Tried the tantanmen, shoyu ramen, and panna cotta. Everything was decent overall. The shoyu ramen was a little spicy for my taste, but that's my preference since I can't handle spice well. Nice presentation and atmosphere.

I didn't realize that I've been to the Brooklyn counterpart before, but for whatever reason I didn't enjoy this experience as much. It was still a good experience but the Brooklyn one for whatever was 5 stars for me even though it was a much smaller place + restrooms were meh. So we were a table of 3 and absolutely recommend getting a reservation because it was packed. They have a crate at the bottom of the table for your bag which was very thoughtful. I don't remember the name of the set that I got but I was having stomach issues so opted for something without raw fish. The meal was beautifully presented and service was good, but since I've experienced this once before at their other location I think the appeal wasn't really there for me anymore. The restroom was great though! So if you're trying it for the first time I would highly recommend this location but if it's a concept that you've tried before I'm not sure that it'll be too memorable for you.

A Serene, Authentic Japanese Breakfast Experience If you want a break from the typical heavy New York brunch, Okonomi // Yuji Ramen is a breath of fresh air. This was my first time visiting, and I was blown away by their traditional Japanese breakfast set (Ichiju Sansai). We made sure to arrive early, and we were seated immediately with no wait at all. The Meal: The concept is simple but executed perfectly. You get a set that includes a bowl of multi-grain rice, miso soup, a seasonal vegetable side, and an egg. The star, however, is the roasted fish. * The Fish: You can choose your protein from the daily selection. We went with two sets--the Monkfish and the Perch. Both were roasted to perfection with incredibly crispy skin and tender, flaky meat. You can tell they source high-quality seafood. * Healthy & Balanced: It's a "nice and healthy" breakfast that leaves you feeling energized rather than weighed down. Every component is balanced, from the savory miso to the bright pickles. The Vibe: The space is small and intimate, which only adds to the charm. It feels like you've stepped into a quiet kitchen in Japan. It's a peaceful, minimal setting that is perfect for a calm morning. The Verdict: This is easily one of the most unique and high-quality breakfast spots in Brooklyn. The attention to detail is 10/10. Just a heads up--once the breakfast service ends, they transition into Yuji Ramen, but the morning set is something you absolutely have to try at least once!

I was craving for Japanese breakfast so when I tried to find a place/restaurant which served Japanese Breakfast, Okonomi came up as one of the place who served it. The restaurant is small but they maximize the space. It's cozy but a bit too noisy I must say. The presentation of Yakizakana set was cute and modern. The tea was already included. We loved the Umaki (appetizer) very much, as for the set, it was ok. I prefer the old fashion/authentic Japanese breakfast. The service was good, friendly and patiently explaining the menu when we didn't understand.

This is a place of serenity in the hustle and bustle of NOMAD. The breakfast set with the roasted fish and the onsen egg, is so reminiscent of our vacation in Japan. The fish was roasted to perfection and wonderfully tasty. I am so happy we found this little gem of a place. Service was thoughtful and friendly. We will definitely be back.

Good overall, but the breakfast set was a bit of a letdown compared to the chirashi. Ambience (4/5): Small, intimate space with a relaxed, neighborhood vibe. Food (3/5): Chirashi is fresh and well-balanced, though the breakfast set feels pretty average. The side dishes was just average. Value (3/5): Reasonable pricing for quality fish, but the breakfast set doesn't quite deliver. Service (4/5): Attentive and welcoming, making the experience smooth and pleasant.

When I travel, I love finding unique breakfast spots, and discovering a traditional Japanese breakfast within walking distance of my hotel was exactly what I was looking for. The décor matched what I'd expect for this style of restaurant, and at this early hour, it was pleasantly quiet. My server was friendly and attentive, seating me right away and serving a perfectly brewed cup of cold barley tea. I ordered the yakizakana set with salmon, though I was definitely tempted by the ramen and other breakfast options. The food arrived quickly, beautifully presented, and each bite was more delicious than the last. The salmon was especially well-marinated, perfectly cooked, and moist--not at all dry. I'm already looking forward to returning on a future trip to try more of their dishes.

Good for solo dining (at the bar) or in groups of 2-4-6. You can do walk in or reserve via Resy, but for walk in it might be easier for parties of 1. They offer traditional Japanese breakfast along with ramen. There's a spicy add-on option that isn't offered via the menu. Staff is friendly and accommodating.

This is a very sleek and comfy Japanese breakfast spot with set meals and ramen. I Came here on a weekday morning with a party of three. No wait as expected. We were greeted with cold barley tea upon seating. The hamachi kama with gosai (5 sides) was amazing! The hamachi kama was perfectly roasted and seasoned. The flesh was tender and fall off the bone, and skin was briny and crispy. I really enjoyed the 5 sides as well, they all tasted very well thought-out and crafted. I especially liked the yuzu marinated radishes, the sesame miso sauce on the asparagus, and unique tofu sauce with cherry tomatoes. I will note that my friend got the roasted salmon gosai set meal and the salmon was quite small - good for someone with a smaller appetite.

A taste of Japan. The set breakfast is a must try here. Service was excellent there was only one server when we went and we were taken care of. Ambiance was calm and chill. A great place for single diners too.

While planning meals for my NY trip I found Japanese breakfast on Yelp. My son and I decided to give it a try. I didn't make a reservation for Friday morning but we got in without issues. They give you hot tea when you sit. It's a small menu with great options. Started with the umaki as an app. My son did the unagi set with 3 sides. I wanted to order the breakfast ramen special but I did the kamayaki set with 3 sides. They both included miso soup as well and rice. My dish was a fish collar. It was a filling meal since we had an app too. Everything was delicious and comforting. Service was nice. I highly recommend this Japanese breakfast experience.

While quite pricey, the traditional breakfast here is so fun! I can't tell you if it's the best of its kind in NYC since this is my first time having it, but it's worth trying once. Make a resy for weekend brunch because the place is tiny. I got ichiju gosai (large set) with tile fish - other option was salmon, but I think it varies by day. The tile fish was cooked perfectly; the other sides were delicious, especially the tamagoyaki and the carrot/cucumber salad which was sweetly fragranced. I recommend adding on the poached egg and mixing with your rice. The ikura is a nice addition too but you could go without. We were also served complementary green tea. Only two people were staffing the restaurant but wait times weren't long. The ceramics they use (plates/bowls/cups) are all so adorable and I want them in my kitchen! Post tax and tip I paid $55. Kind of a lot... but I would rather fork out for this than a steeply priced eggs benny or avo toast elsewhere. Will probably be back!

Came for lunch with a friend on a weekday and there was no wait. Fishy smell inside but really good food. Bacon egg mazemen was the highlight and not to be missed. Also really enjoyed the Okonomi shoyu ramen (fish based ramen).

I usually order spicy ramen at most ramen spots, so that's what I went with my first time here. Big mistake. The spicy ramen really takes away from the depth of flavor. If you actually want to appreciate the broth, the classic ramen is the way to go. You can always add spicy oil yourself. A few things could definitely be improved. For an upscale ramen spot in the heart of NYC, I was surprised the tap water was straight-up lukewarm. Nobody wants lukewarm water after eating a piping-hot bowl of ramen. I'd also avoid the bar seating if you can. The seats aren't very comfortable, especially if your back tends to get tight from sitting hunched over. Another small but surprisingly annoying issue is the front door, it doesn't have a slow-close mechanism, so it's constantly slamming shut. Depending on where you're sitting, it can get pretty loud and distracting while you're trying to eat. On the positive side, the service was great. The staff was attentive, and the food came out incredibly quickly after ordering, which I really appreciated. The ambiance definitely fits the upscale NYC ramen vibe without feeling overly fancy. You don't need to dress up, casual clothes are completely fine. I'll definitely be back, classic ramen next time, no question.

Every meal I had from the chicken baos to my ramen was jaw dropping. I wish I could just snap my fingers and have their ramen right in front of me. You know a soul is delicious when you don't have to add extra sauces or spices. It's a tight place so not the best for large parties. However the decorations and overall feel of the place is welcoming. I will say, the drinks too a bit long to come out and they were super expensive. One drink was $20 I believe. Which is more than the ramen itself haha I wouldn't go here for drinks cause you'll end up spending a ton of money. We started with the pork belly appetizer which was recommended and stated on the menu indicating it's their featured dish. It was the biggest disappointment as it was extremely fatty with large chunks of fat, while the lean portions were dry. It didn't look very appetizing. The dumplings were just okay--they had decent flavor but I was hoping for a crispier texture. I ordered the Zebra Ramen. The noodles were cooked perfectly al dente, but the broth was much saltier than I would have preferred. The pat of butter felt unnecessary and made the broth overly rich without adding much depth. The chashu was on the small side and also quite fatty and I assume it's the same as the appetizer but was sliced instead of in large chunks. The marinated egg had good flavor, although the yolk was a little more cooked than I typically like. Another thing is the pork belly appetizer came with an egg. I wish the server would tell us so we didn't have to add it to our ramen with an extra charge. The nori was also completely soggy by the time it reached our table. Overall, the noodles were the only highlight of the meal and the rest were very underwhelming. It's definitely not a place I would recommend.

The bowl comes loaded: tender shredded chicken, seared chashu, marinated soft-boiled eggs, fresh scallions, bamboo shoots, and a sheet of nori that ties everything together. Every topping tastes intentional, not just filler. The texture balance is what really stands out fatty chashu that melts, shredded chicken with real flavor, and noodles that hold up beautifully in the broth.
