This is a good alternative to blanco cafe. You can get mostly the same things for a few dollars cheaper. Its not fancy except for possibly their fancy breaded chili releno. I go here for lunch when I am in a hurry and just need good service. read more

Go here for breakfast! Don't overpay for mediocre food on the Riverwalk. Saw the high rating on Yelp and walked the quarter mile. This is a typical old time diner in an urban environment with a dining area that's all business. You know you're in the right place when the locals fill the space. My breakfast was outstanding at a price that cannot be beat. Tortillas were super fresh since they were being pressed out in back while we were there. Best tortillas I've had. Don't let the outside of this restaurant deter you from going in. This is a great family run restaurant with delicious food at cheap prices. We stumbled upon this place for breakfast when we were looking for an alternative to the tourist traps around Riverwalk and to the hotel buffet breakfast. We ordered a breakfast taco and a breakfast platter. Total was less than $6. Food was so good that we came back for lunch. We ordered the beef and the chicken fajitas. Includes chips and salsa. Be warned, the salsa is the real deal and very spicy. Total was less than $15. Our only regret was not ordering meals to go. read more

My girlfriend and I would eat here sometimes 3 times a week. Well that all changed today. Went into the restaurant today and what happens a roach crawls on the table. Totally grossed my friend out, we get the waitress' attention and she looks at the roach like it was no surprise. She grabs a napkin, kills it on the table, then just brings a wet cloth to clean up after it. Not very apologetic for it and still had the nerve to bring out the food to the same table we were sitting at. Didn't offer to move us, give us our food for free, nothing. My girlfriend didn't eat her lunch. I offered to go somewhere else, but any hunger she had was completely gone. I stupidly at my food because I was hungry. Time to pay, and when my girlfriend asked if there was a "roach discount", the staff made a face and still charged me for my food. I doubt we ever eat there again! read more

My husband brought me into this sparse little restaurant for breakfast. We were happily fed really tasty egg tacos (homemade tortilla.) It was a school holiday, so we enjoyed seeing the "whole family" tend to customers. Truly a unpretentious restaurant with quality homemade food. The coffee was decent too. read more

Thank God for this place. I work nearby, and having lived most of my life in San Antonio I can honestly say I can't remember ever having better breakfast tacos. The tortillas, the only way I can describe them is to say they "melt in your mouth." they are the right thickness, always fresh, and just generally delicious. I have never been here other than breakfast but looking forward to trying their lunch. They are friendly and courteous, good service overall. Excellent food at great prices, right in downtown San Antonio. Easy walking distance from the river walk and worth it. The outside looks pretty divey. I wouldn't have stopped by if it weren't for the Yelp reviews, and I'm glad I did. We tried their breakfast tacos with eggs and papas and one of us got the eggs and bacon breakfast taco, really good, especially at a buck and a half each. Nachos were great and not greasy, and the "puffy" tacos were great. Chilaquiles and green enchiladas were great, too. Hand-made tortillas, which is always a great start for good Mexican food. Not much for ambiance, but service was great and it's authentic. I'd definitely recommend it. read more

Holy moly! This place is amazing! Looks can be deceiving, trust me, just walk in the door. My soccer team of 15 people came here on a Saturday afternoon and were seated and waited on immediately. Food followed very quick and kind service! Most authentic Mexican food I've had in awhile, and incredible fresh - not heavy or fatty. The prices are low as well! Too bad try aren't open on Sunday because we would come back tomorrow in a heart beat! read more

I'm not a huge fan of Mexican food but my husband loves it. He said they were some of the best tortillas he's ever had. I thought my enchilada was pretty good, but it was slightly bland. My husband said the same about his. The people are extremely nice and friendly. The environment is warm and inviting. First off the food looked good, I had the migas plate yesterday morning. But slowly things started to get bad. I found rat droppings next to the sweet and low container. This was ridiculous, what made it worse was to find two more droppings in my tortilla container, don't these things get cleaned. During my visit as I go to the back restroom a rat runs right out in front of me to the kitchen under some kind of cooler. In the restroom, no hot water, the soap is empty and no paper towels. I don't understand this, I recommend that management focus a little more on pest control and at least keeping the restroom stocked. A little paint and maintenance might help. I hope the owners read this and decide to focus a little more on their business. I also noticed one of the workers wipe some small coffee spill off the floor and immediately use the same towel to wipe down a table. As a previous inspector I will definitely be at the COSA health department Monday morning. It's ashamed this is allowed to happen within the city limits. read more
