I have passed this diner so many times in the past and never had the chance to try their food. I guess there is a first time for everything. Walked in today around 1pm and was greeted by my server Vilma. She was very sweet, pleasant, kind & helpful. She told me to grab a seat anywhere that I would like and I did. When I first walked in, nobody was there except one person. The ambiance was cool, chill, old school (which I loved) with nice decor everywhere. Very welcoming. They had upbeat music playing from the 80's. My era which was very enjoyable to dine and listen to at the same time. I got their Grilled Chicken Sandwich add Swiss cheese for a $1.00 extra. It had lettuce, tomato and asked mayo to be on the side. It came with different choices of side orders. I opted for coleslaw. The food came out pretty quickly and was fresh, hot and very tasty. I also substituted the regular bun for sourdough bread. Place was very clean, has a huge parking lot shared with a paint shop. 2 gender neutral restrooms and both were clean. Thank you Vilma for taking care of me and all the other customers that walked in after me. She did all that by herself. This Diner should NOT get anything less than 4 or 5 stars. Stopped in for the first time in a while, and happy to discover it's the same old, good and reliable diner it's always been. Clearly built in the hey day of diner and coffee shop ubiquity, it's the type of place that's sadly become hard to find nowadays. Brick walls, comfy booths, tables, a counter with swiveling stools, chrome fixtures behind the counter -- all from a time long past but very clean and well-maintained. You feel comfortable and no one rushes you. Through the years I've eaten all kinds of food here, from breakfast staples to burgers and sandwiches. It's always been good, the portions generous, the prices fair. Today I ordered a breakfast sandwich with home fries; a simple order you can get almost anywhere, but they did it better than almost anywhere. The grill was being helmed this morning by Gregory, who's young but seems to have a knack for making this food work. Bacon was cooked well, but not overdone, so you could actually taste it; cheese was melty and gooey, which is really appreciated because so many places either leave it cold or melt it into non-existence. But the egg was the real star: cooked to an absolutely perfect medium well, the yolk was warm and liquid inside without being a runny mess. This allows the egg flavor to really be present without the need for a shower after. Really a great breakfast sandwich. It may sound like I'm making a mountain out of a sandwich molehill, but I think it's worth giving props to people for making the best expression of a simple dish that almost everyone else tosses off without a care. So big props to Gregory. That said, the home fries could have used a little more seasoning (nobody's perfect, and that's okay). Other dishes being served around me all looked equally good, from pancakes and egg salad sandwiches to the usual cadre of breakfast egg combos. You should stop in and enjoy. read more

Not the same as it used to be. The staff albeit friendly was not knowledgeable at all. This place seems to be left to its own devices nowadays. My husband and I made the mistake of ordering pie for dessert. Two separate slices and they were both truly disgusting - tasted like some kind of whipped chemicals. Not anything that should ever go in food. Like a toxic laboratory failure. No joke. We'd eaten there several times and the food was mediocre but not bad. But then we tried the pies and they were so gross that we now question all of the other food. NEVER going back. We loved the classic mid-century vibe but I guess it's true when they say one bad apple can ruin the whole barrel. Steer clear. It's a classic diner with familiar interior layout. The place was empty on a Sunday night. Our server was very sweet, but her kindness could not compensate for the food, which was insipid. We tried the pancakes (not fully cooked in the center), chicken fried steak, club sandwich, and the banana pie (with grey, slimy bananas in it). Have they closed? I've left 3 stars; while pretty good, their hours are erratic. Now, the diner is dark during their 'open' hours, and their phone number seems to be disconnected ('no longer in service'). It's sad, because I know there were a lot of regulars. Their food was reasonably good, 'okay' pricing, but their staff was friendly. I hope this closure is temporary, but it's not looking good. read more

A traditional and great throwback 50s style diner in North Hollywood. It is 24 hours and they serve breakfast through dinner so they really have a ton of great options on the menu. Our server Lola was absolutely great and very attentive. She was funny, polite, and did a great job. The issue we had for our brunch today was it took 35 minutes for our two entrées to arrive after ordering, which is slow for a diner. However the service speed and just comparing it flavor wise to other diners makes me hold back one star. I do love how there is a large free parking lot attached so parking is really easy and plentiful. There were a lot of items that I wanted to order on the menu, but today I chose to try their Chicken Fried Steak. I also ordered a side biscuit. The biscuit was not my favorite, it was pretty small next to others I have had recently. The chicken fried steak was very good, but I have had better versions at some other local diners. The gravy was a bit watery and the other dish we ordered came with bacon, which was very undercooked but aside from that everything else really hit the spot. Wish they did hashbrowns instead of country potatoes though. Their coffee is also really good and was surprisingly strong. Overall a solid diner option in North Hollywood. I'm holding back a star because of the service speed and just comparing it to other diners in LA, but still would recommend it to anyone. read more

The ambiance is a 10/10. Very cute inside with lots of photos on the wall and a classic diner feel. It felt very neighborhood-y and people seemed to know each other. I got a chili cheese omelette to try something new. It honestly wasn't the best thing ever. The chili was more like sauce without a lot of chunks in it, but it was still decent! It seemed like there was only one woman working and she was very busy. We ran out of water early on in our meal and no one came by to check on us or refill after we got our food. My boyfriend and I went on a Sunday mid-morning and were seated right away. Lori, our server, was friendly and funny. I ordered the strawberry waffle and orange juice. I thought the waffle would have strawberries in it, but it came with a little condiment container of strawberry syrup (the kind you can make with frozen strawberries and sugar). But the syrup tasted old - I only realized after I poured it all over my waffle. The waffle itself was thin and had a nice crunch to it, but nothing special. The orange juice was so tart and almost bitter. Maybe it's not orange season, but whenever I see fresh squeezed orange juice on a menu, I always order it, no matter the season. I've never had orange juice this bitter. My boyfriend ordered an omelette which he said was decent. I think the pancakes were nice and fluffy. So I go to north Hollywood diner today and get beautiful diner ambiance with a lot of personality But the service needed work Long story short, the food was ok I got a Huevos Rancheros and mom got a sliders plate with onion rings But they were understaffed on a Tuesday Which meant a frustrated and very vocal waitress who let everybody know how frustrated she was Simple stalling methods and staggered orders could have solved her issues but she took everyone's order at the same time which meant a single cook trying to pump out orders all at the same time Not to mention our order came out wrong But being as it was busy, we understood Again, I've worked in the service industry for 10 years so I know all of the issues could have been avoided by simple techniques Either way the ambiance and diner vibe in this place was beautiful They have a bar and all these classic pictures against a brick wall It's very vibey A little music with a more composed and energy and this spot could definitely be a vibe in my opinion I wander if they have any events or peak the interests of any locals I think it's in a great location with solid parking I love the old closed down look from the outside but a hidden gem look on the inside If the service and energy can match that unique classic flavor of the restaurant, then I think this place could do some real damage. Maybe 2-3 signature dishes or specials that are really done well would be good. My plate was average Moms plate was average too The onion rings were perfect tho! Came here in the late 1990's and the menu was plentiful and affordable. This week I stopped in randomly for lunch and food prices have skyrocketed (which is normal) yet the food quality has drastically declined. Ordered a meatball sandwich (with cheese) for $16. 40minutes later my sandwich came with no cheese, cold tomato sauce on the side, and soggy cold french fries. THE classic diner in NoHo. I wish they told us more about the history of the Diner, all i know is it goes back to 1959 in the same location. The counter space is huge, so is the place in general. Interesting photos all over of movie people and assorted other personalities. Thats a cool diversion. Menu is typical diner and they deliver. Very good customer service on our day. read more

She got another customers order wrong and then she took forever to get her order. she was too busy talking to a coworker instead of doing her job. My friends took me here last weekend. It's one of those "hasn't been much updated in recent years and thank goodness!" places you're lucky to find. I ordered grilled cheese. I feel like my bread was sourdough and my cheese was cheddar, but I don't remember anymore, so don't quote me on that. I had asked for cheese on my fries (because a grilled cheese sandwich isn't enough cheese for me), but the server forgot but promptly took care of that issue. Prices are reasonable. It's a shame how things are today. My then-boyfriend (now husband) in 2005 would take me here and say this was where his parents would frequent when he was a child. It was nice that we created our own memories and also took our children. We became friends with the then-waitress and soon-after manager named Patty. We noticed some changes after she left, so we stopped going. We moved far away and recently returned to the area. We figured we'd go out for breakfast. Sad to say, the quality of food has not improved. Somehow, there were coffee grounds in my husband's and children's lemonade. They tried cleaning that up, but with refills, we got more coffee grounds. I don't know how, but overall the quality of the food was not great. We're not the type to complain, so we just ate, paid, and yes, we tipped because service was still provided. However, sadly, we will never be returning.
