With the boyfriend's impending move to MTV on the horizon, we figured we'd check out some local cuisine. Olympus was the first brunch spot on our list (and, conveniently, the first one on Castro St), so we gave it a go. The line was long when we got there (a little before noon on a Sunday), but it moved quickly enough and most of the people seemed to be semi-regulars. There was a lot of outdoor seating, which we utilized given the nice weather. The food is pretty standard. I figured I'd be authentic and try the Mediterranean breakfast, which is basically a plate of everything you think you'd find in a Mediterranean breakfast: feta cheese, olives, Greek yogurt, tomatoes, cucumber, two eggs and a side of pita. Given my lack of experience with the dish, I wasn't quite sure how it was supposed to fit together, but I tried little bites of various combinations and it all seemed to work out. I still couldn't really help but feel I could have slapped it all on a plate myself with the contents of my fridge, though. The boyfriend got a Denver omelette, which he declared as "pretty good." We both wish he'd gotten the french toast, which was carried by us several times on its way to other tables and smelled incredible. Overall, it was a perfectly pleasant way to spend our Sunday brunch. I don't know that it's somewhere we'll be frequenting often, but if you're looking for a relatively inexpensive meal and nice outdoor seating, it's worth a shot. Went here for a Sunday brunch and sat outside. Nice atmosphere, but my veggie omelette was poorly seasoned and hash browns a bit oily. The food that I had here was a huge disappointment. I ordered the Athenian Panini with salad. The salad was made of pretty nice, fresh greens but it didn't have any salad dressing. The good quality of the greens is why I gave this place 2 stars rather than 1 star. I asked for some dressing and they gave me a tiny bit of dressing that was pretty bland. The Panini was completely tasteless. The menu said it would have kalamata olives on it but they were definitely cheapo canned black olives. It also had a slice of crispy eggplant with a nasty, tough skin on it. The eggplant slice was barely cooked. I used some of the salad dressing on the Panini but it was hopeless because that Panini had absolutely no flavor. The Panini was on a flavorless, boring bun that appeared to be a Wonderbread hotdog bun. Also, the pita bread on the side seemed like the crummy stuff you can get at any grocery store. If this is a bakery, then why don't they have good bread? I think that $8 for such sorry food is pretty unreasonable. On of my boyfriend and I's favorites. They have delicious coffees, teas, and both sweet and savory pastries. Their food is very good. I love their chicken kabob plate. I have ordered a couple things on the menu that I was not a fan of, but overall I almost always leave full and happy. This is also one of the more affordable restaurants on Castro Street, great for a reasonably priced lunch or dinner. read more

When you order a $18.00 meal (salmon salad, including tax and tip), you really need to be able to compete with the other Castro St restaurants. This does not cut it. You get a piece of grilled fish and some baby spinach (not tossed, no salt, nothing basically). When the bar is raised, you just have to do better. read more

Definetely the best place for breakfast in Mountain View. Tasty Turkish breakfast, tea and boreks. Provides option to have your breakfast outside when it is sunny. And it is affordable. I like vegi omlette and sigara borek. read more

This place is always erratic. I ordered cafe white mocha few times and every time the taste is different. One time they gave me cafe mocha. Other time they forgot whipped cream. If you are charging $3.8 for a mocha, you ought to get it right. Also, as others have mentioned, they never pick up the dishes after customers leave, sometimes even hours later. read more

I had an awful experience. I ordered a plain burger with bacon and cheese and received a bun, some bacon, and some cheese- no burger. I tried to be as clear as I could while ordering it, and I understand the error if he didn't hear me correctly. That part was fine. I was then told from the kitchen that it was not possible to fix the order. WTF?? Just cook me the patty I ordered and paid for and I can slap it on the burger! It's not that hard! Food is just okay; service (what service??), there is no service and overpriced. We visited this location on a beautiful Sunday morning (order# 619649) at 10:15 AM. They were not busy at all and we sat outside after ordering. Two breakfasts, coffee and tea, $40.43. My waffle arrived first, was not prepared as requested, and was cold with a thimble size syrup that won't even serve one half of the waffle. We sat an waited for my wife's breakfast to arrive. 10 minutes later, my food cold at this time, we asked for her's which was delivered a few minutes later. My side of poached eggs arrived last. they were cold ($6.40 for a side of two poached eggs). My coffee was never refilled. This was our second and last trip to this location. Recommendations: No; stay away. find a different breakfast-lunch spot that serves better food, arrives on time and is not overpriced. Nice location, friendly staff, terrible food. -1 star: they forgot our food (took 30 minutes for a small order) and it arrived cold. Cold burger. Cold fries. Cold hash browns. -2 star: bad food. The burger tasted like my high school cafeteria. The fries were cold, tasteless. The hash browns weren't even cooked. Out of the entire plate, maybe about 7 were actually 'brown' hash browns. Will definitely not come back here. The food was decent, nothing spectacular. And the service was horrible. After waiting 20 minutes for our food, the hostess informed us they had run out of gyro's. We asked to cancel our order since they were out of the food. Rather than graciously accepting our request to cancel, they made a huge deal about this and refused to let us cancel our order, despite not having the food we wanted. If it's a nice day and you are looking for a cafe with outdoor seating, this is your best option in downtown Mountain View. Also a convenient work spot - free wifi, lots of seating, indoor and out. Apart from that, food and coffee is mediocre, not much reason to go there. read more

If you're looking for a Michelin Star restaurant, this is *not* the place. Go away. Look somewhere else. Olympus has no frills, no chills, no pretensions or delusions of grandeur. The place is laid back, the staff friendly and welcoming, and the portions are good value for the money. If you're looking for good, decent food at a fair price in a relaxed cafe atmosphere, a good menu that has variety without compromising flavor or execution, and fresh pastries and baked goods daily, this is the place to be! If you're looking for a place to have a coffee and a delicious desert, Olympus delivers. If you want something Turkish, Greek, or an old-fashoned American breakfast with a halal twist (turkey bacon!), then you have found the best joint on Castro Street. They even have books in both Turkish and English for the guests to read, and there's even a travel documentary on Turkey playing perpetually on the big screen inside the cafe. What more could a denizen of Northern California want out of a local cafe? Olympus is indeed a divine place to rest your foot and nosh! read more

A Turkish bakery and caffe. The service was great, friendly staff, and a great environment. The owner is a nice man from Turkey, he owns a restaurant down the street that we are going to have to check out tomorrow. We ordered a chocolate chip cookie, and it was massive and delicious, definitely worth the dollar fifty. We also ordered an Acma, which was described to us as a cinnamon roll without the cinnamon. My wife and I stopped in for lunch today. Very poor experience. I ordered the T-BLT and my wife ordered the fettuccine. The food took forever to get to our table. When it finally arrived my sandwich was very well done.. and devoid of flavor. My wife's dish had penne instead of fettuccine. When she returned it they informed her that they ran out of fettuccine so just used penne instead.. without bothering to ask us. Came in at 9:40 (sign says open till 10) and there were about 10 other people inside. Stood around for about 5 minutes before the guy behind the counter tells me "we're closed, they are just here for talking. Unless you want something to go" I say, yes, order a tart, and go to pay and he says "Cash only. We've already run the credit card machine." and I say, "ok, well I don't have any cash so, nevermind," and he says "well, I took it out of the case so now what am I supposed to do with it, you have to pay for it" Uh, or you could, you know, put it back in the case. He was extremely rude in the way he treated me, his tone of voice, and his whole attitude. Sign outside says "soft opening" you'd think as a new business you'd want to try to retain customers, but you certainly won't if you treat them like this! This is a pleasant spot with an attractive array of desserts, but I don't understand their system (or lack thereof). I ordered a piece of revani (is that Turkish for "huge wad of sugar" perchance?) and an iced coffee. When presented with my credit card receipt, I asked the cashier if my order would be called or delivered to my table. "We'll bring it to you," she assured me. That turns out to mean "We'll bring it to you sometime in the next year." People around me were popping up from their tables, pacing like caged beasts and going inside to check on the progress of their orders. Not a good sign. My order arrived after 15-20 minutes. I mentioned to the server (who was also the cashier) that I failed to understand why it would take more than five minutes to put cake on a plate and pour a cup of coffee. She pointed out (sweetly, I might add) that there were people ahead of me. Uh, yeah. I remember waiting in the line. I am not by any stretch of the imagination a diva who thinks that my order should be priority #1, but do you mean to say that you have one guy (I'm thinking Tim Conway as the old coot moving like a glacier in the old Carol Burnett show skits) who has to cook orders one at a time before shoveling a piece of cake onto a plate? Horrible lunch experience. The gyro is food for Fido! It was delivered but my companion's salad was not. After i was well into discovering the mysterious joys within my pita I had to go inside and ask for it. They had forgotten it. When it finally arrived the advertised walnuts were not to be found. Again I trudged inside and eventually the boss man came out with a small amount of pecans. They had run out of walnuts. I've been giving these guys the benefit of the doubt because I like having a breakfast place close to home, but the jury is now in and the verdict is not good. This is the third time I've eaten here, and two of three times, either me or someone I'm with has gotten sick eating here. Last time, it was my friend who felt ill after his meal. Most recently, my eggs were undercooked to the point of being runny/raw. The table next to mine had the same problem. An hour later, I found myself struggling to keep my food down. For sheer proximity to Caltrain I can imagine getting coffee here in the future, but from this point forward, I'm done with the food. I'd suggest the same to others. read more

Lots of variety - along with flies!! I came here for buklawa and a cup of coffee couple of times. There are flies inside the food storing counter near the cash register. I could not order buklawa after seeing flies on the food, couldn't drink coffee inside because of flies. Is it possible to give no stars? We waited for 30 minutes for our breakfast. We ordered the Turkish dishes #5 and 8. The sandwich was cold and frankly costco does a better sausage. The salad was not freshly cut and a bug was visibly in the dish. This place sucks! read more
