Family meal comes with one of these drinks

Hmm... I'm unable to add a tip from the app so leaving this neutral entry about a recent gem of an info I learned. This market has an excellent value $36.99 family meal. A time saving option for a family meal or if you're meal prepping for the week or want to freeze some for later. 2 lbs. Carnitas OR Birria OR 20 piece Chicken Drumsticks/Thighs 1 Large Frijoles/Beans 1 Large Arroz/Rice 1/2 lb. Salsa - your choice 1 Dozen Corn Tortillas

Was craving champurrado on the rainy morning. Service was nice. But you self serve your drink. They had atole de nuez, champurrado and arroz con leche. That's all I went for but also grabbed some pan Dulce. Very clean store. Their flower selection was very nice also. Very beautiful plants

I picked up a cake here for a coworker's birthday & it was delicious! They have a large variety of flavors to choose from. The employees were very kind & helpful. The bakery looked very clean & well maintained. Perfect for a last minute cake pickup!

What a cool place! We had such a blast here & ate so many goodies. It's an indoor market with Mexican grocery, Mexican eateries, bakeries, & the best churros!

The overall North Gate experience is amazing! Food, groceries, bakery and more. My one complaint is Tacos Los Güichos, the yelling for order pickups is absolutely obnoxious and annoying! It's loud enough in there that the added yelling in my opinion not necessary and takes away from the overall dinning experience!!

We go here on ocassion but today was quite terrifying. We were cooking the beef taco meat from the deli section and we found microplastics in the meat. It wasn't a small amount. It was in like 30% of the pieces and we only found out when we were cooking the meat.

My mood is: Happy Happy Happy when my favorite Bauducco Wafer is on sale this week at this friendly store.

Do the roscas have some filling inside and do I have to order one to have a fresh one ? Thank you

The Roscas are usually a hot item that sells out fast. I have never gotten one with filling inside but will recommend to talk to the bakery staff for some fresh ones at the time of ordering.

Are they open on Christmas Eve?

I wanted to know if they sell Hybiscus flowers to make into tea?

Yes you can but them in bulk and in small packets. Should be on the produce side towards the back wall.

Cactus, purslane, shishito peppers, fresh green garbanzo beans, and other uncommon produce were available. They surprisingly even have a caviar section in the refrigerated service counter next to the Mexican cheeses. My relatives also told me that Super King is owned by an Armenian family so that's why you can also find some middle eastern and central asian spices, sweets/snacks - like dubai chocolate, and teas among their items for sale. I really liked this grocery store, it was very clean, bright, well-organized, spacious, and had very reasonable prices. My favorite area was the bulk foods section, where you can scoop your own dried fruits, nuts, crackers, and other snacks. Simply bring your selections to the friendly staff member, who weighs and prices everything for you. Service is okay but will certainly come back to check out other snacks!

Seems to me, it is less crowded than other markets. (If I can avoid crowds, I will). It was Tet New Year season and I needed to get a few ingredients for some dishes I planned to cook. My first priority was the fresh oxtail in the meat department. I have gone to many markets for this cut and it seems this is the best place for a ~2 pound tray of mixed size tails. The fat is all trimmed off, as opposed to other markets that leave a fat layer behind that you are paying for. It also depends on if you prefer leaner tails. Next, the produce section. I picked up some cailan (Chinese broccoli). For the most part, the Asian veggies are pretty fresh - since there is a higher turnover rate of Asian veggies in this area. It was good on this day. So many varieties of green veggies, I love it! The fruit section is also pretty impressive. Papayas, guanabana, dragon fruit, pommelo, tangerines, korean pear, manzano bananas,...Not your ordinary apples and oranges. Dry goods include a plethora of rice, including Thai sweet rice, Japanese rice (perfect for sushi rice), red rice (known for high fiber and low glycemic index)... Who likes Chinese Style sausage? Me! It is called Lap Xuong, in Vietnamese. I love making Thai sweet rice and serve with thinly sliced Lap Xuong - my mom fed us kids this often! And yes, they have a good supply of this here, so stock up, it will last forever in the pantry. Vietnam is the world's second largest coffee producer. You will see the crazy amount of coffee products sold here, for example, Vinacafe. Most are packed as individual serving packets which includes cream and sugar. Too convenient for consumption! Also perfect to have in your pantry. You shall be impressed with the chili aisle. Sambal of all kinds. You can make an awesome pot of chili with this heat! Lots of Lunar New Year items too. I am sure there are still some left for purchase if you didn't have a chance to pick some up yet. They do have a liquor department too. Asians can drink iykyk. If you do, please don't drink and drive. Parking is ok, if you go shopping off peak hours. Market is on Beach Boulevard and it could get pretty busy so plan wisely. So enjoy your visit. It is always fun to discover a new product and try something you have never eaten before!

I noticed other customers approaching staff directly for assistance, so I eventually did the same. The employee behind the counter selected four beautiful salmon steaks for me. However, while packaging them, the bag split open and all four steaks fell onto the floor. The employee quickly picked them up and took them back behind the counter. It appeared that he attempted to rinse them off and package them to sell to me anyway. When he brought them back, I asked, "Didn't those salmon steaks just hit the floor? Could you please get me four new ones?" His response, said quietly under his breath, was, "Oh, you saw that." He then selected four replacement steaks, weighed them, and labeled them for purchase. I was very disappointed that anyone would attempt to sell food that had fallen on the floor. That experience left a very negative impression and made me question the seafood department's food handling practices. The rest of my shopping experience was fine, and the highlight of my visit was one of the restaurants inside the store--a boba and milk tea shop. The service there was excellent, and I had one of the best yogurt and pumpkin milk teas I've ever tasted. That positive experience is the reason I'm giving three stars instead of one. This chain differs from their competitor Mitsuwa in that they are more focused on being a grocery store. As such their grocery staples and their bentos are more varied than Mitsuwa. This probably makes up for their lack of food court. They also carry unique seasonal goods that Mitsuwa doesnt and vice versa. Mitsuwa has food courts and temporary traveling specialist vendors which are always exciting. Mitsuwa probably has a wider selection of more specialized goods tho. That said both chains are a great service to our area and will satisfy any Japanese food enthusiast like myself.

The store itself is smaller if you compare it with places like Shun Fat Westminster Superstore or Hòa Bình supermarket. There is only one checkout counter and the staff all seem to be Vietnamese. After walking around, they pretty much have all the basics covered. The focus is Vietnamese and Southeast Asian ingredients and sauces. They have their own seafood and meat counter with number tags where you can ask them to clean or cut fish, plus a small deli to go section. I also noticed their delivery vehicle outside that says wholesale, so it seems like they also supply restaurants in the area. Overall it feels like a neighborhood market that also does some wholesale business. The fresh section looked clean and there was no strong smell. I happened to see ground pork on sale for $2.49 per pound. The regular price was $2.79. Of course I had just paid $3.99 per pound earlier that day at 99 Ranch in Irvine because I wanted convenience. While we were there, a Vietnamese lady next to us was buying a big pile of meat and seafood and chatting with us while waiting for it to be cut. She said she always shops here. She ended up buying the last of the ground pork in the display. We asked if there was any left and the butcher said he had more in the back, so we immediately decided to grab two pounds. I think this place is perfect if you do not want to push a cart around a huge store and just need to pick up a few items quickly. They are open until 8pm. Next time I have more time I will come back and explore a bit more to see what other interesting things they carry.
