Ok people i ate here AGAIN I truly like this place they are so consistent I just don't like the calamari but everything else that I've tried is good

Delicious beef noodle soup Taiwan like.

Wow! Best beef noodles soup. Chewy noodles, rich broth. Flavor is Taiwan like. You got me at first spoonful. Nice space, clean, airy & light. Lady server was very kind too. Attentive & efficient. I will travel from SF, take the red line Richmond train to Berkeley just to have your beef noodle soup

Simple, no frills restaurant with plenty of noodle dishes. I did wish they offered more vegetable dishes, but didn't see too many. I got a vegetarian hunan hot and sour soup noodle ($14.95) and had enough for 2 meals. It's not super spicy, and I thought it was reasonably priced. Again, I think if they added a few leafy greens, it would make the experience more enjoyable - at least for me! My partner got the chicken rice plate ($15.95) and he enjoyed the rice more than the chicken. Man ate the whole mountain of rice and this is from someone who doesn't really eat carbs! I stole some pieces of broccoli off his plate (can you tell I really like my greens?). It also came with a pre-packaged side of ginger scallion sauce, which was good, but I thought the packaging was unnecessary and quite wasteful, especially by Berkeley standards. Service was fine. They served the food and filled our waters every so often. Bathrooms were also surprisingly clean for a Chinese food restaurant.

Surprisingly delicious and filling meal! We came at 1:15 PM on a Sunday, and there were plenty of empty tables. Food and service were quick and efficient. Portions were generous and filling, and price point is very reasonable. The interior and bathrooms are super clean for such a legitimate Chinese restaurant. The restaurant is a block farther than the central hustle and bustle of downtown Berkeley/UCB, so it is easier to find parking near the restaurant. Starters: garlic cucumber and spicy cabbage were both delicious cold plates that came out immediately Entrees: hainan curry chicken is a sweet coconut milk type of curry with shaved coconut on top. the chicken chunks were the perfect texture and super tasty. my partner got the xinjiang lamb soup, and although it looks plain, it's very flavorful!

Came here on for a weekday lunch and we were so surprised to find so many nice decorations and very high ceiling in a small unassuming storefront. We were immediate seated. Ordered the xinjiang lamb bowl and yunnan over the bridge to share between two people. Noodles came pretty fast! So homey and nourishing. Great portions, very fast and attentive service. The soup was very mild and not too salty or heavy at all. Like something my mom would make when I got sick. Good portion of fish and meat as well. Overall would recommend!

I typically notice this place when I drive or walk by and on today's walk, I decided to go inside because why not. Inside is very spacious with lots of seating. There's tables as well as high chairs and bar seating. It's modern, but not that modern in terms of the decor. Service is quick and friendly and the food arrived in about 10 minutes. I got the Beef Tendon stew and it was delicious. Bowl of plain noodles, topped with tendon and flank, cilantro, pickled vegetables, peanuts, and this fantastic sauce that was slightly sweet and savory that added so much flavor to the dish. It was a nice portion and well worth the price. Overall, this place has amazing dishes with a wide variety of dry noodles and noodle soups so if you're in the area, go check them out!

Solid spot for Chinese noodles and dumplings in Berkeley! The portions were generous and pickup was easy when ordered online. There's a decent amount of seating inside and this restaurant is conveniently located close to Berkeley campus in downtown.

    Taiwan Beef Noodle Soup

Came to Berkeley for an event and needed a place to eat for an early dinner. I was craving Chinese and noodles with soup and Noodles Fresh popped up. It had what I was looking for and had good reviews so my boyfriend and I decided to give it a go. It was early so we were the only ones there, so it was quiet, but we didn't mind. There's the option order through their website/QR code on the table or the waitress. I ordered the Taiwan Beef Noodle Soup and my boyfriend got the Hainan Chicken Rice Plate. We shared a scallion pancake as an appetizer. I'd say the portions are a decent size and will keep you full. My noodle soup was perfect and exactly what I wanted. The Hainan chicken was really good and my boyfriend had to complaints eating the whole thing. The scallion pancake was flaky and had enough filling inside. Overall, the food was great and would come here again. It would be a spot I would take my family!

Nice quiet restaurant with a bar. It's a small mom and pop place with lots of seating. Very convenient location. They play jazz music. Great service. The hainan chicken and the "cousin sister" noodles are great.

We visited Noodle Fresh with high expectations. The service was excellent -- friendly and attentive -- and the space is surprisingly large, though it wasn't very crowded when we went. As for the food, it was a bit hit or miss: * BBQ Pork: Unfortunately, this was a bit too tough and lacked flavor. * Vegetarian Goose: Had a good seasoning, but the texture could've been softer -- it felt a little off. * Guilin Beef Noodle Stew: We thought it would be soup-based, but it turned out to be dry noodles with sauce. That said, the sauce had a nice savory-sweet balance. We'd actually give this dish another try. We wish we had ordered more from the fresh wok section -- it looked promising, so maybe next time we'll explore that part of the menu more. Overall, great service but the food didn't quite live up to the hype. Rating: 3/5

    Cumin Lamb
    Kelli K.

Ordered delivery from here and thought the food was decent. I ordered the potato salad, cumin lamb, and salt & pepper chicken wings. Everything arrived warm and everything seemed like small portions. The cumin lamb was okay. It had good flavor but did not taste as good as other restaurants. It had a light cumin flavor with a hint of gaminess. It also needed a bit of salt and more cumin flavor! The potato salad was interesting. It was slightly spicy and had a numbing effect on the tongue. A bit too much for me but still good when eaten in small portions. The salt & pepper chicken wings were okay as well. It was a small portions but tasted good. I love anything salt & pepper (e.g. Tofu, chicken wings, short ribs, etc.) Overall the food was decent.

About 40 mins later I had a pretty bad stomach ache and had to use the restroom. Not sure if it was a coincidence or what. My wife had a small amount and agreed that there was an odd taste but she didn't have any stomach issues after eating it (but she also only had a small bite). 2. Large Shrimp BK: This was alright. The noodles were significantly overcooked and bloated. Not sure how that happened since they looked like they were freshly making it. The shrimp tempura was good though. 3. Tempura Pumpkin, potato Croque, Sweet potato and Crab: Honestly the tempura was the best item on the menu. I really liked the Pumpkin and imitation crab while my wife liked the sweet potato the most. Under "Wraps," these are steamed tapioca balls filled with pork. The tapioca balls were fresh, soft, and chewy, while the pork filling was well-seasoned and balanced. It was served with lettuce, mint, and parsley. * MOK PA -- Steamed catfish with lemongrass, dill, onions, and wrapped in banana leaves. A favorite of mine! Light and aromatic. It was served with steamed veggie medley and jeow mak len (tomato dipping sauce with various spices). * EGGPLANT PRAWNS -- Seasoned and tasty. Eggplant and prawns cooked to perfection. Since it was lunch, there was a special for this entree. * FRIED CHICKEN WINGS w/ PAPAYA SALAD -- This was also a lunch special served with sticky rice. We were chatting with the owner, and she was kind enough to change it to Lao style, which is more pungent with the umami from fermented fish sauce. The wings were crispy, and the papaya salad was well-balanced and tasty. Discovering Lao Garden was a fantastic experience, and we truly enjoyed their delicious dishes. If you like Viet bánh bột lọc, this will be your jam. * Mok Pa: Steamed catfish w/ lemongrass, green onions, dill, steamed vegetables, jeow mak len ($22): https://tinyurl.com/yxrvnxjb The catfish was flaky and moist but the flavor was one note: earthy. I wished they used more fish sauce and aromatics (i.e. lemongrass and galangal) for citrusy umami. Served with steamed veggies with a traditional Laotian spicy roasted tomato dip that was not spicy at all. * Grilled Rack of Lamb (3 pc-$32): https://tinyurl.com/57hstz93 - Requested medium rare A touch overcooked but the marbled lamb was forgiving, it was still very tender with a great smoky char from the grill. Served with nam jim jaew that felt diluted as it was missing the bold spicy, tangy, salty, and slightly sweet flavors. * Sticky Rice ($8) Aside from the incredibly steep price for a single serving, they brought this with the apps so by the time our entrees arrived, the sticky rice had cooled and hardened. S E R V I C E Friendly and earnest. We had to flag them down for things but understandable since we were the only ones in the patio. We arrived for an early dinner and were the only customers at the time so it was surprising food service was slow with entrees taking 45+ minutes. A M B I A N C E Spacious and vibrant with faux greenery and flower walls. The back patio is partially covered. P A R K I N G They have a private parking lot in back but can easily be missed; take a right after April Rose Provisions. Overall, I had high hopes for Lao Garden but the flavors were far too mild for my personal taste. When I have Laotian food, I want to be punched in the face with funk, citrus/acid, and heat. Off day?

We got the pad thai and pad kee mao with a side of sticky rice. Everything was super tasty and flavorful. I really enjoyed the flat rice noodles. The sticky rice sides came wrapped in foil and were so compact (but delicious)!

One of the staff members were so sweet and regularly checked up on everyone, but our main server was incredibly rude. My vegetarian friend wasn't able to eat eggs but the rest of the table could, so we asked kindly if it's possible to just have it put on the side. I understand if they couldn't do it for whatever reason, but we were just met with so much passive aggressiveness for asking. It made the mood very unpleasant. But honestly, I find it strange as most restaurants are pretty understanding of dietary restrictions and can make modifications to cater to their many costumers. I previously had their pad thai for takeout in 2024 and remember being very disappointed. That said, I would give it another try if dined in. RECS: + Pad see ew ($16) was good, one of the better ones I've had + Green curry ($16) was delicious and full of flavor! + Crispy pumpkin ($10) had a light, airy coating of batter and was paired with a tasty sweet and sour sauce
