My aunt loves this place so she suggested we go here as my parents were visiting from out of town. It's located right off of I-75 on West Paces Ferry Road. There was a short wait time to be seated. We were seated right in front of the money tree and the old Georgia flag. The old Georgia flag has the Confederate flag in its old design. Moving back to Atlanta from DC has been a challenge culturally on many levels as the DMV is a much more progressive area all the way around. That flag represents the flag of losers, traitors to the United States, slavery and white supremacy. I don't understand how black people can continually support this restaurant after seeing that flag but my review is based solely on the food and service. Came across the OK Cafe several years ago from a book "Along I-75" that highlights great places to stop while road tripping on I-75. It has become a family tradition to stop for dinner/lunch during family trips from Michigan to Florida. The OK Cafe has great service, great food, and makes for a nice stop for some Southern Goodness. The food is served hot and FAST. Order an appetizer of fried pickles, and they are are at your table in minutes - tasty finger food to go with your drinks. Every server we have ever had, has clearly made this a profession and passion. Very polite - yes ma'am, yes sir (maybe it is just the South), quick to keep your water/soda filled. They are not overbearing, but ALWAYS there/frequently if you need anything. Recent stop: Small, but good selection of local beer. (recommend the Red Brick Hoplanta IPA, very tasty) Mac and cheese side dish is delicious - very cheesy home style Burgers are all very good, we have had several. My Husband and I just recently dined here. Our server's name was Joey and she was as sweet as pie. Hubby has the meatloaf with creole sauce, cabbage and black eyed peas. The cabbage was very bland, but the black eyed peas were phenomenal. The meatloaf was different and interestingly enough it was really good. Hubby's food gets 4 stars. I had the turkey and dressing with macaroni and collards. The macaroni was a hit and the collards were perfect (not like my mom's...but close). The turkey and dressing was just OK (no pun intended). I definitely wouldn't recommend it. B/c of the turkey and dressing, I would give this dish 3 stars. The OK Cafe is a 60's Diner with great friendly service that serves a menu of southern comfort food! I ordered the thick pork chop with the bone in that was grilled to perfection that had a blended seasoned rub to enhance the flavor. The dinner came with two sides and I ordered the fresh green beans and the triple cheesed Mac-n-cheese. All meals are served with a delicious corn muffin that have corn kernels in the batter. On my next visit, I want to try the Chicken Pot Pie or the Chicken Fried Steak both dishes looked awesome that were served to other guests. The restaurant offers takeout to that includes: Fried chicken, pulled pork, roasted turkey, chicken pot pie, a salad bar with a large selection of cold salads, along with a multiple variety of vegetables. The also offer cookies, cakes and slices of cake, as well as banana bread pudding with rum sauce which was a tasty treat that I indulged into end a great "home cooked" meal. Loved the fact that I could get a CF steak, eggs, nice white gravy(or brown), delicious bisquit, and I added some collard greens. Oh yeah. Everything was on point. I've been to OK Cafe at least four times now and they are CONSISTENT! Even on days when they're busy, wait times are always super reasonable and they often seat you faster than predicted. The servers are always incredibly helpful and friendly, and they come by to check on you often. The food comes out so fast, sometimes we don't even get the chance to finish our appetizer before our meals come! We always order off the Blue Plate Specials menu that they give out during dinner hours. We haven't tried their breakfast yet but we're hoping to soon! I get the pot roast, my best friend gets the turkey dinner with cornbread dressing, and we've also tried the country fried steak and the pot pie as well. IT WAS ALL DELICIOUS. IT IS ALWAYS DELICIOUS. My favorite joint in Atlanta! The food is consistently good, well prepared with fresh ingredients and the ambience by itself worth a visit. OK cafe, around for decades, is a staple of Atlanta and sets you back in time! Offering a wide variety of southern food, they also have a takeout buffet bar (pay by weight) in the back as well as a milkshake bar. Wait was long for a party of our size (11 adults), especially when they refuse to seat until everyone is present. And in the end? everyone was still sat at 2 different tables, not even next to each other. The best advice the manager had to offer was: "I've seen 12 ppl squeezed into this table (the larger one) but they weren't real comfortable". Like seriously, wtf? Service past that point was ok, friendly for the most part and helpful, although I did have to ask for a refill. The food was brought out by other staff who didn't know who ordered what. The food itself was passable, with the sides possibly being better than the main entrees. My turkey avocado BLT was pretty good, but the gf's turkey and dressing only looked so-so. Overall tab came out to over $30 before tax & tip, which for comfort food is way high in my book. I just wish they were still open 24 hours like back in the old days when everything was "OK 24 Hours A Day". I especially enjoy their veggies and chocolate shakes/malts. (Particularly the baked sweet potatoes and collards.) The turkey & dressing and pot roast are also favorites. I went here with my bf a few weeks ago for dinner. The minute I walked in, I felt like I had traveled back in time. The wait staff were dressed in outfits from the older days and the interior was filled in things from the past. The place was hopping but we managed to get a table for two by the window right away. I had the meatloaf topped with creole sauce, mac & cheese, collard greens, and a corn muffin. I have to say that I wasn't thrilled about the meatloaf. It was just ok to me. Nothing wrong with it but nothing special either. The mac & cheese was heavy with lots of cream and cheese..and mushy, which isn't my jam. The rest of my plate, however, was delicious. Collard greens were seasoned and cooked to perfection. The corn muffin was made perfectly too. On our way out, we also grabbed a couple of rice crispy treats for dessert. I visited the OK Cafe on Sunday with a friend. This is a popular place, and the wait times can be a little discouraging. The exterior sign said 20 minute wait time, but we waited close to 30 minutes for a table. On Sundays, they serve breakfast from 7 to 11 and brunch from 11 to 2. I ordered a ham and cheese omelette. It had an adequate amount of ham but not quite enough cheese. The grits on the side were rich and creamy. The toast was a little dry at first, but then I realized that they have butter packs on the table. The service was good. Our server was very attentive throughout the meal, but she disappeared near the end when I needed another refill. It's a fun place with a lot of character. I'll definitely be back. read more

Ate here for dinner while visiting family in ATL...loved it!! Cozy, comfy ambiance with interesting things to look at, friendly service, and dang good grub! I ordered the turkey with dressing, with mac n' cheese and squash casserole on the side. I cleaned my plate. Everything was riddiicccculously tasty. My husband loved his chicken fried steak, which was pretty enormous. We got a cup of the pot-likker (the liquid left behind after you cook collard greens) to share on the side...this was my first exposure to this very tasty side dish, and I for one am a fan! Great for dunking corn bread. We shared chocolate cake a chocolate malt for dessert. The malt was delicious. The chocolate cake was not my favorite- it was VERY dense- almost more like a brownie consistency? While I really, truly enjoyed OK Cafe, I have to withhold the 5th star, because this place is kind of insanely expensive. It's supposed to be a diner, right? For three adults- that's three dinner plates, 3 drinks, a piece of cake, and a malt- our check was $68 before tip. OUCH. I don't live in Atlanta, so it's not as if I will be able to eat here frequently enough for it to be an issue, but if I did live in ATL, I would have to limit my visits to the OK Cafe for this reason alone :-( Otherwise, totally enjoyable!! read more

If you find yourself on this side of Atlanta be sure to check out the OK Cafe. This is somewhat nicer and little more expensive than your typical meat & three but oh man is the food awesome. While the meat choices are good, the veggies are really the star of the show. The squash casserole is simply amazing and must be tried regardless of what else you order. IMHO, the squash casserole goes with anything and everything. I did not try the milkshakes but they must be fantastic as it appeared that 1 out of every 3 tables had shakes. It did not matter the age of the guess since it looked like people from 9-90 were enjoying the frozen treats. read more

We rolled up the the O-K-C at about 9:45pm, got seated right away, greeted by our sweet-as-fresh-peach-pie server who brought us our diet cokes (with lemon!) and almost immediately after that, our pickle chips (seriously, get the pickle chips... delish!) I've only ever ordered the BLT, which is incredible... I was also eyeballing Shawn R's Grilled cheese... if he'd have turned his head, that baby woulda been mine (insert diabolical laughter here).
