Our favorite Taiwanese style bakery in the area. We love to come here for our special occasion cakes, their fresh buns, and steamed buns. They also sell sheets of the sponge cake with the crispy sheets in the middle (iykyk). I ordered my wedding cake, birthday cakes and fruit tarts here and my mom always respond with "not too sweet". Our family likes to get the mini fruit tarts from here for events because they are good, hence the 2 stars instead of 1, but the customer service is absolutely terrible. Called the phone number to place an order in advance and even called just before leaving the house to make sure the order was ready and the owner just said that if we called and placed the order for 11am pickup, it "should be" ready by then. I showed up at 11:20am, so order should definitely be ready and the lady at the front said it's not ready and needs another 20 minutes. Such a hidden gem in Temple city! Very traditional Taiwanese bakery. This bakery is very tight and small inside. It didn't seem very much, but they have a lot of stuff! The owner's friendliness gets you focus on the bread and the quality of the food. We were here to dine across street for a bday. So glad I picked up the mango cake on the way! How is it that I've lived in the area for over a decade and finally discovered this bakery? Located next to Super A market, this small bakery offers Taiwanese breads, buns & pastries, sometimes with a slight twist. It's small inside, and having a display table in the middle makes it even more tight to move around, but somehow it feels they have more choices than larger bakeries I've been to. Everything is made in-house, and they seem to have a lot of regular repeat customers where they all speak on friendly/ familiar tones. They have signage throughout the shop promoting but 5, get 1 free. With so many choices, that was easy to do. Coffee dried buttermilk bun: First time seeing this. Nice light coffee flavor with rich buttermilk crumple inside. Really good for my palate. Sponge cupcake: Very light, airy and very fine, meaning it's not full of air pockets like western style cakes. Flaky pork floss: Flaky square bum with pork floss inside, unlike all other bakeries where it's typically placed on top and held together with a layer of mayonnaise. This is lighter and better IMO. Custard bun: Soft and fresh, with dried buttermilk crumbles inside. Very good. Pineapple milky: It looks like a typical pineapple bun, but also has buttermilk inside. I like it a lot. It's like the rich, sweet filling that just brings extra enjoyment to my Asian carbs. Peanut bun: A sweet layer of cream and crushed peanuts on top. Great flavor and just the right amount of sweetness. Olympic Bakery seem to have their own variation on many popular bakery items, and they've done it right. We had wanted to order a pandan flavor birthday cake for my mom (a nod to our childhood annual same flavor birthday cakes). I called this bakery a day in advance and spoke to a guy who spoke very fast and aloof on the phone. I could tell he wasn't writing my order down on a piece of paper but he assured me the cake would be ready for pickup the following day at noon time. Got there the next day and sure enough they didn't have my order. They said to wait for ten minutes so they can make my cake. Ended up waiting for half an hour. And because of their delay and not having my cake order finished in advance, I forgot to remind them about the almonds we wanted on the cake. read more

We discovered this bakery through a vegan restaurant near us. They were carrying vegan pastries from Olympic Bakery. We loved the peanut butter cream bread and decided to try their other pastries & cakes out. We called the number before driving out to Temple and William answered us with a cheerful voice regarding our questions. We arrived at the store and it's your local mom and pop shop vibes. While at the store, he was very accommodating and considerate. He did not try to sell us anything and even encouraged us to look around other bakeries if we wanted. We loved that he did not try to persuasive us to place our wedding cake order with him right away. We tried their cake rolls and instantly knew that we're getting our wedding cake done here. And voila! They delivered and made the cake just as we wanted it. We ordered a sheet cake on the side for the guests' convenience. Everyone loved it! We will be placing an order again soon. I ordered a white chiffon cake with chocolate mousse and it lived up to my expectations. The cake is spongy, moist, very light and airy. While the chocolate mousse is a well-balanced, it's very flavorful, creamy, light, and not too sweet. I can make this type of cake at home but I am too lazy. Most bakeries uses a lot of flour instead of the egg whites. And here they actually use more of the egg whites (meringue), it tastes very delicious and fluffy!! I also go their espresso cream bun and Taiwanese pickles pork bun. All very delicious!!! The owner William is super friendly, enthusiastic and passionate about his craft, and it shows in the freshness and deliciousness of his cakes and other assorted pastries! Purchased a 6 inch strawberry cream cake and it just melted in my mouth. Incredibly fluffy and moist! Strawberries perfectly ripened and cream just the right amount of sweetness. I also ordered some sponge cake, and loved the way they tasted. The only critique I have for the baker is that I ended up biting into a small piece of eggshell, which kind of hurt my teeth a bit.
