We are regulars here and have been dining here for over 4 years. Correction: we *were* regulars here. For your everyday sushi joint, we would give this restaurant 4 stars, but unfortunately tonight is the last time that we will be dining here. Their business is busier than ever, but the quality of food and service has suffered in the last 6 months. Portion sizes have gotten smaller. This is especially noticeable in the cuts of salmon in their once delicious oyako donburi. Prices have also gone up (an inverse relationship to portion size). Tonight my family and I waited 40 minutes to get seated while others behind us were seated first. This was due to logistics around a high chair, so I was willing to overlook that, but the level of service and lack of attentiveness that followed after we were seated was disappointing to say the least. No one was interested in taking our order. Our food arrived after our neighbors, who ordered the same things after we ordered. The tables around us also received free gyoza while we did not. No one bothered to check in or refill our teas. No one was interested in grabbing our bill even though the line of people waiting to get seated was out the door. Overall minus 1 star for downhill food quality and minus another star for horrible service and poor management. We won't be back. read more

I looove O'Sushi. I've been coming here ever since It opened in Newark. It's a small place, but there's something so comforting about it every time I walk in. It's good for a few people but not large parties. The staff is always so friendly. They give complementary edamame appetizer if you dine in. For rolls, I recommend the Lion King because they use real soft shell crab instead of imitation, which makes it stand out from other sushi restaurants. All their rolls are larger than most places but the prices are actually on the cheaper side, which is hard to find so that's a plus for me! read more

Great place for a quick sushi fix. Every time I've been here, the service has been very nice and speedy. They gave us complimentary edamame, miso soup, and gyoza before our meal! We also got a free scoop of ice cream after our food. The prices were pretty standard for rolls around this area. The food came out pretty quickly. There was one roll that had sriracha that we didn't love, but all the other rolls were good. We tried salmon lover, #1 roll, Loki roll, and dragon roll. We got the food through DoorDash tonight. It was absolutely horrible. The steak teriyaki was really tough, overcooked and tasteless. Love coming here since it's so close to where i live. Been here multiple times for lunch and dinner. Sometimes they give complimentary gyoza and sometimes they don't but they always give free ice cream for dessert, oh and edamame too! Love all the sushi rolls here, i have not tried one that i didn't like. One of my favorites is the Super Lion King which is basically just a regular lion king roll but with UNAGI! i love unagi and love getting unagi sauce on the side to dip all my sushi in. Left the restaurant a few minutes ago, can't speak for the food because we never even got approached to order after initially being seated. Keep in mind we were the first guests to arrive once they opened. We were seated and given a bowl of edamame. After 18 minutes of being ignored we decided to leave once they took the order of another table that arrived after us. They only acknowledged us once we got up to leave. Too little too late. We left money on the table for the small amount of edamame we ate. Safe to say we won't be back. Left and went to another sushi restaurant instead. I'm rarely in this area but my cousin wanted to have his birthday lunch here, so it had to be worth it. This place is definitely a gem of hole in the walls. Very spacious and comfy enough for a good 6-7 parties. We ordered bentos, yakisoba, shrimp sho-mai, and the top sushi rolls. Everything was up to far, I wish I wasn't tipsy from the hot sake served. BEST SUSHI PLACE IN NEWARK! 1. Food is great. Fish is fresh! Literally everything I've tried from bentos to rolls to sashimi etc. is always great. 2. Service is great which tops it off. They do tend to get busy during the weekends but they still hold it down and do their best which is always appreciated. Sushi chefs are talented and always deliver consistency as well. This place is super hospitable and though they we aren't on a name basis, they remember my roll preferences! Price is the same as any other good sushi restaurant so at least you're getting high quality food here for the same average sushi price. They are also on Doordash which is super convenient as well! My wife and I love eating sushi and were in the mood for some recently. We did a quick search and found O'Sushi and decided to give it a try. Upon entering we were greeted with friendly smiles and led to a table near the bar. We were immediately asked if we wanted anything to drink and were soon brought some complimentary Edamame and Miso soup. After looking over the menu we decided to try the Jalapeño Yellowtail, the Honeymoon, the M&M, the Super Lion King and their Scallop and Uni Crudo, that was listed on the specials board. It was still very early in the day so the restaurant wasn't too crowded and our first dish arrived soon with each dish arriving soon after. In the midst of eating our second dish a server came by with complimentary gyoza! My wife loves gyoza and after tasting them was very satisfied, she even praised the sauce that was served with it claiming that it had a light sweetness that went well with the gyoza. All the dishes looked beautiful on their plates and were even better once we tasted them. Our tastebuds were treated to a festival of sensations, from tangy, to sweet, to spicy...each bite delivered! We were so thoroughly satisfied that we knew this would not be our only visit and that a review needed to be written. I'm really disappointed with their wait times. I tried calling today to place an order over the phone but it would disconnect. At 12:15, I placed an order through DoorDash for pick up. It originally said it would take 30-45 minutes to pick up. Once I got the confirmation email, it said pick up would take an hour (1:30-1:45) I kept checking DoorDash for my status and then it said it would be ready by 1pm! So I headed over there and it's still not ready! They kept telling me a few more minutes. It was already 1:30 and they said they were packing it. It was already 1:45 and I guess they were still packing it! DoorDash and O'sushi were not consistent with their ETAs to the customers. A few customers were really upset as well with the false estimated times for pick up, assuming that they are probably door dash drivers. read more

This place has been my go to sushi spot for about 5 years now. The owners are so kind and greet me as If I were family. The sushi is reasonably priced and tasteful. My only complaint is that parking can be limited depending on what time you go, other than that I definitely recommend this place to anyone in town looking for a sushi spot read more

Found my new sushi joint!!! Wanted to try something new so decided to try this place out. The reviews looked awesome and luckily it's not too far away from my house. And they gave me a bowl of edamame as soon as I sat down. Awesome!!! First things first. This place has both Yakisoba and Yakiudon!!! I've been looking for a Japanese place that has this and surprisingly they did! Ordered the chicken Yakisoba , Atlantic Roll, and a Sake nigiri. My order came with soup and salad. Loved the dressing on the salad,it's a little sweet and soup was pretty average Sake nigiri came our first. Definitely more salmon to rice ratio, which is a plus! Salmon was fresh and melted in my mouth. It was pretty good. Next came my yakisoba. Very nice portion and super flavorful! I could have done without the chicken so next time I'll either get shrimp or just regular vegetables. But in no way did I dislike this dish! I will definitely be getting this again. Atlantic Roll was delicious. Super crispy and moist with creamy sauce. Sauce added sweetness and all around an awesome roll. Service was awesome. Sushi is reasonably fresh and very well priced. A sushi combo that comes with 8 types of seafood, including red snapper, scallop, shrimp, salmon, tuna, ..., salad and soup only costed $14. The device is a little bit slow, but not terrible. read more

O'Sushi provides the best sushi and selection of food in Newark. I adore their S.F. Giants and tamago nigiri. Their sashimi is fresh and tasty. It is great that they serve free soup and salad for certain dishes besides edaname. I usually get a free order of either potstickers, chicken karage, or fish dish depending the amount of dishes that I ordered during that time. The restaurant is usually busy, so be patient with your bento orders. It takes a longer period of time to get this meal. Sushi is quicker since A.J. moves very fast with the order. The servers are great since they know me by my name for being a regular customer. The atmosphere is nice. I love the music that A.J. compiled together as well. Parking can be a little tough during busy hours. There are a lot of stores in the plaza. I recommend this restaurant. It is simple to order on the phone to go as well. read more

Wow! Japanese servers and food! Food was fast, servers really helpful and friendly, and more important Sushi was great (or so I am told, I am not a Sushi person so I had Fish, and that was good too)! We went there for Memorial Day due to the high rating and reviews, the experience wasn't horrible but left me perplexed how can this place be rated so high?? the service was ok, but the food was subpar. We ordered a chirashi, regular CA roll, and 3 items bento. The raw fish was just so so, but the sushi rice taste like more like white rice, as if they ran out of rice vinegar or something. The fish katsu battered was way too thick, sesame chicken was fried with tempura batter, which make it way too oily and gross, the sashimi that came with bento was tiny leftover pieces, but is part of bento so whatever. The reg CA roll imitation crab is still the "stick" kind. I guess their most popular thing is the free fried dumpling and green tea ice cream, but it really doesn't cover the subpar food. 4 stars is on point for this place and pretty accurate. The service here is great and every time I've been here, they've given complementary appetizers such as pot stickers and edamame - a very nice touch! I've always gotten the sashimi boat with the bf, and it's quite filling along with the appetizers that they give. Though, not the best sashimi I have had in the Bay Area, it is still a very good contender if you are in the area and craving some fresh sashimi with great service. I placed an order for pick up through DoorDash. My order went from being ready between 712-722pm to 756-806pm. I called the restaurant to ask about this and the woman told me my order was ready. My husband went down to pick it up and was told it was not ready. He waited 15 minutes and went to check on my order. He was told it would be another 40 minutes. I cancelled my order and am waiting to chat with someone from DoorDash about this. I have NEVER had a restaurant that I've ordered through DoorDash treat a customer this way. It's main appeal is probably because they revamped/changed ownership from their previous place, and got really nice new menus. As soon as they put down the plates I was sad because it was obvious they skimped out. Rolls were standard 6-8 but fillings were tinnnny :( The tuna on my cherry blossom was bright neon red, I'm pretty sure it was dyed or treated with carbon monoxide to give it that color. It was also sparse as well, didn't even wrap the outside of the roll equally. The other two rolls were better, but still small. Another thing that I noticed was that I saw the sushi chef behind the counter and a waitress were eating while working... That probably violates some sort of health code Still want to give this place a chance so I will order something different in the far future, otherwise I recommend trying somewhere else to fulfill your sushi cravings read more

There are SO many sushi places in Newark now, and just in this little area. I love it! O' Sushi is definitely on top of their game. Bento box is huge! They gave us plenty of beef teriyaki. We ordered the Crazy Horse roll and it was really good! It was packed full of big chunks of fresh fish. The roll was huge and did start falling apart when you picked it up, but that's forgivable due to the amount of fish that was inside the roll. Complimentary miso soup and green tea ice cream... yum! Service was super friendly and efficient. It's a small restaurant... much smaller than you think when you look at it from the outside, but it's cozy and the big booths are comfortable. Since there aren't many seats, there's usually a wait during peak times, especially on the weekends. It's definitely worth the wait, though! Can't wait to come back and try more of their sushi. Their tempura plates also looked good, so I'll definitely give that a try next time also! read more

I was intrigued by the four star rating, and ultimately pretty disappointed with every item we ordered here. With the in-laws in town we decided to get sushi for dinner, and chose O'Sushi. We ordered a variety of rolls, a couple bento boxes, and a chicken Katsu. The bento box with chicken and steak was legitimately terrible. The steak was insanely thin, had the consistency and texture of lunch meat, and minimal sauce. The chicken was slightly better, but also lacked sauce and flavor. We got your standard variety of white people rolls, in addition to some sashimi and more deluxe rolls. One had kiwi and ranch on it. This was arguably the worst roll I have had in my entire life. Everything else was just painfully average. Maybe we were spoiled living in Redwood City, but we are yet to find a decent sushi place in Newark. We have been to O'Sushi twice, and have been underwhelmed. Oh well, onto the next place. read more
