We've eaten at the Little Euro and Old European in the past, so when visiting the East side of Spokane decided to eat here for breakfast since it was the closest. We had a party of seven and they did a great job accommodating our group and seating us quickly, even though it was a busy Sunday morning. Although the menu is similar, it's not owned by the same people who run the other Spokane locations and items with the same name aren't prepared the same. The food here was good, but left me feeling somewhat underwhelmed after I was expecting what I had previously eaten at the Division St restaurant. They have the same stuff - fresh squeezed orange juice, abelskivers, potato pancakes, Austrian coffee - just slightly not as good. The price was reasonable for a party of our size. read more

This was my husband and my 2nd time coming to the European restaurant. what a difference. We arrived shortly after 8 am and they were not very busy. Once we were seated, we waited for over 5minutes just to see if our server would appear. plenty of servers clearing tables and walking past is without even acknowledging our presence. Best breakfast in CDA/Post Falls. In the top three if you add Spokane. It's the details - from the personal French press coffee to the employee stories and of course the Aebleskivers. This place is uniquely wonderful! Side note: Don't confuse this Old European with the one up on North Division in Spokane. The Post Falls one is quite a bit better. read more

Our waitress dumped an entire hot coffee with whipped cream on me that left my shirt and pants soaked. The waitress apologized and they made sure I was ok. As much as it sucked having hot coffee dumped on me and having to sit through breakfast with my clothes wet, I was very understanding as accidents happen. This is a very clean establishment. I haven't been here in several years. I was disappointed in the crepes. I know they used to put a strawberry sauce over the crepes. Here's the thing....I usually give a restaurant at least two bites at the apple just in case the cooks are having a bad day or someone called in sick or some other unforseen issue. However, this place goes on the do not return list after the first visit because it made me sick to my stomach. A Prilosec took care of it, but that shouldn't be a dessert item. My expectation was European food this was more like Denny's gone bad. I had ham and eggs and a Dutchbaby. No problem with ham and eggs. I guess the Dutchbaby was their own version, but it wasnt what I had expected. This thing was as dense as a brownie and smothered in whipped cream and a sugary sauce. Just not good. They were playing 50's drive in diner music, again not a big deal if the food was good, but it wasn't, at least not what I had. The service was good, front of the house staff was effeciant and frendly. They got the food out in a reasonable amount of time, but just not good. Bring your favorite antacid. Not to be to grumpy about the place, but it wasn't exactly inexpensive either $20 for all of that heartburn, if it was half that price where it should have been I wouldnt be wasting my time writing this, but since I'm sitting in my room with an upset stomach because of them I got time on my hands, so here it is. Just can't figure how it doesn't have 5 stars overall rating. I had a breakfast that I could not have made better at home myself. And I'm damn good at breakfasts. My first visit ever to an Old European and it won't be my last. Place is very clean and attractive. As are the lovely gals who attentively take care of every need you may have. Coffee comes to the table in an insulated carafe. Hot and delicious. A sample of their breakfast aebleskivers also came and They are very good ball shaped pancake things. Very good! I decided against trying any of the specialty stuff they create. Just the basic bacon, of course, eggs and pancakes this time. Everything arrived perfect. I licked the last bit of syrup off the plate when done! I am now looking forward to trying some of their creations from the old country. This place is amazing!! We stopped here for breakfast while on vacation one day. It was so good we had to go back the next day! The pancake sampler platter is incredible, as is the goulash and cinnamon rolls. The kids animal pancakes are a huge hit. The fresh squeezed orange juice and lemonade will make you never want to purchase store-bought ever again. It seems like a family owned and operated business, and the staff is very attentive, extremely friendly, and rightfully proud of their workplace. This is a great place for families, and kids of all ages will find a wonderful selection from the menu. Decided to do brunch this last Sunday and I have to say this place will most definitely be a weekly breakfast stop for our family. Super accommodating and quick to be seated even though they were swamped. Had great kids menus with coloring which was awesome! My husband ordered the eggs Benedict and he said it was the best he's ever had. My banana stuffed French toast was out of this world! Everything is made from scratch and you can totally tell, the difference in taste is insane. No where near Denny's. Our waitress even gave us a $5 gift card and free meat abelskievers. The people running Old European know what they are doing. I first experienced OE while a student at WSU in Pullman. It was THE breakfast place on weekends. So delicious. Always worth the wait. The fresh orange juice machine makes the best OJ. EVER. Abelskievers are delicious. The Hash, Poor Boys, Australia Coffee, are delicious. I was so happy when I moved to Spokane to find an OE on North Division. Life moved me 200 miles away from Spokane and OE. I was delighted to drive by the Post Falls, Idaho location on my way to Sandpoint. Now, it is our traditional last stop after our annual ski trip to Schweitzer Mountain. Very attentive and friendly servers. Wish every restaurant was as organized, efficient, and delicious as OE. read more

I am not sure how all of the Old European restaurants are associated, but as frequent patrons of the OE in north Spokane, my wife and I were decidedly impressed with the Post Falls location. We met with some family members there this weekend and enjoyed some great food, and even more impressive service. Our server (I wish I knew her name) was one of the best I have experienced in a long time. She was friendly, funny, and very attentive. She even brought a selection of Aebelskivers (some sweet, some savory) in addition to what we had already ordered. The food was plentiful and delicious and a good value. I couldn't think of a single way to improve our dining experience. It's not often we are in the Post Falls area for breakfast, but when we are, this will be our restaurant of choice. read more

SCRUMPTIOUS!! Excellent customer service and abelskivers make this place a "must" when you're in the Spokane area. We live in Prosser and have family in Idaho so we always stop in. Abelskivers are a round, fluffy, pancakeish taste sensation. They come plain, or filled with havarti and sausage or just sausage and have dipping sauces. They're a little smaller (1/3) than a tennis ball and depending on your appetite, could easily satisfy 2 people as a side dish. The place was packed on a Sunday on our last visit but breakfast arrived timely and our waitress was a doll. Coffee and ice water refills were prompt and plentiful. If you like thick, crispy bacon that's tender, this is DEFinitely the place! Their hash browns are crispy, brown on top and thickly grated. Had never been to the Old European before. Went on a Sunday around 10am. A bit of a wait but not too bad. Our waitress was very knowledgeable of the menu, great attitude and very attentive. We ordered the sausage and havarti stuffed Aebleskivers with a bowl of sausage gravy, European breakfast and French press coffee. Every single bite was perfect. We went last weekend for breakfast. We hadn't been back in a year or so. We thought we would give them another try. They had lots of staff and seemed very busy which gave us hope. The one thing I remember from our last visit was the amazing thick high quality bacon . I was very disappointed when my side of bacon came to the table and it was so thin and sitting in a pile of oil from a deep fryer. ( they also charged us almost $11 for 2 sides of thin cut greesy bacon) My eggs Benedict was not bad but the holindaise sauce tasted like Campbell's soup mix. The biggest dispointment was my hash browns. They were literally mashed potatoes. Not crispy, still white and barley cooked. When I showed the waitress who brought them to me she said yeah those don't look right. (I was then wondering why she didn't notice that when bringing them to me. ) She apologized and brought me more. Which looked the same , but now had a black hair through them. At that point I had lost my appetite. There was no offer to take my breakfast off of the bill. So I told her I think the bill should be adjusted. So the Manger took my hashbrowns off only. Not a good experience. Very dispointed in the way it was handled. My husband's food was not good as well. 4 gigantic dry biscuits and about a 1/4 of gravy. It looked rediculous and dry. I'm completely understanding about covid, short staff and problems getting foods in stock. But I think some dialog should happen. Like have you been here in a while? Just letting you know we've changed some food items on our menu. Or perhaps the manager should be more involved.. come to our table and show real concern at the quality of food instead of cowardly adjusting our bill and sending it back with the poor waitress. Had it been my restaurant I would have had someone remake the food properly and came out and apologized and showed real concern. My sister and I went to have breakfast together. We were seated quickly. My sister got the deep roast coffee. When it was set on the table the whip cream was melting and most of the cream ended up on the table. We ordered breakfast. We noticed that another customer who was seated after us got their breakfast first. My sister ordered a omelet and we could tell our food was left on a counter for awhile before we got our food. At one point my sister asked for a box to take our cinnamon roll home the waiter said he would bring them when were closer to finishing our meal. When were finished we were just talking and our waiter stopped by our table and asked to take care of our bill for us he never apologized for interrupting us the waiter never smiled at us he never asked us how our food was. my eggs were not over easy as i requested but when your hungry you eat the food in front of you. the cinnamon roll was the best part of the food read more
