Fungi Pizza was flat and tasted fire roasted. Gem salad was really fresh and the cheese on every dish was so tasty! Got the tomato bursts and they made a special veggie pasta. If you are wondering about zucchini noodle, don't hesitate to use this kind. diver scallops $25 mmm, had a bite of this as well. Big juicy, succulent and cooked to the right amount that the scallops melts in your mouth. Do recommend. Roasted salmon $23 had a bite of this as well. again. Spot on with the cooking. Whoa! This place is amazing! Really have been looking for a good Italian place that is all about making their food by scratch and I've found it! Very cool modern environment that's not your traditional Italian restaurant that's more styled like a barn with nice wide open doors to bring in a good air flow on those nice nights. They also have valet parking that's complementary Now the food is about as good as it can get. My wife got the fungi pizza which had that perfect crispy crunch when you bite into a fresh dough pizza with a nice amount of mushrooms throughout. Very good pizza and can easily be shared. I got the mushroom tortellini. Now that was what I've been looking for! The creme sauce is to die for. I could easily just have that sauce and dip bread into it. So good! The tortellini was filled with a nice blend of cheese and mushrooms and they added brussel sprouts, pine nuts and sweet potato. Perfect dish! I want to start by saying that Frank at the bar literally saved our entire experience today. Frank, please know that you were the BEST part of our dinner and the only reason we would return to North. Thank you for being so kind, attentive, welcoming, and gracious. When our other reservation didn't work out, my family and I quickly pivoted to choose North given its location and the mere fact that we always have wonderful experiences at Fox Restaurants. Upon arrival, I grabbed a seat at the bar while I waited for my mom, dad, and brother to arrive for Mother's Day dinner. Two female bartenders were manning the bar, and almost 10 minutes went by before either acknowledged my existence. Allow me to share that I worked in the service industry (in restaurants specifically) for almost 10 years and have a ton of empathy and grace for anyone in the industry, but neither of them even looked my way. For the first few minutes, I thought nothing of it as the restaurant was clearly at the top of their dinner rush, but after about 10 minutes, I tried to gently get one of their attention, and the one in the floral top gave me a dirty look when I asked if I could order a drink and if it was possible to pull down the shade so the sun wasn't blasting me and the lady that was dining next to me. In my experience, you usually get phenomenal service when you dine at the bar itself, and since there just happened to be 4 seats together, I texted my family to meet me at the bar. Again, I took that first encounter as an anomaly and just chalked it up to the bartender being slammed and maybe a bit stressed. Enter Frank - within moments of Frank coming back into the bar, I ordered a drink and it was delivered to me. By this point, my family had arrived, and Frank got them served as well. Meanwhile the female bartenders never looked our way, made eye contact, or asked if they could get them anything. After a few minutes, my mom leaned over and asked me if something had happened before they arrived since the female bartenders seemed to be deliberately ignoring us. I told her I had had a similar 'vibe' and wasn't sure but that they seemed to be annoyed by our presence. Things continued this way for the rest of our night. While Frank was busting his butt ensuring all of us (and the other diners) were taken care of, the two female bartenders never checked on us, made eye contact, or even asked how anything was going. Our glasses sat empty until Frank filled them. One of the female bartenders even cleared my glass, avoided eye contact, and never asked if I wanted another cocktail (which I did). My dad, who is pretty much the easiest going guy you'll ever meet, even commented on how rude and passive aggressive the two female bartenders were being. I honestly don't know if me asking for that initial drink and for the shade to be pulled down was just bad timing, but I definitely felt unwelcome after that, and so did my family for the duration of the meal. Again, and I cannot state this enough - with the exception of Frank. He was awesome, made sure we had everything we needed, and even seemed to be compensating for the complete lack of customer service (and people skills) of his colleagues. Frank, thank you! Because of you, we'll be back to give North another try. To the two female bartenders, there's just about nothing worse as a customer than feeling like you're inconveniencing your server/bartender with your presence. Last night's dinner couldn't have been better. As great as the food was, it was the top-notch service we received that earn North Italia in Gilbert these 5 stars! Even at after 8PM on a Tuesday, the place was packed, with a 25-minute wait for a 2 top. The hostess confirmed 2 seats at the end of the bar were available, so we grabbed them. Katie, the bartender, quickly arrived with waters and menus so we could choose drinks. I went with a glass of their Montepulciano d'Abruzzo, and it was one of the nicest reds I've enjoyed in a while. My mom and I decided to share the Italian meatballs and the prosciutto pizza. The meatballs arrived quickly, served in a cute little All-Clad skillet. Three huge meatballs sat atop a bed of creamy polenta and were covered in an avalanche of Grana Padano shavings. They were perfect, very tasty and definitely would have met with my Italian father's approval. It came as a total surprise when Austin, the manager showed up to deliver what he thought we might view as bad news. Apparently there was a problem with the pizza dough not being quite the right texture, so the kitchen was making a fresh batch of dough. Austin explained there would be a little bit longer wait for the pizza. He graciously said dessert was on him because of this little glitch. We didn't think anything of the delay, as we were still enjoying our meatballs. I've rarely seen a restaurant manager take such a proactive approach to delivering "bad" news to a guest. Austin stayed and chatted with us for a few minutes, He was so friendly, warm and professional. It was a bit of a wait for the pizza, but well worth it when it arrived - one of my favorite pizza combos, the salty of the prosciutto matched with the sweetness of the figs - YUM! We also enjoyed talking travel with the bartender Katie, sharing some fun memories of past vacations. We have lots of choices for our restaurant dollars, but you can be assured, with this kind of service, we look to return soon. My only negative observation would be that the servers don't seem to have very much communication or interaction with the customers like we're used to at other restaurants which makes it a little bit impersonal. read more

This is a very nice spot for lunch/dinner. You can miss it easily on the way in as the driveway is sortof hidden by the bushes. They have complimentary valet parking. Enough space to sit at the bar, indoors or outdoors and kids friendly too. We got a fee items for appetizers: the burrata was the best item I had that night. Everything was seasoned well and I would eat this everyday no problem. We also got the zucca chips that were nice and crispy (but a bit oily) and the prosciutto bruschetta (was okay). I then had the arugula and avocado salad with chicken. That was a light and refreshing salad I liked it a lot! We shared a pasta bolognese which I thought was ok. Pasta was good, meat sauce was just ok to me. For dessert we got the hazelnut torta. The gelato was really good and the cake was more crispy than soft but tasted good too. Ok I'll admit I've not been here in person and with covid my expectations are a bit lower, but decent food with hopefully some simple fixes to hit the extra star or two. Second order with similar results. Pasta was a little bland, no spice/herbs in this dish and the culprit is herbs and cheese a few key ingredients for Italian 101. Sauce was almost watery which a Korr pack with adding water has more flavor. Add some herbs and don't water what sauce you have to down to almost water. If you need to charge more do so and not risk your rep. Also who hasn't been to an Italian restaurant and asked for cheese on their pasta, offer it as a side if you can't add it to sauce. For drinks I had a ginger blossom margarita which fulfilled all my expectations and my friend had the Sicilian margarita which he enjoyed as well! I also tried two red wines and both were good I recommend going with the Massi. We started off with the garlic truffle bread then had the pig pizza and the bolognese. The bread and pizza were delicious but the bolognese tasted like Chef Boyardee ravioli which was a huge bummer. So far my only dislikes are the zucca chips and the bolognese definitely stay away from those two dishes but everything else is worth coming back to! read more

Came here for brunch on a Sunday. Got here shortly after opening at 10a. Didn't have a reservation but we're able to be seated immediately. The place was filling up pretty quickly by about 1030ish. Overall, food was good. Nothing spectacular but it was consistently good. Items we ordered included: the scramble, their omelet, tenderloin & eggs. All tasty and well presented with decent portions. Egg dishes came with grilled bread but no butter either on the bread or as an accompaniment (it's brunch...there's toasted bread...give me some butter). The service itself fell flat. Overall it was perfunctory but not great. We were approached by one server to ask about our drink order. He asked two out of the four of us and then left...it was super weird. Our main server was friendly and patient. He even admitted he hadn't worked a brunch shift in ages at North so wasn't too informed on the dishes. We were one of the first tables to place our orders but noticed it took quite a while to get our coffees out and even longer to get our food. After the server came to check on us one of us asked for hot sauce and they took another 15 minutes to get to us, albeit with apologies for the tardiness. Overall, food was good, service was ok-ish. I'll give it another go for brunch to see how it goes. Perhaps this was just an off day, or they were super busy with not enough staff - who knows. If you haven't been to this location, parking is pretty much mandatory. Don't worry it's complimentary, just be kind and leave the valet guys a couple bucks when you leave. Our server didn't tell us it was happy hour, it wasn't until we overheard him answer the couple next to us about the happy hour they were having. It was now 3 minutes after 6 and we asked him about getting a HH menu. He said he would still honor the prices but what he should have done was told us AND given us the HH menu the moment we sat down. Anyway, we got the zucca chips that was on the HH menu and we also go the mussels not on the HH menu and both were spectacular. For dinner, my husband and I ordered and shared a Cesar salad, awesome dressing and the croutons were to die for. For dinner, husband and I shared the Short Rib Radiatori. Came here this past Friday for a friend birthday. Overall had a good experience but a few reasons why I held back stars. 1. The parking is a mess. I hate places that have forced parking and even worst is when it's faster to walk to your car since you can see it from the entrance. I also get the idea of the service but optional valet is much better. I'll walk and park my own car - I don't personally like people driving my car. 2. The food is rather meh in my opinion and it's also not cheap. I feel like there are many places in the valley with better food for an elevated cost. It's just right up the middle for me. Not great and not horrible but the price I can't justify. Now on to the good things! We were a large group and the waiter took great care of us. We were also there for a long time and at no point did we feel rushed. He also took great care of the checks and kept all the couple paid up and kept the check straight. This by far is the best bolognese I've ever tasted! Like it's perfection. The noodles taste as if they're freshly made and the meat sauce is perfectly seasoned. Located in Arcadia off the southeast corner of Camelback and 40th Street just behind the U-Haul, North Italia has a cute, rustic-modern vibe that is perfect for a casual yet upscale dinner. There were a lot of couples and smaller parties, so this definitely seemed to be a great spot for a date. Being vegan and gluten free, there weren't a ton of options which was a bit disappointing. I opted for the seasonal vegetable salad (butternut squash, brussels sprout, cauliflower, kale, radicchio, pistachio, date, white balsamic vinaigrette) but the dressing unfortunately had honey and was therefore not vegan. I also opted to remove the farro (gluten) and pecorino cheese. The salad was good, but wasn't great...the kale was pretty bitter and the dates that would have added some much needed sweetness seemed to be almost non-existent. I'm not sure I would order it again. My fiancé had the pig pizza on gluten free crust and said it was pretty good, but there are better options for gluten free pizza (this crust was too thin and crispy). For $18.50, the price also was pretty steep. Because the farmhouse chic ambiance is quite charming we likely will be back, although we may opt for happy hour next time since the prices for that you get are pretty steep during dinner. At over $65 for a pizza, salad, and two glasses of wine, North Italia isn't a realistic option for everyday dining out. read more

Food itself was amazing... too bad our Valentine's Day dinner was completely ruined by our rude server, Michael. Context - I'm 38 weeks pregnant so I may have asked a few extra questions because as anyone who's been pregnant knows - it can be tough at the end. I asked him for virgin drink options and he suggested a few, when I asked what was in one of the drinks (because I didn't know what half of the ingredients were, or how it would be composed without the alcohol). This is a go to restaurant and staple for me whether it be brunch, lunch, dinner, or anything in between. This is one of my favorite Italian restaurant in Phoenix! I would highly recommend the chicken Parmesan and the Funghi pizza. The parking is valet and there's signs all over where you can't just park across the street. The environment is super casual, loud, and ton of activity. The food is always very good. Ambiance is great for a date night! We started off with the White Truffle Garlic Bread. I give it an 8/10. It had a good amount of cheese & I was a fan of the spread. My favorite pizza is the Cacio E Pepe. It's flavorful & creamy. The Caesar Salad was a pretty good portion which was nice! Also very tasty. For drinks I would recommend the Sicilian Margarita & the espresso martini. The Sicilian Margarita is not only easy on the eyes but easy on the tastebuds as well! You can really appreciate the flavor of the reposado without it kicking you in the face. As for the espresso martini, it was so flavorful. They do have an espresso machine in house which makes the drink taste fresh & perfect every time. Service here is okay. We've came in different days & times & any time we've been sat at a table the service is consistently subpar. The servers seem to be passive and not very attentive to younger guests. We sat at the bar once & was served by what seemed to be the bar manager. We didn't get to catch her name but she has been a friendly face every time we've visited.
