Went last week with a large group and had a great time! Loved the atmosphere, servers were great and so were the drinks and food! We got the calamari appetizer, which everyone was very happy with. We ordered an appetizer 45 minutes ago and it still hasn't arrived. HORRIBLE! Three of us ordered the Prime Rib Cheesesteak sub: The shaved prime rib was dry and scorched. There were 3 strips of green pepper; a few sautéed RED onion; found 1/2 of a mushroom on the entire sub; and the provolone slice was on the BOTTOM of the sandwich and almost non-existent. Shaved prime rib is NEVER dry and scorched. Never use RED onions. Chopped onions, green peppers, and mushroom slices are sautéed and then mixed with the meat. The provolone goes on top and there is usually an Au Jus for dipping -- NOT KETCHUP. Don't waste your $16 read more

For the vegans - they have a beyond burger, but unfortunately I was told that the bun was not vegan. You do get a side with the beyond burger, so I got the house salad and asked them to put the patty on top. You can choose between the balsamic or vinigaret. I didnt want to spend more money and get another side, so I didnt ask about the potatoes. Good service though. The waitress was nice and didn't seem to mind going back and asking the kitchen about anything. Just wish there were more options. read more

1st visit was thursday the day prior to their Grand opening. Ordered calamari. Over cooked not very good. Guy next to me ordered blacken tuna bites. They came not blackened. He was told they didn't have the correct spices . 2nd visit was Saturday after their grand opening. Pam ordered cob salad. They were out at 230 in then afternoon. Three grocery stores within 1 mile of then place and they can't make a cob salad. Tried to order 4 other meals and they were out. Really???? Bad management. Went back today form one more try. Philly cheese steak sandwich was good. Cup of she crab soup was ok, different, tasted like it had nutmeg in it. Chicken wrap ok. Beer selection not great. Mostly craft IPA, WHEATS. Parking is terrible. I wouldn't expect this place to last much more than a year or two. read more

Nice neighborhood vibe and the burgers are great, which is why we ate there recently. However, I was delivered a turkey burger upon ordering a Tavern Burger only to be told that the Tavern Burger is a turkey burger. Figuring they changed the menu and it was my fault, I ate it without complaint, but it wasn't what I wanted. When I got home, I pulled up the menu and the turkey is optional. Why did she ask me how I wanted it cooked if it was turkey? Guess if we eat there again I will have double check! read more

This was the second time we had been here. It was wing night so that's what he ordered. They looked good and were a nice size. He said they were good. I got the Tavern Burger medium with fries. Fries were good. Burger was over cooked and the bacon was burnt. Was going to let it go but just couldn't eat it. Waitress said they could remake it. Second one came out just as bad. No offer to remake it again or take it off the bill, even a discount. Never saw the manager the entire time we were there. Service was slow as well. Sad because we really want to like this place as we frequent local places as opposed to chains and it's not far from home. read more

Service was HORRENDOUS! The bartender (manager I'm told?) was so rude. Website says they don't close until 11pm on a Tuesday. A friend and I met at the bar for a beer at 8:30. By 9:00 the bartender turned anyone away who walked in the door stating "we're closing soon". Handed us our checks after 1 drink & basically kicked us out. Turned off the TVs, started mopping the floor (wtf?) and stared us down until we chugged our drinks and left. When I said "oh I'm sorry, your website says you close at 11", the bartender said "I'm not going to keep the place open for 2 customers". This guy needs to never work in customer service and I sure as hell won't be back to find out if he does. read more

Finally got around to trying the Old Beach Tavern for lunch today. There were maybe 20 patrons total in the restaurant. Although my southwest burger was very good and my wife's she crab soup was also good but her bowl was so small and shallow I'm sure a cup would have held more. So the food gets a good to very good rating but what can ruin the best food- extremely poor customer service. Took very long to get greeted and it took way too long to get our food then our Server forgot about our beverage reorder. read more

My first review was soon after they opened and it was not good. I have returned three times since and loved it. The food was excellent, crab cake was all crab no filler, and just the right amount of spices. The prime rib sandwich, out of this world. My son had spicy chicken wings and said they are the best he has ever had. One evening I met a friend for drinks and appetizers, the live music was the best I have heard in a long time. Not sure of his name but it was a Tuesday night and he was just filling in. The acoustics were fantastic, I could enjoy my conversation while he was singing. The tables are cleaned immediately, the staff works well together, our server Lee was exceptional as was the bus boy and blonde curly hostess. She found out what bands would be playing and explained how the vegetables are cooked. Excellent team work. This place will be a success! read more

Been a customer of Old Beach Tavern since a couple of days before their Grand Opening, which was the kind of opening nobody likes. It's a disaster when several chefs and kitchen help walk out on any night. It shows that management has been in an ongoing process of improving. Replacing staff, training, and standardizing food preparation and recipes. The improvements are noticeable and welcomed. One of the first things I ate 3 weeks ago was a BLT, very disappointing, didn't think I'd eat one there ever again. I've eaten lunch or dinner there several times in the last two weeks and have seen major improvements so I decided to give their BBBLT a try. Wow! Generous slab of ripe tomato, dark green lettuce overflowing the toast and a huge pile of bacon with a slather of mayo. Definitely now one of my favorites. So, I can now add the BBBLT to the Shrimp Dinner and excellent burgers fixed almost any way you like to a growing list of favorites. Today the couple next to me raved about the sliders. Guess that's coming soon to my plate. The excellent selection of local beers on tap adds to the widening variety of yummy menu items. It is very obvious that the kitchen is using top quality products to prepare some very delicious meals. I'm already looking forward to my next visit and a cold glass of Devil's Backbone Vienna Lager. read more

I love this place and i LOVE the bartended ERIC. He is outstanding! Super fast, very friendly, lots of smiles, and wonderful! The bar manager, ERIN, not so much. We walked in, she never acknowledged ua AT ALL, never smiled, we wanted champagne and she said "we have it but its not on the menu and so it isnt chilled". I said I did not care and that we would take it on ice. She said very adamantly "ITS NOT ON THE MENU". We were completely taken aback by her stern, harsh response. It is a shame. The food is OUTSTANDING, the bartender ERIC Is probably one of the best in the area, but the bar manager is offensive. Meanwhile the manager sat directly across at the bar on his laptop and never said a WORD! Seriously? Why would that be with a BRAND NEW spot!? We have also been here several times but never when the bar manager has been present. There is NO reason to treat customers as though you are in some power and control position. The amount of self congratulations, the preening over the corrupt crony politicians at their ribbon cutting, the faux 'old beach' name, their wanna be hipster kinda vibe, it's all just a tragic disappointment. Food service, institutional tasting, Sysco heat and eat food, ridiculously poor service, overly chipper wait staff that focus on socializing, rather than the work of serving. Another soulless, cavernous beer hall, half assing the food,totally neglecting service, and banking on beer and booze. They'll be closed in six months or less unless they knuckle down and figure out their problems. I was so embarrassed for my friend that invited me to join them here. We sat with empty glasses, hoping for a bit more water, picking at our mediocre, rubbery prime rib, trying to hear each other in this echo chamber of a cement cavern. There's many less pretentious places to get a good meal. Drive on by, the parking lot is even worse than the food. You'll be glad you went ANYWHERE else. read more

The parking sucks. Let's get that out of the way. The lot needs to be re-striped so that cars entering from the easy opening aren't immediately going in the wrong direction. Gang and I were looking for a new spot for Wine Wednesdays after our long-time place stopped carrying a decent, inexpensive white wine. Old Beach Tavern met the basic requirements of the group: central location and they serve wine. Upon entering I was shocked at the interior. I was expecting a typical strip mall, Formica-topped tabled, ratty carpet joint. This place rocks in terms of space and style. There is a combination of tables and booths, with some high-top tables near the pool tables tucked in the corner. Table are wood-topped and quite nice. The wait staff--Jessica on this night--was great. We were there on a Wednesday for Happy Hour, which included $2 off apps and most (if not all) drinks. I can't remember the specifics of the drink specials because we were focused on the 1/2 off bottles of wine deal! Praise All Things Holy! The wine was good and priced well! I ordered pretzel bites off the appetizer menu. I'll start by saying these were long pretzel loaf (not right word, but you get the idea) and not bites, but it didn't matter. They were deliciously crunchy on the outside and soft and chewy inside; very tasty. They came with a side of beer-cheese sauce. Note to kitchen: it was tasty but had separated. My companion had the chicken tacos, which she said were awesome. I don't write many reviews, and this one is long, but after reading the multitude of negative reviews, I had to offer a different view. They have been opened nine weeks and are still tweaking and refining. Give it another chance! Leave your oversized SUVs and jacked up pick ups at home, though, because you know...parking. read more

I went here with a friend during a weekday happy hour. We got there at 6 and were one out of three occupied tables. The rest of the customers were around the bar. It's a pretty large space, and there's enough room between the tables and the booths that you wouldn't have to nudge up against somebody if you had to walk to the restroom. Our waiter came over immediately to take our drink order and we each ordered a glass of wine ($2 off from 4 to 7). When he brought our wine, he asked if we were ready to place our food order but we asked if we could have another couple of minutes to decide. Well, his definition of "a couple of minutes" differed quite a bit from our definition. Fifteen minutes later, after my friend and I had made an obvious show of looking around for our waiter, and after every employee had ignored our obvious display, I went to the host/hostess stand to ask if our waiter could be found, as we had been waiting to place our order. That got him over to our table in a flash. We ordered the crab dip, a crab cake sandwich with fries, and a dozen wings (with 6 Parmesan garlic and 6 BBQ). I didn't like the crab dip much because I thought it was too salty, and my friend didn't like it much because it was too dry. We only ate about half of it. It kills me to leave crab meat on the plate, but that's the way it is. The crab cake sandwich (which I got fried) was unremarkable except for one thing -- the tomato slice was the palest tomato slice I've ever seen. Paler than the tomatoes you get in the grocery store in January. This in a place whose website says "we refuse to compromise on quality in our restaurant". Well, I guess if you look at it one way, a pale, anemic tomato slice in August in a city that houses several local farms wouldn't be a compromise in quality -- it would just be a total fail. The crab cake itself was a bit undersized for the bun, and on the dense side (read: too much filler). The wings were good sized and tender, and the two sauces were both tasty. We already knew about the $2 off glasses of wine from reading yelp reviews, but didn't find out until we got the check at the end of the meal that appetizers are also $2 off during happy hour. If our waiter had told us that, we would have ordered exclusively from the appetizer menu. Between the inattentive staff and the lackluster food, I'm guessing we won't be back. read more

It's been an hour and a half since we ordered our food finally I asked the waitress to make it to go and we're still here waiting ... just got a saggy salad and my steak after 1 hour an 50 minutes. The best part of our experience was the asparagus Arrived and had difficulty parking in the small lot at 6:30 pm. Yet when we entered there were 1/2 dozen empty table. Our server was prompt and delivered our drinks, beer and wine. We ordered our food after 15 minutes and it took nearly an hour to prepare and serve average tasting sandwiches served on cold, stale buns. The server came by several times during the wait and also checked with the kitchen. When asking were was our food. We were told that if you come before 4 pm the food is served promptly. This tavern has been open about one month, surely enough time to get the kitchen working. We expressed our dissatisfaction to our server, yet no manager came by. The server discounted our meals, which was appropriate and appreciated. I regret the experience as we were eagerly looking forward to trying the Old Beach Tavern out with our friends. Sorry to say we will not be returning until such time as the reviews indicate they have fixed the kitchen problems. If you are having only beer and drinks it is a good place to go. read more

This past Sunday night I called to place an order for takeout at 8:42pm. The woman I spoke with told me she couldn't take me order because their kitchen is closed. I told her that the website says they are open until 11pm, so I don't understand why the kitchen was already closed. She told me that the website is wrong and they don't have any control over it. I advised her that they can fix it and she proceeded to argue with me repeating that they can't. I explained to her I work at a fine dinning restaurant and we had issues with our closing hours not being correct online and my manager fixed it. She again said they can't fix it, called me a BITCH, then hung up on me. Completely unacceptable!! I've never ate here before and now because of the unprofessionalism and rudeness, I probably never will give this place a second thought. The woman on the phone really shouldn't be answering and speaking to guests if she can't control her words. I don't know if it was the host, a server, or the manager that I talked to. Regardless, I think management might want to know how this woman speaks to people. read more

Great environment but unreasonably long wait for the food as it was practically empty. The calamari was perfectly cooked and I loved the seasoned fries. I'm a bit surprised at the pricing for the area and the portions. However, it was a bit disappointing that I ordered a marinated grilled chicken breast dinner with 2 sides and was served a grilled chicken sandwich. When I brought it up to the server that the food was incorrect, she insisted that she did key it in as a grilled chicken dinner. This left me to believe that either she didn't know what food she was serving and/or the expo professional didn't either. The other awkward thing about this establishment was that we were seated at a bar height table with an infant in a high chair. So when we went to feed our daughter, she couldn't grab her food as she couldn't even reach the tabletop or see her food. Other than the fries and the calamari, the restaurant has a bit of wrinkles to iron out and hopefully will invest in some team education and training. Good luck in the future! read more

Read about this restaurant in the Pilot so we decided to check it out. There were five of us dining. We ordered burgers, a Caesar salad and a wrap. Not difficult entrees. We waited an hour for our food. The waitress apologized numerous times for the delay of our food, even before we started inquiring about when it would be out. She brought us out a small plate of fries (in which we were charged for by mistake) to try and make up for the long food wait. The waitress told us since the restaurant was new, they were trying to figure it all out. That is truly understandable but still not acceptable. The waitress felt bad and it was in no means her fault that our meals took an hour- when our meals finally came out, the food was nothing that would make me go back for. The Caesar salad was small and had no Caesar dressing on it, even though we asked the waitress to bring dressing for it. She forgot because I think she was so flustered with everything- the burger portion was satisfactory but there were about 10 fries on each of our plates. We asked for more fries and our waitress brought more out. The parking was annoying as we couldn't find a spot. We ended up parking in the insurance lot next door but only after asking the owner if it was okay to do so. We spent $80 and we could've went to Five Guys for half of that. read more

Hey look I wanna like this place more, it's a 5 minute drive from my house. As others have said, really nice place, the atmosphere is awesome. However it's in my humble opinion that they need an executive chef and this would be easily the most popular restaurant on the Blvd. Be something different, tacos, steak, tuna bite, wings, all sub par.
