The food also came out very quickly, we probably waited 10 minutes or so. The service was also quick and excellent! Overall highly recommend this restaurant. Only cons are our table was pretty close to the 3 around us and we were indoors. Also the wait to get our order taken was pretty long. 3rd time my family has eaten at Oak Steakhouse. Made reservations about a month ago for a Christmas dinner for my family last night. We were very disappointed. Spent a great deal of money and unsatisfied. Restaurant was not very busy. Took 10 minutes to be seated for a party of 5. Sat us at a table for 10. Weird. Empty tables near where we were seated. Took at least 15 minutes to get cocktails. Drinks were meh! Didn't receive our food until an hour and a half after ordering. Three of our diners had steak and temperature of each was undercooked. It was my birthday and the hostess greeted us with a smile on her face & made sure we were sat in a timely manner. The food here is absolutely amazing. The only reason I gave four stars is the bill is outrageous. I honestly didn't look at the breakdown but we ordered the one octopus appetizer-$18, the steak with blue cheese-$64, king crab mac & cheese-?(lobster Mac was listed as $19), and three drinks-average $15 each. The bill came to $172 before tip. The only way I can figure the bill was that high is the king crab cost a lot more than the lobster mac & cheese (they were out of lobster) and/or my husband was given a more expensive dry aged steak when he ordered the Prime steak. as I said the food was amazing and well worth it if you don't care about the bill. Was immediately sat down at a table with an amazing view. Made reservations for my mom's 66th birthday. Our serve Kyle was the sweetest ever. Always made sure to check up on us at all times. I'm a pescatarian but wanted to try her risotto which had sweet potatoes and cranberry and that was delicious. I could have eaten it all. My brother cleaned his entire plate which was the medium well filet mignon and shrimp. Every piece he cut was so tinder and you could see it was cooked to perfection bc the juice was pouring out of it. My sister enjoyed her steak frites and of course you can't do wrong with truffle fries (don't need any ketchup for that). And lastly the asparagus were seasoned well. Not too soft and not too crispy. We went here for our anniversary. The staff noted our anniversary on our reservation. Upon being seated they presented us with a card signed by the staff. After we submitted our drink order our waitress brought us two glasses of prosecco! We had a nice toast. We both ordered steaks and a couple of sides. Had the opportunity to dine at Oak Steakhouse twice this year. The first meal was Father's Day brunch and then for a friend's birthday in August. Service has been great both times. Father's Day brunch I ordered the french toast with a side of pork belly mac & cheese, with truffle frites for the table. The mac & cheese was disappointing unfortunately. The pieces of pork belly were hard and the flavor was eh. French toast was ok and the truffle frites came out cold :( In August, I opted for what I deemed a safe choice, the Oak Burger and truffle frites. I ordered the burger medium and it came out a quite bit rarer than I expected. Honestly, I didn't send it back because I didn't want to wait again. One of my friend's event mentioned/asked, if I ordered it medium because she saw how rare it was. I ended up taking it home and putting it in my air fryer along with my fires. Thank God for air fryers. It was cooked more but now my bread was soggy and it wasn't like getting a fresh hot burger and fries. After the first visit, I did not plan to revisit. My friend chose Oak for her birthday dinner and I wasn't going to miss that! I will say though, during the birthday dinner the Oak staff brought out complimentary appetizers to our table. They did this because our food was taking a while to come out. They brought us truffle frites and fried onions which were both pretty good. They came out fresh and hot, and we were hungry. So I always knew about the Oak Steakhouse in Charleston and when i heard there was one in Charlotte I had to quickly see if it was on par with Charleston. Well I can say that it is on par with Charleston's Oak house! The food, atmosphere, service and overall experience is one that leaves me wanting to come back over and over again! The manager personally comes to every table to not just check up on you but to really help with the dinning experience. He was awesome and even gave us a free appetizer to try out! We went for restaurant week so it was a true bang for your buck! $35 for three course meal and you can't go wrong here! I got the filet 8oz med rare and the temperature was literally cooked to perfection!!! The only thing I would change is the seasoning. Thanksgiving and both my husband and I are in to much pain to think about food thanks to celebrating his birthday here last night. While the Staff was super friendly, the rest was a hot mess. -My Salad was great but the Bread was a joke and no one told us the butter has Salt Crystals inside (I need to watch my salt intake) so it was nasty to taste nothing but salt. - It took forever to get our main course (the place was almost empty) at first we thought they waited on me to finish my salad but we figured out pretty quick that that wasn't the case cause it still took forever after they removed the plate. - The Lobster was Red Lobster size & taste but over priced, the Mac & Cheese & his Steak were ok but the cream corn had a Peanut and Cheese taste to it (not sure if it was their goal because we believe that is what got us sick giving I ate the most and are hurt the worst). - picked the place seeing the nice Desserts with a Happy Birthday on it, ..... my husband didn't got one I (not my husband) ordered a dessert to go, they wrote Happy Birthday on the box and threw a candle inside then charged us for it ‍ He did however got a Card with their Stamp on it and a handwritten note thanking him for celebrating his birthday there. ..... nope, not even a coupon. This place has been only wonderful in all of the times that I have visited it. I am a consistent patron to Oak Steakhouse and have been for numerous years. The food here is unlike any other that you'd find for it's price. Each and every molecule from this restaurant which enters my mouth is heavenly. It's as if there is a miniature chef descending upon my taste buds and preparing a meal to rival that of the meats found in Peter Luger Steakhouse right on my tongue. All for a price classified as only 3 dollar signs on Yelp, a total steal for the quality of food which you will experience here. To continue, the employees are nothing but angels to me and those who follow me to this fine establishment, always being at the utmost highest level of service. They all go above and beyond with their jobs, attempting to please anybody who enters, no matter what mood they are in. From my experience, they always succeed in these attempts, leaving me completely satisfied with the waiters, no, the people that I meet here for only brief moments. On top of that, simply being in the restaurant gives you a feeling of giddy and joy, as if you're in a high profile bistro, in which only people from the top echelons of society dine. What I mean by this is that the lighting, the furniture, the decorations, the general layout of the building are all so deluxe and fancy, reminiscent of the restaurant in NYC; Jean-Georges, per se, or another restaurant in NYC, called 'Per Se.' How funny! To conclude, I have only had extremely positive times within Oak Steakhouse, and I highly recommend it to anybody who may get the chance to come here. I loved my experience here! I noticed there were quite a few negative reviews about this place and I have no idea why. I love places that are nestled in Southpark as opposed to driving uptown for a nice dining experience. I've heard great things about the location in Charleston so i was happy to see a location here. It's always a plus when a restuarant has complimentary valet because finding parking is never fun. Upon entering the restaurant it gave me everything that I would expect from a great steakhouse. The staff was very polite as they sat us and provided us with our menus. Everything looked delicious but I chose the bone in porkchop and it was definitely a great choice. Ok, this is what restaurant week is about ! I haven't been here since my lackluster experience back in 2017. So, 5 of us decided to come here to check things out. They offered Cesar salad and parsnip bisque. I was too scared to actually order the bisque and the waitress graciously offered a sample along with the salad I safely ordered. The bisque was excellent. I really enjoyed the salad too, but it could have used a bit more dressing. For the entree, I ordered the 8oz filet mignon. Omg - this was A-MAZ-ING. It was as soft as butta. Cooked to perfection. We asked for horseradish cream sauce on the side and it made it even better ! It was served with mashed potatoes and asparagus. Yummy ! We commented over and over again how impressed we were with the steaks. I used to believe Morton's downtown was my favorite steak place, but I do believe my ranking has now changed to put this at the top ! We finished off with the creme brulee cheesecake. At this point, I have died and gone to heaven it is sooo good. Think very soft cheesecake bottom with a crusty creme brulee laying on top. Just wow ! I brought my fiance home a piece and he let out a moan of ecstasy at the first bite and said "You're right, this is pretty good." The manager dutifully came to check on our table. Service was really good. Music overhead at times was varied ... didn't care for the bopping beat of some of the music for a nice steak restaurant and would have preferred to stick with jazz or classical, but otherwise the atmosphere and decor is really nice. Still has a hard slick floor, but they may have added some texture to the floor since the last time I visited, not sure because I was wearing flats this time, leary of my experience of heels on the slick floor during my visit last time. 5 stars, yes ! My husband, Justin, and I, love coming to OAK and sitting at the bar. Sam and Johnny are two of the kindest and attentive bartenders. We both pretty much order the same thing (me: steak frites, hubby: burger) and then change out sides/appetizers/etc as well as our cocktails. They work so well together and it really shows - they make great cocktails - including a serious skinny spicy margarita and smoked old fashioned. We try to get here once a month or so because the bar area is so comfortable - OAK isn't stuffy, and we appreciate that about a steakhouse. read more

This was my first visit to this restaurant. It was a weeknight after work and I had a reservation. They called me earlier in the day to confirm it. I ordered the harvest salad, the 8oz filet with blackened butter, and the olive oil cake for dessert. The salad was good, but I tried the butternut squash soup beforehand and wish I would've got hat instead. They also served rolls with honey butter! I really enjoyed my filet and absolutely loved the blackened butter. It was a perfect combination. The service was ok, the manager helped the server a lot because it was a busy night. She was the nicest. It took an extremely long time for the dessert to come out, and she explained that the pastry chef was behind in the kitchen. I really hate that I was unimpressed with Oak. My first (and last) visit was a particularly impactful one because it was on my birthday. And the rating of 3 stars is a generous one considering how quickly my experience descended from enjoyment into one of dissatisfaction. I gave it a shot in no small part due to a wonderful experience at their sushi restaurant O-ku. When I came in on a Tuesday evening around 6pm I expected that the restaurant would be lightly attended and I could get a table outright. The place looked relatively empty save for a huge party of suits hanging around the bar drinking and mingling waiting for one large table. The hostess, however, said they only had a few high tops - one right beside her and the rest sitting out in the open by the bar - or a seat at the bar. She said it was unusual that they had three large parties that evening (though I only ever saw the one). I decided to sit for a minute and started browsing other restaurants. Finally the hostess came up to me and said "how about a booth?" I said that would be great but realized as she led me over to one of the awkwardly large and red semi-circle booths that it felt a bit uncomfortable right in the middle of everything. It seemed like they were making a huge sacrifice to seat one guy at a table meant for four. I even apologized profusely to her and the waiter. I sat in view of the bar, the TV and a very large room for parties beside the bar that I was told would be full. My waiter was super accommodating and friendly initially. I engaged him with a genuine interest because I am not a steak connoisseur. He guided me through the differences in the steaks, sides, toppings, etc. I settled on a dry-aged 20oz ribeye cooked med-rare (the chef's suggested level according to the waiter) with the scallop Oscar on top. $64 plus $16. Before long an unexpected but free-of-charge baked oysters Rockefeller came out. These things were delectable and I had to confirm that they were a regular item on the menu. After this I started to rethink making a cocktail order and despite preferring a Manhattan usually, I got a Saskatoon by the waiter's suggestion. Meanwhile, bread came out that was nothing at all to praise. Basic rolls with butter. But we came here for the steak didn't we? My cocktail came out and the steak followed it. The waiter had recommended the Brussels sprouts as a side but I didn't order them for fear of having too much food. Despite that, he brought a side of them out to me at no charge. It was generous and I thanked him. But in the end I didn't like them at all. Something to do with the pickling of the onions on top was off-putting. I let him know my thoughts and in the end I didn't take them home. At the same time I was trying to sip my cocktail but it was too powerful. I know bartenders like to be generous with the alcohol in things but it was too much. The citrus bitters were also overpowering and I had to leave this drink sitting on the table with more than half remaining in the glass. The steak was good but I truly wish I had gone up a level with the doneness and got medium. I'm not usually a rib-eye-guy (filet FTW) but you can quickly tell that these marbled steaks need a little longer on the grill to melt and disperse the fats throughout. By the time I had eaten the more cooked parts around the edge, the steak was getting hard to cut with the knife I had and the drink/Brussels sprouts combination was not sitting well on my stomach. I was ready to get the check and go but the waiter was ghost for a long period of time. When he finally showed up again I mentioned the check but I made the mistake of asking to review the dessert offerings first. I didn't order anything but let the waiter know I didn't care for the Brussels sprouts or the drink. He even clued me in that it was probably the pickling of the onions - he knew his stuff. The drink, despite being visibly more than half full, was never mentioned. I saw the manager reply to other reviews that Oak "always" offers a replacement drink if you're not satisfied. It was never comped and a replacement was never even offered although I thought I gave the waiter plenty opportunity. As I paid my bill and stood up to leave something hit me hard: the restaurant was still mostly empty save for the one large party from before. The large room across from me never filled. Several small 2 and 4-person tables elsewhere sat empty the entire time. Was I being screwed with? This point was most frustrating because it punctuated the beginning and end of my experience. I felt more like I was in the way with being accommodated rather than an appreciated guest. As I left, the same hostess asked if I enjoyed myself. I replied honestly with "Eh, it was alright." to which she replied with "Well, have a good evening." The highlight? Despite my direct complaints and obvious dissatisfaction with several things, not once did I hear a "sorry". read more
