This is a review for their rice pudding and creme brulee cheesecake: hands down the best desserts I've had in the USA in a long, long time (and I'm a baked goods fiend). The rice pudding brought back childhood memories of eastern Europe and the creme brulee cheesecake is in the same old world spirit: gently flavorful without trying to be too smart, light and foamy texture rather than the usual American dense brick, and no huge dose of sugar attempting to hide junk ingredients and processing. Both desserts were shockingly wonderful and I would recommend to anyone - if you have European or Middle Eastern tastes you will appreciate this unassuming bakery even more. I've been despairing at finding a bakery to feed my nostalgia ever since Mari Vanna closed in Los Angeles. (A Russian grandmother used to make the best legit custard layered pastry cake from scratch there.) This small place in Mountain View has filled a hole in my heart. It's in a nice spot for a person who loves to eat outdoors ( a little noisy as it is next to the train station). This place has the best cold brew coffee , I had mine with almond milk no sugar needed. I did not like their baklava it was okay.Their chicken burger was really good and for dessert their opera cake. Service was really good after we got our dinner we asked for extra ketchup and hot sauce the server gave us 2 ketchups served in a tiny bowl and the hot sauce right away. I was celebrating my birthday with my husband and wanted to end the night with a nice pastry. (I had purposely skipped the restaurants' dessert bc I really wanted to try something from this place since their pastries looked really good). I noticed that their website said they'd close at 10pm and we walked in before 9:30. When we ordered, we were NOT told they would close early. We ordered a slice of cheesecake and a beer. We weren't there for even 10 min and we were already getting kicked out! Umm WHAT??? Your website AND YOUR DOOR literally says 10pm close! But at 9:32 a worker stacking up chairs said "excuse me, we are closing now". I can understand if they no longer want people walking IN but for the people that are already inside should be able to enjoy their meal until AT LEAST 10 minutes before closing. If anything, The cashier should have told us that they were going to close early. I'm not sure why they kicked us out so early especially when we literally just had like three bites left from the cheesecake and less than half the beer! Very unprofessional service. Arrived after noon on a Sunday and was able to snag an outdoor long table under the shade of several umbrellas. Great, since we didn't want to burn in the high noon sun and also had an infant in our group. There was a long queue to order but it moved quickly. The kitchen mixed up our order and the server gave us a Turkish breakfast instead of a Greek breakfast platter. It was later corrected with some confusion. The cashier missed my order of spanakopita but it wasn't on the receipt so at least we didn't get charged for it. The Turkish dairy product, honey and fresh bread were tasty, albeit a bit pricey at $7.95 for the portion. The Eel River IPA was popular at our table, as was the ayran yogurt drink. Would definitely return! The pastries in the case are tasty as well. I enjoyed the minced beef pastry as well as the gozleme with potato. read more

Probably good food, but the manager interrupted my transaction and rudely rejected my method of payment, without listening what it is. The place seemed understaffed and hectic. I had forgotten my card and wanted to pay with Samsung pay, which works on any legacy pos, the girl handling the transaction was helpful and about to make it work, when​ the manager interrupted and fussed at me without letting me explain. The person at the register apologized and tried to help, the manager didn't. Hint for management, don't forget customer service when you get involved. Riding on a high rating because of tasty sugar bombs doesn't excuse unsifficient staffing or completely neglecting the customer's request, albeit exotic. I waited in line for 10 minutes, twice, and spent 10 minutes to make paying there possible, now I'm not going back. read more

Paying more than $20 for a plate that will not fill you up is horrible especially when the taste is nowhere to be found. I went to Germany and had real wurst, this is far from being it. I enjoy the leisure-oriented layout and the feeling of the locals pouring in and out, having a good time. I feel as if the doors to this place transcend you into Greece! Good for tea with pastries and a quick something. Nothing special, I have seen much better for my taste middle Eastern restaurants, but as pastry shop to have a drink is perfect as the corner location across from the train station is unbeatable. The most pleasant thing about this place it seems to be the perfect place to go an a first casual date when you meet someone online and don't want the coldness of a Starbucks but not quite meeting in a formal setting. Unfortunately my party ordered the lentil soup, gyro wrap, salmon entree, and baklava for dinner on a Friday night. The service was good. The food was well below average by many standards. The ambiance is borderline dirty and stuffy. I've been to Olympus many times and I'd be willing to try Olympus again, but it's not on the top of my list for Mediterranean or Middle Eastern on Castro Street in Mountain View. Olympus makes decent breakfast, which is likely the only thing I'd go back for. Omelets seem to be made with watered down batter. Order actual eggs. I'm sure there are other menu items that are good at Olympus Diner. Overall I believe that Olympus does not use authentic Mediterranean or Turkish cooking methods for many menu items and desserts. read more

Food = 1.0: I came here with my family for Sunday breakfast. The food was not good. I had the veggie crepe, which was paper thin (ie watered-down batter). My brother had the "turkey-bacon scramble" (see below). The turkey-bacon looked like bologna (ew!) Service = -5.0: Yes that is right. NEGATIVE five stars. We ordered and then sat down at one of the outdoor tables. The food took over 25 mins to show up. We had to ask about the food TWICE. When the food finally started to show up, the dishes were staggered and some of us had food when some of us did not. They also got one dish wrong (ie no turkey-bacon in the "turkey-bacon scramble"). So, we sent it back to the counter. The server brought the same dish back out to dispute whether there actually was turkey-bacon in the dish. Um, what happened to "the customer is always right"?! They finally got everything right but most of us were already done with our dishes. There was no point when we were all eating at the same. Awkward! Atmosphere = 1.0: This place is set up more like a coffee shop than a restaurant. Maybe they should reevaluate their business plan. This place has ok Turkish food and they bake their own stuff, which is nice. The best part is the outside seating. Parking can be a challenge, as this is on swanky Castro street where all the fancy people get their lunch. I ordered a Turkish coffee, and they asked me, "single, double, or triple?" I thought that meant how concentrated it is, but apparently this refers to size, so I got a Paul Bunyan mug of super-strength coffee. I tried to drink it, but all that caffeine killed me and now I'm dictating this review from beyond the grave via ouija board. read more

But it deserves well 4 stars for a "nomal not pretentious cafe". You can find butter croissants. Very similar to the ones you can find in France! And I really liked their veggie sandwich (with portobello mushroom). They also have nutella croissants... But I'm not a big fan. They are too sweet for me. Maybe if they put a little less sugar / nutella, they would be perfect. Service is nice and the waiter with the moustache is a really funny guy in spite of his serious look. First time in I ordered two meals and a side and the made a mistake and overcharged $8 or so. They did not show me the order until I was already charged. It was a shit show as the manager first refunded me $3 but took $15 of food off of our order. They tried to correct many times but they could not get it right. He came out and was so confused and raised his voice in front of everyone but could not figure out what he had done. At this point I was afraid to give him my credit card as he wanted to take it in the back room. Service here was a mess. I could tell that all the employees were friendly and meant well, but they simply did not seem properly trained in food or customer service! I sat on the outdoor patio for almost two hours and watched as customers left and their dirty cups and plates remained sitting on the table for well over half an hour! No one came around to clean up, meaning people who wanted to enjoy the sun didn't have anywhere to sit. And then I ordered a no-frills, unsweetened iced coffee. I sat down, put my number on the table in plain view, and thirty minutes later that coffee was nowhere in sight. Come on, we all know how long it takes to put cold iced coffee in a plastic cup. When I let the shy waiter know, he apologized and my drink arrived within one minute, so I'm assuming they just forgot. Still, unacceptable. I wrote a meh review about this back when it was Netto Caffè. PLEASE DON'T COME HERE NOW! Since it's changed hands, there is just way too much food on their menu--more authentic Turkish breakfast items, the salmon they serve is not burnt anymore. It's still so annoying to have to bend down and plug into all the outlets they have along the walls and to sign into their still free and reliable WiFi. Except now there are no flies and the service is too friendly! The new decor is so homey and cafe like, and they play terribly study-like music. DEFINITELY DON'T COME HERE TO WORK OR STUDY PLEASE. Because I want to make sure I have a spot the next time I come here... So leave your laptops at home! read more
