I've been here twice now. The food is pretty great. The service has always been stellar, both at the bar and at a regular table. I've tried the calamari, french toast, and chilaquiles. Each visit, also ordered their bottomless mimosas. They give you can option of three different flavors. Price is reasonable at $25. Parking can be difficult especially on the weekend, seeing as how it's located on PCH. Oak is the perfect spot for small plates and drinks. The location is great--right across from the beach and tons of street parking. I brought my family to this restaurant when they came in to visit and the servers were very accommodating to our party of 6. They made sure to seat us in a nice location and were very attentive to our table. We may have been slightly underdressed as we had all been walking on the beach prior to dinner. It's also worth mentioning that they are a farm to table restaurant. It only makes a place that much better when you know your food is sourced well. Visiting for only two days, so we based some of our choices on reviews & hangryness.. we chose well. My girlfriend was craving tacos - Oak Laguna definitely did not disappoint with the shrimp tacos! I tried the sampler (one of each) If I were to rank: Shrimp, Pork, Potato (simply for its uniqueness), & beef in that order. My husband and I were in the area killing time before dinner plans with family and thought we'd stop by someplace for drinks and an appetizer. Unsure about which places would be open and to what capacity, we made a few calls and decided to land at Oak. It provided us exactly what we needed to linger a bit and enjoy the view on their outdoor patio. Service was a bit slow because there was only one server who was also running the bar, but we were completely understanding given the nature of things, plus it was nice not feeling rushed to turn a table over during a bustling summer crowd. I was craving a tropical drink, and the rum based Shredded Sunshine tasted like a cross of a mai tai/pina colada. Sadly, I could barely taste the rum and the drink was fairly weak, but my husband's bourbon based Strawberry Crush was nice and stiff. I do appreciate they use higher quality liquor as their well, albeit you pay for it at $16 per drink. For noshing, we ordered a dozen oysters. You can't go wrong with fresh lemon, horseradish, cilantro and cocktail sauce for garnishing. We devoured them. After, we walked around and sat at the benches down the various waterfront side streets. A big afternoon win in my book! read more

Who am I, Kanye? Dining at Oak is like having a personal chef in my own kitchen, and of course I live at the beach in Laguna. The corn, oh Lord the corn is something that will ruin you for all other vegetables. The truffle mashed potatoes will make you weak in the knees. My sea bass was perfectly done, so tender and all the taste of the sea you want, without being "fishy". My wife's rib eye had the most amazing glaze, and every bite I could steal off her was excellent. The service from chef Nick, owner Tia, and server Brian made me feel like I was in the comfort of my dining room. Wow what took me so long to come here?! We came on a Tuesday night with plenty of parking on PCH. It's located on the second level of the shopping center. During the day you will get nice ocean views. The staff was friendly and our server Javier was fantastic. We were celebrating a special occasion and they decorated our table with cute napkins and photo props. Everything sounded so good so we ordered a bunch of small plates: calamari, oysters, crab cake, meatball, shrimp racks and the donuts for dessert. Everything tasted excellent. The crab cake was my least favorite though so okay to skip. But don't skip the donuts and ice cream! We devoured it even though we were so full. We took home no leftovers haha. I highly recommend! Saw it online, decided to drive up PCH and give it a go. It's definitely a little tricky for a first timer to find going through the Village Faire Shoppes. It right on the corner of PCH and Oak St, right above Gina's Pizza. It was quiet when we got there early on a Sunday morning, so we kinda had the staff to ourselves, which was sweet! I must say all the staff was just top notch. They were so good to us! Great food combined with a great staff always brings us back! We sat down and right away ordered some mimosas for a perfect start! For our meals we got the Crab Cake Benedict, just writing this makes me drool. Great choice for an eggs Benedict. We also got the Granola French toast which was a perfectly sweet/savory pair of meals to share! If this place has one thing going for it, it's the view. I was debating my main and was hesitant on ordering shrimp tacos as an entree, but they were the best shrimp tacos I've ever had! I had the corn tortillas rather than flour, and the cheese was crustsed on top of the tortillas. They were even so kind as to let my husband pick a birthday dessert. We decided to find a good Happy Hour dinner for our 44th Anniversary and we are really glad we came to Oak . Our server Dani was great and wished us a Happy Anniversary and there were Happy Anniversary napkins on the table. We ordered the Oktoberfest menu warm , soft and very large Pretzel , it was very good and Mary really enjoyed this item . The Calamari was good but could have been a little crispier . I liked the Ribs and Mary had one small bite . My favorite flavor of the evening was the Ahi tacos in a Wonton shell , great sauce and fresh Ahi . Who would have thought granola was the secret to never-soggy French toast?! The servers assistant was also so great, we were always taken care of! There brunch menu is small, but it seems like it was still pretty good. I'm so eager to try their lunch/dinner options! The hash browns weren't my favorite and the avocado sauce tasted sour. The french toast was good. The eggs Benedict were also good. Service was friendly- it seems like everyone helps each other out here as well; if we needed anything and our server wasn't around another server would show up immediately and take care of us. Portobello mushroom starter was my favorite dish that I didn't know I needed. It's a mushroom covered in cheese and pesto, need I say more? We also had the stir fry, ahi tuna stack and crab cakes. The stir fry was light and filling with a chimichurri sauce with a ton of seasonal veggies. Ahi tuna is covered in mango and micro cilantro served with perfectly cooked wonton chips. This place is really nice! Makes for a perfect date night and has nice views of Coast Highway. Came here on a Saturday night for dinner and had an easy time getting seated with a reservation. My husband and I decided we were in a sandwich type of mood. I got the hot chicken sandwich and he got the cheeseburger. Both items were great! The chicken sandwich definitely had a kick of heat, but it was nothing that I couldn't handle or that was overwhelming. The fries were nicely displayed in a tin with ketchup and mustard squeeze bottles provided. The cheeseburger was very juicy, nicely seasoned and had some good sauce on it. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, and the service was very attentive and friendly. I loved the ambiance and vibe here. They had live music with a band and a nice bar scene. We decided to give the Oak Laguna Beach another try to improve my previous review. This time the service was excellent. Service: 5 out of 5 It is amazing how everything revolves around the overall atmosphere and dining experience when the service is top-notch. The host sat us down immediately after checking in and he gave us a nice table out on the patio overlooking the peek-a-boo view of the ocean. Secondly, our server was cheery and enthusiastic. He was attentive and gave us several recommendations on what to order. Food: 4 out 5 I do appreciate their short menu which makes it easier to choose. Most of the items listed are popular SoCal dishes such as tacos, calamari, clam chowder, meatball, good selection of salad, fried chicken with mash potatoes, steak, and pork chop to name a few. Our favorites here are the tacos, calamari, meatball, and clam chowder. The pork belly tacos are very delicious and tasty. Their calamari is always freshly fried with the right amount batter topped with their own thousand island sauce and some slices of jalapeños under a bed of cabbage salad. The meatball which came with slices of slightly toasted sourdough bread is also very good. My husband's favorite here are the clam chowder and short-rib tacos. He can't get enough of the short rib tacos, and would typically order four to satisfy his hungry tummy. As for me,my favorite is the pork belly tacos. It is slightly crispy on the outside and very tender in the inside garnished with some of their special sauce and toppings. It is absolutely delicious! And of course, the dining experience won't be complete without the dessert as the finalé. I've tried two of their desserts: the donuts with ice cream, and their B'roakie with ice cream. Both are excellent! Ambiance: 4 out of 5 I appreciate that the Oak has reservation service through Open Table. It makes the dining experience convenient and less stressful without having to wait to be seated. Overall, I am so glad that this time I had a good dining experience here. Saturday night is prime rib night. I love prime rib. It was the best that I've had in a long long time. I subbed the potatoes for there truffle mash and omg they were a 10 out of 10 compliments to the chef. They also have a great cocktail selection.
