There is an outdoor seating area and with Ozen closing at 2am, I can see how the outdoors become popping. Three parking spots in the front and a number of parking spots in the rear. The yakitori platter was also great, and the sushi and sashimi were fresh and nicely presented. Portions are generous enough that it's easy to order several things and share with the table. I also really like the atmosphere here. It has that cozy izakaya feel but with a modern, fun look. The lighting and decor give the place a nice vibe, especially at night. It's casual enough for a regular dinner but still feels special enough for a date, birthday, or night out with friends. Compared with some of the other izakayas nearby, I feel like Ichie gives you a little bit of everything. Some places may specialize more in traditional dishes, while others might have a stronger bar atmosphere, but Ichie does a really nice job combining Japanese izakaya food with creative dishes and a fun dining experience. The service was also friendly and attentive, which made the experience even better. I especially like the little service wand at the table--it's a small thing, but it makes getting someone's attention easy and adds a fun touch to the experience. Overall, I think Izakaya Ichie is a great addition to the Buena Park food scene. I'll start with the positives because the food itself was actually good. We ordered a 16-piece sashimi assortment with four different types of fish, as well as a sashimi rice bowl. The fish tasted fresh, clean, and good quality. This definitely did not feel like cheap or low-grade sashimi. The prices are more on the mid-to-higher side, but based on the seafood quality, I thought the food itself was respectable. Another thing I genuinely appreciated was the Suntory The Premium Malt's on draft. Having previously worked in the Japanese food industry, this is something I always notice. Not many Japanese restaurants around here carry it on draft, and Suntory is particularly known for its fine, creamy foam. The traditional serving style is roughly 70% beer and 30% foam. For anyone who enjoys Japanese draft beer and a properly foamy pour, this is definitely one of the highlights here. Unfortunately, the service was a very different story. When we arrived, the restaurant was busy and we were asked to put our name on the waiting list, which was completely understandable. After we signed in, an Asian woman with long light brown/blonde hair reaching about chest length, who appeared to be a manager or senior staff member, spoke to us in a very unfriendly manner and told us that since we had already put our name down, we should wait outside and not block people from coming in and out. I completely understand the need to keep an entrance clear, especially when the restaurant is busy. My issue was not with the request itself, but with the way it was communicated. The exact same request could have been made politely and professionally. What made the interaction even more awkward was that another employee had already told us that a table would be available very shortly. We could see a table opening up, and sure enough, we were seated only a few minutes later. Unfortunately, the service did not improve much once we sat down. No one came back to check on our table or ask how the food was. When we wanted to order additional beers, it was surprisingly difficult to get anyone's attention. At one point, we actually had to get up and look for a staff member ourselves. I understand that restaurants get busy and everyone can have an off day. I also travel frequently for work and eat at many restaurants, so I do not give a one-star review lightly. But when several service issues happen during the same meal, it becomes difficult to overlook. The sashimi was fresh, the food quality was good, and I would especially recommend the Premium Malt's draft to beer lovers. Unfortunately, the hospitality and overall service made this the most disappointing restaurant experience of my week in LA. I have had a better experience here in the past, so hopefully this was simply an off day. Based on this visit, though, I probably would not return anytime soon.

Their menu specializes in Korean style premium seafood items. They have the option of live or not. They had different set options and items you can get a la carte. We went with their live fish and sashimi set C. We also got some live shrimp and live octopus to try. I love that the staff was super knowledgeable and explained everything to us. The live set included a lot of side dishes. It also included halibut and flounder, a platter of abalone, sea cucumber, cold soup, hot fish soup, calamari and vegetable tempura. All of which were amazing and tasted very fresh. The live octopus was definitely an experience. They tasted fresh and sweet and were very actively moving. If you want to try it I would definitely recommend trying it here. The chef was nice enough to have us try two types of nigiri. Both were amazing and fatty. The whole dinner was quite an experience. Since there were so many dishes they made sure to go in order but not rush us since many items were coming out. The staff was super attentive. Many items came with its own sauce so they made sure we were doing it right. We spent about $400 for 3 people which included alcohol. I thought it was fair especially for how fresh our seafood was. The inside of the restaurant is pretty casual but clean. You can also see most of the seafood items. I recommend if if you want live seafood items Korean style. We will be back.

It's a coursed meal centered around sashimi platters (very unusual to see nigiri at these restaurants), and dishes made with rest of the fish that became sushi. It's sashimi with a lot of extra accoutrements you'd expect in a Korean restaurant. We started with porridge and miso soup, and lots of banchan, including cheesecorn and steamed egg. Then came the sashimi platter. In Korean sushi houses, you get to have soy sauce AND a gochujang based sauce (it's gochujan and vinegar). They also gave us sesame oil + salt and dried seaweed which I think is for the tuna. Then there was tokoyaki, fried rice cakes, tempura, spicy fish stew, grilled fish, fried salmon skin, fried chicken, and spicy marinated crab. All while getting refills on the banchan. It was exactly what I was wanting, as I have not found anything like it in Seattle! The staff was super friendly, and they had a lot of other items on the menu that I would love to try at some point in the future! Highly recommend!
