Communication scheduling the visit was good. I needed debugging my roof top A/C (stopped working). Technician Basim came on time. I told to him that fuses, capacitor on the unit are good but no voltage across the cap (I checked) which points to the A/C power delivery problem. He tested the unit and told me that contactor and fan are bad and their repair is north of $1K. I tried to asked how he arrived to this conclusion but his English was very poor and I was not able to get a clear answer. Anyway, after he has left I rechecked the contactor - it was fine, no problem. I opened power box next to the A/C and found out that there is no 240V, which point to the power delivery issue. I found A/C power panel w/ 2-pole circuit breaker for the A/C and, surely, the breaker was down. I switched it on and A/C started working. The technician is just completely unexperienced. read more

My dryer was not starting and I approached them. They charge a diagnostic fee of $75. Upon agreeing to that, we booked an appointment and the contractor showed up 30 mins late (but I didn't care). He opened up the dryer and found that a kids sock was stuck in the fan. Then the contractor said that it will cost $200 to fix it ( with warranty). The 200 includes the diagnostic of $75. He said that was their minimum. After pushing a bit, he said I can pay $150 if I opt out of the warranty. Why the F do we need warranty for removing socks? Basically he was checking if I was idiot enough to take warranty for that. But wait, why the hell should I pay additional $75 ( total 150) for just removing the socks. Then I was told that the diagnostic does not include opening the dryer. Then what do they do as part of the diagnostic? How would they identify a problem with motor without opening the dryer? Ok, atleast I should have been told before opening the dryer that there will be an additional cost. I called the office and was initially told that the diagnostic doesn't include fixing the problem (removing the socks). After talking for a while, they agreed to reduce the total cost to $100. Islam arrived a few hours later and quickly determined that the problem was not with the furnace itself but a blown fuse. He fixed it and also changed the orientation of the box so it wouldn't happen again. Called several appliance repair services on Yelp before I found NUR Service who could address the leak from my 42 year old Maytag washer. Yes, my Maytag is that old and reliable! Ilias came out the next day; he was both on time and professional. He took the front panel off and found that the drain hose had a crack in it. He told me he would order the part which would take a few days, but he would also check nearby appliance parts stores. Luckily, he found the new hose, and he surprised me by returning just a couple of hours later. Ilias replaced the hose quickly and cleanly. I'm very happy with my new heating-cooling heat pump system, which ties in to my existing ducts, is energy efficient (using electricity rather than natural gas), and keeps my furnace as an alternate option. I called several companies asking for quotes on something else - a whole house fan - and NUR had the fastest and most professional response. Technician David came out and explained several options to me. He said we could try just an attic fan and that alone may cool my home enough. He gave me a quote for that, and also for a whole house fan, and a heat pump. He explained what each option would and would not do. I decided to go with the heat pump heating/cooling along with an attic fan. Even though it was the most expensive choice, I think as time goes on and our climate gets warmer, AC will become even more expensive and hard to get. INSTALLATION: The installers, Artur and Vlad, were polite and considerate as well as competent and hard working. The installation was complicated, including drilling and hammering throughout the crawl space running under the entire house, and completely taking apart and putting back together my furnace. After 2 days I had AC, and after 2 more days I had the attic fan, heating, and was ready for inspection. CUSTOMER SERVICE: After the job was completed and I had paid, I had a few questions, and David responded immediately and said to call anytime questions come up. I have called a few more times and always received an immediate and thorough response. Excellent customer service before, during, and after installation. Highly recommend the team from Nur for your HVAC requirements. We basically needed to replace the furnace and all ducting, remove old insulation from the attic and install new insulation in our 50+ year old townhome. We also wanted to install central cooling. To complicate matters we strongly desired that the new furnace be installed in the garage, vs the second floor where the original was installed.
