This place is awesome, food, service, views, even the bathroom! We opted to take the boat in instead of hiking, very short, fun and wet ride! We proceeded to order a lot of the menu, EVERYTHING was good. I absolutely recommend the Al pastor octopus! After lunch we walked to the beach for a quick swim before hopping on the next boat.

This place is a gem! We were at Hotel Mousai a few weeks ago and our friends wanted to take us to this spot. My friend knows I love food and said we'd love this place along with the beautiful views. We had to take a boat to get to the restaurant; I loved that! The restaurant is outside on a tiered deck with a roof style covering. The menu has a lot to choose from. Our waiter was great and was so attentive. We ordered so much food with our party and all of it was delicious. Presentation was beautiful, prices were so reasonable compared to portion size. We got your basic guacamole and chips; the chips are freshly made and the guacamole was delicious. All the food was fresh and delicious! The aquachile was perfectly done, as well as the ceviche. Both sashimi dishes were epic. So fresh with amazing flavor profiles. I ordered the octopus al pastor per the waiter; it was perfectly prepared with great pairings. We basically ordered all the desserts and they were all amazing! The lava cake took the prize out of all three. All our cocktails were hand crafted and we enjoyed all the Great Danes on the premises. The walk to the bathroom has a photo op with metal angel wings. The bathroom is really cool; it's an outdoor one with beautiful views. Our experience here was phenomenal and I highly recommend adding this spot to your list if in the area.

Highly recommend making the trip to this restaurant if you can! It's about 30 min drive from downtown PV and then a 5 minute water taxi to the restaurant. The food was great -- the octopus was delicious. We also loved the guacamole and ceviche for appetizers. Definitely worth it for lunch -- you can make a reservation directly with the restaurant and they will arrange the water taxi for you.

What a fun experience. We made a reservation to arrive by boat from the beach at Boca de Tomatlan. It was busy at the beach dock but our boat captain moved up to pick us up efficiently and fast with no problem. We had read the reviews about getting to the dock on time, so we had scrambled a bit, but made it! A fun and scenic ponga ride around the point to the restaurant. Ladies, you may want to wear flats or sneakers on the boat and to climb up the ladder (yes, there is a ladder up to the dock!) and put on your heels or good shoes at the restaurant. We ordered appetizers and drinks. Our entree choices were salmon, shrimp, mahi mahi, grilled octopus, and filet mignon, all great choices. The birthday girl got key lime pie for dessert - delish! Great people watching, friendly and good service, good food makes a great adventure!

If you are visiting Puerto Vallarta you need to go to this restaurant, you can make it a whole day experience. You must make a reservation online on OpenTable in advance: make sure to puck 11am and a weekday to minimize any crowd. Take a cab from Puerto Vallarta to Boca de Tomatlan beach, make sure you leave no later than 10am, road is windy, quite a bit of traffic and road works. The short boat ride will show some great views and you will be in awe as you get to the place. The restaurant view is breathtaking. For the food get some veggies, grilled octopus and catch of the day and your fave drink, you simply can't go wrong. The octopus was incredibly tender and one of the best I have ever had in my whole life! After the meal sport a swimsuit and move to the small nearby playa to take a quick bath; if you have snorkeling gear then make sure to make good use of it. Once you are all refreshed and relaxed you have the choice to go back through the boat ride or the hike. Totally go for the hike (if you are decently fit), it is 40 mins and doable hike through the jungle with more wild views; it is a bit steep at the beginning but it gets easier as you approach Tomatlan.

Great experience! The staff is excellent and provide great customer service. We were 30 minutes late for our reservation because we got lost. They sent the boat back to pick us up at no additional charge. The food was mediocre, but I will be back for the location and the short walk to the private beach. They have fans next to the tables which was great as it was hot and humid. The mahi-mahi was good. My son had a cheeseburger which was also good. I would not get the ribs or the clams. The Aguachiles were good and the octopus was OK. It wasn't bad but it needed a little more flavor.

100% will return here. Amazing location, never packed, you just need a reservation and to show up on time. Gourmet lunch that will knock your swimsuit off. Eating with a view is nice but this place is also only accessible by hiking in or boat, so enjoy the private beach before you leave. 10/10 service, food & location. Definitely a fun and quick mid day adventure.

it is a great scenic adventure only able to arrive by boat. so beautiful! a bit tough getting in and out of the boat ( Im short lol) . but so worth it. The dogs are a trip ! hairless one is funny! chubby pug is cute and Wilson the great dane. ( the leaner) lol the meal was ok. all our meals were cold . the Mahi was bland , chilly and had minimal tiny veggies. ( still hungry after) & it needed spices & rice . the Filet was a large portion and cooked well but the bacon around it was rubbery and uncooked. but tasty enough . order that! large shrimp dish but not hot. baked clams app were hot and had good flavor. cocktails were great. but would have liked more time to enjoy another. the boat came too quick. I met the nice owners and conveyed my cold food concern so perhaps that will be addressed

This place is all about the experience. I highly suggest you book your boat taxi via the restaurant as it is the easiest way to ensure that you have a ride to the restaurant. Also, you have to make reservations so don't think that you can just show up here. There ended up being quite a long line for the boat over to Ocean Grill But we somehow just walked in front and nobody said anything lol the food here was pretty much mediocre. It all looked really pretty but the only meal that tasted good out of the group was the jumbo shrimp. I was not impressed by the salmon dish, my friend was not impressed with the octopus dish either. The drinks here that are more American are not good at all. I ordered a long island and it was extremely sweet and did not taste good at all. I had to trade out my drink I said my girlfriend. However, despite the food not being that great it was again like I mentioned a great experience. If you are a dog lover you're in luck because there are two cute dogs running around. Just be careful cause the small one will continue to beg for food if you give any to it. After you eat you can head over to the private beach which may be full at times but people come in and out via boat taxi as well. It was super hot so make sure that you have your sunscreen. There is a guy who will rent you beach chairs and you can get drinks there too.

Really enjoyed the adventure. After reading the reviews of worst ever to amazing I was torn. However, after making the trek there and then doing the hike it was well worth it. Food was 4 star but the location and adventure made it 5 star. If your on the fence, give it a try!

We took a 20 minute Uber ride to have a beach day outside of zona Romantica where we were staying. We decided to leave because we were hungry and realized that one of the restaurants we bookmarked was just a 10 minute walk and decided to check it out. We were there celebrating a special birthday so we wanted to have one nice dinner and this is the place we chose. We got there around 5 PM and we were the only ones there on a Saturday but it was off-season (Aug) so PV in general was pretty quiet. We were welcome by a friendly man who took us to the top floor with a mountain beautiful view which actually was a nice change from the ocean. The greenery was beautiful. This restaurant is known for their seafood and boy was it fresh. They don't have a specific menu, but rather they bring out a tray of their fresh selection of the day. Everything was beautiful and the shrimp was gigantic. We opted for the red snapper, lobster and the large shrimp. Everything was cooked to perfection and was absolutely delicious. Oh, and I have to make a point of mentioning their margaritas. Fresh fruit margaritas... So yummy. We tried the mango margarita with fresh mangoes and strawberry margarita as well. I just love drinks made with fresh fruits. I think it was my favorite margarita of the entire trip. I do highly recommend you check this place out. The food is phenomenal and the service is wonderful. The 20 minute Uber ride cost about US$15 so well worth it, especially if you do a beach day and make a day of it.

I'm updating my previous 5-star review based on my lunch at Pineda yesterday…read more I'm lowering my assessment to FOUR stars because, while the quality of the food, service, and facilities are still top notch, the owners have continued to raise prices to the point where the value is questionable. One example (based on my menu photo in 2021): The zarandeado then was $190. It's now $445. That's a pretty significant jump. In addition to the increased prices they've dropped many items from their menu and in some cases reduced portions. My waiter told me that they removed the rice and bean side dishes from the "family platters" and the Mexicans, especially, were (!understatement alert!) "displeased." I can understand why: Prices up; selection and quantity down. The impact of this business decision shows. I've been there now a couple of times in Peak Snowbird Season and both times there's been no problem getting a table; it's just not nearly as crowded as it has been previously. Shame, really. I like this place; the food is great, the service is great, the cleanliness is great, the view is great. But coming in with smaller portions, reduced choices, and increased prices is really taking its toll on Pineda. PS: While the Tostada Mixta is one of the starters that's been stripped from the menu, my waiter was kind enough to persuade the kitchen to make one for me anyway (market price).
