Our oven died the Friday before Thanksgiving. Lowe's had a good sale going and we had new oven delivered on Sunday. We called Oby's on Monday. They quoted $275 for installation plus $30 to haul away the old oven. Lowe's wanted $50 for the haul away and other companies wanted $300+ for the installation. Robert (the owner) was at our house at 9am Tuesday. He had to move the electrical outlet to fit the new stove, which I guess is part of the service, because we were charged $305, as quoted. Robert is super friendly and answered all our questions. By 11am, we had a new working oven. Can't see how a service can be any better than Oby's. read more

Oby's is the absolute BEST! They've helped us a couple of times, but what i'm really thankful for is when they came and helped to remove a mouse that had crawled into and died inside my stovetop (disgusting, right?!) The smell, first brought to our attention by our dog, began to seep out of our stovetop and it became quite terrible over the course of a single day. I desperately called multiple places to see if they would help me and got a wide range of - "we don't work on Thermador stovetops" to "we do not work with pests and can't help you." We had used Oby's once before for one of other appliances, and I called them expecting to also be turned away, but that was not the case at all. They came out immediately and took care of the job quickly and efficiently! They had no problem removing the Thermador stovetop plate (which apparently is not so easy), and lo and behold, the dead mouse was right there! They removed him for me and we cleaned out the area. I had the intention of also patching up the hole in our floor underneath the stovetop that the mouse crawled through. They were so patient with me while I cleaned the floor, and they generously did the patching work themselves. This review has been a long time coming, and I only wish I had written it sooner. Thanks Oby, you are the best! And will be the only company we call for all appliance related work! read more

Just had a great appliance installation experience with Obys Appliance Installation - Robert Oberkrom (Oby himself) installed our LG over the range microwave and was very thorough, professional, and conscientious. He took great care to point out a section of the microwave that had (barely) been dented in shipping, even though it wouldn't have been noticeable after the install. He was very careful to cover all work areas thoroughly and took great care drilling through our new tile for the microwave support to make sure nothing was damaged. He also rerouted some of the airflow for the venting to be more efficient, and even cared about the small details, like how to route the power cable and attach it to the cabinet wall so that it wasn't in the way. The price was very reasonable considering the time and care that he took with the install. They do everything from small garbage disposal installations all the way up to $40k high-end ovens and ranges. We will definitely be giving Obys Appliance Installation a call to install our new range once we upgrade that as well. read more

I had a cooktop that needed to be replaced and originally tried to get a local handyman to install it-- He told me I bought the wrong replacement and none of it would work. I recently got a new over the range microwave and had it installed by the retailer. Found out that they wouldn't install it to where the exhaust would EXHAUST out of the house... Called up Obys and told them what I wanted done. Robert was able to come out the next day and work on it. Robert found some other concerns with my gas range and recommended a solution. I absolutely agree with all the other positive reviews from people who have hired Robert/Oby. He is a meticulous, bright person who knows what he is doing and cares about doing it right. We actually had to bring him in to redo a bad appliance install from guys suggested by the store we bought our appliances from. I assumed they were the best to use, because they were also the store's delivery option. I had no idea at the time that Oby would actually pick up and deliver appliances from whatever store besides Home Depot or Lowe's that you buy them from, as well as install them. Anyway, now I know! He works in a steady and organized fashion, and knows the proper way that things should be put in. For example, the earlier guys did not bother to take the few minutes to correctly (and to code) hang the drain line behind our dishwasher so that it would be at the right incline to flush out the line each time we use the dishwasher. Luckily, they also installed it in such a ham handed way that it was also sticking out too much, and when I asked them to fix in - they just loosened the brackets and jammed it in a little more. When I brought Oby out to hook up our Vent A Hood to the ducts (which the earlier guys failed to do out of lazy carelessness, not because they were placed wrong - they just knocked them aside and told me I needed to bring the HVAC guy back in to finish up) - the dishwasher was still bothering me aesthetically because of the sloppy fit. I had Oby take it out and see why it would not go in all the way flush as it should have. Lo and behold there was this secret problem that the original guys did not care about doing the right way even though it was five extra minutes of work. Sigh! That is an example hiring a good installer matters even when you cannot see the difference, and this guy is a good one. read more

We recently got a new dishwasher and a washer/dryer. Robert Oberkrom ["Oby"] was recommended by Harway Supply [also excellent, by the way] and he did a superior job. He thought to reverse the position of the washer and dryer from the place where the hoses were placed [to allow the front-loading washer and dryer doors to open toward each other]. He also removed the old trash compacter in the kitchen and salvaged the front panel to cover the unfinished floor underneath. Everything was clean and tidy at the end of the day. Friendly, professional installation! They protected every work surface cleaned up after themselves and took time to give me a few tips about using the features that were different from my last oven and cook top. We've complained in the past about a suspected gas leak at the stove top and no one ever found anything. The installer found the wrong hose, incorrect connectors and I think the source of our complaints. We will use them again for our next kitchen install. read more

I have an old 1950s Austin home that has mostly original appliances. Anyone with one knows what that means when you have to install anything new which usually starts with "well...I haven't seen that in my 40 years of this job". Oby's did a fantastic job from start to end to get my new range and hood installed in a single day (my last dishwasher install took three different trips to get the water, electrical, and final install done). I only got as far as trying to book an appointment with Dahlia and found her to be super condescending and apparently didn't write down a lot of the info she collected from me. I have no idea why but it was crazy how abrasive she was. Any time someone says "I don't mean to be rude but..." you know you're on the receiving end of an earful. Jesus. She sent me an appointment email with no time so I sent her some questions and answered a few more details on the work I needed. Then I got a voicemail from the installer and it was totally rude too--what the hell? I have no idea what their deal is but they are not very professional and honestly I'm willing to pay top dollar to get my island hood vent installed by the best. I would not recommend for anyone to do business with them. They act like you owe them something or you're annoying them. It's nuts. I ended up going with Pro Fit Installation. So far so good with the initial phone call. Update: I got a phone call from them after I didn't respond to their voicemail from this morning. When I picked up I told her that I'd be going with someone else because I didn't think it would work out. Her response was "Good! I'm glad". I was prepared for her to start screaming at me or something. Unbelievable. read more

We've had a hard time with getting vendors to come onsite and do any sort of work on our commercial building. But Obys made installing our new dishwasher almost too easy. Dahlia was able to get us on their calendar for a time that met our needs and Robert was incredibly kind, prompt and helpful. Robert from Oby's Appliance Installation is wonderful. He has done 3 rounds of work as I remodeled my kitchen. Every time he was polite, thorough, and immaculately clean. He worked well with the tradesmen. And his installations were amazing. We had a number of complications and he did what ever it took to get the appliance installed with high quality workmanship, including adding new studs, working in the hot attic to change a vent and moving electrical power. I wanted to give a huge shout out to Oby's Appliance..he and his wife came out and leveled my hood vent, added missing venting parts, and re-installed our stove to remove the 3 inch gap from the back. He was very reasonable and very precise in his measurements. His wife, Dahlia, swept and vacuumed before they left. A little background on what our issues were. Our home is only 2 years old. We paid for the upgraded hood vent but instead of using a professional to install it, an employee of the builder decided to save money and install it. It has been crooked every since. The builder kept saying they would part out the decorative part but it was a hassle. So we asked that we be reimbursed for the upgrade and we will move on. We asked Oby to come by and inspect it. Well......when he inspected the vent, he found the packing styrofoam was still surrounding the motor and was partially melted. Fire hazard. He measured and found that it was not level. When he took off the decorative part, the actual venting arm that takes the smoke out of the house was not there. There was nothing directing the smoke out of the house. That explains why we sometimes have a haze in our house when using the vent. The vent was covered in grease. Lovely. He saw the stove and noticed the 3 inch gap from the wall to the back of the stove. He moved the plug from the back, which was not placed properly and found they did not leave or install the tip plate on the back. So a little background on our fire hazard and the awesome work Oby's did for us this week. I highly recommend him and will use him to install future appliances. read more

First, let me start off by saying Robert did a wonderful job installing our gas range. My wife stayed home, and he was on time, and did a great job. He even checked our current gas line, and decided we didn't need the new one previously quoted to me in the price. I definitely couldn't have asked for better service from that end. Second, these guys are pricy. I understand you get what you pay for, and I really do like to support local business, so i decided to use them even though they were 70 dollars more expensive. To be fair in my review, though, they did offer to attach the range to the wall at this price, and the competition did not. Lastly, and the reason for this review is setting up the appointment. I spoke to Dahlia, who was mentioned in a previous review, but seeing as no one had spoke negatively of her since 2012, I assumed she had either been given a second chance or let go. After my initial call, I called back to setup the appointment. Another plus for them was they were able to set up an appointment for the next day. Again, I'm trying to be fair with my review. Before getting off the phone I again asked her to confirm the cost of the service that I was getting. I was quoted 200 for installation and 45 for a new gas line if needed. I was also told that they can haul off my old unit for an additional 25 dollars, but seeing as my old one still worked, we wanted to give it away to someone who needed it. After the installation, Robert wrote up the ticket for the 200 dollar installation and 25 dollars for moving my range. This price was never discussed. I'm sure some people scoff at 25 dollars extra, but I believe if I am told something, then that is what should happen. Unfortunately, being deployed I was not able to be there myself. When informed of this additional charge, I called back to see why we were charged for the haul off, when we didn't use that service. When I called, I talked to a very upset Dahlia. She informed me that of course we were going to be charged that! They had to move it through a 1 story tiled house to the garage! After informing her that the 25 dollar charge wasn't discussed, she told me how that was an "insurance charge". She stated how she normally charges for gas to our house as well, but she didn't out of the kindness of her heart during Christmas, and because i was in the military deployed overseas. She also informed me how she placed me in front of 10 customers. This would be very thoughtful if it were the truth. Unfortunately, Robert, while talking to my wife during installation, stated how glad that we had called because of how slow they were. Again, outright lies. This is unacceptable behavior by a business. I wish I could review Robert and Dahlia separately, but unfortunately they are part of the same company. My only suggestion is to get it in writing before work is started. read more
