food. Y'all...the only thing that impressed me were the Frickles. Everything else was distinctly underwhelming. I also ordered Blackberry Betta Have My Money which was not that great. My SiL ordered a espresso martini that they said didn't come from a mix but she said it tasted like it was. The bathrooms were very clean. The decor and the vibe were great. Cute even. I really enjoyed that part of it. After dropping off our food, we never saw our waitress again unless we flagged her down for drink refills. It was especially frustrating since there was automatic gratuity added. And since the place wasn't that busy, it felt like she didn't feel the need to earn her automatic tip. Overall I was disappointed in my birthday dinner. I won't be coming back here.

The ambiance is absolutely stunning--warm, inviting, and thoughtfully designed. I honestly spent half the meal just taking it all in because every detail was beautiful.
