Stopped by for dinner, ended up getting breakfast. Overall a good experience, went in around 630pm and it wasn't terribly busy like it always is. Host and server were very nice and helpful. The had set coloring maps for the kids. The food was on point. What more could we ask for. A good experience was had, and I liked the fun and relaxed atmosphere.

I have not been to Norms in like 10 years and I was pleasantly surprised. The buffalo chicken skillet was delicious. A very generous portion and a lot of flavor. The pancakes on the side were insanely good. Their pancakes have the perfect amount crispy on the outside to soft on the inside. You don't even need syrup, just the pancake with the butter alone is life altering. They have a bunch of fun stuff on the menu especially for their seasonal stuff. I'm very impressed. I think they're way ahead of Dennys and changed my perception of Norms from 10 years ago. I will say my friend got a meal with burnt ends, ribs, and wings and he did not like it at all and said the meats all tasted cheap. But hey im grading this as a breakfast place cause who orders that at Norms. Come here for the hashbrowns, eggs and pancakes. I have been back once and I'll be back again.

Friday night at Norms and it was a win. Waited about 10 minutes, got seated, and the hostess and server welcomed us with big smiles. Service was quick, the breakfast sandwich was loaded with meat on a soft bun, the tots were crispy, and the pancakes were fluffy and huge. The coffee came out piping hot too. My only gripe is charging $2 extra for veggies on the sandwich--that should've been included. Other than that, I'd definitely be back!

Norms is a late night diner staple. Open 24/7, it's always busy but they always have room for everyone who walks through their doors. Mornings and holidays are when it's most packed. The employees hustle and bustle to get the food out in a timely manner. You never have to worry about waiting for the check as it's always dropped off at your table for you to pay at the front counter whenever you're ready. The menu is your standard diner fare, with breakfast being the most filling. They have lots of booths and tables for every configuration if you're coming with a group. The interior is as clean as could be, and the restrooms require codes to access. Overall Norms is pretty aces when it comes to diners. It's a good place to unwind and catch up, have a family meal, grab a quick bite with friends, share a milkshake with your sweetie, or have a nice cup of Joe (their Colombian coffee is strong!). Norms is not high class, but it's dependably decent any day and any time.

There was some kind of bug like a flea in our coffee. The waitress was unpleasant and unprofessional. Doors and tables had so much grease. Did not order anything else. Walked out after informing the manager.

2026/02/07 update: Today was a good day to come here for lunch, I was expecting the wait to be long but when I walked in, I was pleasantly surprised to see no wait, I got seated immediately. My friend treated me to lunch here for my birthday. Their menu changed from 2 months ago. I was kinda looking forward to a T-bone steak trio but they changed it to a NY Steak Trio. It was good and filling, but I still prefer the T-bone steak trio. The service was friendly and professional and attentive. They checked in with us a couple of times to see if we need anything.

Can't say enough good things about this place. The food is always delicious. Portions are huge. I can come here anytime and enjoy trying out all their delicious foods. Service was great. We love it. It was so fast so very ideal if you were hungry. Lastly I noticed the updated retro decor of the entire interior space of the restaurant. I love the feeling and nostalgia it is trying to impart to its customers. We will definitely come here more often.

Norms will forever feel like home to me. I've been coming to this location for as long as I can remember. I especially love the feel & look inside during the holiday season. It could get busy during lunch or dinner hours but usually won't wait over 30 minutes. My parents eat there weekly. Recently I joined them on one of their lunch dates. Got a big & delicious breakfast. Food was good, service was good. Food came out pretty quick also.

4.5 Stars It was our first time at this location! I've been to the one in West Hollywood a couple of times, and while that one has a roomier entrance and easier parking layout, this spot still had plenty of charm. The parking area here felt a bit more congested, especially getting in, but once inside the experience made up for it. We went on a Friday night, so there was a bit of a wait. I was told 15-20 minutes but was pleasantly surprised--it ended up being only about 8 minutes. The host was friendly and welcoming. Our family of three was seated in a cozy booth, and I really liked how the layout creates smaller, more intimate sections--it gives it that classic, old-school diner feel. Our server, Ms Kristina was amazing (just like so many other reviews have said). She was warm, engaging, and attentive without being overbearing. Great customer service--she checked in on us several times throughout the meal. The food came out hot and fresh. The onion rings were a bit crispier than I prefer, but everything else was on point. The fried fish was basic but perfectly cooked--light, golden, and crispy. I added some freshly chopped onions and pickles to give it a little extra flavor, and it was perfect. It's definitely a nostalgic, old-school spot with a relaxed, friendly vibe. The floors had a few crumbs when we first walked in, but I noticed a staff member sweeping not long after we were seated, which was appreciated. Overall, great food, great service, and that classic diner comfort I love. We'll definitely be back!

As always, the Van Nuys Norms is just great. The food is definitely the better of other norms, and my steak was perfectly cooked, and the eggs always fluffy, (great coffee too). Kristina (with a K) is so amicable and makes just coming here even for a single cup of coffee worth it. Shes always so attentive and makes you feel at home, always checking in frequently and with a smile. The ambience is classic American diner, and the sound of plates and people chatting always makes it feel at home, making sure I'll always be a loyal customer.

Norms is great, and the service is greater! Our waiter Pedro was on point. Diner was COMPLETELY full with a wait too and he came to check on us, refill coffee/water, and even after the check he kept the service up!! GO PEDRO!!! It's what you can expect from a diner breakfast, but the Buffalo chicken skillet was surprisingly good!! There was crispy chicken as promised and it was very flavorful. French toast was honestly a little disappointing, but the pancakes were great :)

I love this place. It's worth a trip from Santa Clarita to Vannuys just for the fine friendly service of Waitress Kristina and the excellent steak dinners for a reasonable price. My family and I enjoy dining at Norms Sunday afternoons, we are just leaving right now and our service was bad. The food arrived 1-2 plates at a time, and my dad never received his burger. He purposefully ordered a burger and pancakes together at once because a previous time he never received his pancakes (with the same server!!!). This time, his burger took a really long time while we all finished our meal he still hadn't gotten it. The restaurant wasn't even that busy for the food to have taken that long, if it was busy I would understand of course, but that wasn't the case here. I asked the server to simply cancel his order because my dad was already EXTREMELY upset because this was the second time this happened and with the same server, Tom. Next time we dine in we'll be asking for Kristina, she's given us EXCELLENT service! read more

The food is always delicious, I got the open face turkey, it was perfect. Their menu is very large so there is always something for everyone. Even when they are slammed with two hour waits and the servers are running around at full steam, they are still so friendly and polite and fun. My best friend and I visited Norms on Sherman Way , Van Nuys. Kristina waited on us. She was fantastic, let us look at the menu at our own pace. Gave us plenty of time and took our order with care. She came by and told us they where running a little behind in the kitchen. While waiting she brought us complementary bowls of soup. Yet the order came quickly. Kristina was a pleasure to talk to. This location is packed with great service and really good food. Our server was Sirinart and she was outstanding! Extremely polite, professional, and prompt. Today I tried the Gobble Gobble with pancakes. The food was fresh and cooked to perfection. This is a very popular location so you might have a small waiting period to get a table but the food and service are worth the wait. Keep up the incredible job serving the community. The worst food I have had period! Norms is a 24 hour restaurant that has a nostalgic diner feel to it. I have dined here since I was a child. The quality is below descent currently. None of the food had flavor at all. I had to season it myself. The decor, cups, and silverware very old, worn out, and outdated. I had the Trio steak, chicken strips, and fried shrimp. It came with a salad and clam chowder. My clam chowder was sour. My rice pilaf was clumped together. I gave it one star because the prices were great for large portions of food. The juice and beverages were good. The waiter was as wonderful and provided great customer service. Perhaps the breakfast options may be better. I don't recommend visiting here at all unless it is the absolute last option! read more

Norms never disappoints. The food is always great. We had the porterhouse and it was super delicious and cooked exactly the way we wanted it. I've gone to a couple of these before and it was awesome. This location was crazy busy. With that being said it was bad service. They took forever in our food and people that were coming after us were getting their food before we were. On top of that hash browns were not done at all but we still got the m on our plate. When we ask to for them to cook them more they shared them. Not pleasant at all. We ring go back to this location again. We like Norms so that's so sad. read more

Celebrated my Grandmas 80th bday today at her favorite restaurant. My family has been coming to Norms since the 80's of what I can remember, but I'm sure longer than that. We Had amazing service from the manager and from Kristina our waitress, who dealt with 16 of us. Food was great and my Grandma Loved it. All she wanted for her bday was a T- bone steak from Norms, Lol! and her steak did not disappoint. Thank you for making her bday dinner special. The decor is exactly what you'd expect (and exactly what you want) from a neighborhood coffee shop: formica tables, padded chairs and booths, aging photos on the walls, and lively music playing on the radio. It was bustling at lunchtime on a Thursday, but not crazy busy (as on many weekend mornings), so I was seated immediately. The menu boasts a fairly large selection of options, from the usual breakfast items to sandwiches and burgers, daily specials, and those aforementioned muffins (which you can get instead of toast with your breakfast if you like). Today, I opted for their Spicy Louisiana Hot Link with eggs, grits and toast. It was a very generous portion of food for $16.95, and I appreciate how they've manage to keep their prices reasonable. The eggs were a proper over-medium, and the grits were both hot and creamy. The side of butter melted easily into the porridge, which, when salted and peppered, made for a satisfying and savory bite. The sausage was split and grilled, showing off a nice char; they were spicy, as advertised, but not overly powerful, and they paired very well with the warm, creamy egg yolk. Rye toast was full of caraway flavor, and really shone when topped with butter and a generous slather of Nat's house-made Apricot Jam (packed with fruit flavor without being too sweet). Yes, Nat's remains a solid, satisfying spot for breakfast and lunch. And though parking can sometimes be a challenge, I find the food is well worth the effort.

We also got this drink called Powerful from their smoothies section of the menu. It was called Green Smoothie. Ingredients were the following: blueberries, honey, Greek Vanilla yogurt, avocado and Almond milk. It was simply very refreshing and delicious. My friend wanted some sort of Latte, Espresso, Americano, etc..but they didn't have any of those drinks. All they had was regular & decaf coffee. At first, I asked for Cranberry juice, and Jose, said they only had Apple and Orange juice. We found it a bit odd not to have any of those drinks. Going back to our server Elsa, she was a bit aloof and forgetful. I asked for a bowl of fruit, and it never made it to our table. After we were done eating, I asked for two to-go boxes and a bag, she forgot that too. We had to ask the other employees to get them for us. The same with to-go containers for our sauces. She forgot to bring napkins too. Jose, (our busboy), needs a raise and promotion! This young man read all the ingredients on the Taco menu which came with: bacon & egg, chorizo with potato & eggs, machaka/eggs, & nopaitos/eggs. The writing in their menu was very small. Another server by the name of Angel, truly was an angel. Checked on us while Elsa was taking orders over the phone. They have another location in Monrovia, a gender neutral restroom, place was very clean. Inside was small. It had 10 tables and nice couches with cozy, inspirational decor and pillows. A side of salsa accompanied the tostada. The salad was fresh and good, but the shell was a bit too greasy. I still ate the whole thing, so it definitely wasn't bad. Hubs went with bacon and eggs over easy with french fries as his "potato", buttered toast and coffee. He thought everything was delicious. Inside looks like the coffee house of the 70s/80s. Comfortable and familiar. Indeed, many people dining seemed to be regulars, sharing stories and family health updates . The staff never hurried anyone along and all in all it was a relaxing lunch. For some reason, anytime I walk into a diner, they always come ready with an understaffed excuse. "Our head cook is not here" or "3 waiters didn't show up". It's getting old guys. Originally we came here for coffee, and some deserts. We walk in, not that many people. Half the place is closed off. Whatever, we wait to be seated. Can't say we waited LONG, but still longer than we should have. We got seated at a table that wasn't even clean yet. We got the "not enough waiters excuse" whatever, we were ok with it. The lady seemed nice, which is probably why they got 3 stars and not 2. So we order the food, some club sandwich and French toast, coffee for my buddy and hot chocolate for me. The hot chocolate and club sandwich where pretty good. The fries where soggy (to a point where I just ate one and then spit it into my napkin) and the French toast was stale... The food took a long time to come, by long I mean I saw it on the counter sitting for 3 minutes before it was brought over. Which probably explains the stale fries. Over all, gave them 3 stars, looks like norms is in the neighborhood and it's open late, so it'll stay at 3 stars until we visit again, and we will visit again. hopefully then they won't be "understaffed" read more

I want to say that my experience at the restaurant was truly spectacular. My family and I are from San Francisco, and I can't believe how welcoming and helpful the staff can be toward guests. Everyone is very helpful and shows us how well they work together--for example, as soon as you finish your soup and salad, someone clears the plates to bring out the main courses, keeping everything clean and organized. It's amazing how efficient they are. As for the food, I can't say enough--everything was absolutely amazing. I couldn't resist the desserts, and I have to say my favorite is the strawberry cheesecake. I also want to thank my server, Danitza, who was always very kind and attentive to our table. I understand that they have a lot of tables to manage, so I'd like to ask everyone to be patient with the staff as well. Well let me start of by saying that i have been to this place more than a few times and the only thing i love about this place is their Gumbo soup and the fact that they have Pepsi. The cooks can never get anything right, no matter what i order, if i order an omelet or of i order a steak, and you think it's not that hard right. All the servers with the exception of two Nancy and Teresa are horrible if those two girls are not there i would rather not eat there. My first complaint is that when i order FRESH pancakes, they always pop them in the microwave... why? stop it... if i wanted microwaved pancakes i would go to Albertsons buy me a pack of frozen pancakes and just eat at home. This place is great at all times of the day, but I'm especially a fan of the fact that it is open 24 hours a day. I used to go there all the time when I was in college and have a great dinner at 3am after studying for so many hours. It's a classic diner that kind of reminds you of Dennys, except that the food is better than mediocre and really tasty. They have so many different types of food selections so you can never say they don't have something you would like to eat. The ambiance is casual and very family friendly. On the weekends they are always busy and you may have to wait a bit for a table but once you get seated, it's a very comfortable place to eat and relax. Although I'm not in college anymore I still come here to enjoy the food with my family and daughter and probably always will. I just want to start of by saying that I have been coming to this restaurant for a couple of years now and for the first time ever there was a server who got my order right. Her name was Natalie. My mother is disabled and usually people ignore her there but Natalie made sure everything was right and that we were comfortable. My steak was really dry but she had it remade and made sure she smiled the whole time. I did have a complain about how many people were actually working and doing stuff. Most of them seemed to be lallygagging and just talking. Natalie and a couple of other serves were busy and moving but still. I also noticed that some of the waiters were shouting very loud. Overall I'm giving it a five star just because of Natalie. Hire more people like her and maybe this dump of a place will be better. Came here one night and it was packed but we were really hungry and IHOP was closed and Denny's just never does it for me. I was at a friend's house in NoHo when she suggested we should go out to eat. We drove around and she spotted Norm's. I had never been here but I was excited to try it out because I always love new finds. We walk in and there was a huge line but my friend insisted that we stay because their food is good. After waiting half an hour we got seated. Our waitress was Cherry- she was a cute woman who was very friendly that's why I'm giving them the extra star :) The food was good I can't remember what I ordered but their dessert was incredible. Kristina is amazing! She's super friendly, full of "karisma", and always brings such a great attitude. Norms is a fantastic place to go enjoy a meal and family time. My daughter goes there several times a month and brings us back food. I have been there several times and enjoy their hospitality, good food and prices. If I was to give the owner suggestions on how to please their customers more, I would ask the owner to consider expanding the inside, so that we can sit more comfortably. There's a bid parking lot of wasted space, while we sit uncomfortably inside. I am handicap and always go there with a big crowd. There are only two places the can put my wheel chair. Yes... Yes... It was extremely noisy and difficult to have a conversation. The caesar salad was chopped lettuce with a large glop of dressing piled on top. Ugh. usually this place is great. tonight I show up with two buddies and I spot the best waitress of all time. well she was on a bad one. looked like she had been up for days doing dope. the attitude she was putting out was effecting everyone around her. she took our order about 40 mins after we sat down. when we eventually got.our food it was cold.. I sent.mine back abd my two friends ate but complained the whole time about our waitress. she needs to sleep and get off the dope. if I never have to deal with her it will be ok with me. the experience was horrible and if it wasn't.for.going there for.decades I'd. be boycotting norms. We had a wonderful dining experience, and a big part of that was thanks to our amazing waitress, Kristina. From the moment we sat down, she was incredibly kind, warm, and genuinely attentive. She made sure we were comfortable, checked in at all the right times without being intrusive, and made great recommendations with a smile. The food was also delicious -- everything came out fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. But it was Kristina's exceptional service that truly made our evening special. A friend of mine took me here to norms a few months ago. I had not been here since I was a kid. When he suggested norms thought to myself, really? Norms. Thinking like most that had not eaten there, that there food is just very low quality. Well I was very surprised as you would be that the food was. Sooooo good for a family diner and the prices were extremely responsible. I used to go to corkys on van nuys blvd for years but stopped going because of all the turn over in staff and very low quality of their food like canned hash and frozen vegetables.. Giving 5 stars on the sole service. It's Norms, you're not getting gourmet food, but the service in this location is amazing. We went in to celebrate my son's culmination, and Kristina (our server) made our visit extremely pleasant. Her amazing attention to her customers and her exemplary attitude makes this location stand out; not to mention her amazing style. She makes her own jewelry made out of the Norms cups. We were blown away by her creativity. At the end of our dinner, Kristina handed our grad a nice little graduation gift. Go in for yourself and ask Kristina! You won't regret it. read more

The good news? It's steps away from my house. The bad news? It's steps away from my house. The food is what I imagine food is like in the penitentiary or jail. I've gotten various items at different times of day. It's just always either bad or barely tolerable. Speaking of crime, this is what you can expect to deal with in the parking lot as you go to and from your car; prostitutes servicing truckers/patrons, underage partiers drinking and smoking pot then throwing their empties over the fence into neighbors yards, drug dealing, homeless people. Been going to Norms for many years. But today I would like to write a review. Norms has always been my to go place. The staff is very friendly and looks like they enjoy what they do. We sat with Maria at the counter on Sunday. She was extremely busy but she was able to get our order fast and correct. Maria seems to enjoy her job because she always has a smile and goes out of her way to make us feel welcomed. The food is always fresh and the price is reasonable. I was pleasantly surprised of how good it was. Basically it's a smaller version of Soup Plantation but I think much better than Red Lobster and other chains. The shrimp at Sizzled is actually better than Red Lobster, they just have the cheddar biscuits. This location works by you place your order at the counter and then opt to add salad bar or not. The salad bar is only $12 so it's a really fair deal and it comes with all sorts of options as well as tacos and a dessert station. For my meal I ordered the New York steak and thought it was pretty good. It's not like a premium steakhouse, but it does taste like a really decent steak that you would purchase at the grocery store and cook yourself. It was not too fatty and I really enjoyed it. It is a bit expensive compared to the average lunch and is a lot of food so I would not suggest it for an everyday meal, but I definitely will give Sizzler another chance again in the future and would suggest to others looking for a good mini buffet option. The service was also very polite and they were very attentive with a drink refills. This location is quite large and has many different sized tables so it can host many different sized groups. There is also a large free parking lot attached so finding a parking space is very easy.

It looks exactly how I remembered it looked 30 years ago in a different state. They are all comfortably the same. Crispy on the outside, flavorful throughout, and not greasy in the slightest. I'd happily order it again. The pancakes were... pancakes. They fulfilled their contractual obligation to be pancakes and nothing more. They simply had no aspirations beyond that. The Fisherman's Platter was another pleasant surprise. The fish was crispy without being greasy, the shrimp were cooked well, and everything arrived hot.
