A room of vintage video games, a nice-sized outdoor area, and yummy pizza make this a great stop on your tour of east ATX breweries... or even a great place to stop for the night. I've come here a few times for a good IPA or glass of wine, and I know this place is known for their food truck, KG BBQ, out back (as it should be), but DO NOT sleep on their pizzas you can order inside. I ordered the Primo Supremo with a couple moderations and it was so so good. Crispy crust, flavor, toppings - all amazing. Can't wait to try more of their food items. Nice little brewery with some tasty Italian for their pub grub. Always have an interesting selection of beers, and the staff is always friendly. Menus are QR code, find a table, scan in the code, figure out what you want, then order at the bar (take note of your table #). They bring it out to you when ready. Drinks are ordered at the bar like most taprooms. Never had a bad meal, and the pizzas and such make a nice change from wings and burgers. This was a horrible food/drink experience. Came here on a Tuesday night, place is empty. We ordered a bunch of drinks, stayed for a while, then got food. The vegetarian pizza was described as having a fake "ricotta" type of texture. It came out burnt, so the vegetarian in our group went back to the bar to ask them to remake it with the vegan cheese they had on the menu. That's when we got the pleasure of meeting the manager who I think might be one of the owners. Dude is bat ish crazy. I think he felt personally offended that we didn't like the fake vegetarian pizza. What started off as us asking for fake cheese on the vegan pizZa, spiraled, at his instigation, and turned into a shouting match about the pizza. Which in turn turned into him yelling at us to leave, in front of the entire, albeit empty, establishment. His partner ended up voiding a $200 bill cause the dude couldn't hold his cool. I was embarrassed to be a part of this whole mess, and it just amazes me how incredibly unprofessional people could be. In their own establishment! With so many better choices even a few blocks away, I can't imagine why anyone would choose to visit this one. Avoid! read more

Today it was set up for games and face painting. The arcade is a nice touch, as well. They also have items like ice cream and apple juice to keep the kids happy. Great Egyptian/ Middle Eastern food from KG BBQ food truck. The rice bowl was tasty, with a bit of yogurt, candied pistachios, pomegranate and brisket on saffron rice. We all ordered something different - for me, I went with the following ale lineup: Mosey Blonde Ale (4.2% ABV) Academic Rigor IPA (6.3% ABV) Worklife Balance IPA (6.0% ABV) Intonation BA Saison (6.8% ABV) I'm an IPA fan in general, but neither of their IPA's resonated with me. Dropped by on New Year's Eve just before close and in time to have a few beers while waiting on a pizza to go. There are lots of cool nooks to hang out in, so I took some pics, inside and out. I couldn't have met a more friendly bartender, Charlie?... and I enjoyed 3 great beers recommended: Ritual Smoke--kind of like a boubon cask but not--Truckasaurus-- nice stout that carries a cherry flavor that grabs you but is gone before you even breathe again after a sip--and a Hard Jazz IPA that was nice. Good pizza, but I had to return before posting, so here I am on Dec. 27th updating things. The stromboli is fricking bomb--bye, bye ordering pizza from now on as this was the best I've had--order Sal's! The mimosa-inspired sour, Tight Bubs, was recommended by Rachel and was fantastic--better than Blue Owl offerings-- and the Kush Wolf IPA (I enjoy hoppy stuff like this one in particular) is my new staple. Pro tip: instead of ordering a flight, order 8oz pours so you get more bang for your buck. Also recommend trying their pizzas. They're pretty small but a nice snack. If you're vegan, the Veggiesaurus was really yummy. They use a cauliflower & nut pesto base which was so good. Oddwood Ales has everything you'd want in your next go-to spot - amazing beers, Rosé, video games you can play for free, tons of seating, PIZZA, and sandwiches! What more could you want? They've been tapping new beers regularly and I've enjoyed all of the ones I've tried so far. The Saison is my favorite though. I haven't had their food yet but stay tuned for an update about it. So if you want to play Mario Kart or Ms. Pac-Man, Oddwood is your destination. And yes, for free - so forget about the change. Plenty of parking outside. Do not fear. This is a trendy little place just off Manor and Airport Boulevard. There's a fair amount of seating inside and plenty of parking. They also have 16 picnic tables outside to sit at. Due to the low ceiling, this place can get quite noisy when crowded. They have a good craft beer selection albeit quite limited. The beers they make on premise are solid and on point. I only wish they could expand the selection. Their small personal pizzas are worth every penny. With all the new apartments going up in the area, I'm sure this will become a well-established neighborhood pub. Unfortunately, the one negative is that at the time of check out, the infamous "how much do you want to tip" screen pops up with at least a 25% minimum when you pay by credit card. That really bothers me considering this is a self service establishment. This has become one of my favorite spots on the east side. I've gotten into the habit of stopping in after the gym for a nice relaxing couple of pints while reading a book. On the Sunday afternoons I've been frequenting this place, the parking is ample and the space is populated but not crowded. I love the diversity of their brews and the frequency with which they change. I've been very happy with the quality and friendliness of service. I think their price-point is spot on for both the brews and the food. I've recently fallen in love with their Caesar salad. It's absolutely delicious and I love the home-made dressing. This will be one of my go-to spots for the foreseeable future and one that I look forward to sharing with my friends. I highly recommend the Bada Bing pizza (meatball) if you love cracker-thin crusts like I do. They always have a fun variety of beer. I've recently enjoyed their Foeder style beers. They also have a nice selection of hazy IPAs right now that show good variations of the style. Okay... My oldest son is getting married in November of this year. My wife and I asked him to set up a lunch meeting in Austin so that we could meet his future in laws. He chose Oddwood. I'm not sure it was the best choice, since his future 98-year-old grandmother in law was coming, as well as his mother who does not drink beer. My son, his lovely fiance, both of her parents, and I are craft beer lovers, so I'm thinking that was his motivation. He also picked a late afternoon time and somehow failed to communicate to his future in-laws that this was to be a MEAL! Let's move on. Since I had driven up from San Antonio and knew I would be driving back after "lunch", I opted for a flight so that I could try four of the beers. I liked all four of the beers I selected, and would have loved to have had one or two more full size glasses of the last one, Yule Boi. It was an imperial coffee porter that was definitely in the top ten of my favorite porters list. I had a margherita pizza for my meal. My son, who placed my order, told me they were shocked when he asked for them to put anchovies on it. What can I say? I like anchovies on my pizza and don't always want to settle for a plain cheese pizza to put them on. The crust was super thin. I usually like that, if it is crisp. This one was super limp and soggy. I don't know if it sat too long before they brought it out, or if that is just how their pizzas are. It tasted great, though. Everyone else had salads. My wife said hers was just "okay". I liked the rustic atmosphere of the place. They have a big screen in the middle where people where playing video games. Some of them were really shouting loud while playing- just like both of my sons always did at home. It didn't bother me, but I was too in to meeting the future in-laws. Oh, by the way, Grandma had a beer. I don't know how much she liked it. After we had been there for about two hours, she asked if anyone wanted to finish it. I lived so close to this place for a good minute and somehow didn't know about it. Thanks to a friend celebrating her birthday there, I got to finally hang out here. Brewery, bar, and pizza joint all rolled into one. The drink options are pretty legit. I highly recommend the Yule Boi, Imperial Breakfast Porter. It's a whole mood. Came with a few friends and we enjoyed some beers and arcade games in some wooden cabin vibes. Pro Tip: They also have stickers!! And rad merch. It's great for a chill group hangout, we had over ten people in our hangout. We also saw lots of people here in smaller groups or casual dates, so Oddwood is great for all group sizes. We came during a popular time, so we didn't get the chance to get a table. However, we just took over the little den area with PacMan and the TV-to-console games. I didn't order any food, but some of our folks did. I enjoyed two beers here. Both were the IPAs, the Emerald Hill and one that I forgot the name of. Full of hops and juicy tastes. We came during some cold weather, so none of us were outdoors. It seems super fun during the summer when you can bring your dogs and just hang out in the sun. They have food, a sufficient but quick-to-fill-up parking lot, and clean restrooms. The best part is obviously the arcade games (ALL FREE), especially the super old games that were hooked up to TVs. I'm not a gamer, but I can appreciate a fun game of PacMan! I liked the warm cabin aesthetic, but wasn't entirely blown out of the water by the beer selections. I'm just a picky beer brat, but I would have appreciated more wheat and diversity in choice. There were a good amount of sours and barrel aged beers that fermentation lovers would gush over. I WISH this was a joke because pregnancy in triple digits is a risk as it is. Plus, they turn me down for a simple request -- 24 oz of water -- AND turn off the misters? Forget it. Waited 2+ hours for BBQ outside, where it's 101, and feels like 103°. I walked in and asked the bartenders for a beer glass of water -- and the bartenders inside turned down my request. The bartender really told me, "Sorry we're low on beer glasses, you can get water over there" and points to the water cups, which are 8 and 10 oz. Oddwood Ales has always been one of my favorite places, but todays visit left something to be desired. It wasn't busy, but all of the empty tables outside were dirty. We cleaned our own table outside and relocated inside. We grabbed plates for our pizza and those were also dirty. Service was non existent. This is disappointing to me as it's never been this way before. The food also wasn't as good as it's been in the past. Not sure if there's been change in management or cooks, but changes need to be made. I want Oddwood to succeed, but I am leaving feeling like I personally would never come back. read more
