Never been to Norm's, but me and my 6 coworkers finished some training in the area and were hungry for some breakfast. Came around 0930 on a Monday and it was packed. Waited about 5 minutes and got a table. The server was very nice and working hard and she brought out all of our food at the same time. Came by several times to fill our coffee and checked with us to see if everything was ok. I got the Bigger better breakfast and it was alright. Lots of food, kinda bland, but it hit the spot. I think we know what we're getting when we come to a place like this so I wasn't expecting to be blown away. Lots of stuff on the menu to choose from. Decent prices. Good service. My family and I came to have a sit down breakfast Sunday and we had a great experience. We arrived around 9am. Placed our name down and was told to wait outside. Less than 10mins of waiting, they called our party and we walked through the restaurant to the back. They sealed off one entrance/exit to accommodate outdoor seating. Our waitress, Olivia, greeted us, took our drink orders, provided our drinks and took our meal orders. My two kids were so hungry and our waitress was kind enough to have their food come out first (this was so thoughtful). All of our food came out correctly but I was disappointed the pancakes had changed since my last before COVID visit. The pancakes are the main reason we come to norms so now that it has changed, I may not be visiting as much. Overall experience was great, Olivia was attentive, professional and kind. My fiance and I came here to have breakfast on my mother's 2nd death anniversary and they profiled my fiance and I and asked us to pay for our food before they even began making it the waitress literally just had taken our order. I will never return again my family and I went after the lunch rush and before the dinner rush. The food was disgusting the meatloaf was like it was frozen then cooked the veggies were old and the soup was tasteless. Busy breakfast spot for locals. I came in with family to eat and our waitress was tentative. The food was decent. I got eggs, bacon, sausage and pancakes. Shared the steak and biscuits and gravy off of my moms plate. The steak was on point! Recommend that if you're extra hungry! If you want a smaller meal, the B&G were also tasty on the menu. Bad side of this place is that they wouldn't honor the Yelp code that was offered. It took us 30 mins to check out while they kept ringing up the wrong tab (without the code). I found that most restaurants I've tried using these codes especially Cali have been shady towards these offers. Again food was good but service was...meh. read more

The service was okay but not great, but they were all still very kind even though they forgot where they sat me and I was left alone for a long while :D The diner vibes are nice and you get to try your hand at the elusive claw machine upon entry. I ordered the combo meal (which came with a fountain drink, a burger, and some fries) for a decent price and it was filling and it tasted good. As contained as the burger in the pic looks, it was very much falling apart and I don't know if it was the burger-to-sauce ratio or the way it was layered, but I was dropping onions and tomatoes and my patty was sliding out like it was lubed up and ready for a night in the Red Light District. The fries were plain (not soggy but not crispy), I couldn't even tell if they were salted, but the overpowering feeling of nostalgia I got from dining at Norm's made it all worth it. There's something about diners that never close, about the food and the drink and the way the vinyl seats sink, that makes me feel like if all of America were to collapse, the diner will prevail. read more

Came in today @ 8:45 and after being seated, our order was not taken until 8:59a and by the time it was put into their system it was 9:01 SO the senior discount was NOT offered since it was after 9a. This is WRONG on every level and the cashier who DOUBLES as a cook said it is what it is?!?!!!? We will NEVER be back for it was clear it was intentional to put the order in at 9:01 so we could not use the discount! If I could give my review 0 stars I would. I had an order to go and they forgot my orange juice. I came back to pick it up and the server, Briana, began yelling saying that we're stealing an orange juice because she claimed she gave it to us, and to keep our 3 bucks and how we're stealing from the company. It was ridiculous!! She was acting like A teen throwing a tantrum, and when she gave the orange juice she handed it to my dad very aggressively!! My family and I have been going to Norms for over 30 years. They've had some staffing issues post covid and it still seems to be a bit of an issue but I don't think I've ever had a rude server. I've had them forget some items or when we've been a large party it's taken a long time for the second batch of plates to come out vs the first, and sometimes flagging someone down for refills can be frustrating. The food is typical diner food, my favorite is their bigger better breakfast, no one does pancakes like Norms! So although I wish they had more staff, it's still a good choice if you just want breakfast in the middle of the day served by genuinely nice staff. One thing I forgot to mention, I love that you hardly ever have to wait for a check, so once you have your food, and you're done eating you usually can make a quick exit to pay. read more

Typical busy Sunday morning rush.. Got seated pretty fast and got lucky with a corner booth l. Ordered tbone steak and eggs. Food came out in under 15 min .. Shout out to our Server Melissa and the cooking staff for getting food out super fast.. Melissa was awesome and greeted us in a timely manner as well. I love how Norms stays open 24 hours a day and if your feeling hungry at anytime of the day, you are able to get some pretty good diner food. Overall I have been to this Whittier location many times when I was living in La Mirada. Be it that friends are visiting my area and we are grabbing dinner, late night snack or maybe an early morning breakfast. Either way I know they will be open and I can get good food. There are plenty of specials that are on the menu and also on your table to look at. I like the menu the most because of the photos and also the price. It is reasonably priced for many people to be able to afford. I usually get some type of beef! I love steak and overall this place does it pretty good. I also love their baked potatoes which I get the fully loaded one that comes with tomatoes, bacon, cheese and green onions. When I'm back in USA I usually have to eat Norms at least a few times because it's overall consistent with the flavor and taste. I hope these places never go away, service is always friendly and you can customize your order the way you like it! So never be afraid to ask, the servers will help you out! read more

My sister and I are Caucasian we went in for lunch, got seated and was ignored for 30 min. No one came over to give us Utensils, water or take our order. While waiting we saw 2 family's come in get seated and ordered and received food. We finally got up and as we were walking out I spoke to the manager who was there voiced my opinion and they acted like nothing was wrong. My last words was " I'll never step foot in a place like this again " and I will let everyone else know how bad this place is. Beware if you want good service, I wouldn't recommend this place. We waited for more then 20 minutes and the two girls at the front who were working the host didn't call our name, but that wasn't the worst part we noticed on the side where we were waiting that there was food still left over from the other costumer who had previously ate the seating both by the bathrooms, but no one came to clean it up had been their since me, my mom and grandma arrived so we decided to leave as we felt uncomfortable to even be there. First time visiting on Saturday morning in February. Sat us across from the waitress station. The busboy kept crashing dirty dishes into the bins like he was punishing them. Horrible noise. Why did the staff allow this? They were standing right there. Waitress was great. Diner coffee was classic and cup was always full. We felt bad for her. Ordered an Arnold Palmer and it was sour and tasted old. Waited a long time for the food. I ordered eggs over medium and I got eggs runny and cold. The hash browns were raw inside and dry. The bacon had a funky taste. Hotcakes tasted like the burnt grill. In fact everything that came off the grill had a burnt taste. Clean the grill once in a while! Gross. Didn't bother sending anything back because it would have still tasted like the dirty grill. When I was paying the hostess asked me how everything was. My answer - not good. Never coming back.
